Great Idea! I have Ethos Forbidden skittles and Ethos Wedding Cake clones going atm.The wedding cake is a bit sweet for me,but she kicks nicely.I prefer something with a little bit of sour/spice or diesel to cut that sweetness.

The f-skittles is around 4 weeks away from harvest, but the clones already have roots. She also smells very sweet 🙂

    Clone transporters (6 pack around R50-60)  - https://www.google.com/search?q=clone+transporters  😉

Sounds lekker man, Ethos has some nice gear.

Feel free to start a "Line up" thread in the "Whats in your stable" section of the group, there you can showcase your motherplants if u wanted too.

As the thread grows it will be easy to go see the LineUp threads of growers for those sharing cuts.

I'm chiming in quite late here but can't say how happy I am to finally see initiatives like these starting up on the forum.

I'd be more than happy to partake. I need some new genetics and I think this is the way I wanna go now. Trying out 420SA's finest. So those who are willing to sponsor me a cut I would be glad. I'll cover shipping of course

    :-peace

Yo @420SA , thanks for the platform making it all possible 🙏

I want to offer to send you some of my cuts, if there is nothing from other members you would rather grow. I might only be able to send em off rooted by next month this time, but I can offer you some choices.

I have the WeddingCake I sent to @1000Hills Nursery, but during this winter grow I managed to stress her out enough that she made nanners, so wouldn't really call her a Elite Cut, even though she dank as hell and hits like Mike Tyson.

I got 2 different Black Dogs from Humboldt Seed Organisation, pro's is a quick flowering time, nice terps and stoney, downside, a bit sensitive to the bottled nutrients in high doses, also a bit weak against PM.

    Exodus Cheese, she's nice :-rolled

Blue Cheese from Dinafem, liking her more and more each time i flower one of her cuts.

I have some others but the above I can have rooted by end of next month at the latest.

The CBD is nice but very stretchy, not really indoor stash, but nice to pop a clone outside in summer.

Guys please feel free to drop your offers here for @420SA, im just getting the ball rolling.

  3. Thanks for all the input @oldsandals and a heads up about the hazards associated with transporting cuts.

Good advice about quarantine, when receiving cuttings from a unknown source its best to be careful.

Looks and sounds like you got quite a few mother plants there man, keen to share any cuts in the group?

I keep meeting ballies in JHB that moved from CPT that claim they have the mythical Exo cheese from the early 2000's. Very interesting. Might be able to call them up and get a cut 🤔

That is the idea behind this group, lets find out what cuts make the cut and which is just jad.

Ah that takes me out of the game.

I just thought a veg area would be needed to get cuttings to a decent size.

Members without a veg area could arrange cuts in time for a new run.

Sorry about the misunderstanding @Bakstein420 , u are by no means outa the game.

Having mother plants is also not a necessity, just encouraging those who would like to share.

    1 hour ago, Ill_Evan said:

Aaaaw, surely not. I'm sure if you got a cutting you could work with it as per usual, but obviously you wouldn't be able to replicate the grow without receiving another cut, and you probably wouldn't have a mother to send cuttings to others. I mean, this is a closed group, I'd like to think we're here cause we lekker and want to play.

In fact, I'll happily send you a cutting when I establish my mother plant in the next grow. I am planning on mothering a Gorilla Zkittles from Barney's Farm and I will be selecting the mother from 8 seeds. So if you're keen, let me know at the time.

I think this right here is wonderful 👌

Yeh well said man, not a necessity to have a mother setup to play.

@1000Hills Nursery aggreed to share out some of the cuts that i sent him, and I think is also happy to share some of his stuff with members.

I'll also do my best to send out cuts when i got some available.

I'd also gladly add any cuts I have to this.

I dont keep moms too long. I'm cycling through too many plants, and if I had to keep a cut of each, I'd be spending all day maintaining a veg forest.

Just because a plant isnt a keeper for me in terms of breeding, doesn't mean it's a crappy plant. So I'll have clones randomly as time goes.

This is awesome bro! Shot, the more guys sharing cuts the better the forum standard will become.

Super stoked, happy grows my owes!

i am very keen to play the game - hows it gonna work?

