  1. Hey, that's your first grow, right? I am sure you'll get some good smoke from that harvest. And you learned how to meet precautions against bud rott and avoid it during your next grows. I grow outdoors and let me tell you there are so many lessons to be learned and some of them can hurt a lot. As for the seeds you found being autoflowers... It depends on where the pollen comes from. If you neighbour grew a male photoperiod plant and your plant has been pollinated by that one, it's difficult to say what genetic traits will be expressed. I found a seed in one of my autos last year a grew it out for fun as I wondered about the same thing. It turned out to be automatic, but it also turned out to be male. Just give it a try.
  2. Really looking exciting Dave! Going to follow this one. @StonerZN, I believe OKC stands for Orange Kush Cookies. A strain that's making the rounds here and which I heard good things about! Dave pls correct me if I am wrong.
  3. Thanks man ! Sure I'll post another one before she gets chopped. I am super curious how potent the bud from her will be.
  4. Thank you @420SAand the whole 420 fam! I'll be wearing the batch with pride! I feel that I should share how the lady from the street looks like now. She's busy going into flower mode. And this is a clone I took from her. Enjoy your Sunday farmers!

    What is this???

Looks like some kind of scale. The live in symbiosis with ants. The ants get sugar from them. https://www.thoughtco.com/scale-insects-and-mealybugs-superfamily-coccoidea-3634995
  6. Hi, whatever you do, test your spray on a small branch first. I had the beginning of a red spider mite infestion 14 days ago. Like an idiot I sprayed Pyrol the very first evening after I spotted these bastards. Without doing my research first as I want to get rid of pests before flowering starts. I followed the dosage recommendation on the bottle (20-40ml/liter). I chose to add 30ml and "drowned" all my plants with the mix. Only later I found out that a member here has recommended to not use more than 10ml/liter of water. My plants are suffering from phytotoxicity since two weeks now because of this. They burn a bit more each day. Some more some less. I tried washing it off, nothing helps. My Strawpicanna was the most promising plant and it's suffering most. It was a regular seed that cost me 330 rand and I was so happy to see she's female after 4 months of mainline training. Very heartbreaking to see her burning and not being able to stop it. Don't know if she'll ever recover but I have kind of given up on her. I thought posting this might prevent others from doing the same mistake. Mites are gone though.
  7. Yes, but coolj had the PM issue inoors it seems. My take on it is to start over as suggested by others. Taking clones might make sense if it's aphotoperiod plants, but it's an auto, right? There are a few different factors that come into play when it comes to PM, in my opinion. Some strains are more resistant to PM than others. Also if a plant is healthy and strong or weak plays a big role. PM has a tough time getting hold on a plant that is happy and healthy. I only grow outdoors. In my garden PM showed up this whole season but my plants haven't caught anything yet. Preventative measures are key outdoors. And as Prom stated, it's more difficult to prevent PM outdoors than indoors. I did the following outdoors and it worked well so far (fingers crossed). PM doesn't like direct sunlight and good airflow. Keep that in mind, when you choose your grow spot. PM shows up on the lower parts of the plant, at least that's what it did when I had it. The sunlight and airflow is restricted in the lower parts of the plant. Defoliation of the lower part helps. Do not take off too much, but enough to allow good airflow. I use AQ-sf as a preventative measure, as suggested by psyclown already. It's a fungy native to SA, which eats up PM. But it's used to prevent PM. And that's the keyword when it comes to pm: prevention. Again, I would start over. The PM on your plants is in a very advanced state. As soon it's on the actual flower and no longer just visible on your leafes it's too late IMO. You could use the plant to experiment with milk mixtures and so on to learn, maybe. But do yourself a favour and don't smoke it. This is just my take on it, but I hope it helps.
  8. ...another one that is always delivering (grew 5 of them during the last years) is Brooklyn Sunrise auto from Dutch passion. This one is also busy curing, but I tested it already. The trepene profile first needs to come back, but the high is more Sativa leaning. As yhe name suggests, perfect for wake and bake. It starts with a strong but not overwhelming euphoria that leaves you quite functional. I have to do stuff when I smoked it. Once the high wears off it doesn't leave me being tired, which is important for me when it comes to choosing a day time smoke. I can recommend this one too.
