@Totemic Yes, the more i look into this the more i realize we fucked up. They shouldn't  have been labled autos. We flowered them under 18/6 and i thought its all cool. I honostly thought the autoflowering gene was the dominant gene and breeding with any autos would result in autos. I dont want to makè something cool and not be able to keep clones. Those 290 seeds are sold out and gone and the weird part is the reviews coming in are all positive.

All part of the learning curve. I dont think it ever stops. Autos are actually a good place to learn from your plants, as you have a few extra visually confirmable traits to select from. Working with the same lines you really get to know what a parent can add or take away from the progeny after a while. Once you get to the next generation you get more choice as previously recessive traits start showing up as dominant.

How much stress testing do you do on your plants? I for example run 24/7 veg to root out autos from my populations.

Youd most certainly need to run and test different veg cycles, as I'm sure you'll find plants on a scale... ie they might veg in 20/4, but flower trigger at 14 hours etc.

@Totemic   I set my veg light for 24/7, and I'm keeping it that way,. Its always been on 18/6. And I'm sticking to photo's from now on. I learned a lot about recessive genes these last few days. I learned why a third of my F3's looked like a completely different pheno and me thinking I was hit with stray pollen shelved them. And i realized my mission going forward is the duck foot gene. Having that recessive gene in a stable regular would be something to work for. In the early days we just cranked up the heat, to look for hermies and a few got pulled. We haven't had any problems with herms so far. We are finally at the point where we are crossing males from Dark horse and solfire gardens with dutch passion and humboldt genetics. This mistake wont happen again.

@zolrooker They had a big shock when i transfered them to soil. Still stunted but at least all 5 alive. After the heavy rain last weekend im having ph problems and a few lockouts outdoor.  The Dr grinspoon looks weird and hardly has any bud, but its loaded with seeds. Should make interesting crosses. Everything is pollinated.

@Psylecta @Psylecta When the new seeds are ready ill let you know. Watching the grow diaries are worth it. OG Kush by dna genetics crossed with lemon jedi. The motherplant was tiny and grown outdoor in winter and flowered way too early. Still i got 73 seeds. The Choc mint OG same story , tiny. 28 seeds. Not enough to ever sell but still 101 very special seeds. Il keep a few aside.

@Psylecta @Psylecta All F1's, im pretty sure they will be at least good. Dont think better. The guys from DNA,Humboldt,Dark horse really know their stuff. They use biotech testing to screen for any hermaphroditic traits. So im betting the offspring will be at least be herm free. But yes, this time of year they will thrive. I didnt want to wait for them to reveg. More excited for the seeds.

They definitely know their stuff, success doesn't come without it that's for sure.

When are you planning on planting this new batch?

Do you perhaps have a website? (Wanted to browse through your different strains or are they all logged here on forum?)

Again anytime you need a tester am always happy to help local breeders build their name by logging a grow on forum and spreading the word  -

There's a strong market for localised genetics as I feel 90% of growers will buy local should the genetics be superior/on par with strains sourced internationally & developed with our climate in mind etc, sure the breeder will still rely & have to buy new genetics internationally, but that doesn't mean the average grower should be sourcing their stuff overseas and paying premium+import duties when there's perfectly dank strains/phenotypes being isolated & bred locally

There's a huge gap in the market here in RSA which can be easy filled by locals if the government scraps the plant count or issues growing licenses for those that need to grow more than the prescribed quantity - not only does this generate much needed revenue it will also indirectly create many entrepreneurship opportunities for small/medium businesses & jobs will follow whereas only focusing on commercial wholesale/export opportunities like saphra does little to address the dire state of unemployment and lack of opportunity for the little fish in a emergimg market and this is a huge shame - the little guy should be given first opportunity then open up to the corporations instead of letting corporations corner and create a monopoly in the market which in turn will permanetlky shut the lil guy out as these corporations will lobby hard to keep the market to themselves

Marx was right with his critisism of Capitalism, its inherently flawed & doomed to fail eventually (especially with central banks printing their way out a crises - highest global unemployment rate ever yet stock markets at all time highs) the laissez faire system will only benefit those who already have and leave behind the have nots, always been like this and little going to change until the revolution arrives

That's my political/philosophical rant for the day lmao - time for a joint

I agree. I also think if someone is passionate and has the means they are probably at it already, but it'd be nice if the funds were taxable and a benefit to all. Unfortunately the use of our tax in the country is also a contended issue at the moment, so even that as a benefit is misleading.

