  7. What about a nice mankini? The investment is totally worth it. Buy a pizza oven, get people to eat pizza and trim your bud in exchange for some fresh, home made pizza. Providing pizza is like a vacation. Gives me time to go to the beach with my mankini.

  8. It's a longish video so I'll see where I can fit it in, but yeah I don't refer to males in their entirety as dominant. I refer to dominant and recessive traits. I don't agree that early males are hermies or generally hermies even. That statement just isn't scientific enough. Hybrid vigor also does not suppress hermie nature. Activated and deactivated alleles just don't work that way. It's either recessive(one copy of the allele, activated, but not expressed), dominant(both alleles activated, and thus expressed), or entirely switched off. As for recessive traits.... It is not only special males that have recessives. All males have recessives, and most males will interact positively on females while others will produce ditch weed. Outdoors plants rarely show hermie traits, where if you take that same plant indoors, the hermie nature expresses easily.

  13. Been a busy time... Sifted 400lt of compost from the JoJo composter, cooking 200lt's on the backburner for the next round in the wheelybin. Mixed 2 batches of 160lt's. Base store bought 'soil' amended with wood ash, volcanic rock dust, dol lime, bone meal, bio ocean kelp and 60lt of sifted compost and 30lt EWC each. The soil in the blue drums get rolled every week to mix and aerate during cooking. The drums are less messy and look neater, rolling them also much less effort that spade turning. Been struggling to find decent EWC locally, decided 'stuff this' and started our own farm, mix of red wrigglers and local worms. Started with 1, now up to 2 totes, very soon 4x60lt totes will supply 40-80lt's every 2-3mnths. The tea is a welcome bonus. Worms seem happy as they breeding like bunnies.

  14. Just anther update, the k-2 & Zkittlez are growing fairly fast soz had to do some training on them, I must also add that supplementing silica has done wonders for training the plants, stems seem "rubber" like making it easier to push them at extreme angles without worrying to much about snapping. Will recommend anyone to try silica if you haven yet Applied some neem oil after the super cropping for the bugs and back in the tent they go for a week's recovery

  15. I checked on The One and it was clear to me she wanted out. The leaves began to wilt and become crispy, as though she were deep into Autumn. I decided then to give her the harvest, it was time. I took a couple shots as the final state of my plant for judging, some closeups and overviews

  16. Yeah thats 34 plants and really as many as I could fit in a 1.2m. This is really not the way to be growing autos. They will do much better in big fabric pots with 6 plants in 6 x 30L in a 1.2m. Made sense to me for breeding. 4 x cinderella jack autos x strawberry vostok auto = Anastasia 99 F1 regular autos 4 x strawberry cheesecake x strawberry vostok = Jessica Rabbit F1 regular autos 4 lemon larry og x strawberry vostok = ? still picking a name. strawberry vostok f1 x strawberry vostok f1 = F2 Much more crowded upstairs. all SVF1.

  18. You kinda have to buy it in bulk, I cannot remember the quantity but I think it was something stupid like 25KG of each and there are 4 parts to it. If you want ease and convenience, Terra Aquatica TriPart is the way to go. Not cheap but works a bomb.

  21. Yes, they go hand in hand. Microbes and fungi are often seen in "organic" grows, however at what point is a grow no longer organic? If you do a foliar with some CalMag or perhaps do a feed with some CalMag or something along these lines? Just because it is organic does not mean microbes and fungi are being used, on the other hand just because someone is using salt nutes, does not mean they are not making use of microbes and fungi. As well as just because someone is using some organic soil with microbes and fungi, does not mean it is an organic grow as other additives, supplements, nutes or sprays could be used which are not organic. They may go hand in hand, but they are separate and I feel people often see it as a whole and therefore often limit it to "organic" grows or soil grows. As long as it works for you We both believe that fungi and microbes can be beneficial for a grow and we both make use of them. We just disagree on certain points which is completely fine and I guess this is kinda like religion in a way. lol

  30. This is the End ^^ 7 September Update Time to judge ^^ time to write my opinion. I had 2 of the same Phenos and with just 3 beans I do not judge a strain. If somebody sets a pistol to my head and tells me to judge or die.. I wouldn't keep the Tortoni in my mother tent, not the Pheno I had. Would say is very heavy on the Sunset Sherbet side.. and also with my own Gelato selection, I preferred the Thin Mint Cookie side. Buds grow vigorocity isn't what I am used to.. or what I select when choosing a plant. Bud grow behavior was at best average. Picture to compare what I mean... the Pineapple didn't made it in my Mother tent either... not tasty enough, bud size was great. Harvest: 61.2g dressed, 8.7g dressing material on Sisa THC Content: 14.8% AW = average Water (moisture content, 63%) Dressing Pics What i collected on the glove while dressing (both plants) What I took for testing Final pictures Sisa's roots Training Pictures Close up on the trained section One branch was 3 cm lower as the rest, rest was more or less even. Happy with my training result. (Actually got the idea from @Stinger96 to do the pic like that ^^) Effect Pictures (for the fun of it) Tarryn said first Bye Bye to Tarryn ^^ Now you know from what woman I selected that name ^^ And Sisa's final pictures