  9. I promised to post when my Gorilla Cookies auto from fastbuds is done. I harvested it around two weeks ago and it's busy curing. It's quite a frosty plant, easy to grow. The yield isn't exceptional but ok for an auto that was grown outdoors. I filled two of those consol 1liter glasses. Of course I test it from time to time, to see how the curing is going. It's one of the tastiest autoflowers I had so far. It smells gassy and tastes like cream cookies. The high is a super relaxing couch lock. Perfect for an evening in front of the TV. I would grow it again and can definitely recommend this strain.
  10. I do currently grow one of Totemic's strains. I have to add I am a test-grower, so I got the beans for free. But think about it, these strains have been bred, selected and tested here in South Africa. I think especially for an outdoor farmer it's a good idea to chose locally bred genetics. These are happy with the climate and they seem to be hardier, when it comes to locally found pests and fungal deseases. I grow many of the high end genetics like Oni seeds and in house genetics and so far Totemics genetics are growing as good as the US genetics. Of course I can't say anything about the end product yet, but I got the feeling it will be fire.
  11. I'd love to try the volcano! The first and only vaporizer I bought was the arizer solo. I bought it 5 years ago and use it nearly daily ever since. I only needed to replace the batteries once so far. I am very happy with it! I think it cost 3000 Rand back then. By now they released the arizer solo 2, which is in a similar price range. I dream of getting the "mighty" one day... Edit: I think, if you use it daily and it lasts for years it's worth buying it, even if it's one of the more expensive models. The cheap ones might just disappoint you and you might just not use it anymore after a couple of sessions.
  12. Hi, I'd say there's no harm in keeping her, unless you haven't got enough space. That being said, I am sure she will not deliver, what she would have delivered under normal circumstances. I had a Gelato auto from fastbuds this year and I really looked forward to grow it as Prom recommended it. It broke soil surface without the two round leaves (forgot how they're called). They must have somehow broken off, while trying to reach the surface. That plant grew 2 cm in 4 weeks. Then I gave up on her.
  13. @Ill_Evan, I really don't want to leave, but it seems like there's no way around eventually. Until then I'll do everything to do my part to make this country a better place. South Africa needs unity rather than devision. I agree, it seems like government tries to tear this place down to "make" a "new" South Africa, that matches their ideas. I am not sure if I like that (I don't ) and it kind of worries me, as they are literally playing with peoples lives. And they are aware of it. I am serious about the visiting part bro :). Stay high, healthy and above things folks!
  14. I heard they got something like a breathalizer here that can detect THC? I am not sure where I heard that... But in general I think it's not too risky driving around here (apart from the common risks on the road here, hehe). I used to travel on the N2 close to Cape Town for four years and I never got stopped. I saw maaaany people driving on Fridays that where clearly intoxicated though. I didn't know you where German @Ill_Evan? I guess one of your parents is German? Yeah, times are rough at the moment. It actually seems like it's going to be better to go to Germany in the long run. My children have been growing up here so far, but I think I owe them going to Germany as the future is uncertain here. I guess it's uncertain everywhere but the chances of a good life for my children when they are grown up are better in Germany. We plan on going in around three years when my little one is about to school. If you should come to Germany by then my doors are open man. You can pop in for a smoke of homegrown bud that hasn't been laced with anything, lol.
  15. They used little stripes which they swiped off on a sweaty part of your body. It would show any of the common drugs you get. If any of these where showing positive, the cops would take you to the station and take a blood, hair or urin sample to determine how much of the substance is still in your system. Hair would obviously show if you're a long term user and not how stoned you are. In the blood or urin sample they where not looking for the active thc, but for the degradation product, which is gone after a day or two if you are not a regular user. But when you enjoy your medicine every day the degradation product will be consistently in your blood. Sometimes even after weeks of not smoking. That's why I still get paranoid when I see a cop on the road even though over here they've got other things to take care of. I think they are still strict in Germany, but they are heading towards some form of legalization over there too. I am afraid it will take another 10 year till legalisation and the regulation will be strict. I am not sure if they use a more sophisticated method to test for thc yet.
