  1. dude, go to the post I quoted you in first then scroll up one post......... you wrong in the first answer too. and I did answer the dudes question. go read carefully. edit - infact I answered him BEFORE I went on to make a comment about what you said. and I made a seperate post for it. so what now? still just a rant at your one liner? perhaps, don't drop one liners?
  2. biggest difference between a potted plant and something planted directly into the earth is the symbiosis. the way things work in a pot and in the earth is not the same. you'll have areas where even when adding eggshells to the soil directly in the earth it's still gona take long to break down. certainly longer than any of the Ca sources I mentioned there. Even in a compost heap hardened sources of calcium such as eggshells and bone is some of the stuff that takes the longest to break down. now when you powder it, it certainly does speed up the process, but you gotta remember it's powder now so you just don't see it in a big chunk anymore, but it's still there bro. Just cause you can't see it doesn't mean it's decomposed already and much less so providing the plant accessible Ca. It takes longer dude, this is general knowledge for gardeners. a healthy compost heap is the top of the tier list when it comes to decomposing organic matter. now you work your way back down that tier list and a potted plant will be at the very opposite end of the spectrum. egg shell take reeeeaally long to release any Ca, probably won't even really start decomposing in a pot cause there is way too little activity. you can do the tests yourself
  3. Bro, the gem of a town I grew up in is beyond fucked. The mainroad looks like a dump, garbage everywhere. The entrance to the Spar stinks like piss and shit, because of all the cultural richness empowering some individuals so much they couldn't even turn to their brother/sister/friend and say "hey, don't kak here where the people must walk"... Better not leave it up to a white person to have an opinion about it, they may aswell just go burn in hell, cause for a white man to point out that any other race is doing anything wrong in any kinda way, is the biggest crime out there today. no matter the fucking lights can't come on and the majority of the country is way below the poverty line, there are fokol jobs, half the people in the country are immigrants. no matter none of that, as long as you keep your mouth shut while the ANC give fucks us all. even their actual "fellow south africans" same like zimbabwe, couple years down the line and starvation runs the show, "leaders" begging farmers to come back I'll sit down a little later and type you out a nice DM bro, I see all these get rich quick schemes these guys are pumping your way, forget about all that bro. there is no real get rich quick scheme.
  4. hahah alright bro, I'll check my facts for ya. while I'm at it, can you please point me out or make up a good reason why you would compare eggshells to kryptonite just cause I said they take much longer to break down??? we leave our feelings at the door my guy. I am not trying to have a back and forth with you bud. Everything I say here is with good intention and simply because I don't appreciate the general misinformation people promote in the gardening community. It happens way too often that my granny takes some gardening advice from facebook and now her plants aren't doing well and I have to fix the problem. Well the problem wouldn't exist if it wasn't for people going around saying to put eggshells in their potted plants If you know all the extra steps you didn't mention before and shit that needs to be kept in check for breakdown of eggshells to make Ca available to the plant what are you trying to dodge here? You playing both sides bro, saying I am wrong but explaining the same shit I said. Did you read what I put in parenthesis literally right after mentioning the dolomite, that a very little bit goes a very long way cause it's very potent stuff...... yeah, that means don't over do it...... it's only when you over do it that your PH will swing, not just if there's too much in the soil for the plant to handle C'mon man? you know about the buffer in soil? cation exchange sites? a balance? Ca needs to be present in many different forms to balance the soil.... I'm talking bout Ca nitrate, Ca carbonate, Ca acetate, Ca chloride and the list goes on.... It's really not just as simple as "eggshell has calcium, put it in soil, now soil has calcium".
  5. brother.... you know how long it takes egg shell to release Calcium into the soil? not a viable option for providing a plant with accessible source of Calcium at all. this is old lady mumbo jumbo life hacks you see on these youtube family channels. you can put egg shells in your compost heap or worm bin to add Calcium to your final product, which will be ready in a few months only and only IF conditions are right. in a potted plant soil mix breakdown takes muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch longer heres something you can really do with your egg shells to make it of any kinda value directly to your plants. If you looking for a quick fix lazy way, you gotta go with some kinda natural lime such as dolomite (finer the dust the quicker the breakdown, very potent Calcium source, very little goes a very long way) agricultural lime mix, gardeners gold dust, bonemeal...... so many. but egg shells? Not gona do a thing unless you start to build your own soil and give it months to break down before actually using the soil.
