Day 67. With the load shedding and opportunistic night dweller's digging up power cables our power supply gonna be unstable for the next few weeks. So with a heavy heart I grabbed the snips. Was hoping on another week. To all the sponsors @Totemic, @Light It Up, @Aeradix, GSR Seeds, @Cannabist, Green Grow Room, @ExploGrow, @Golden-Goose, The High Co and @Futurama Hydroponics thanks for making this possible. Then let's not forget @420SA for pulling this together. Had a great time and most of all I learnt so much so shout out to all you out there. Looking back I ended up investing some on grow equipment and my little tent kitty has already been started. T3 the entrant that could have been.12 points

Hi folks. So I (tried to) read an article on Cilo Cybin, the local company with a licence to grow and future listing on the JSE. The article could have been a good one if not for the total utter lack of knowledge by the reporter. Mother plants only lasting 6 months, cannabis flowers becoming mother plants, and cloning from leaves... get the fuck out of here... Here is the link if you wanna read up. Honestly speaking I would actually love to visit their facility to see what's up and to hear what gear they are running. Might make for some interesting conversation. https://www.businessinsider.co.za/trending/cilo-cybin-cannabis-growing-and-processing-plant-to-list-on-the-jse-2021-104 points

One week since the last update and holy moly the two bigger plants have grown a lot! Dinamed 1 is responding well to the LST. Given that she's started flowering she's really stretching out which has made it easy to move things out the way and open up all the bud sites to direct sunlight. Today was the first feeding including Bio-Bloom and Topmax. Up until now only been feeding with Bio-Grow, a little Seagro and occasional Kelpak foliar spray. Also included a close up photo of the top bud site. Still very early days but things are starting to get interesting. Cheese 1 has grown a whole lot more foliage and her leaves in general have gotten much bigger, but still has very short spacing between nodes so I can't open her up a whole lot with LST. I reckon I'll have better success once she starts flowering and gets stretchy - still no signs of flowering yet though. Currently feeding with just Bio-Grow, a little Seagro and occasional Kelpak foliar spray2 points

Thanks. With some good advice and help from the forum we did it There is definitely a fighting gene in these genetics I'd say. Your beans definitely had a holy cow what the fuck moment there though. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk2 points

That's really sad man. The roots look fine so I don't think it was that. How much space does the root ball take up in the bucket? Is your air pump sufficient? Im calling root bound with little access to fresh o2. Let's see what others say. Sad man, [emoji17] Sent from my SM-A715F using Tapatalk2 points

Fuck me that's a bunch of money. 10 of that 30 bar probably went to some bureaucrat for making the licencing process happen. Sadly it also points to the fact that cash is king and the small players will face a moerse uphill battle to be part of something like this.. If you can perhaps find that video please share. Would like to have a look.2 points

I watched a youtube video interviewed by like a German news company, their place looks very legit. Suppose you have to do all that, Someone said it was 30 bar to setup. He knew some people.2 points

All 3 of my plants have had the weird light and dark colours on the leaves and I wondered if it may be a deficiency. I was spraying with Epsom before flipping to flower but thought I should stop. I've also now just read that low PH could cause Magnesium deficiency so I'm thinking I should calibrate my pen to be sure it's not that. I can't really tell if it's getting any worse or better because I've seen it throughout my whole grow and I think I look at them too often . I appreciate the advice, will definitely look in to it.1 point

Doesn’t look like you need to defoliate yet bud, I would wait to stretch settles, you can however clean the lowers leaves that you are certain are not receiving light. And then it seems you may have a magnesium deficiency. But some phenos do that even with the addition of magnesium, for instance I had the same thing happen with a deluxe sugarcane pheno. So maybe a Epsom’s drench 1/2 tsp per 5l will do okay, if no changes don’t stress about it. Maybe do it another 2/3 applications. And then you can atleast be sure they have adequate magnesium1 point

It just seems strange to me, I've also done quite a bit of DWC and I've had roots look like that with no problem. When I saw root rot there was a very noticeable amount of what appears like slime and goo, I'll post an example below. I just wonder if the plant somehow triggered itself to cause end-of-life, something mega rudimentary.1 point

So I took it outside first then I chopped it up and put it in my big compost bin which sits in the sun all day and is closed, and I put a layer of soil on top. After that, I took the rest of the plants out, gave them pyrol and cleaned the tent, and brought the rest back into the tent after it was sterilized.1 point

Jip. First time that i've seen a Marigold sacrifice itself in this way.1 point
-
yeah my mom loves marigolds, she always got some in her garden. she got wacked over the head with marigolds when the whole "save the bees" thing was going on. she planted loads, still buys new 6packs every summer but marigolds was all that held up and there are bees and ladybugs swarming it as soon as the first flower opens.1 point
-
Ya Im probably wrong on that one because as I said, they were growing and I did not notice any issue, could be confusing them with another cover crop or plant as well.1 point
-
a marigold is a stink afrikaner? arent they meant to repell unwanted insects by the smell of the plant itself and attract predatory insects with their huge bulbous flower such as bees and lady bugs and other pollinators thus detering unwanted plant eaters even further? first time I ever hear a marigold attracting unwanted insects.1 point

