  1. Welcome can't wait to see what you bring!
  2. how was the moisture in the pot with the younger plant? do you only have the issue of the top layer being bone dry with the mature harvest ready plants? if this is the case then it's perfectly normal. pots are same size one with more root mass will mean more water uptake which will cause the water/moisture to never move all the way up to the top of the pot. capilary action will be effected. where as a young plant with less roots will take longer to suck the medium dry and your capilary action will be closer to normal. I would say if you wanted to test the capilary capabilities of your medium, rig a autopot with nothing but medium in it and see what you get? other than that, if you say the F1 medium is right as is and you followed autopot instructions then maybe contact autopot people and tell them you done everything right and there's a design flaw in their product
  3. Hi @MrE hope you got a real good deal on that tent I see you gona be flowering in there, just wana make sure you don't get light leaks from those open duct ports with the fans in them. Does the room the tent is in black out completely or are you doing something else to prevent light coming in there? as for the hole, tape would probably work, you know the aluminium tape all the grow shops sell? use that to cover the hole from the inside. once done with this grow I would highly suggest getting it stitched to prevent further tearing on the seam. It's literally easy as pie, you could stitch it by hand if you know how to cross stitch. A kid could do it. If you know anyone with a sewing machine, even better. Will be a 2min job and save you a whole tent. then the mold.... damn brother..... you don't think it would've served you better to clean the tent before bringing a plant over? I would take that tent outside in the warm sun and wash it down with every disinfectant I own a couple times over and I would let it stand for a few days to see if nothing grows again before bringing a plant in. especially a plant that's so close to flower and I can't really do many IPM treatments on her anymore.
  4. I don't think covering the top is our answer here, because it's not your lights or airflow that's causing the drying of the top medium, but rather a poor wicking if I am understanding correctly? It was our good man @CreX who made a short threada while ago regarding this Key words are "capilary action" maybe give this a looksee? you could research more, but it's a good starting point, because that seems to be where your problem lies. maybe look into adding some peatmoss or good quality coco to your medium?
  5. hahahah there you get some convincing already! you know everyone uses it, how much more convincing do you need hahah yeah no honestly the biggest thing for me about FF is the consistency, I have tried a few different brands and I keep coming back to FF simply because each time the next best thing comes along everyone tries it untill someone runs into a hot batch or something, I've heard a lot of soils are more attractive breeding grounds for unwanted fungus gnats and soil dwellers that you dont want, specially with soils that contain bark. trust us, joooooiiin uuuuss I like what @donnob said, the difference in your yield wild be worth waaayy more than the R70
  6. only a pleasure with the experimental plants being bag seed they might turn out male, so just keep an eye on that. best for them would be to wait till about 3 sets of true leaves then "pre-sex" them by placing them in a 12/12 light cycle to see what sex they are, males get culled females go back into veg with the rest. if you veg them till they big you gona waste space, time and money. unless you want a big male. that 420mix, who makes it? Is it that 3sixty stuff? I haven't heard too much about it, but still would suggest going for FreedomFarms Premium Classic next time you buy for when you pot up. with it being in a living soil I am assuming you gona go with organic nutrients? that Environoc was the right move, you added some microbes to the soil, they'll form a win win relationship with the roots of the plants and the soil. they "eat" organic compounds that the plant can't break down itself yet, and they "poop" out stuff your plant can uptake. basically... now you gotta keep those little microbes alive by giving it more organic compounds, so stick to organic nutrients, they're rich in organic compounds. I would suggest biobizz with the added organic dry ammendment here and there. hahahah ooh ok cool cool, I am seeing it as a perfect square in the photo, but I see now the pixels look a little distorted in some places have you any IPM in place brother? this is a must for any type of gardener.
  7. what's goood @Dookie69 was watching a cannacribs youtube video last night, got these two screen grabs for you check the video out. there's two different times they discuss the covering of the top of the grow medium. click on the link that takes you to youtube.
  8. Welcome! Looks like you got all the right stuff there bud! Excited to see the difference between the 4 sugarcane phenos and what you do with them! You gona grow the experiment plants out aswell? What soil you using brother, looks a bit barky. That tent doesn't look like it's 120x60, did you get 2 tents or is this something else?
