  1. @Naughty.Psychonaut Fimming does not necessarily mean it will leave you with 3 nodes / branches. Fimming is basically where you do not remove the node completely, however you are still removing that apical dominance. The name could be better, whether it sticks around - I guess we'll see in a few years. With topping the node is removed completely.
  2. FIM can be applied to all plants. It isn't quite the same thing. FIM you still leave that top node there, it still grows into a branch. You are not removing it completely. So say there are 3 small nodes, you almost remove the biggest one and you still end up with those 3 nodes fully developing. With topping, if there are 3 nodes you would remove the one to force more growth to the remaining 2. When you FIM you still remove that apical dominance without removing that node. They both lead to similar / same results in the sense that they both lead to bushier plants. FIM should lead to more nodes though. This is a top as that node was removed completely, forcing growth to the remaining 2 nodes below. You'll end up with these 2 nodes becoming main colas. A FIM would still lead to 3 main colas.
  3. FIM is when you do not fully top the node, hence "fuck I missed" but the way it was cut allow the plants to push multiple branches / colas still due to the way you cut it... but that top node was not removed completely, like it would have been with a topping. The images I posted above might help make more sense of it. I think majority of people top and very few FIM.
  4. FIM and top is similar, but there is a difference. Cannot say I have ever done a FIM. Topping removes the node to allow the two bottom nodes to become the main brancehs / colas. FIMing is to get multiple growth points from that node. Where you cut is the deciding factor between the two. At least this is how I have always understood it. As mentioned, I just top.
  5. Just started listening to this, really enjoying it so far.
  6. When did you put the plant outside? It is also flowering. Wondering if they are autos or just went out and started flowering and now need to reveg. I'd also move the lights a bit closer to the plants. You said they were cheapies, so possibly not the highest PPFD output. Not that veg plants need much but who knows what PPFD you're actually getting out of those lights. As for your signature, not sure if PHP will work in a signature. Possibly only BB code. @420SA Perhaps you can confirm?
  7. @Ponica Very nice! May be a bit gimmicky, but it is a project and something fun. Perhaps it could develop as times goes on Remote access to adjust lights might not be needed much or often but nice to have, remote monitoring of the temp and RH is useful. Lux as a measurement in generally isn't of much use, if you could monitor the PPFD that would be far more useful but even then not necessary really and won't be cheap either.
  8. Will cuts of the winning pheno ever be distributed?
  9. Well, firstly the plant is probably in a bit of shock due to the roots being messed with. Also I find a drastic change with the medium (like going from hydro to soil / coco or visa versa) can also put the plant into a bit of shock and it takes time to adapt. Lastly, did you mix nutes at the correct strength and did you PH the solution correctly? PH is very important when going hydro or coco. The plant is also busy flowering so will need a bit of time to reveg and come right. Provided the nutes and PH are fine and the roots are in the water then give it a few weeks to adapt and reveg. Once it is back in veg growth should start to explode. I'd say 2 to 3 weeks for a recovery.
  10. @Naughty.Psychonaut I agree with you there and have also noticed that trance is split into many sub-genres or whatever you want to call them and people can get rather fussy with what is being played. However some people and events do not care and it is changes as the DJ changes. lol Tech and Techno, didn't get them mixed up. You used both though. I feel the genres and sub-genres exist to help people make mention of a specific type of music. If we classified all electronic music under Techno or all Trance music just under Trance then it becomes a bit of a shit show. Talking to people about music and you're both talking about totally different genres, like one talking about some house music and the other hardstyle. lol Minimal can be cool too and is rather close to techno. It generally is a slower music, like house. Techno, minimal and even house at times can be rather repetitive however I think that is what most enjoy about it and techno in particular can have a driving beat to it and it makes it easier to dance to. I find some of the mixes you posted a bit too repetitive for me, skip through it and it does change a bit but overall is a lot of the same. There are aspects of it which I do still enjoy and I could jam to it for a bit but I would struggle to do so for an extended period of time. One of the best parts about music is that it varies and there is likely something out there for everyone to enjoy. There is a lot of music out there which I do not enjoy, it is just too slow or boring but its really popular shit and others enjoy it a lot.