  6. @TheLazyFisherman hope you are well brother the best seeds come from a healthy plant. a healthy plant does not require more of a certain thing at a certain time. a healthy plant requires a well balanced and maintained life cycle. when doing things the right way you will only need clean water from begin to end. if you're using nutrients it's cause your soil is lacking and unbalanced. (not gona touch on growing with synthetics cause I don't mess with that, you start with 0 and work from there, in which case you will have to adjust your regime) Keeping things organic, when a female plant makes seed you get a bit of a lack on the resin production side, female cannabis plants "instinctively" make the resin as a form of protection against natural pressure like the sun, bugs and animals. When they go unpollinated resin production will slightly increase to provide more protection in fear for being able to pass on their genetics. If they get pollinated they know their genetics will carry on and the plant will automatically use the energy that would have gone to the resin, now goes into making the seeds. You just gotta make sure the plant is as healthy as can be, and the rest will fall in place by itself. It's not exactly the "one specific nutrient" to make better seeds situation. that's some stuff you hear people say at the grow shop. - the absolute worst place to get growing advice. the best seeds comes from a healthy plant. and to get a healthy plant takes almost the exact same every time - a well balanced regime, not X nute more during certain times. unless you growing with salts then adjust adjust adjust is the name of your game anyway
  7. Sadly a couple of battaries is not gona fix this problem. Off grid just means with due time who ever "leads" will find a way to benefit more from it than you as an SA citizen ever will. You live in SA and show yourself to have any kinda spending money you gona loose, just a matter of time. Saving my money on gimmicks. We've reached a point where being positive about the future of our country is being ignorant. First move I'll make is getting off this continent. Not only away from SA. The "richness" and the forced respect for the "culture" and the "pride" of the people down here is the problem. The inability to face the truth and make a change is the problem. The clown politicians who we see on the tv are just there cause they're dumb enough to show their faces. They just come to deliver a speech, but we all know bigger hands are at play. There's very little to absolutely no impact on the circus if you think about changing out the clowns for different clowns. The music and the show will stay the same. The problem is much muuuuuuuuuuuuuch deeper than just the "leaders". It's the majority of the followers too. And it's not just their status' as leaders or followers. It's the collective mentality. The ego. The "african" roots has run rotten to its core. Literally the exact same kak that happened in Zimbabwe, word for word and step by step, is happening here too. Steep downhill to banana republic. Getting away from here ASAP, watch the shit pile burn from a far. Less than no hope for this sad place. You can be however optimistic in your views and say my view is whatever you feel or think it is, point is - thinking it's never going to happen to this country is ignorant, because we're much muuuuuuuuch closer to shit hitting the fan than anyone cares to realise or admit, but still people will be patriorical and argue with stupid phrases like "I was born here, I'll die for this country" thinking there is some turning point we have already passed the point of no return somewhere around 25 to 30 years ago. SA citizens just gave the benefit of the doubt for the longest time, cause there are some actual good people, but it has proven to be a fail. Being a good person in SA - the land of all the cultural richness - means absolutely fokol. Infact it counts against you and you'll be walked over. It's wakey wakey time, we're all from earth, we're allowed to enjoy life. No one should keep struggling like this. If the people from this country wana be proud of their destructive ways, then so be it, you really can't help anyone who doesn't want the help and that's a problem on our part - thinking they know they need help. We should help ourselves, not the "fellow south africans". They know everything already can't teach these leaders anything. Afrika se ma se poef there is nothing here to be proud of The nature is mooi, but that's nature, people didn't make that. The constant struggle is not worth the view. and that's my
  8. Insipration That's a beautiful cross you made! I've been thinking in the F1 group it's almost better to end up with 1 keeper instead of a bunch. even though this means the genepool is very diverse, now you have the traits you know you wana lock in moving forward. I am at the very start of my breeding journey, been here for a while, can't seem to find a female I like enough to work with. I am also not 100% focused on it, it's been a background project for way too long now, I need to network more and get on the new stuff, I am still growing out old clones over here I got a reg pack a while back planning on just finding the best male or two in the pack so I can get do a pollen chuck or two. just to get the feeling Nice to see you posting here again bro, blast from the past! Coincidentally I was told to chat to you about breeding about a week ago by your SO on instagram, hoping this is the same person? instagram handle of the person who told me is serial puffs, you know them or am I talking to someone else right now?
