Naughty.Psychonaut
Wana start brewing some tea for the girls, I will be using a 15L bucket, but will only do 10L batches at a time. What size pump will work best for this? Any recommendations?

Naughty.Psychonaut
@SkunkPharm Thanks man Saw this on futurama website, but I'm sure I can get it cheaper somewhere else, but would this guy be able to do the work? Anything bigger than this would be air compressor pumps, but would that really be necessary to agitate 10L of water? They also cost over 1k so there is a big price gap, but I'll do it if I need really need to.
CreX
What's up yo!! When you have a gap take a look at my teas section! But for your simple setup, the pump you displayed will be good enough, but if you do want to upgrade your style... Then the little compression pump is way better.. What goodies are you gonna be putting in the tea bru? (pun intended)
SkunkPharm
Ok you can build a propper brewer for half the cost of a vortex brewer from Jamie. The pump from futurama will work but will limit you if you want to use it for bigger tea production. See the hortishop link below. They have electomagnetic air pumps and ultimately this is whay you need. If you are really interrested go to the youtube KIS organics channel. They have a video on there brewer on there. https://hydroponic.co.za/hydroponics/air-pumps/

SkunkPharm
I just brew in a bucket with a pump. But will soon invest in something better.
Naughty.Psychonaut
@CreX Thanks a ton man, really enjoyed all that info. Will go have a look see at those youtube videos just to get the idea of the vortex brewer concept, but it seems straight forward! When I got my brewer brewing I'll go back to your page with all the recipes, for sure!! Thanks again! @SkunkPharm Sweet, that price is actually not too bad, think I been looking at the wrong compressors! I'm assuming that little guy does not run quiet?
Naughty.Psychonaut
Took a while to get a hold of the pump, but finally got it! I had my mind on the air lift tech, but made this configuration, because it looked cool and I had extra pipe and fittings are cheap and I had a lot of fun doing it. It's basically all submerged except for the pipes that exit the bucket on the sides and that also helps keep the piping down and in the water, also allows me to close the bucket to reduce noise and spillage. All the pipes disconnect so can easily pack it away and keep it in the box of extras. As I had my mind made up already, I also made a vortex, but by cutting the hole for the drain plug made the bucket single purpose only, so will have to get another bucket if I ever wanted to use the bubbler, but used the same two holes on the side of this bucked and just made a 25mm hole in the bottom. Whole project took me about 45min, but stretched out over like a period of a month! Mostly because water proofing all the connections, but still allowing it to be taken a part for cleaning was a real hassle and then the wait for the pump. Probably gona still do a bunch of "upgrades", but for now I'm happy! Gona give 24h to get rid of chloramine, then add ingredients.
oldsandals
Awesome! Whats going to be your starting inoculant? Worm Castings? I find that AACT takes some getting used to, and over brewed teas not so good. I'm not a tea expert though, but done it enough.
Naughty.Psychonaut
I've got ff premium mix here, was thinking of taking some soil from a nice fresh patch in the mountain here, also got liquid vermipure here with so much bacterial colonies inside the bottle and it smells very nice. My plants are going into flower now, any special ingredients you know about for pushing those flowers?
SmokeyZero
Awesome build there brother. Have a look at one of the dairies called teas,teas... by Crex, really loaded with information and recipes for some lekker AACT. This stuff is great and do wonders to the plants. 1

CreX
Looking really proper man!! @Naughty.Psychonaut Nice work on the preemptive checking for leaks and disassembly for easy cleaning! You gotta show us how the maiden brew goes 1
Naughty.Psychonaut
Well, fuck. Had her on a towel the first night cause I couldn't find a bucket / drip tray big enough, but the towel couldn't soak up what leaked out. I'm super fucking glad I have my plugs and all electronics raised off the floor, woke up with a puddle around the thing yesterday. Luckily it was just clean water!!! Looks like I won't he able to take it apart completely the way I wanted to, because it's the pvc cement you use to secure the pipe fittings that makes it water proof. So for now I will glue her down and just keep the whole thing like that. Atleast I can disconnect the hose from the air pump and the bucket itself it fitted with a threaded drain plug so I can screw that loose if I need to.
CreX
Ah shit man! I have had similar issues! I opted for as few pieces outside the bucket as possible for this reason! But to be honest, my vortex brewer also leaks if I don't fit the pipes tight enough. So my whole system is glued water tight except one conduit and 90 degree bend that I push on and off to drain the thing. I'll try update my vortex thread with more specific things that iv done to get it to work and shit. You aren't the first to wake up to an empty brewer and a puddly floor
Naughty.Psychonaut
Well, I got her sealed all around and no more leaks. Bought a tub of "stag" from Agrimark. We use it on metal to metal water pipe connections for them to not get leaky over long time. It's like the "if all else fails" solution. She made her first brew and got poured off today, will feed the plants tonight. Didn't wana do anything too fancy since I'm still learning and only had few ingredients. I used ff premium classic mixed with some local soil from the earth, 1tbsp of trichcoderma, 100ml liquid vermipure and 30ml molasses. It really smells nice, must be the molasses. Got some bacterial build up inside the bucket, poured it off into another bucket and cleaned the vortex bucket and pipes and all. One problem, I noticed when I put the tea bag with all the goodies inside it breaks the vortex stream. So it just kinda moves around, but no vortex. I think I'm gona do a rebuild, using just one stream instead of two, hoping to increase the flow. I'm not sure if it will work, but I'll see. The ''teabag'' thing also messed with my setup- no vortex and all kinds of bits, sand and floaters etc. Tried a different technique, to avoid any solids in my brew bucket.Pour the ''solid ingredients'' from your teabag into a seperate bucket, add a few liters of water and stir vigorously to extract as much goodness and micro organisms as possible. Strain the ''mush'' and add that liquid to the brew bucket. Repeat. Then add nutrient source and molasses. It might not be 100% efficient at extracting all the goodness out of the solid material due to shorter contact time with the water, but its damn close. Works well for me, can't tell the diffs. Naughty.Psychonaut
I'll definitly try that, before the rebuild. I might even attach the bubbler I made to the pump and bubble the water with the tea bag in it for a few hours before then do the strain and pour that into the vortex. Thanks for the tip!
Naughty.Psychonaut
This is my second one I'm doing like this, seems to work, only thing I put in a seperate container is the teabag with some FF premium and local soil from a healthy patch. I also scoop 1L from the vortex and add my molasses to that and stir till that's dissolved and pour it back. Luckily I have liquid vermi pure so add that directly to the vortex. Then I have a bunch of microbial addatives, but decided to go with "eco-T" as it dissolves in the water itself where as the mycorrizhae will just float and I already got it mixed in the soil aswell as the mycoroot from hortishop, but those are small stones so I will keep them out for now. Anyway, here is my pooptea
Bos
All my brew gear is outside, use a fountain pump for vortex and circulation and a dual output aquarium airpump for added aeration in a 25lt bucket with lid. Have tried numerous mixes and most of them come out awesome with the ''mentioned'' method. Have found that I need to stay below 24hrs on the brew (usually 18hrs) or it starts going funky.Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

Naughty.Psychonaut
@Bospatrollie2 I rent where I stay and there is nowhere to keep the setup outside without it being exposed to the elements. We get super harsh winds making it virtually impossible to keep a nice garden outside without a decent wind screens and I'm not allowed to put up any roofs or walls. At the moment the vortex is about 4m from where I sleep and the tent and all not far from that, so the noise is real. Any specific things you know of that one can add to increase P? Have a few ladies in flower that I'm sure will appreciate it!