  16. Morning guys, as I grew up in Germany, let me share some first hand experience. If you got the right connections you'll get proper weed in Germany. But if you want to be on the save side you'll have to grow it yourself. I guess that's what we are all doing here in South Africa right? Anyway, it all comes down to prohibition. There used to be a time when some dealers would use additives like "brix" to add weight to the buds. Also you get stopped and tested for drugs randomly by the police. Thhe chances you'll get stopped is high. Most of my friends lost their drivers liscense that way. It's not easy to get it back as you need to go through a psychological examination. One wrong answer and you're done. Most of these friends still haven't got their liscense back. They have lost it more than 15 years ago. Imagine what kind of impact that has on your life. But that's another story. I used to order things from online smart shops when spice became a thing. They added a free sample of spice to one of my orders. Of course I got curious especially as it doesn't show up on the drug test (THC shows on the test even days after you've smoked. At least back then). So I gave it a try. It worked but I prefered the real stuff. A friend of mine ordered a few bags and ended up in psychotheraphy. It seriously messes up your brain chemistry. I don't think it's going to become a very popular thing here in SA. The market is going to be oversaturated with homegrown weed pretty soon. Prohibition is the culprit here. My advice: Avoid consuming synthetic stuff. Stick to substances that are closely related to what we already have in our bodies. Like THC and psilocybin. I am going off topic, lol.
  17. They worked faster recently, plus I have submitted it a year ago already. This has set me back by half a year at least and in the end the total waiting time for it to be processed could be ridiculous 4 1/2 years. You see, I will have to take care of the current visa to be extended and extended and extended again. That's quite a bit of money flying right out of the window every time. So yeah I might get back to you regarding that contact actually. It might even be cheaper and less work to do that instead of extending my visa time after time.
  18. @Prom, I saw you want to apply for the permanent residence. I applied for it a few months before the lockdown. A friend of mine applied a few weeks earlier than me and was lucky to get it just a week before the lockdown. I was excited about that, as I thought that when he got it I should get mine soon too. Not long ago I received an email telling me that DHA has changed it priorities and waiting time for processing the permanent residence will take 24-48 months from now on. I will not be around anymore by the time it's processed I guess. I hope you'll be lucky to get yours faster. I wanted to apply for the gun license too but now it seems that's not going to happen. We are covered though as my wife has one.
  19. Wooohoooo!!! I don't know what to say guys ....this is making my Christmas! It wasn't a great year so far, but this is just awesome. I never won anything in my life. Let's grow some fire! Congratulations to the others too!
  20. So, I was sitting in traffic looking out of the window of my car and saw something that caught my eyes. A real South African beauty on the side of the road. I felt sorry for her. She had to stand there day in day out and nobody helped her... ....I just couldn't get her out of my head. There wasn't one day I didn't think of her. Till I finally decided to dare it and take her home... ...she was grateful I took her in, but most of her roots where on the streets and she needed a lot of tender, loving care. I honestly thought one day I'll wake up and she's gone... ...but it didn't take long till she felt comfortable at her new home. By now she's the shining beauty she was when I first saw her. These days we're doing everything together. We even go to the beach, smoke bongs and enjoy the view... Guys, I hope you liked my little story. Happy growing and merry Christmas!!! Edit: credit for the last foto goes to @Onion who helped me with this. Thank you Onion!
  21. Ok, here's what I do but everyone has different ways I guess. As soon as I see flowers in an autoflower, I continue giving veg nutes for a week or so (that is if you give veg nutes). I do that as the plant will still stretch and the bigger the plant is before it goes into full flowering mode the better. 1-2 weeks after I see the first pistils I start adding bloom nutes only. But there are some "auto only growers" here in the forum. Prom for example has plenty of experience and grows exclusively autos as far as I know. He uses the Biobizz line and has an own feeding chart. I'm just not sure where to find it... But if you'd want to go that route you would need to invest a bit in Biobizz ferts which are worth the money though.
  22. You should be ok without nutes. Especially veg, as it seems like they are about to go into flower. They are going to like some bloom ferts though. It would work without bloom ferts but you'll get more out of them with bloom fertilizer in my opinion.
  23. I agree with Bakstein, beautiful pictures you took there! I warched some interesting videos on that topic. I'll see if I can find them and send you the links @Teal Smith.
  24. Yes @Teal Smith many people aren't aware that mushrooms are neither plants nor animals. They certainly don't get enough credit.
