  1. Yea unfortunately swamp coolers have there issues and only work effectively if you with a low humidity. Running your cab at 35 is also risky as it will cause stress and my cause hermies. Have a look at peltier thermal chips if ypu are a handy guy it's easy enough to make a nice water cooler for hydro. Unfortunately growing indoors in Africa in summer is a problem and for me there 2 schools of though , either bite the bullet and get AC or try diy to just try keep temps down below 33 ( would never let my room go above that). I have done the diy thing and have successfully brought my temps to 29 from 32 , it's all I need atm but cone winter when AC units are on special I will get one
  2. Haha personally I go with 2 grades .1st grade is full melt 95% pure , that gets left in sand form . 2nd grade gets pressed . I find pressing ruptures the trichome glands and I find by leaving it in sand form it retains a lot more of the flavour of the bud and not as much a hashy flavour . Also sand is much easier to put in a joint lol
  3. I don't grow hydro and never have so I can't really help other than tell you that it is 99% N toxicity , that's how it looks , over watering normally the plants have a more melted look. Also the old growth will never go back to normal so you need to keep a close eye on new growth. Did you flush before you reduced the nutrients? Cheers GLO
  4. You can get them at most places like builders or game for about R1000 for a proper unit. They look like portable ac units and sold as air coolers not air conditioners. You can also diy them really easily , Google has many vids. I have even modded mine with peltier thermal chips to keep them a bit cooler. They pull about 70w for the big units and with the thermal chips mine pull about 140w and run about 7 degrees cooler than ambient . Cheers GLO
  5. Swamp coolers work well if you don't mind a little extra humidity , they will run about 4 degrees below ambient
  6. Shit bud , I am afraid Alice has actually turned out to be Allen.... Sorry bud but she's a boy
  7. Nice one bud huge respect , I can feel in my buds that the next 2 years is going to be a big one in our history
  8. @kimcarsons it's a digital frequency above 12k Hertz , it comes and goes but I think it's mainly while it is warming up. The GG ballasts run at the same frequency and I think internally are probably exactly the same.
  9. @kimcarsons you make some good points bud @Jellytot I would not recommend you or anyone giving personal details to anyone on the forum , as 420SA said it's still illegal for now. Trust me though I will be the first one to shout my name from the rooftops once it's legal , I have been living the lie for decades and am sick of it but for our own personal safety it's not time yet
  10. Nice screen and some good healthy looking plants bud . Is that wood for the screen well sealed?
  11. Let's make this a good one guys , I am sure everyone has a plant going
  12. I would if was a bit closer or not so busy lol
  13. Indoor or outdoor? It's been doos hot the last few weeks. In my area it's been the hottest summer in 50 years
  14. Digital all the way bud , huge savings in power. Magnetic ballasts have a very low power factor while digitals have a power factor of 0.95 Cheers GLO Ps I am running a gthydro 600w at the moment , it seems to be running on par with my other units apart from a high frequency buzz none of my other ballasts make. Otherwise all my other units are from growguru.co.za , never had hassles with them
  15. There are 2 problems with competitions as I see it , not speaking g first the site just my 2 cents. First off unfortunately competitions don't help with inactivity, the few people they attract are often just here for the competition and once it's over ypu never see them again and from what I have seen it doesn't really help getting activity from current members Second is the cost involved , no one will sponsor a compo on a forum that isn't very active so it would be up to 420SA to pay for it on top of what the site already costs They had a spring compo 2 months back that had a 600w digital ballast up for grabs and the entries were really really low considering it was an awesome prize , think there were 6 entries. Members need to make the site active and the competitions will come in am sure Just my 3 cents Cheers GLO
  16. Nitrogen Toxicity Problem: Dark green leaves, weak stems, and overall slow growth. Marijuana leaves that are nitrogen toxic often get "The Claw" or talon-like leaves that are bent at the ends. They also do an odd curving (or cupping) that is often mistaken for overwatering, but is unique to nitrogen toxicity. Leaves that turn into claws often start turning yellow and dying if the nitrogen toxicity is not treated, much like a nitrogen deficiency, only the leaves will continue to get more and more clawed. Leaves eventually turn yellow or brown and fall off. You can tell if yellowing is caused by too much nitrogen because the rest of the plant will be dark green, and the yellowing leaves will turn into claws first. The majority of times that growers encounter problems with nitrogen, it's from giving too much of it to their plants. *taken from blue-sky organics
  17. Cut back on N , that lady is showing N toxicity
  18. The Top 10 Cannabis Studies of 2015
  19. Don't feel to bad about it bud we all have lost seedling to it , one batch I have 25 seedlings and only 5 made it... I now germinate and sprout in a sterile environment which has helped me a lot.
  20. Your seeds dieing like that is called damping off , it is caused by a fungus. Damping-off For the lights you have I would keep with what ypu already have and not sprout more.
  21. Bakashi compost is wicked strong , that with tea and Epson salts would have given it the kick it needed. How big is your space bud? With proper training you can keep it under control but for now I would maybe hold off on the extra NL . Depends on space and lighting. As a personal preference I also never like to flower a seedling before she is sexually mature but that's me.
