I've done some defoliating on the bottom halves of the plants. The extra space makes watering much easier and the plants are looking pretty neat and tidy. I am pretty much ready to flip I am already looking to beat my last harvest by some and I don't want to over-veg. I'd say I am close to halfway high on one corner of the tent. The supercropped Aurora Indica is looking pretty level at last. Very happy with the management of that particular girl.6 points

Yip yip! Flip is officially today. Total time since seed is 46 days I've taken clones of the GDP, Royal Gorilla, Zkittlez x Purple Punch and Aurora Indica. The Aurora Indica last harvest was really nice after a cure so I'd like to get some more of that. I'd like more of the Zkittlez x Purple Punch as only one of the three seeds survived, although I don't know what the strain is like yet. Mates want some of the GDP and Royal Gorilla, how can I say no? Cloning for the first few times has also been a treat.3 points

Hi guys, a few more update pics below. Not sure about this yellow leaf, there's another one at the back of the plant. Only the big fan leaves are that colour. Any idea what it is?3 points

It's a sign from the gods! So basically you need to purge the tent of as much oxygen as you can and have co2 displace it. Once you think you've displaced with co2 you'll need to seal up the tent and let it sit for an hour or 2. With just co2 in the tent the bugs will asphyxiate and die. That's where the dangerous part comes in for you though. You need to make sure that you don't inhale too much co2 yourself in the process. If you pass out with a bunch of co2 in the air and a tank still releasing co2, it's tickets Strongly advise you don't do it alone and plan it out carefully. How big is your tent? EDIT: you may need a regulator to attach to the bottle. See if mygas can rent one out to you as well2 points

1 Month Update Am rather impressed by how well these have grown over the last month Have transplanted all 3 to larger sized pots last night, so far the Alien Tarantula & OKC are taking the transplant like its nothing only the Slurry that's showing slightly droopy from a bit of shock. @SkunkPharm Thanks again, these are sure to be legendary once finished2 points

Hey everyone, I'm keen on doing a bit of an experiment and thought it would be a great way to get going on the forum. I'm doing an outdoor living soil type grow with some local genetics from Daggafontein. Their Gardener's Delight Mix. I'm so used to growing bagseed, I thought it would be a good start to dip my toes into some better local genetics. I also got some of DG's Diesoline and Candy IV seeds, but that grow might only happen next season. Got a few things going already this season. So, some general info about the grow. Like I said, I want to experiment with a living soil type of grow. I'm used to soil and organics, but only recently have I started to focus on beneficial microbial life and their role in growing strong and healthy organic plants that are pest and disease resistant. I have a few shops close by that stock Bark Unlimited Organics range of products. They are local to me and easily available, so to keep things simple, I will try and stick with them. I'm going to use 12 liter and 20 liter fabric pots and fill them with a mix of coco coir, BUO outdoor potting soil, homemade compost (hot + cold), vermicastings from my own worm bin, vermiculite, some bone meal and some Bio Ocean pellets from Atlantic Fertilizers. For a mulch layer I'm using BUO Bark Chips. The only other stuff I intend on using for this grow is some liquid kelp + probiotic mix for foliar and my own compost extract. For pest control, I plan on using neem oil with some selected essential oils, diatomaceous earth (also for the silica content) and castile liquid soap from PureSimple. Water ensured to be chlorine and chloramine free and PH adjusted to be between 6 and 7. So let's get this show going shall we? 04 November 2020 I picked 6 random seeds from the 20 Gardener's Delight Mix seeds (GDM) I got from Daggafontein and into the shot glass with some proper water they went. They were left for about 5 hours in the glass before transferring them to a paper towel. 05 November 2020 After about 30 hours since going into water, one of the seeds popped and the taproot was showing. I decided not to wait with this one and transferred it into a 8cm plastic cup filled with BUO Super Hemp Soil and some compost extract to wet and inoculate the medium and then I misted the surface of the soil until properly wet. I'm going to keep the seedlings indoor for the first two weeks about. I'm also going to add supplemental light to extend light hours. I'm using a 250w MH for this purpose as it's what I have. Excited to see what this grow will deliver...1 point

