The GHE feeding schedule shows different ratios for preflower and flower, I followed the preflower schedule for the stretch, so yes 😄

At what point do you plan on switching nutes over to flowering ratios? You going to base it on time or what will you look for in your plants?

I put in a fresh batch of preflower nutes in last Saturday, so I think I will let that run for a week until this coming Saturday. If the pistils have grown substantially, EC has dropped at least by 0.2 and the stretch has all but halted I will then go full on flower ratio and give the nuggets their much desired bloom nutes.

@Ill_Evanyour grow is looking great.:-greenthumb Where did you source your 250W Quantum Board from? I have currently three different 120Watt Quantum Boards and getting different results under them. The Image below is one of my Monster Bruce Banner Auto's in my DWC system under a 120Watt QB.

The great and powerful @PsyCLown hooked me up with this particular 250W QB. 

So far loving the performance and it's up to this point comparable to my experience with using 250W MH/HPS. I will make my overall opinion once I get that sweet sweet smoke into my eager face 8-)

Strange that you are getting different results from the three QB's 🤔 do they all use the same diodes and driver?

I have a 4000k, 3000k and 3000k with red and uv. The one with the red and uv grows the best, but the company does not put it together well.

That would make sense. You should gooi all three of them in one tent and get a fat spectrum 😄

Interesting, who make the 3 QB's which you have? Do you have any idea?

Fake diodes are not unheard of and could be the reason you are getting different experiences, also depends how many red and "uv" led's are on the board etc. etc.

The 4000K is from GrowOpz, seedlings love the light. The 3000K without red and UV is from greenleafgrow, love their build quality, but not the best growlight (second grow under them and results are not good). The 3000K with red and UV is from onlinegrowshop, plants love the light all around BUT build quality is poor. If I didn't remove the power supply of the heat-sink and added a fan, it would have burned out the leds. :-peace

I'd be pretty bummed, but it seems you got it right with the last QB albeit with a few modifications. I might just have to take this opportunity to thank @PsyCLown for the QB you got me. Seems like you saved me a lot of headaches my dude 😅

When you say build quality, what exactly are you referring to?
The overall light? The way the QB is mounted to the heatsink and the LED driver?

Do Onlinegrowshop not use Meanwell drivers?

By the power of Jacob Zuma and a 'C' in 'Woodwork', and a tip picked up from @TheUltimateNoob's current grow diary, I built a square frame to rise the cooler box of the shorter plant to try get it closer to the height of it's partner.

Didn't get it perfectly right, it's still a bit short, but much better than previously. Definitely going to keep to the same strain when growing two plants at once in the same tent in future.

Switched to full on flower nutes now, preflowers are looking pretty. Still a while to go before full on flowers, but it's looking good.

@PsyCLowni have attached a picture below. They made use of 3 pieces of flat aluminum to mount the QB and then another two angle angle irons for the Meanwell driver. The grow-light  got so hot, in a span 30min, I couldn't touch it. I removed the two angle irons that was for mounting the Meanwell driver and I added the fan.  Apart from that, the plants and I love the grow-light.  :-peace

Geez, no wonder!
That is shocking that they're selling something like that.

Not only is the alu absorbing the heat from the QB's but the led driver too if its attached to the alu.

Unfortunately it seems people are going to these extremes to make extra profit as opposed to supplying a quality product.

For a while I've been trying to see how I can make quantum boards more cost effective and have come across a few issues, I can't believe they're selling them just like that.

Heat will reduce the lifespan of the LED's and the performance will deteriorate a lot quicker. So by the time you're on your 2nd or 3rd grow the LED's won't be as potent compared to when they were new.
Migro did a nice video comparing some led lights after a few of usage I think or something like that to see how the diodes held up and what their output was like compared to when it was new.

Like other growing lights, LED's do not last forever and they drop in strength as time goes on. So after 5 years it may still produce light but its not nearly as effective compared to a new light with fresh diodes.

Decided to give the ladies a light defoliation to get more light and air throughout the plants. The humidity was also sitting a bit high in the 60's range, so hoping this will also help to drop it a little bit as the flowers begin to blossom.

Still keeping the overall defoliation less than what I have done before, just to see the results. I've felt like in the past I have gone a bit overboard with the defoliation so I am attempting a healthy middle-ground to what I'm used to.