  9. Zkittle#3 last lady in the tent now. Seems this pheno will be making smaller buds than her sisters. I've noticed a lot of cases same genetics making smaller buds when they're more resinous, but this does not seem to be the case here, although I have to mention that she stinks waaaaayy better than her sisters, getting the closest to a true zkittle smell from her out of the 3 phenos. I am already seeing 50% milky trichomes (which I like) but no amber trichomes inside the buds yet (so no chop yet) I am allowing another 2 weeks max (hopefully she puts on a little weight) after 2 weeks still not getting amber and buds still same size she will get the chop nonetheless. I would've assumed the cold will push her to finish quicker, but maybe it's too cold and slowing things down a bit. seeing as she's the only one in the tent I'll give her 24 to 48hr dark periods during the last week to see if I can help the final push and help with trichome ripeness. I have to say I am more excited to get this space all cleaned out and filled up again with the next run than I about the bounty of the current grow.
  10. there are a few generic brands that are local who you can get potting soil from. Reliance being one of them then there's also DoubleGrow and a few others. I have to say I don't really trust any of them. I used to support Reliance, so if I had to choose between the two I would go with Reliance, but get their compost and work it into the beds, not potting soil as it would contain too much sand. Work the compost into the beds, water it in well for a good 2 weeks or so then you're ready to go. Personally if I was making beds, I would go cow poop and put in the physical labour, tilling and watering into the beds for a month or so. We live in farm country, driving through farm areas you bound to find a farm that has compost heaps or cows, very easy to find good manure around.
  11. think @Weskush is trying to build a bed outdoors, he sais 1m x 2m wide and 20cm deep so I am assuming this will be ontop of soil and not completely a box, so I don't think used ff will be best option even if he ammends it with elemental blend.
  12. I agree 2000 is a bit much just for transport, but it does have to travel quite a distance and bulk soil is not something that packs light. I have heard of people scouting around facebook for groups in the areas you need transport between and then make a post there for what you want transported, see if you get any bites. perhaps there's someone with a empty bakkie driving down at some point that's willing to help you for less than 2k atleast, but you still will have to pay transport in any case. they really do have a nice price though and I wouldn't mind trying it myself, but seeing as some forum members are going to try it out for us I might aswell sit back and watch, if it's good stuff it'll get enough support to hopefully make it to the retailers around here, hopefully.
  13. what I did for my upcoming outdoor grow, because I am growing in pots, I just took all my old ff soil and added 30% of it's weight in wormcastings. done been sitting for 2 or 3 weeks now. will plant in it by Oct.
  14. hahahah sheeeeet sorry brother, that wasn't meant as an suggestion for you, juuuust cz prom was referring to mr.canuk who mixes a premix organic dry ammendment that's why I show those, that's a similar product, but yeah for your situation I would recommend either the elemental blend as above, or just keep it plain and simple and grab a bag of wormcastings. WAIT, first gotta ask. what you are working with already? I see this is for a raised bed. the existing soil, is it right for gardening? no use to moer a bunch of expensive products on some seasand soil or some clay rich soil, so knowing what you working with is key here. now you gona look for a base, because you can't mix the whole thing with wormcastings either... I have made MANY MANY MANY garden beds. and when I say MANY....... lol. just have a look at the beds at Babylonstoren Gardens in Fraschoek, great inspiration there, they remake those beds monthly and have literally hundereds of beds all made in different ways and with different little tips and tricks. As part of my permaculture internship I worked those beds for a while... Maybe show a picture of the area, dig like a spade depth, see the soil profile, if it's too sandy or too much clay you gona have to work the bottom soil first. THEN you fill ontop. get in contact with the nearest dairy farm around your area, ask them what a bakkie load of fresh cow manure will cost. befriendly, they don't sell the stuff like that and if you get your wording right you might be getting a bakkie load for free. otherwise search for local compost makers, go to where they make the stuff and ask for the freshest straight from the cows stomach poop. you can use horse poop too, but they carry loads of weeds, because a horse does a poor job of digestion. a cow has 4 "compartments" in their stomach so they digest weed seeds and their poop is way waaaayy hotter. with either of these, once you filled the bed you gona have about a week of stinky smells lingering in your yard (I love the fresh farm smell) probably a bit more so with cow poop, but then horse poop attracts gnats. so again the cow poop wins. you gona have to let it sit and water the stuff in for a good month, tilling once weekly, but don't plant anything for a month or you'll burn the shit out any plants. from there you golden, you gona work that little bed for a good long time before having to bring in new soil again or top dress with new compost.