  9. What's good my dude, you use pudo for shipping? most expensive package cost is R50. I've sent some big boxes with them, they're legit. I'd like to grab some of the bloom, but maaayybe able to hook up a similar deal this side if I drive about an hour and a half. obviously I'd rather save on the time and effort and get it from you, just wana check if you would be able to send with Pudo, obviously I cover the cost. let me know
  10. @Sticks I don't mean to answer for the guy, but it's pretty clear what he is saying. By possibilty of one person buying all 4 he will look at working a discount on the total. Indicating that the 2500 is not the total of all 4. I really doubt anyone is gona sell 4 x 120w qbs for only 2500 and then give discount too he also mentions that they're brand new... the discount will come in when you take all 4. alternatively if it was 2500 for all 4 then a single would cost 625, which would then be his selling point, though you probably only gona get a flood light for that price. these lights cost a little more than normal lights. with all that said I might still be wrong
  11. PeanutButterBreath PlatinumSilk GrapeDiamonds GarlicSherbet another shot of the GS
  12. With HID you also have to replace bulbs and ballasts over time, you get a few good grows then quality starts to go south. I know a guy some money, not endless amounts, though he switched to LED cause in summer he wasn't able to run the setup without having an aircon run together with the lights doubling running costs. if you run LED you still get some heat at the canopy. it's just the roots that might slow down a little bit, but if this reeeeeaaally bothers you it's very easy and cheap running a small fish tank heater in a 20L bucket where you mix your nutrient or dechlorinate your water before giving it to the plants, get the water to the 25-30°C range before giving it.
  13. if you wana breed you can start with anything you want, first F1 batch you gona hunt the best pheno and part of that is not selecting the one that gets pm everytime or hermies for no reason... that kinda stuff. and with each next generation you select the one with the most resistance. when people get into stabilising a genetic you have to torture test them every now and then, the one that remains the closest to what you looking for is the one you breed with, this way you select for resistance each time. but for someone that just wants an easier time at growing in SA, it would be suggested to start off with local genetics as they have already done the breeding and selecting, well.... locally... so the genetics carried in their strains are obviously already more adapted and acustomed to our local environment in terms of wind, heat, frost, indigenous fungal spores, pathogens and pests... all that stuff. on the other hand someone who's just starting out I wouldn't suggest breeding right away from the first grow and then also I would say go for any genetics, because you're going to have to familiarize yourself with an religious IPM regime either way. at some point, same as all of us, everythings gona be 100% one day an the next day your plant is covered in PM or RSM... not enough regret in the world to explain loosing a whole crop to skipping one simple IPM day... trust me brother, IPM is a must must MUST. so going for local genetics as a way to get around that would be to shoot yourself in the foot. at least you could do with local genetics is still make yourself used to do one spray a week during veg. every week.