Hello humble gardeners, I must update the new findings on the some of these plants that received the snip over the past few days, some due to being male and one because she was devoured by the dog, well most got defoliated pretty severely by this mut. The Crazy Hazey was the unfortunate victim, but did clone her. Anyways, I put up a fence and will be done with that. onto the good news. The DQ x Slurri - ended up with 2 females So they went into 2 x 20l pot to hopefully flower/ or reveg, not counting on it but made clones so its a win. of the Jack herer and Bubalicious, I think i've got 1 of each to choose from that haven't shown signs yet, others I confirm males and one has gone composting for now. Indoors the plants have started their training, and they seem to be adjusting to their new surrounding which is good, they got some microbes and water and then plain water, will be installing the blumat once they start growing properly.1 point

I noticed that the beans are pulling in quite a bit of aphids. Tomorrow I will chop them down and get rid of it before things get out of hand. I also noticed whitefly around so its time to treat the area and keep doing ot every week. The Slurricane Cheese sexed female but will still keep an eye on her. The pistils is still small ans I can't get a pic of it... And on a different note, does anyone know what plant this is. Saw it today on my way out from a client. Cant seem to find it due to insufficient knowledge....1 point
-
Thanks, I got rid of that one which was so far gone, and replaced it with another clone I had on hand, I was worried about the rest, I sprayed all of them with kemprin last night then cleaned the tent today with hydrogen peroxide and applied pyrol after, so hopefully that is the end of it now I just have to wait for the new clone to veg up to size for a couple of weeks. Thanks for the advice on this matter, really appreciate it.1 point

T3 Same story as T2 under the microscope. Some nice solid dense bugs on this one. My favorite.1 point

T2 Almost there. Trichomes milky with some amber starting to show. Sugar leaves more on the amber side.1 point

yeild depends on way too many factors to give you a yes or no answer - the damaged plant needs to grow for many weeks before you flip her...if you flip her along with the rest of the plants, then you will be wasting the plant - she needs much longer to recover - the leaves will never come right and new growth is necessary1 point

Is not enough light to get em into flower mode... if you have em on 12/12 flower anyhow, doesnt matter much. But your plants in veg you can stress very much. Stage 2 and 2 dark times at the wrong time can easy stress the Ladies. As 18 - 5 = 13. A week load shedding can push em into flip, even you dont want and reveg after. Weak genetics will easy respond to hermi on you.. and that is a total loss. The cheap fix are those load shedding lights activating once power goes out, just connect it to the right power line or you funk over too.1 point

Thanks guys, I was stressed that I would have to get rip of the whole grow, I'm using kemprin right now cause I have it on hand, I will empy the tent and use peroxide. Should I be spaying the peroxide solution or should I be putting it in a bucket and wiping the tent with it? I'll get some pyrol and use that on the rest of the tent after. Then start using pyrol on the plants1 point

I had an issue were they were overwatered (due to me leaving my 1 week old plants out in the rain) but put the grow bags in the sun and then left them in a tub of dry coco to pull excess moisture from the bottom. And were better after within 2 days, which allowed me to finally start my watering schedule. Since they have dried out they have received some Jadam maintenance solution. Time has passed and i served the guys at Poker some Tortoni. It is not a taste cannon.. but over all a way over average smoke due to smoothness and the pleasant flavors you get when exhaling. They asked me if there is more coming.. I said yes and there was happiness all around the table As said, I am very sure I find a way better pheno and will do a hunt with regulars as soon as I have space. If you smokes a lot and have cough issues.. this weed is a nice solution. Buddy wanted to make a break, because of his lungs.. he is total fan of the Tortoni smoothness, had zero issues smoking it.1 point

Week 6 done and start of week 7 This will be my last update until week 3 of flower. Everything has been boring up until now lol OK so we have seen the organics with some fast growth and they look lovely but the big question is, where the hell are the pics of the synthetic Marzcanna!? Well I don't like synthetic that's why lol! Actually the reason why I haven't posted any pics is because before I started this grow I had just enough amended coco from my previous grow for my organics, laziness soon kicked in when I realized that I'd have to buy anther brick, wash and buffered it, so I went and bought "washed and buffered" coco with perlite instead. Now I have mentioned that you should still wash and buffer your coco regardless and guess what I didn't follow my own advise, I watered the coco and planted directly (I won't mention the brand of the coco or the company, because it's partially my fault for not washing and buffering it regardless if it was advertised that it was) long story short you can guess what happen next, slow growth, alot of yellowing and even after loads of flushing and dosage of cal - mag it took the synthetics along time to recover (this is why I prefer to mix my own soil and this will be the last time I buy in pre made coco or mixed soil) The synthetics are now looking healthy and growing fast but I doubt it will catch up with the organics , I will post some pics soon but I guess it has thrown off the all side by side I had planed for this grow but forward we go. Here's a pic of the grow room at this stage and happy heritage day growmies!1 point

With the legal changes happening world wide one after the other, the seed market is going to completely change over the next few years, and if breeders aren't adapting or scaling to meet ever increasing demand for affordable quality seed, then they may not be around for long.1 point
-
Snap I just remembered something important, I'm pretty sure most seedbanks sell seeds as souvenirs in South Africa and actually state that it is not their intention to sell seeds for the purposes of germination. They do this to get out of whatever grey area they might find themselves in (like if someone tries to send CPA after them for "faulty" seeds). So ja that's totally out the window then. CPA does not apply.1 point
