  3. New grow, mostly the same equipment, a few new toys being trialed. 240W QB. Mammoth Pro 100. 1 x 150mm HIT centrifugal fan drawing fresh air from outdoors through a locally manufactured cartridge filter. 1 x 150mm HIT centrifugal fan exhausting outdoors through silencer. 1 x Brand new RAM oscillating fan(if your had these and they burned out, check if the serial No starts with 2020... These are from a faulty batch and your supplier will replace free of charge. Well that's what mine did). Nutes. Using straights for this run. Weekly foliar program which includes a pest management component 10ltr square pots which a close friend has developed. Hanna combo PH and EC meter. Hanna Groline Soil test™ EC Tester. I have free access to our work lux meter, just to see what's actually going on under the QB. Media is also slightly different. Coir/perlite and peat(Latvia and Poland sourced). So there is clarity from day 1. I don't care about yield! if I get good yield, bonus. More free cannabis products for the people around me. Like everything in my life, I learn best through failure, analyzing where I have come short, and using that as the basis for improvement. I know this method isn't everyone's cup of tea, and that's fine. 20 June 2021 Seeds went into straight coir with no soak. They received no special attention, just dumped on the table in our sunroom behind a north facing window. Seedling tray cavities have a 50mm diameter and are about 90mm deep, not sure how big they should get before transplanting. The root development as we progress will determine when they are planted into the 10ltr pots. I only intend keeping four maybe 5 ladies, the rest will be fed to the wood chipper. 1 July 2021 10 for 10. 2 seedlings had a secondary stem which was removed with a filth dirty pair of trimming scissors(LOL!). Seedling tray was then placed into the tent, they received their first feed and a folia.

  6. It's not a matter of a twin gene. It has to do with the physiology of the calyx, having two pistils a calyx, and an ovule per pistil. In a natural pollination environment the pollen is diluted in the air, and generally only one of the pistils might catch pollen. Once a calyx is pollinated at one pistil the other dies as the seed starts to develop. When you look at the extreme density of having a whole male plant in a 1m2 space, then twin come up often as practically every pistil is pollinated at once. Twins are rarely identical, and are in fact separate genetic expressions.

  10. Good day fellow florists. Time to dust this thread off. Made some progress with summer prep. Started a 6m x 2m growbed next to the tunnel for summer. As well as a seperate veggie patch with 6x 2x1m beds for the pretty redhead and her greenfingers. Started layering browns and greens with compost (240lt for our jojo bin) in between. Amended with rock dust, dol lime and bone meal. AACT will be applied to assist with microbial breakdown. All from renewable sources that would otherwise have gone into landfill. My low tech soil mixer. Beats mixing by spade.

  15. understandable, and I appreciate you saying that, the only real advice we can give is that based on our own experience. when giving advice based on what others listed as "fact" we would just be discussing "hearsay". this is why I don't like when people try to convince me of things they read somewhere once, which sadly happens a lot in the community.

  25. Just an update with my first time using flora bloom. No issues so far and keeping doses mild and keeping a sharp eye on them. I promise to do a proper grow diary with my next run. Currently feeding 1.5ml per litre of bloom

  26. Yeah I'm not saying genetic twins aren't possible. Any damage could occur to an ovule that could cause weird stress response growth. I also can't explain what that tidal wave that happens does when the pollen and ovule merge and create the embryo. At best I'm describing things and processes in a way I understand them, as we can't see what's actually happening on that microscopic level moment to moment.

  27. @PsyCLownthey sell the soaker hose on marijuana SA. R67 per metre. I was just looking for prices on the carrots and drippers. It's going to cost R1200 to set up enough for 2 totes. I use something similar to water my compost piles with. I currently use a timer, tank and spaghetti tubes for watering during flower. I flood into the trays every other day and let the pots suck up the water overnight. Thanks, but I still can't shift the lime colour from the two big girls though. They don't look so lekker, right now. I will claim the bulbs too, cheers. @Bay Seedsthe boy/girl. Its happened to each one, so I probably stressed them out.