Hey guys and girls. I have a 3 pack of Dutch Passion's Charlotte Angel CBD fem that I'm looking to swap for some autos. Bought them for my old lady to grow for her rheumatoid arthritis but she can only do auto's. Unopened in original breeders packaging.1 point

So this is what my current feminized run looks like. Plants between 3 and 5 weeks of flower. I have 3 different chocolope NL phenos, and Chocolope NL #1 is the pollen donor, her one branch was treated and the other left untreated with STS. Then there is an OKC, Slurricane, And Green Crack. Pollination has started. ...1 point

Ez 420SA growers, As per the title, I've discovered mother f***ing thrip damage on a few of the larger fan leafs in my tent. I am 4/5 weeks into flower and things are looking tasty apart from these little suckers(lol!) ruining my morning. Can i spray this deep into the flowering period? I was thinking that a weekly spray of Pyrol may be of help? or should i just let them run a mock in the tent? I predict i have another 4 weeks to go for this run. Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.1 point

When you say the whole time, do you mean for the next few weeks of flowering? The damage is minimal, and i don't think it is at the stage where it will affect the plants performance to badly. The bigger leaves have the characteristic white spots where they have been punctured but that's about it, nothing to wild. Nothing dying off yet, maybe the plants will make the next 4 weeks.1 point
-
depending how bad the damage is, i would ride it out. pyrol will leave a funny taste on the maturing buds. i spray pyrol in the 3rd week of flower and that takes care of any populations that could cause kak. the CO2 would need to be crazy high to kill the thrips via asphyxiation . but it will definitely make them not want to hang around and likely try leave the area, so you would need to keep it going the whole time in order for it to be effective as a pest deterrent.1 point

Small grow, Mammoth Pro 100, 1m² floor space 2m³ total. Seal up the inlet and exhaust and let the CO2 fill up the tent, can i leave the circulation fans run while this happens? I'll be sure my master(partner) keeps a watchful eye over the proceedings.1 point

DUDE!!!! My Gas head office is less than 100m form our warehouse! Thank you for the tip. I'm going to contact them now! Does the CO2 kill them off, while boost. THANK YOU!1 point
-
You're quite deep into flower now and I wouldn't really advise spraying pyrol now... problem is you still have a few weeks to go. That leaves you with few options right now. You can try control it manually by removing/wiping by hand. Quite tricky with thrips as they move around quite quickly. Another drastic but effective measure is purging your tent with CO2 but this is a tricky procedure and needs to be done with caution as you could kill yourself. I'm currently renting out a co2 bottle for homebrew beer. I rent from MyGas who sells 10L of co2 for just over R300. They then charge you R4-00 a day for the bottle rental. No deposit needed.... As I say its a drastic measure but it should work. Will give your plants a little boost in the process as well1 point

That is awesome info. Thanks for the help Bob. Let's try again and see if a fresh start helps. I'm currently busy prepping everything to get some seeds in coir cups and I realized that there is a possibility that some water I mixed for a foliar spray for some other plants, got used to mist the soil after transplanting the seeds initially. This only contained water and some kelp extract at recommended dilution levels for foliar application. I might have forgotten that I put some kelp extract in and used this thinking it's only water. Can the hormones in kelp cause the stunted behavior I experienced? Anyway, it might have happened, but it is definitely not something I ever do to seeds or very young seedlings.1 point

