Also when looking at a pure indica vs hybrids... The hybrids seem to be where its at thc wise. I dunno why, although that's been my brief observation. You do get some higher thc sativa dominant strains but the the indica dominant ones seem to have slightly higher thc still. This is based on the percentages provided by the breeders though. It comes down to the criteria we judge the pictures against and this is posted on the first post of each competition. Point #1 is originality, we look for pictures which we feel are original and creative. Something you don't see everyday. @trichomechaser you take some amazing pictures and I've stated this multiple times before. Although as has already been mentioned, the type of pictures you typically take are not exactly original or creative in the sense that it feels like something out of a breeders catalogue - go browse some seedbank sites and you'll see a lot of similar pictures showing off a flowering plant. This isn't a competition about who has the best bud shot or best looking flowering plant, it's the best snapshot. I didn't start these comps and was not involved in starting them up or the criteria the pictures are judged on, although I feel they're quite fair. If it were about who had the best budshot then the plant(s) you're growing would play a big role and you'd need a decent setup to get studio quality pictures. This competition needs to be fair for as many people as possible. It's still a competition so unfortunately using a cellphone from 10 years ago with a 2MP camera probably won't cut it as the picture quality will be pretty shitty. Some photography skill certainly plays a role but I'd not the only determining factor as well as the type of camera one uses, I suspect majority of pics are taken with peoples cell phones anyway and that's perfectly fine, although it needs to be in focus at least. This is the criteria the pictures are judged on.

Not sure if it's just the pics but looks like you need to do another defol. Quite a Bush you got going there. I did a defol on my plants last night and adjusted them a bit, will see how it's looking tonight once they've adjusted and take it from there but light penetration is already much better. Nice man! @KaktusBoer why the hydroton on top of your coco perlite mix? I also run coco and perlite with fertigation, although use a different automatic watering system. That is a lot of water and nutes to waste. I must admit, I know with coco you're meant to water until runoff to avoid a nute imbalance and high EC environment in the coco but I have been lazy and so far have not noticed any negative side effects. @Ill_Evan with my QB's (well, we all have the same), when dimmed for seedlings, you can have it like 10cm away and it wont be an issue. I wouldn;t say one is more important than the other but higher up will give a better coverage and in your tent I think that is more wanted - especially with a scrog. So greater distance from the plants and then higher watts to compensate for the distance. @KaktusBoer There is no need to run the lights at their very max, LEDs are more efficient when running them below max capacity. Running them at max will lead to increased heat and a shorter lifespan on the LEDs, higher electricity bill for not all that much more output than a few w less. I don't see much need to run them past 90w per QB (so 360w in your case) when they're often stated as capable of 120W each.

Yeah, I think @CreX pretty much nailed what you'd require. In terms of lights, I love LED's and I personally run QB's. I have tried strips and they work well too but I have never purchased enough strips to cover my area as it was more experimenting but strips are a decent option too especially if you are willing to do a little DIY (can you drill holes? Can you mount stuff? etc.) I am not a big fan of COB's as their coverage typically sucks, in a smaller tent you could maybe get away with it but still when someone mentions COB's I think of hot spots and then barely any useful light outside of that area. I am actually going to be putting up some LED strips for sale soon, 3x LED strips around 60cm each, Samsung F Series strips (So LM561C diodes IIRC) and will include heatsinks, Meanwell LED driver and a potentiometer to allow one to dim the lights. Will be capable or around 150W You're welcome to drop me a PM if you are interested, lights can get pricey and they will only be costing more going forward once local stock has dried up and companies need to import new stock - exchange rate is going to fuck everything for us soon. Tent wise, 80 x 80 to 1m x 1m sounds alright, check out what @Ill_Evan is doing with his 80 x 80 tent. He managed 2 plants quite nicely in his tent, even better in his previous grow where he used a scrog net. I feel two of your biggest choices will be: What lights are you going to get - very important as the plants use the light for photosynthesis and weaker lights will be felt. What medium do you plan on growing with? Soil? Coco? Hydro? Lights will most likely be your highest cost as well. Also don't forget a carbon filter if the smell may be a problem, a carbon filter will help clean the air being pushed out your tent. It can get smelly at times and can lead to unwanted attention depending on where you are growing and your living circumstances etc. Do you have any plans to move over to a larger grow or not really? Would you like links to every product we recommend or?

I am talking about powdery mildew, not mold. Although this is what I have heard being said, not sure about it either to be honest.

Don't think anyone is going to reply to you on Facebook, I personally wouldn't want that info just left out there in the open either but it's your choice I guess. I bud wash, but have never done so with already dry bud. All the research I have done says not to budwash once the bud is already dry as the chance of losing trichomes is higher and the chance of getting budrot and mold are also increased. With that being said, people say it's alright to smoke bud with powdery mildew *shrugs* also I believe you can still use it to make extracts, so you can make dab or rosin or oil with the bud which has powdery mildew and apparently it's safe.