  34. I use 2 per tote , mediums/soil stay moist at the core of it longer than the sides so I put mine length wise a 3rd from each side , that gives a almost even moist medium from my experience. I have used between 3-6 drippers per Blumat and they drip 10-15 cm from the sides . First dripper needs to be 8cm from Blumat's and the rest as you please , I try 15-20cm apart. I'm doing a run with the Blumat soaker house now , so far not to bad . Sent from my Hisense Infinity H50 using Tapatalk

  35. @prom its a simple Bonsai technique and there are a bunch of ways to do it. most common is very early in the bonsais life, having a rock under the rots must be the plan from the get go. once your bonsai cutting has rooted, you choose a rock and you place your cutting ontop of the rock and cover it all with soil. then the roots grow over the rock and down into the meduim below. and then once a month or whatever, you wash a mm or 2 off the roots that have grown over the rock, and eventually you will have washed the medium off the rock , exposing the roots all draped over the rock you chose. depending on the type of plant, it could take quite a long time to accomplish. but it sure is visually worth it

  36. Week 9 - Day61 (07/07/2021) HORTIMIX-DWC Ph was already at 6.5 this morning Added ph down (10 drops) New PH at 5.9 and EC at 1.1 Other than a couple of spots on the leaves that might have been there from the last reservoir, Leaves already starting to "pray" a bit and no signs on nute burn, so right now shes looking happy. Will continue to monitor closely.

  39. Day 56 ( Flower Day 5 ) Alright fellas sorry for my absence! Went away for the weekend to fish for some troots. Was actually meant to update on Friday but it totally slipped my mind while packing and all. My apologies.... and even though I wasn't competing in the first place I have disqualified myself... but am allowed to continue growing and post updates... So this soil is evidently still undercooked and even though the plants are recovering to some extent, I'm not seeing the burst of healthy growth I would usually see once the plants go into the super soil. As I say they are improving, but slowly and much behind the pace. Soil PH may not be the best at this point. Hopefully as we progress it will improve. It's at least manageable. I switched to 12/12 on Friday 2nd of July. They are still in the veg tent under the MH running 12/12 now. Tonight I'm going to clean the flower tent and transfer the plants into there. The pic below was taken on Thursday last week (day 51). I will post some updated pics tonight when lights are on. Updated pics to come tonight

  42. And then the pics from this morning. Sadly, on opening the tent this morning, I saw my one plant (front left) had fallen over off the wooden stand, and was squished against the side of the tent...so I righted it as much as I could. They are not as far as I wanted them, but work has just been stupidly busy again and my priorities are just not able to cater for the grow right now. But I continue as much as I can Back centre - is the one whose 2 main stems I have removed. Front left - as you can see is the one that fell

  43. Alright! Good evening ladies and gents! On to the next phase of our journey!!! Where the magic happens!!! Where the glory shall be found and our hopes and dreams dashed or made splendid.... Welcome....to the flowering chambers As you can see... These teeny tots are a bit smaller than my usual bunch hehe but they will do really great because I have given them their own 240w of light, tomorrow night I will be adding the stakes and trellis for the final touches to my growing methods. We have the two Tortoni in there, in the middle and front, and at the back we have two Bananuim plants. I will also be taking cuts of everything tomorrow night... You know... Just in case

  44. Thanks Prom. I hope bloom on thr shelves sooner than later. On previous use the soil was thoroughly flushed and flushed agin before I repotted clones about two weeks ago. 45. Reusing soil you had on flower before... can be problematic. If you did a flush, less stress, if you didnt flush at all and used nutes till the end.. that mix is hot like hell Dont used that soil as seed starter... even would suggest to use it for repotting only once you go flower. And stick to water only the first two weeks. You dont know what NPK ratio is in that soil. Expect to run into issues. Best would be to flush the soil before you use it and add a bit more perlite to the mix. Easier to flush if you need to flush again. BioBizz Bloom should be back on the shelves soon... dont look to far for options.
