  1. Nice, looking good - I assume the net is going to be used for when the buds get heavy to help support the branches?
  2. I reckon it is optimal, you will get airflow on top and below the QB therefore cooling both the heatsink and diodes.
  3. I clearly have the unpopular opinion considering I am the only one who thinks the local breeders are not quite there yet. However I must admit after reading all the replies in this thread makes me 2nd guess myself. I will admit, I do not really keep up to date with what the local breeders are doing and who they are or how many we have. My exposure to them is limited to what I see on this forum and even then I do not keep up to date with what they are breeding and what they are pushing. While we may get access to some of the overseas genetics locally, it is still limited and there are many breeders who do not sell seeds outside of the US for example and trying to bring them into SA can be quite a challenge... Then if you can get it, it is a seed - so back to a lucky packet in terms of phenos and what you will be getting. Lots of breeding overseas is done with cuttings of specific plants or phenos of specific plants and getting access to that specific cutting from overseas I imagine to be a mission and a half, near impossible dare I say. A cannabis cutting getting past overseas customs and local customs and surviving the flight here. These cuttings are often very expensive or only shared between breeders within a specific circle. However with all of that being said, one does not need to make use of the work from other breeders in order to achieve great strains and a superb plant, but it does make things easier. Lots of popular strains go back to a few specific plants and we see it bred quite frequently. I am not against local breeders or local strains, I am sure our local breeders will be able to put out some fire strains as well and with time I am sure it will only get better. I do feel we are still limited locally in the sense that it is not fully legal yet, so having massive warehouses to run hundreds or plants to select the right pheno isn't quite as easy as in the states. I do feel I should try out some local strains, perhaps will try out Totemics Palomino and Tortoni at some point relatively soon. However for now, most of what I grow will continue to be international stuff, mostly US genetics. Just because it is from a reputable breeder overseas or costs a lot, does not mean it is fire. One still have to search through the strains and phenos within those strains to find those keepers. Everyone growing has different wants from a plant, so what I feel is a keeper may be complete shit for someone else. EDIT: Another thing, not everyone is willing to fork out money on expensive overseas genetics. I personally would rather grow what Totemic is putting out than grow Green Smoke Room seeds or Bulk seeds or even some of the EU breeders. I feel Totemic and his current range of fem seeds will perform better and they're cheaper!
  4. Surely the cloth isn't the entire filter? All the HEPA filters I have seen have all been quite thick, is the cloth a pre-filter? Regardless nice, simple design and will certainly help with dust and shit getting inside your tent.
  5. You could connect both positive wires and both negative wires together then daisy chain them for neatness. Alternatively, this way will probably be the 2nd best option, also a bit of a daisy chain but not to the same extent as what I posted and both outputs can be used without joining them together so wire thickness isn't as much of a concern then.
  6. I see, anything below 48v has the dual outputs. Never used any Meanwell LED drivers below 48v, only their LRS range at 36v. Does it not state the output on the driver itself? I think you are right though, that they are dual output but both outputs are capable of delivering the full current - that would make the most sense to me. I see Meanwell use 1mm cable, so they may have added two output for one to split the load between the cables for safety. The lower the voltage, the higher the current for the same watts therefore the dual outputs on the lower voltage versions. The two built in potentiometers are likely io (Current adjustment) and vo (Voltage adjustment) - this is normal on the A and AB Meanwell HLG drivers.
  7. @Abraham if it was PM it would come off, it looks as if some pest has eaten away at your leaf and therefore you cannot wipe it off as the leaf itself is damaged and some of it has been eaten / is missing.
  8. Ahh gosh, that is quite peculiar. Is it one of those Quantum Boards like what Spiderfarmer and Geeklight have? Just a silver aluminium plate without any fins? Yes, that should work well too - then the airflow from the Mars light can help cool the power supply.
  9. Sort of but not quite, typically series would increase the voltage - however when they're being daisy chained the voltage should remain the same. The Meanwell drivers we use are constant voltage and become constant current if you try push them past their limits. I have not seen a Meanwell HLG driver with dual outputs, can you post a link to your specific driver? Having dual outputs with exact same voltage - in theory you should be able to connect them together and then get the combined current (parallel), I know you can do this with PC ATX power supplies and it is commonly done if you use one to try get a nice 12v power supply to power a car amp or whatever else. The black is typically ground, yellow is +12v Yea, your drawing skills are a bit better. I do not claim to be an artist of sorts, you do not want to see me try and draw. lol Figured the image would suffice to help you understand what I was trying to explain.
  10. That does not look like PM to me, it looks like damage from pests. Looks as if the damage from the top of the leaf correlates with the damage on the bottom of the leaf? If you have done a spay for pests, I'd say monitor for now and see if it continues. However outdoors, not sure how you are going to stop all pests from getting to your plants. The outdoor guys might have better ideas and advice.
  11. Certainly seems like a mutation, the more direct sun the better! I'd say monitor it for now and see how it goes, no reason not to grow it out and harvest IMO. Some mutations can actually be beneficial. Larger bud, bigger yields etc.