  31. Finally took some time to look at the girls. Eina. Cleaned up the dead bleached peroxide surfer wannabe leaves. They are not looking dead and seems thanks to my kak spraying seems like the buds are still mostly healthy. Foxtailing continues on the runt, but #1 seems to have been shocked into standstill, no surprises #1 #3 the runt Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  32. I think what it comes down to is, people / the community want to be able to do it on the cheap and not have it limited to those who have millions to risk and lose. Something more achievable for the average grower out there who does not have deep pockets.

  33. Alright okes! What a shocker of a plant!! She is still doing Her weird shit and doesn't seem to be slowing down on the pistols! Not a fade or a brown pistol in sight - she truly has me baffled. She is the only plant that's being weird in my flower tent... And I still have no answer as to why...

  34. Here are the prophesied pictures. As you can see, the tops of my colas have elongated, and the leaf tips are soft and rounded, indicating imminent reveg. Absolutely unsure why she is doing that as none of the other flowering plants have any issues with the way they are flowering... Thank goodness I flipped before the flip deadline so I can see how these ladies finish if they fatten up from here on out, I will have some ultra sexy colas that will need some support

  36. Good evening growmies! My lady is now starting to make budsites and stretch quite nicely. I cleaned up a bit more underneath and am eager to see how the flowers develop. I have a beautiful sluricane in late flower and if any of these genes come through, it is going to be a sweet flower and very frosty! I can't wait!

  41. Just my 5c, drop the strain if you're having trouble with hermies. I had a strain that I worked on over a few seasons to get my perfect buzz mainly because the breeding thing intrigued me. Last batch turned out hermie, tossed all but 10 seeds due to relocation. Tried to fix it. Trust me, chuck the strain and start over. Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk

  42. Environmental factors will influence gene expression, you can read up on allele's and their role in gene's / expression. From what I could read from the screen shot, it sounds like a bunch of pseudo-science rubbish based off very big assumptions with very little to no basis in scientific fact. If they however did trial runs and published their findings in a journal I'd love to read it. If they however have some how discovered to trigger a survival trait in their plants to express primarily female chromosomes then its a different story (but I highly doubt they did).

  44. Well .... has a predisposition towards said sex .... According to this literature atleast I love having these types of discussions especially because the genetic profiling of our favourite plant is still in such early days that even discoveries we may make that seem insignificant once discussed and analyzed can help contribute towards our understanding of this miraculous species

  45. So this comes from the Cannabis Breeders Bible by Greg Green - struggling to find which year this is , but i know i have an older version too on my currently chargerless laptop Sorry for the quality as i had to screenshot from a pdf file hope you can all atleast read it

  46. thanks for clarifying man and sparking the desire to go and double check my own research - which led to me obtaining a newer edition of the breeders bible I was a little under the wrong impression this whole time - while it is worth noting that though a seed may be genetically inclined to be either male or female - environmental conditions also play a role in sexual expression I hope to have more convos like these that push ones knowledge boundaries and in turn cause one to do further research even if its something i thought i had gone through already

  47. The best way I can explain the hermie phenomonon in cannabis. All cannabis plants can "hermie" as they fall into the category of dioecious plants. This simply means that male and female flowers are usually on two different plants. What's interesting to note with almost all plants in this category is their ability to also produce the opposing flowers to ensure the survival of the species. At the very core of it, that is what all living organisms are hardwired for. So this really is less of a trait and more genetic hardwiring, a common foundation for the species. The trigger is stress and this is where the traits come in. The trait is finding the genetic expression that can tollerate the highest amount of stress and not hermie. Some genetic expressions have a low stress threshhold and hermie just by looking at them wrong, while others can withstand massive fussing. Also it is interesting that "hermie" is actually a wrong term but so widely used that it is accepted. All your "perfect" flowers are true hermie flowers and defined as having both male and female reproductive parts on a single flowers structure. Cannabis keeps its flower structures distinctly seperate. So back to the point... stresses can be so subtle that you as a person may never know what the stress was. Regardless, once you have identified a plant "hermies" then you can assume its a stress so yes that genetic expression may not like your indoor environment and need outdoors to feel they arent being threatened. So the key is finding those plants that can tollerate the most everyday stresses without the survival response kicking in. All hermies should be discarded to try and eliminate the low stress tollerance trait as it carries over and offspring and genetically even less stress tollerant thus going hermie even easier.

  48. Im afraid the hermie genes are dominant and the chances of you ever getting it to recess is almost impossible with clandestine breeding. Cant really say much more except yeah start over with known genetics and you'll stand a better chance of not encountering hermies.