  14. Thanks man! first batch from start to finish in my own soil eeh good question hahah I haven't been logging or keeping notes as often as I should, but they went for anything between 2.5 and 3.5 months. I can remember going a whole lot longer than planned cutting them back quite a bit when they where in the veg tent, because of my previous grow that was in here. took too long, actually still growing on that batch I just moved them outside. good time of the year now I'll have two batches harvested almost at the same time
  15. hell yeah bro I think breeding is the goal for a lot of us. just keep the seeds in a bag, they don't take up much space hahah write on the bag "No Name Backyard Bushbreed 2023" then just play around and do whatever you wana. I think a lot of times there's a huge gap in the conversations on these forums, cause people only say like one or two sentences and leave a lot of room for wondering and interpretation, which is giving the benefit of the doubt to the masses and can be seen as a good thing, but people generally just say what they would do, not what you should do. I am still learning how to grow and reaching out for a lot of information a lot of the time, but mostly end up doing something completely different than what most people are telling me. I said it before, the information circulating a group of experienced growers' conversation is not the same information new growers should be talking about. an experienced grower with look at those seeds and see nothing, but to someone who wants to learn how to grow they're fucking gold dude. with all that said, since being on this forum and a talking to a lot of growers it becomes clearer how useless a bush breed is, this is usually what they call "bag seed". when you buy some weed in a bag and there's seeds in it, we talking bout those seeds. I'll post a video below that kinda scratches the surface of breeding, but basically when people do selective breeding for desired traits it's quite a project. can be short term but it can very easily be long term if you really wana end up with something good. It's very very easy to get a first batch of seeds from any situation, but once you start to want to lock in traits and working towards a plant that gives you all seeds that will mostly look alike when grown out, then you gotta look at genetics and how they work. genetics will probably always be the most intetesting and never ending rabbit hole here's another good one aaaand another one
  16. you going to throw them away? I'd say concider it a blessing from the ganja gods, you won't get better seed than those from a rasta anyway, probably same kind of stuff. saves you effort of going there to get more seeds. I see you mention somwhere you going to get seeds from a rasta? Just keep these, for someone that wants to learn about growing these are golden. grow them out but don't count too much on yield being anything good. even if you take 9 seeds, divide them 3 - 3 - 3. then you use one method of popping on one batch, a different method on others and another method on last 3. those that do the best you carry through. the stunted ones you see if you can use what we have taught you by now to see if you can diagnose problems and recover from them and go about learning how to prevent these problems in future. I mean, you can throw it all away, then do like most new kids on the block - pay a shit load of money for danks seeds just to be discouraged from growing, because of the underperformance of the seed and "it's sooo hard" or whatever the reason... we call these school fees, a lot of people gotta pay them cause of the good old saying "if you don't wana listen you must feel" Good genetics will the big game changer for most growers, but on the other hand, not everyone that knows how to water a plant will know what exactly to do with good genetics.
  17. Oh man yeah she got knocked up hey. I had some semi-fire genetics doing their thing outdoors cause I didn't wana occupy my tents with those plants. was outside for about 3 weeks and I started noticing the seeds. at first I was also quite excited, cause I didn't know much about breeding of the plant back then. collected the seeds as I was smoking the buds. gave a bunch of seeds to a friend, he grew out 2 plants both turned out to be female and one was atleast smokable. other one I wouldn't even call cannabis, buds looked like ditch weed from the 70's, 99% stems and leaves. not smokable at all. if it was burnt it'll smell like someone got their hair caught on fire scratched it up to doing something wrong cause we both still learning how to grow at the time. grew out between 10 to 15 plants before I dumped all the rest of the seeds on the compost. literally each and every plant was just a load of hot nasty shit off a plant that had good genetics itself... so yeah, I would say if you got seeds off a plant that doesn't at least have good genetics itself then it's more of a headache than anything else. in your situation, I would call it a win though, because you could do with some free seeds hahah like Weskush said, play around dude pop them all, but don't invest too much in them. Test soils, test watering regimes, test environment, torture test, find the best spot around the house, fiddle with one plant, make a bonzai out of another plant... do all these things that'll add to the relationship you got with the plant. if you loose a plant due to your intervention at least you not loosing a plant you pay an arm and a leg for. all you wana see is a healthy thriving prolific vegging plant, you see males, you pull. you see females let them do their thing and see if you can carry the plant through till the end even if the yield is straight dogshit, now you can copy what you did with slight changes with a good genetic seed or clone one of us will provide you with and you'll be golden.
  18. before and after last clean up, raised the light a little
  19. I still gotta sort out my drying situation, got a dryrack but also only used it a couple times. I feel the surface where the buds lay and it feels stick, so I think trichomes do run off when using it and then the deforming buds thing. The wendy my tents are in is a long split compartment wendy, equal space on both sides, my grow side is insulated and other side is just normal. I hand in there, before chop I remove only the biggest of fan leaves, I try to remove as little as possible to slow the drying down and also don't use a fan. RH is not stable on that side of the wendy though, flux between 30 and 70%. Gotta sort that out, but untill now it'a served me good. I heard a Canadian dude say "that's the only time you aim for a perfect 666, that's 60%RH 60°F and 16days" lol that's not really 666 but every number has a 6 in it 60°F = 15/16°C hahah fucking hell those Canadians makes sense that you'll need 16 days then, but probably minimal terp loss.