  15. fokken naaaas boet am I tripping or is that duct coming right through the qb? if you got a christmas tree by Dec, you gona sit with roughly another 5 to 6 months before the outdoor flower season starts. by that time you should have the 200L pot fully grown in. which would probably be just too big to flower her inside. and outside will be bit of a stretch unless you give her an even bigger pot or go straight into the ground to push her through till outdoor flower cycle starts then grow a 2kilo plant hahahah
  16. 420 friendly accommodation, will be sure to get some attention infact, so 420 friendly you'll be camping out in the grow space right next to the plants!
  17. I do not have a instagram account, but that is a very interesting video indeed!
  18. to be honest I was under the impression that all the original genetics from the plant that was grown to cross with, which would have been this "skunk" weed, had seen so many different grow rooms/setups all over the world and now exists in other strains to certain extent, but the first true "skunk" unbread or crossed with, was called "skunk#1" and that it's basically just a myth these days could be way off with this, but hey this is what I have heard and how my perception of the situation sits at the moment, if you could tell me more on the subject? maybe I should dig into it a little
  19. I think this is the closest premix product we have around that is organic dry amendments. other than this I guess we gotta mix our own for now, but this stuff works! https://www.futurama.co.za/green-house-feeding-hydroponic-nutrients-combo-bio-grow-bio-bloom/
  20. this is key brother, original skunk#1 does not exist anymore. well, I shouldn't say it doesn't exist at all, because I haven't met every single grower on the planet, but even the highly regarded growers of the world who are doing some big shit, the cannabis kings can't even get their hands on the skunk#1 everyone is looking for. chances are it might still be growing somewhere, but probably not somewhere it's meant to be found. I would bet it's either being shared amongst a select few who know what they are doing and care to preserve the genetic, or it just doesn't exist anymore. next best thing is phenohunting a variety of hybrids that some breeder is calling "skunk#1" because he made a cross that seemed similar to the skunk and you might find something similar to what you're looking for. this is really only if one has ever had the privilege to experience original skunk and can remember what to look for, otherwise how would you even tell if it was what it's supposed to be, even if you do find the original genetic?
  21. how those trichomes looking @MrE that seems like you growing just a bud and no leaf amymore hahah looks good man I have never grown autos, but they look like they finishing up?
  22. Hitler? who's he? I try to keep myself from "political" discussions, soooo just for interest sake... you guys hear of a strain with the name "God Bud"? how you feel bout that name seeing as the killing of people in the name of religion is a war that is still ongoing to this day? there are a bunch of names I feel is so wrong for weed, but then again there's that "punch" behind the words we all like. we all know the word "dank" means it stinks and is unpleasant or moist... that don't sound right... but we all know why that "bad" discription is used, it catches attention. part of marketing is trying to catch attention and get people talking bout the very thing. as we are right now. this, by no means, justifies the glorification if anything that bares tragedy, but governing what people are allowed to call strains, what would be the calling? and who get's to draw the line, and where? because, like I mentioned the religion thing, atleast 50% of humans are very well religious and will defend their religion to the grave, other 50% of the people just live life according to their moral compass. you can dictate and say "No more bad names with negative connotation for weed strains", then the whole world agrees and next day some guy wants to call his bud "god bud" because he feels there's no negative energy. that will cause even more negative energy than just not telling people what to think in the first place, or what to call their weed... you have the option to support it or not support it, buy the seed or not buy the seed. but sadly we don't have the option to tell people what to name their weed or how to feel about the names that are given to them. I will say this though, it's a damn hard hitter strain that I would like to grow myself, because I am after the weed. Not like I am contributing to the "Support Hitler Foundation" in any way, shape or form. I also don't see how I will be glorifying him if I grow that plant? I will have good weed, that's for sure.
  23. @Bay Seeds also made a good move here as to have their seed grown out by a guy who knows what he is doing, the richness that really matters (knowledge and experience in this case) and having their genetics portrayed in a good light. the last thing I meant is that you are rich financially and that's why you're getting a free seed.
  24. @The_StonedTrooper you don't get the joke? I am sure you are aware of aphorisms..... you have a lot of a certain thing and now you get more of it. a prefessional in a certain league will get sponsors thrown his way. I hoped you would see the compliment in what I said. sorry to confuse, hope I didn't offend you bro
  25. @The_StonedTrooper the rich gets richer hey
