Wel the F1 is definately potent enough for me.. Im exited about the f2 and will concentrate on getting a more smelly pheno to cross with.. It's almost where I would like it but not yet.. The reject f2's are comming allong great and is grown outdoors.. They are purely for testing and only stand outs will be kept. The good seed will be kept for germination end of next month..

Cut the bottom  of the bag open.. Turned it around slip it over the plant and closed the Ziploc to the stem.. Helps catching pollen.

Hello growmie, this is very helpful info. I put the bag over, sealed up the Ziploc, but didn't cut open the bottom of the bankie. I knew I hadn't done it right because of the condensation inside.

I usually just cut off the flower and shake the pollen into a container, but a cloud of pollen flies into the air. Your method is much better, I just need to learn how to get it right.

The male did his job and was eliminated.. The remaining girls are fully loaded.. These supposidly f3s will be grown during the coarse of the Outdoor season as a test. Remember these were the reject beans so the real pheno hunt and proper pollination for f3 might only be done next season. This was just a teaser to myself to more or less guage if it is actually worth it to go forward.. This is a game for the guys and gals in the know..👌👍🌱

So to get this right. I'm new to breeding and tried a couple of crosses which went fairly well. Not a ton of seeds but enough to work with.

F1 is the result of the first cross between two different strains.

F2 is crossing the F1's and F3 is crossing the F2's with each other? What is back crossing then?

And F3 is more stable than F2 and F1 and so forth?

I know this has been discussed before but can't find the thread.

@Totemic Back crossing as far as my limited knowledge goes is really to strenthen some trait you like.. Could be completely wrong here.. I'm not there yet and might never be..😁👌

Eg. crossing a F3 with a F3? But doesn't that result in a F4?

Sorry to hi-jack your thread @GreenGrow Garden Route

Yeah.. The thing is with breeding.. it becomes real involved.. I enjoy playing with it a bit and I like indoor and outdoor growing and I'm mediocre at most.. But I really enjoy it.. My main thing is not growing.. But supplying good quality medium ext. to growers that like a, more or less, no fuss grow and still enjoy good quality home grown that might not be a cup winner, but really satisfies.. I've grown several of the forum members creations and not once have I been dissapointed.. Our local breeders have no need to feel inferior to anny...

Yes it does but I think pheno playes a major role to. Selecting the correct partners and all and all.. This is a topic in itself.. Maybe the masters could start a thread on the toppic.. It woild be real informative..👌👍🌱

Back crossing is when you cross an F3 for eg. Back to one of the parents. Not just any plant from the same F2 generation, but the exact parent plant(usually the male, but you can reverse backcross onto a female too)

You'd do this because a trait(most likely recessive) has popped up in the F3 based on your male selections that you'd like to see more often in the next generation.

The goal is to ensure you get a double copy of the gene expression to make it dominant.

Backcrossing is a way of stabilizing and locking in traits.

It's interesting to note that a backcross brings as much stability as 3 filial generations worth of selections.

What makes breeding a challenge is that while you are trying to select for good traits, there are undesirable traits that need eliminating too, so a backcross does not translate to a good cross necessarily and selections will always be important.

So the F3 testers were harvested. Have not done a count yet but it looks to close to a 100 or so beans. These will be grown to see if the LGO has become stable at all. Had a good puff on the left overs and I'm satisfied with the terpene profile and kick.. If anny body in Cape Town is keen on trying these I'll be more than happy to share.👌👍🌱 40 beans up for grabs.. Have a awesome weekend growmies..

Awe, stoked we can go forward on the forum @DesignatedDave Jou yster. 👏👏✌️👍🌱🌲🔥

What a wild few years it's been, wow..

So at long last I am at this girl again.. Struggling with the germination as the beans truely have not been kept under the optimum conditions unfortunately.

Have a few F2 and F3s on the go and will finally decide if she's worth keeping. After working with a few hard hitting legendary strains in the past few years it might be hard for me to admit she does not tick the boxes, but let's see.

@Bay Seeds

Knocking it out the park lately buddy..🔥🌱🌲

Below a few picks of the babies and what I worked with the last few years.

Happy flowering season guys and gals..🔥🌱🌲

      'Olla Bromigos!
Getting started a little later this year than last, rain around this time in my neck of the woods played havoc with seedlings last year.
For this Season I am firmly in the Local is Lekker corner, and will be running a bunch of @Totemicand some @Bay Seeds sourced a while ago from the Legends at @Cannabist. Thank you all for the great deal and freebies! Very grateful and super keen 🙃

So here we go! Up first 2 each of:
      Totemic - Green Gelato. Reg
      Totemic -Strawberry Deluxe. Fem
Totemic - Strawberry Sugar Cookies. Fem
Bay Seeds - AK Royal x Lemon Jedi X Choc Gelato. Reg
Totemic - Gelato x Cherry CBD. Reg

All seeds soaking since 4PMish, dechlorinated water with a spritz of Biodyne and BioBizz Root juice.
Some king sized seeds, some so big they got stuck in the container and needed prying out.

Very keen to get started! Some will go straight into pots from here, others via ziploc and paper towel route. Don't have enough side plates to separate 5 diff strains in paper towels etc. Will give the Fems the special treatment and let the Regs go au natural.

Good evening my fellow green fingers..
Below a T-1000 gifted to me by Bay Seeds. This litlle girl is going strong and showed sex about a week ago. I potted her up yesterday and she seems to not have been disturbed at all. I will be keeping this updated on a weekly basis from now on. Expecting this girl to be huge so will be training her from early on.