For a start I would say dudes interested in receiving cuttings should have a veg area.

Then secondly we are not selling any cuttings on the forum, so sender and receiver should figure out courier costs of the gift.

It would be cool if guys that have mother plants, and willing to share clones with group members post on this thread.

Likewise peeps looking for cuttings can post here and ask what they looking for.

Then i think it would be cool to showcase the received cuts on threads in the main 420SA forum, maybe growdiaries with a tag "forum cuts".

This would be ideal BUT asking for a diary seems like a but too much effort for some owes.

Any ideas? Just jot em down below :-rolled

  6. Yo @1000Hills Nursery super stoked they are alive and well, surving the darkness and the cold :-greenthumb The leaves were advice from a orchid guru that ships live plants around.

I didnt have any low ec cococoir or dried moss to package them, so i went for the dried leaves.

Its a big pleasure brother, i hope that they bring u lots of growing and perhaps breeding joy!

    Beanz... Beanz... Beanz...

    🔥🔥🔥🚒🚒🚒

I'm not gonna eloborate to much on these beanz as we plan on dropping them right away and will be start a grow diary for them. @Dank brother thank you again for this amazing priceless gift. If you can please share some info on these beanz and the cuts you sent me.

Sure thing man, so the Exodus Cheese cut is a old mom down here by the coast, and definitely verified by the community. Was donated to me as a contribution to my library.

The Weddingcake cut was donated to me as well, i have no info on it except, "Its Weddingcake... or BirthdayCake, same thing really". She is super loud and stoney, not for first time smokers. Lots of gas accompanied by sweetness, almost a rum and raisins Icecream.

The CBD Heavy was also donated to me, info is also vague, except that it might be related to the Otto #2 cut in Colorado. This is true medical weed.

Onto the seeds, the Dankstar Kush is a strain i worked on in the illegal days, they are from 2015 (i hope they pop!). My Afghani and Hindu Kush selection with hints of my Blueberry from their great grandparents.

Plants should be a bit more squat than average hybrids these days, couple of phenotypes, but smoke should be a creamy earthy sweetness, some are very close to a good charas, some lean more to a kind of vanilla kush.

The Strawberry Bubblegum Kush is a hybrid of the Chocolate Kush daddy onto a rare AK 47 Strawberry Bubblegum pheno. I lost the mom unfortunately.

Should be some Strawberry and hopefully Bubblegum terps coiming out in this cross, u will be sifting these beans before me. Ill hopefully get to pop a couple this season.

The Chocolate Hashberry Kush is a F1 IBL cross from the Chocolate Kush male and a mystery mom from California. I was only given details about the dad in this cross.

So the Chocolate Kush daddy comes from a clone only plant in California called Chocolope Cheese (the mom), she was crossed with a select Moroccan Hashplant male.

Excpect a boquet of Cali bud, u testing these before me as well, should be good, enjoy em!

Two packets with 20 beans each are kids from the same daddy.

He is the first stud i featured here

As mentioned in the writeup for the breeders group, this is the spot to organise some seeds and clones from local SA breeders.

@1000Hills Nursery and myself have been discussing getting some of our cuts out to forum members to grow.

As a collective of growers and breeders we have a opportunity to search for our own "Elite Cuts".

By having other forum members grow cuttings we hope to find motherplants that are truly 420SA cuts, loved and cherished by the community.

This is by no means limited to me and @1000Hills Nursery, it is a ininitiative that i hope will get forum members sharing amongst each other and finding the true SA Elite cuts.

We have taken the first steps, hope many more follow, 1000HillsNursery, bro u care to elaborate a little bit?

  9. Welcome to the fam @Freshlypicked :-thumbsup

A nice airy soilmix should get dry enough to water in about 3 to 4 days when plants are young.

As they grow u will notice them requiring more watering at times when roots have filled the pots.

Seedlings take their time getting outa the gate, like @Ill_Evan mentioned, developing their root mass etc.

Transplanting probably slowed them down a bit as well, give em some time and they ill pick up speed.

In a seedling mix they will probably start requiring some nutrients when they get bigger.

Thank you Dank I really do appreciate it. I had it under lights in a grow tent.