If your beans don't pop after 48 hours... they are not the freshest seeds. Also check how you store your own seeds. Vacuum container, fridge.. you can also freeze them gentle. Seeds from a seed bank run a bit with a "protection", at least the good ones do it. I buy 10 and have 1-2 duds.. I accept it in general. But if I have more fails.. I usually let them know and the only response you should get is: we send the replacement seeds to the same address? If you buy seeds, don't feel shy to tell them, if the seeds are not doing as they should. I had a bad batch once from Nirvana (marijuanaseeds.co.za) and they replaced me the full amount seeds I bought and send to me the same day I wrote the complain. The time you lost will always be the annoying part.1 point

very good very good. plants are looking tip top bru. good work on the super crop, it turned out well! i would just remove one leaf in the mix - the one that when you first super cropped was covering everything. LOL i had a forced supercrop session the other day when one of my qbs fell after i adjusted it, and it smashed a branch properly... shame... luckily i had a trellis to hold up the broken cola... and now she has a fat knuckle!!1 point

This morning already the supercropped Aurora Indica is already perking up. Looking a lot more level but still only just slightly taller, but a lot better.1 point

07 November If all goes to plan, it's about two weeks before I will transplant the seedlings to their fabrics pots outside. I decided to mix the soil today and let it sit for the period leading up to transplant. I used a 150l rough tote for mixing everything. The mix consisted of 1 x 5kg coco coir brick, 90dm outdoor potting soil, roughly 15dm vermicastings and 15dm compost from my own bins. I eyeballed the vermiculite and topped it off with some Bio Ocean pellets and about half a cup bone meal. The total water used to hydrate the coco coir was 60l of tap water, to which I added 1000mg of ascorbic acid for chlorine and chloramine removal and let it sit for a while. Ph was tested to be in neutral range Update on the seeds: The first seed that popped on the 5th and got transferred to germination mix, is still underground. I usually plant them very shallow with taproot down and only the slightest of soil covering. I would have expected to see some action above the ground by today. 2 Other seeds also popped and have the taproot peeking out, but I'm going to hang back maybe a day with them before putting them in the soil. They seem to be a bit slower to respond than what I'm used to. Still amazes me to see how much water a single 5kg coco coir brick can absorb. This is 1 brick and 60l of water.1 point

LMAO, glad to see im not the only one who's employed a personal bodyguard for their ladies Has it got a name? lol - here's mine: introducing "Dik Frik", heard him while looking for males & found him climbing up a plant, he stayed in this pose for a good minute, if i had any mantises in the garden they probably eaten by now1 point

I've been light on the nutes. I was trying to gauge the strength of the new coco. Didn't want to go and burn the shit out of the seedlings and they got a bit hungry Otherwise, looks like I have one plant that's getting a bit taller than the others, it is one of the Aurora Indicas. Out of the 4 planted this one decided to be a stretcher. I may just try my hand at super-cropping on this one1 point
-
Thanks bud. BUO advertise their Super Hemp Soil to be used as a germination mix as well. I'll keep an eye on it anyway, since it is my first time using it.1 point

Nice bru, I would just double check that soil isn't maybe too hot for germinating in.1 point

20L pots will be more than sufficient and can be used for your indoor grow as well. I like to use carlton towel too, place it into a zip lock bag to keep humidity in and then between 2 saucers to keep light out. On top of a modem should be fine to keep it all warm. There are various things you could use to help the plants, but, how much of a difference it makes and how much you are willing to spend is what it comes down you. You could spend a couple thousand on "magic potions" and may not even notice a difference. You do not need any vermiculite, that would just lead to increased water retention. The FF soil alone should suffice and have enough drainage as well. I must say, the FF pots are not bad but there are nicer pots out there. I quite like the Plant Matter pots and @Ill_Evan has some pots which are really awesome as well and priced decently. May be worth speaking to him about some fabric pots. Cannot remember the name of the pots. You will need a loupe or microscope to check the trichomes on the plants closer to the time, as well as a pair of trimming scissors. But you have a few months to go before that is really going to be needed. I don't feel there is much need for the coriander, try it if you want to though. Dont think it will do any harm. You may need something for pest control, can address that later on if need be. If there is anything else you need, you can get it around the time you need it if you are on a budget.1 point