  11. Spray, leaves residue on the leaves. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk
  12. @Naughty.Psychonaut Not really the stuff I listen to anymore. A little bit now and then is fine, but I think I may have screwed myself over by going to ESP as often as I use to a few years back. It just got a bit much and I started venturing away from the psytrace / goa / High Tech stage - whatever you wanna call it. I feel one could clump it under Psytrance with the various sub-genres like more music genres have. Drum n Bass is no difference with the jump up, jungle and liquid sub-genres. I find Drum n Bass and the sub-genres to be quite varied and I enjoy that. It even gets a bit commercial at times. The exact same happens with techno too, quite a few sub-genres. Now what you call techno, is it what I call techno? Keeping in mind you do get different types of techno. The above to me is what I would classify as techno. Quite a few dislike it and find it too repetitive and it can be at times, but it does not have to be. House, well, soo many sub genres there but I do enjoy some more housey music as well.
  13. Being by the sea, your RH is likely higher in general and that may affect you negatively. Airflow and temps would become even more important.
  14. Environment plays a big role, I have seen grows with a tent packed tightly and fan leaves staying on for duration of flower without PM simply due to the fact that the RH, temp and fan is controlled well. No IPM either. Add IPM and it can make a big difference and make life much easier.
  15. @Naughty.Psychonaut You're calling it trance, that is psytrance IMO. Trance I feel is the stuff from back in the day with ATB, Armin van Buren, Above and Beyond. I feel it has kinda died and people moved on though. Music change and evolved and that did not carry through. I use to love Psytrance, however it gets a bit too repetitive, especially when one goes to a festival as it's just that rolling bass the whole time. The track you posted is cool though. Reminds me of some of the Infected Mushroom stuff. Daydin and Neelix also have some nicer stuff which isn't just that rolling bass the whole time. If I am at a festival, I am not at the Psytrance stage which is often the main stage. I'd rather make my way over to the House, Techno or D&B stage. If it is just Psytrance, I do not go. There has also been quite a bit of mixing of genres which I am not against at all. I feel this is a good example of such as well. Coming Soon also have some good stuff.
  16. Yea, here in the city the only animals are the cats in the complex or the birds. lol I too an not a fan of Roundup. I see there are other "lawn herbicides" though. May resort to that once the lawn is in and if I still end up with weeds then. I tried the Finalsan, the shit goes quickly. 200ml per L So 2.5L from a 500ml bottle, could not even do the entire 70sqm of or so of the garden. Works okish, was hoping for something more dramatic... Like the plants dieing and burning and being all shriveled up. I think it would work well for only a few weeds or weeds on a pavement. I ended up pulling a lot out with the use of a spade.
  17. I was just going to say, you may as well try coco then which is inert and will give you full control over the nutes you're feeding to the plants and coco can be cheaper than "cannabis soil". Purchase some 5KG bricks, expand, buffer and use. With coco you need to be on point with your PH though as there isn't anything in the coco to help bufer the PH, I would recommend a high quality PH pen.
  18. For interest sake, has any training been done on these plants or they just been left to form a christmas tree?
  19. So @CreX did a grow using the gas lantern lighting schedule with great success, perhaps he can share more info here. What else works is to set ones timer to be always on and let Eskom dictate the dark periods for your plants. When load shedding is suspended, change the timer onto an 18 / 6 cycle - that is what I do.
  20. Yea, most certainly. Watering after putting soil in the pot helps to compact it a bit. Lots of reasons not to use weight for soil. Therefore liters makes a bit more sense.
  21. @Dookie69 DLI is a far better measurement IMO, however with Cannabis most seem to have standardized light cycles. You can use this to easily calculate the DLI: https://www.waveformlighting.com/horticulture/daily-light-integral-dli-calculator Not sure what the DLI for Autoflowers should be though. I imagine similar to photoperiods in flower, which would be 30 to 43 DLI.
  22. I saw that Vtronic fan and own a RAM fan too and some AC Infinity fans. The Vtronic fan is priced nicely, but I do not believe it has any speed setting, where the RAM fan has a low speed and high speed. AC Infinity has 10 speed settings. I decided to rather wait and get another RAM fan later on to replace my 6" with an 8"
  23. I guess as a soil absorbs water, it expands in size and therefore in liters. Like coco, you can purchase a 5KG brick and it is small in size but then expands to 50L+ when added to water. I think it is fine to keep the size the same but reduce the price. People are use to 30L bags for soil. Coco typically comes in different sizes, typically 45L to 60L so no standard there really. Makes sense to state that the bag is x L when at a specific moisture percentage though. Also how compact the soil is plays a role too, I always fill up my pots, shake them and bang them on the floor and then top them up again.