    Thank you for the advice

    seanmaa

Your welcome, biggest issue in commercial soils is poorly composted materials generally create a "hot" soil that really holds onto moisture.

In addition like mentioned above the bark chips rob the soil of Nitrogen while it is decomposing, after decomposition the Nitrogen will again become available to the plant.

If you are mixing up yournown soils its good to let them cool off for a month or two after adding ammendments, as in the case of mixing ur own supersoils.

Compost needs to be decomposed very well, same with wormcastings. Else there could be issues.

Last tip is to use something like dolomite lime to help control PH and it will also add Calcium and Magnesium to the soil.

Do some searching online for soil recipes to get an idea about correct ratios etc if are interested in supersoils. :-greenthumb

  11. Welcome to the fam @seanmaa

Winter is not the best growing season in most parts of SA, don't get discouraged. :-greenthumb

    Good advice from @CreX.

I would recommend adding even more perlite next time round and learn about super soils if u are keen to grow in the dirt.

    Good luck.

  12. WorldofSeeds has the Kilimanjaro strain, i have never used them so cant really vouch for their beans. I did get some freebies from them, but germination rate was swak.

Perhaps one of our local seedbanks can get n packet or 3 in for u with their orders. I got no idea what the status of international parcels are at the moment.

@Prom i have never grown or smoked Kili, seems it left a good impression on u, what is she like? I remember hearing high thc counts etc.

Would love to get my hands on some Kilimanjaro to turn it into a Auto... somebody can help on that topic?

Hi @Prom sorry for the late response :-rolled

So the first step would be to get your hands on some Kilimanjaro (regular or fems) and the Auto of your choice (regular or fem).

Originally males from Ruderalis onto a photoperiod female of choice were used, however one can also put a regular photoperiod male onto a Auto female.

Step 2 would then be hunting for the F1 progeny that display the autoflowering trait. I would run them in a 24hr setup, or 20/4, i wouldnt go lower than 20/4 when phenohunting autos to breed with.

Step 3 would then be to make a IBL from your selected plants that showed autoflowering genes.

This can get done done for multiple generations untill all plants carry the autoflowering traits.

The final step would be to find the phenotypes that look and smoke like the Kilimanjaro but are autos. This step is listed last but will always be the main goal, so every time u do a run keep the end goal in mind.

  14. Nice growing @Prom keep it up dude, good to see the Autos getting some love here on 420SA.

Growdiaries is a excellent site, congrats on the beans, hopefully the Postal service will resume work at some point. :-greenthumb

Autos are fun, i have some Auto hybrids u could test if u ever feel like dabbling in them. RQS NLAuto x NL (photoperiod) and also G13 Labs AutoGigabud x NL (photoperiod).

I have 0 space to pop em now but somewhere in the future i'd like to see their progeny. Both Autos were tasty strong smoke.

Also curious how many will keep the auto gene and how many will be photoperiod.

  15. I should add that it also greatly depends on the particular strain, has it been selectively bred for certain traits for generations, or is it just a f1 hybrid on another f1 hybrid.

Strains from the poly hybrid soup will give way more variation in my experience.

  16. Hi @SkunkPharm , in my view it is possible to a degree for indoor setups, providing enviromental controls are practically indentical to what the breeder/their growers use.

A phenotype of a particilar seed is the way that those genetics are expressing themselves in a certain environment.

I have grown the same clones in the same spot with different soils and phenotypical expression can vary with just a single variable changed.

Then different seeds also have genetic variation, finding the exact phenotypes as the mom from seed is possible, but a difficult thing to "promise".

  17. Nice thread @oldsandals ! Thanks a lot for sharing with the group.

These kinds of strains hold a lot of potential, hope to see more growers preserving these old varieties with seed.

  18. Eish sorry to hear about that BlueDream Captn, if there are no cuttings available by you, I would like to offer you something from my stable.

Me and @1000Hills Nursery been discussing sending rooted cuttings around, will send him some cuts in July, if the lockdown doesnt gooi n curveball.

Getting some of our cuts out to forum members, could start to establish some 420SA forum cuts.

Seems natural to send some of the first to our commander n chief :-rolled