  12. What HEPA filters do you use and where did you source them from? Pricing on these filters for interest sake?
  13. I'd personally prefer to wire it up in the below picture with the Meanwell drivers and waco connectors. However if the LED strips allow you to "daisy chain" them, then I'd say do that if you want it to be neat. EDIT: In the first picture you're going to have to fit 2x wires inside the connector which will be a bit challenging if you are using 1mm or 1.5mm cable. EDIT 2: This is the daisy chain type of wiring I am talking about. I am not a fan of it, but if the strips allow it, then it will be the neater way to wire them. I have wired up multiple Quantum Boards like this before when I needed to get them installed and working quickly and by using as little cable as possible.
  14. Hey Honey man! Well, you're in luck as there are many knowledgable members on this very forum! Start a grow diary or a thread asking for advice and I am sure many members will help guide you through the process
  15. Remember that temps play a big role in terms of the diode deterioration. The hotter the diodes, the quicker they will deteriorate. Always best to try keep the lights as cool as possible. Passive heatsinks are nice and all, although having a fan blow over them makes a big difference in keeping them cool. I have my fans for air circulation in the tent blow over my heatsinks as well. This is also why I suggest one removes the LED driver from the heatsink - you have at least lifted yours which is also good and will help with airflow and keeping them cooler. I believe LED lights should be replaced after 3 years of use. So new lights every 3 years (or sooner).
  16. @AquaS I would turn the extraction fan on and have fan for air circulation on as well - but not blowing directly on the seedlings. 100W is fine, you could get away with less power, around 50c to 60c above should be good. Seedlings really do not need much light.
  17. You are correct, it would make the most sense to have it on the floor which is cooler, especially if there are tiles. Unfortunately floor space is an issue for me, so on top of the tent they go. I do have measures in place to assist with air circulation in the room and to control the temperature, so the temperature in the room is pretty consistent throughout the entire room and at all heights. As you said, many roads lead to Rome. If it works for you, then great!
  18. So why not get those waco quick disconnect connectors - the ones @Totemic has with his QB. That way you can quickly, easily and safely disconnect your lights from your power supply and move them around or swap them out. They are not that expensive either. The above is a 5 way connector, but just to give you an idea of what I am talking about. Although if it works for you, that is all that matters, these quick disconnects might make it easier though. @ORGANinc. Not sure about the pot being set to around 2 o' clock, the best would be to get a power meter or kill a watt type of device, alternatively you could use a multimeter or 2 to confirm the watts and power going to your Quantum Boards. I personally have 1x power meter per LED driver, so I can accurately monitor the power coming out from each power supply. My power supplies are on top of my tent, on top of a cardboard box (for weight distribution and heat). The power meter connects to the LED driver, then you take the output from the power meter to the quantum boards, no external power is required. The power meter is right there by the LED driver so quick and easy to see the watts as I adjust my LED drivers. I see you have CPU heatsinks with fans, those works soo well in terms of cooling down Quantum Boards. Very nice DIY setup you have there.
  19. I assume you are following Mr Canucks Grow on YouTube? Never used Green House Powder feeds myself and only heard of people trying their salt / mineral nutes, not the organic stuff which is mixed in with soil. Perhaps take the leap and try it out, if you decide to do so please let us know how it goes!
  20. Hahaha, why not just put the power supply outside the tent? Looks like a bit of a mission to tie everything and get it hung like that, but it works! I feel the way @Totemic has done it is one of the better ways and very similar to the way I hang mine. It also allows you to "tilt" the light if you want it at a slight angle for whatever reason - maybe you want to run some side lighting or want less reflection off the wall of the tent.
  21. Hey! So firstly remove the power supply from on top of the heatsink - it is not a good idea. The heatsink is hot and the power supply is hot, the power supply will be restricting airflow around the heatsink and this will lead to your diodes degrading quicker than they should - try keep the quantum board heatsink as cool as possible. If you can have a fan blow over it a bit, that would be great. I prefer having the LED driver outside of the tent, otherwise if you want it inside then I use cable ties to attach it to one of the corner poles so it is out of the way. I am going to assume you do not have anything which will actually tell you the watts which you are dimming your Quantum Board to? So it will be a bit of guess work as to where 50% actually is, or any other percentage. If it were me, I'd have sold the Mars light and purchased a 240W Quantum Board which would have been a perfect fit for your tent! Anyways, what you have is still good and will work well. I would start the grow with the Quantum Board only and have it dimmed down to around 40W (use a multimeter to work it out, otherwise consider purchasing a power meter or kill a watt, the power meters are cheaper but the kill a watt can be used for various devices), I would then have the Quantum Board around 50cm above the seedlings and as they grow move the light up and start to increase the power going to the quantum board. When you flip to flower then you can consider turning the Mars light on - you could actually turn the Mars light on after the stretch I reckon.
  22. Haha, that does look a bit weird indeed but it seems as if the plant basically topped itself - so in terms of training the plant has already done some work for you. Most likely a deformity or it got damaged while growing, let it continue to grow as it seems fine now. Just ensure your seedlings are getting enough light - it does look very lanky and this can often be due to an insufficient amount of light.
  23. At the moment it's 100w per 240w QB, so a total of 300w in the veg tent. I can likely bump it up a bit, but growth is good. Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk
  24. I'd say have the ducting for the extraction fan connected to the HID reflector and then blow the air out the tent - that way the air inside the tent will get sucked up towards the HID bulb and help remove the heat generated by the bulb out of the tent. I'd also rather save that R200 and put it towards your Quantum Board fund.