Yeah, Postnet use Aramex... If you were going to use Aramex they have those store to door dropboxes which are meant to be overnight and costs the same as Postne to Postnet. Although if they notice the smell coming from your package, you may be in trouble. I was speaking to one of the guys at my local Postnet when shipping a thermometer to someone and we somehow ended up on the topic of drugs, I think he asked me what I was shipping as they have to always ask so I opened the box to show him what was inside. Apparently if they suspect it may be dodgy and he says it's often quite blatant the person is trying to hide something they tell the courier guys to check the parcel when they come to pick it up. Now I doubt every Postnet employee really cares and does this, but it certainly does happen. Postnet wouldn't be my first choice if I were to ever ship bud. I wouldn't recommend it either.

Yeah, it is actually easier to decide to just cut all / most of the fan leaves off than carefully take a look and see which ones should go. haha When you have a couple of plants, even more so! Lower RH won't be a bad thing, especially for flowering. I've been doing some IPM to make sure I do not get any PM and did a spray for pests before they started flowering so hopefully I am good on that front. Remember that shit weed we vaped? Yeah, don't want that to happen again. I neglected that grow quite badly.

Welcome! Hmm, I have not heard much about revegging a plant after harvest - typically people scrap the plant after harvesting it. I have had one friend try it on his outdoor, he managed to keep it alive but he said it was not the same and did not perform well the next season. How far into flower are you? Could you consider revegging it now to try and save the pheno?

Haha, you and I are in the same boat regarding defoliation. I have also left my current plants with more leaves as well as more bud site, see how it turns out. Doing a defol def seems to help reduce the transpiration the plants do and therefore it does appear to affect the RH, in my experience at least.

Using an ATX power supply to power 2 or 3 small 120mm fans is overkill I feel and 1.5a should probably be more than sufficient. The wallwarts are often rated at continuous output anyways, I don't feel its a big deal. Not with something like fans and typically 12v wallwarts would be at least 1A so not something you really need to worry about. Also with SMPS, often you need to run them at a higher current to get the best efficiency - so if you say have a 1000W power supply, if you are only drawing 200W it wont be as efficient as if you were drawing say 750W. So drawing less can sometimes mean a worse efficiency actually and therefore would draw more power as wastage than if you were running the power supply at a higher percentage of its max capability... I hope that makes sense. Go dig in your cupboard and see if you have a wallwart from an old router, switch or some random electronic device you probably don't need anymore. As long as its 12v and the current rating is sufficient, it shouldn't be an issue. PC fans can work pretty well in a smaller area or if you have no other option as an inline fan is too expensive. Find a 12v wallwart power supply and use that, best you have a multimeter handy to check which is positive and which is negative and then just wire it up to the PC fan. You need something to power the LED's, as they require DC power. Meanwell make good quality power supplies / LED drivers (same thing). You do not have to get a Meanwell power supply, there are other companies which also make power supplies, however due to the reliability of Meanwell I feel they have become the standard when one is looking for a power supply for their LED lights. Some of the cheaper ones have a fan and do not output the rated power and can have failures within a year of use - the Meanwell ELG and XLG range have a 3 year warranty I think, I know the HLG has a 7 year warranty... Maybe the ELG has 5 years and XLG 3 years. Regardless its pretty long and considering how often a power supply is on when you growing, it's nice to have the warranty for just incase and for peace of mind. A cheaper power supply will have cheaper parts, the last thing you want is for a cap or another part to blow and become a hazard in your grow area. Also Meanwell have a good efficiency, all of the above mentioned ranges are over 90% efficient, with the HLG being the most efficient - so less power wastage and less heat.

I sometimes wonder about this a bit too, if you have a sativa and let it mature heavily until the trichomes are mostly amber, the effects are similar to that of an indica. The fact that a lot of plants nowadays are hybrids... I dunno, what are your thoughts?

Geez, no wonder! That is shocking that they're selling something like that. Not only is the alu absorbing the heat from the QB's but the led driver too if its attached to the alu. Unfortunately it seems people are going to these extremes to make extra profit as opposed to supplying a quality product. For a while I've been trying to see how I can make quantum boards more cost effective and have come across a few issues, I can't believe they're selling them just like that. Heat will reduce the lifespan of the LED's and the performance will deteriorate a lot quicker. So by the time you're on your 2nd or 3rd grow the LED's won't be as potent compared to when they were new. Migro did a nice video comparing some led lights after a few of usage I think or something like that to see how the diodes held up and what their output was like compared to when it was new. Like other growing lights, LED's do not last forever and they drop in strength as time goes on. I believe Formula 1 is coco and perlite, I'd say use 5.9 to 6.3 as your oh range rather. Once again, you don't have to but I'd let the plant veg for a big longer and get a bit bigger in 20l pots before I flip. The size of the plants affect your yield as well. I like to grow my plants out a bit more and then lollipop them, helps with airflow below the canopy and if you're watering my hand makes it a bit easier too as there is a bit of space between to get your watering can in there and not wet the leaves. When you say build quality, what exactly are you referring to? The overall light? The way the QB is mounted to the heatsink and the LED driver? Do Onlinegrowshop not use Meanwell drivers?

Without having equipment to test the lights, you'd need to try it and see what happens. I know people have vegged with LED flood lights with good results. I doubt the plants will die, although I think they may stretch a bit more than usual and be a bit scrawny. If it is your only option, go for it.