Yip our tax goes to bailouts for SOE's and spent on pointless inquiries like Zondo - the leaks already revealed all the bullshit & corruption, so why when people go on the street to protest the goverments response is a commision to get to the bottom of this lmao and in the process they spending millions flying & feeding these assholes just to have them bullshit their involvement and point the finger elsewhere - all hearsay and finger pointing of everyone's accounts but no investigation from hawks?? would be cheaper to freeze & auction their assets off as proceeds of crime badaboom badabing

Lol no need to go to China or Venezuela lol I'm not commie or socialist or for any one system, history has proved none work as intended, capitalism does work for the most part, man couldn't of achieved all the advancements across a variety of fields without it, but at a huge cost to society in general - my only issue with capitalism is only from an ethical/moral standpoint & people like Milton Friedman who believe because shareholders own the company therefore they the only spoke on the wheel that matters.....(like Michael Douglas's character in Wallstreet) if thats the case then companies dont need employees and the shareholders should report for work at company lmao......good luck with that Mr Friedman - can't have profits without employees.....

its like the old argument what came first, chicken or egg? One things for sure regardless of who came first,  the cock needs to cum first (excuse the pun) for the chicken to lay an egg......am starting to forget the point of this now:-hilarious:sillyass:-moonwalk

@Psylecta I hate paying R1000+ for a pack of 10 seeds when im pulling hundreds upon hundreds of seeds off a single big plant. Made me realize how greedy the big company's are with those giant grow rooms. Thats why my seeds will never be over a R100 for 5. I feel thats fair. I dont mind being the budget seed guy . More people end up growing my strains.

Yeah most definitely agree, would love to know what their actual overheads are for developing a single strain and then overheads for the operation as a whole - would be able to get a fair idea of the markup (probably cents on a $ - easily 1000%+ markup)

As a general grower yeah prices for top genetics from guys like Ethos & in-house is a little pricey (especially with our currency - Canadians don't consider $300 for 10 seeds expensive when you pay $120 for 14g)

Breeders have it a lil easier as theyll eventually recoup their investment 1000 fold on the first batch of seeds.

R100 for 5 seeds is a great price as long as you making a living too

There's nothing wrong with selling a product at an affordable price that's suits the consumers budget in this day and age.

This Totemics Chocolate gelato F2 male has pollinated every plant in my yard and two other locations. It looks rough because its been moved around alot and we break off and collect the pollen of about half of the pollen sacks. You simply break them off into a glass jar. Dip a paintbrush and paint pistils. Every single white hair sees the brush.  Every other plant is female. Being crossed with.

I'm kind of struggling indoors, the Frisian duck and one strawberry cough really didn't like being transplanted into bigger pots with new soil. The 3 gray pots are all strawberry coughs I'm trying to reveg. 2 have started new growth. I flushed the Frisian duck adjusted the nutes and ph so let's hope she makes it. The others are omg and braincake. Just keeping them in veg for as long as possible. Outside everything is ok and going to plan.

We emptied out the tent and moved them all outdoors. It's 12+ hours of sunlight outside and I don't want to keep vegging the sick Frisian duck and the one strawberry cough. Everything outside seems to be thriving. The male is almost done. He pollinated a shitload of ladies. So with the omgs and braincake only starting to flower now, they will not really really get pollinated much or at all. At least ill have some better size buds for smoking compared to a pollinated plant. There is still way too much outside pollen to start making a feminized cross inside now. I'm rather going to do this regular auto cross. I saw an 8 seed pack of regulars, Russian fuel from Flash seeds, and realized it's a pack of regular autos. That crossed with a 3 seed pack of strawberry cola fem autos from exotic. It's arriving in a day or two. Always looking forward to new seeds. This phone puts this weird green tint filter on the pic. They're not that weird shade of green.

Ok, so inside I started some new seeds straight into soil. Always a stressful time. Nothing to see yet 48h.. I only started one seed of each. Will be getting some freedom farms soil soon from @GreenGrow Garden Route. I really don't want to have nutrient issues and using premium soil just feels safer for these fast autos. Outside, everything seems to be going ok again, with some plants losing color. The birds eating seeds and buds are a real problem at the moment.20210325_120832.thumb.jpg.016a7ea173e7201201444442cc4f482d.jpg