Haha, you and I are in the same boat regarding defoliation. I have also left my current plants with more leaves as well as more bud site, see how it turns out.

 

Doing a defol def seems to help reduce the transpiration the plants do and therefore it does appear to affect the RH, in my experience at least.

Got it down to the 50's just from this defoliation. I might take a revisit to the lower parts of the plants tomorrow, my back was just getting eina 😄 I also feel like one can get into a trance while defoliating and go a bit overboard without realising. 

One thing to also consider is that the humidity in general should be dropping more as we get deeper into Winter.

Yeah, it is actually easier to decide to just cut all / most of the fan leaves off than carefully take a look and see which ones should go. haha

When you have a couple of plants, even more so!

 

Lower RH won't be a bad thing, especially for flowering. I've been doing some IPM to make sure I do not get any PM and did a spray for pests before they started flowering so hopefully I am good on that front.

Remember that shit weed we vaped? Yeah, don't want that to happen again. I neglected that grow quite badly.

Grrr... humidity...

Atleast you got it back around where you want it. 

No matter how aggressive you defoliate a week to 2 later it's almost like you can't notice you defoliated. 

I'm also less aggressive these dayz. I eventually noticed when growing the same strains repeated times that they take longer to finish when I defoliate aggressively . I end up with over vegged plants for the reset. And we all know how fast these plants grow in veg once the get going.

Not sure if it's just the pics but looks like you need to do another defol. Quite a Bush you got going there.

I did a defol on my plants last night and adjusted them a bit, will see how it's looking tonight once they've adjusted and take it from there but light penetration is already much better.

      Genetics
      Hiroshima by Renegade Seed Co.  6 Pack

      High THC, and according to the product description should deliver "high yields of dense, rock-solid buds."  Hoping to achieve that.
      Want to make one a mother and start learning to clone. The description says "These highly stable genetics produce two phenotypes at most." Should be easy to choose a winner to reveg.
      They advise topping, which I am also looking forward to learning. Want to also try "FIM" a plant or two to experiment.

      9 November
      Seeds arrived. Also received a Promotional 2 Pack of G-Fawke.

      10 November
      Seeds into a glass of spring water. Onto a heating mat and into a dark cupboard to soak for 18 hours.

      11 November
      Seeds started showing roots. All 6 seeds popped, gently took them and placed them root facing down in Jiffy Preforma Plugs. 
      Covered the holes slightly and into the ROOTiT Small Propagator they go. Heating mat underneath, and gently misted with spring water. Also threaded the hygrometer reader through a ventilation hole, to see the environment reading. 
      I think this reading is fine for germination. Any and all feedback welcome.

      Hoping for them all to push out effectively over the coming days. In hindsight I should have maybe done the paper towel method to get the roots longer, before putting them into the plugs. I've also previously had a failed germination where I watered a bit much, so just gently misting this time as to not drown/stunt the seeds.

      This is how I built an overpowered light worth $2500+ on the market for only $850. All currency is CAD.

      *BEFORE STARTING*

      4x Hlg 185H 700ma in series drivers (i suggest you buy the newer 240H model) $250

      (You can use less I used way too many)

      All are bridgelux Gen 3/ C3 (Make sure theyre all plug in only dont mess around with the solder ones unless you have 100+hours experience in soldering)
      The 3000k ones I used were soulder onlys. Lost a couple due to human error

      Total Cost (TC): $575

      Frame:
      (Choose a better material for frame, I used wood composite because I was lazy) (I would think aluminum would be the best material but all have their pros and cons)

      SETTING UP THE DIMMERS

      (Very easy if you do it like i did in these pictures)

      All you need is:
      •100k potentiometers (maybe an ohm meter if you want to make sure ur dimmers go all the way to 100, most dont they go to like 92 or 97)

      •20 guage wire (same as the led strips)

      •Plastic junction box (make sure its got rubber wire holders that you cut a hole through with scissors and put the wire/ potentiometer through)

      •211 Wago wire connector

      •soldering machine (temperature is dependant on what kind of solder you use) $25

      • silver solder (find a lower temp soldering machine ~360f for silver) $20
      (This light is truly 800w if you use the exact parts, if you use more or less drivers and led strips or different brands then the wattage can vary from 600-1000, materials are very flexible just try to make sure volt/amp calculations are correct) (Always be cautious with electricity, build this whole thing without being plugged in to any wall outlet/power source⚠️⚡️)
