Outdoor Coco Grow v1.1

Recommended Posts

So I had extra coco, a volunteering plant and the will to try something.  So I potted a Mendocino Skunk from a 25L to a 45L pot and waited 2 weeks to see if she reveged. But she just kept in flowering.

I started feeding her flowering nutes tonight at a ph of 5.5. The runoff was 6.2. Not sure if thats good or not but the lady is looking fine. I defoliated her and cleaned up at the bottom

Hi, I did simular with outdoor. Had extra 50/50 coco perlite and put 1/3 of a 100L of that then some cannabiz comlost/soil, mix a bit between the two layers and topped up with the compost, put a scrog net over the 2 girls and they flowering nicely now.
Will add pic later tonight.
Stupid question - does outdoors also flower in the 8-12 weeks?

I totally agree and with that thinking most of the coco/perlite is in the bottom of the pot with the finer composts on top, last 2 weeks( temps was mid 20's) I just watered it once a week and they loved it. Its used one of those blue 225L plastic drums cut in half.

@GGG that's some really nice growing youve got going there. I have 2 of those blue barrels. Maybe it's time to cut that in half for next season. Or maybe sink it into the ground like my pots. 🤔🤔🤔

Regarding your question about the flowering, its all strain dependant. The Mendicino Skunk will finish in 9 maybe 10 weeks as to the 8 weeks indoor.

@PsyCLown, yeah watering might become an issue but luckily I do checks every morning and night (if I don't work late) so watering will be taken care off. At this point she takes about a week to become light enough to water again. I want to start a 4day cycle of watering and feeding and later  day cycle.

Her leaves started cupping a bit but it was quite warm. Moving her under the shade cloth is a good choice cause the summer sun will toast her roots.

She has become quite bushy again after the cleanup last week. I will get in there with a pair of scissors later this afternoon. Just need to let everyone go and take their afternoon nap then its time for coffee, angry music and cleaning up.

Im basically giving the outdoor Coco the same treatment as indoor where I'll defoliate to get sun to the buds.

Other than these pics, nothing else is happening. Her smells is yummy when working with her

She stood still for a little while and then I just covered her more against the hue from the kitchen window and then she just went on flowering.

Got a few pics that I reckon shows her size. She is much bigger than what I anticipated and the yield should be decent.

I still need to get in there for round 2 of defoliation, but the trichomes is so much that even the fan leafs has crystals on them. So I'm still considering the defoliation cause I want to make HASH!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey all

Wind was a mother fucker today and yesterday. I am really surprised that the plant haven't snapped or taken any damage. She were bent in ways that made my stomach turn. But before the rain came I went and placed her inside. The reason for that is that she is so much more bushier and I don't want her to get wet. She is super sticky and smells to high heaven. The thought of bud rot  just pops into my mind so she gets a little bit more love than the others...

Here is a top view of her. Her canopy was measured and it is 850 x 750. Not bad at all for something that was unplanned....... 😐😐😐......

IMG_20200119_095121.thumb.jpg.72e77c801c676bd53c17d8b796909b70.jpg

This is where the pics start to get interesting. I switched on the flash and that turned my excitement up a couple of notches. I have spotted 2 or 3 whiteflies but couldn't find any more after moving the plant inside for maintenance. I did however find an adult and baby stink bug. Killed it straight away.... Any of you suffered stink bug damage.... If not, they are destructive. They suck on the grow tips and then the tip starts wilting and dies and goes black and crispy. All within a day. So I kill them when I see them 🙊🙊🙊

IMG_20200119_094111.thumb.jpg.2beb8735701e23bc3893a206a7aa763f.jpg

A view from the top and one of the buds with flash on, cause without the flash it just looks boring. Some of the tips is cupping but that due to the heat and all the wind didn't help either, but apart from that she has so much trichomes it's not even funny. I can't touch her and touch anything else.

IMG_20200119_093958.thumb.jpg.416be77340e8485b151631d641103b3a.jpg

And last, but not the least, two photos of the lady with and without a flash just to give you an idea of bushy and full of buds she is.

End of the day I love the idea of doing a coco grow outdoors. With that being said I have to say that a 45L pot just does not cut it. Next season I will go with a 60L and maby a little bit better training for next year's gusts of wind...

Have a good Sunday and may the week be blessed with good vibes and good weather......

Well the wife went to the mall and it was time to water and feed. So with the misses out of the house I fetched this monsterous plant and brought her inside and placed a fan near her to get rid of any wetness from the rain we got. After 6 hours of drying her out I continued to the next step. Instead of feeding her today I opted for a good dose of Epsom Salt and gave her a flush.

IMG_20200126_123249.thumb.jpg.bdccb14999d9bcba7e3973bb1e97fc25.jpg

From today onwards I want to keep to the 3 day cycle of watering and feeding. The buds is starting to fill out more and I can start to feel the buds getting some body and firmness

The leafs at the top started to cup after that heat wave we had. I thought that was the reason, but it hasn't recovered yet. None of the other leafs lower down is doing it so I'm not to worried. At first I thought that my pH was off cause I just watered with tap water a few times before feeding due to running out of nutes......in January. And the tap water pH is 7.8

The buds themselves is super sticky and I only managed to do a very light defoliation because she is very bushy and getting in there is rather crap, but I'm keeping my eye on the plant to make sure every bud site gets as much direct sun as possible...

Things is moving along sweetly and the buds is fattening more as time goes by. Still can't touch her without getting all sticky so gloves for trimming is a must.

Time is getting to a point it seems cause the leafs started yellowing slightly. I'm still feeding at full strength and she takes it like a champion.

All of the pics were taken this morning as the sun came over the mountains, so the flash didn't interfere with the flowering cycle. Has anyone grown Mendocino Skunk before???

HELP NEEDED

She was fine and no problems. I 1st saw her yellowing and thought it's normal and I didn't bother with her.

IMG_20200219_182548.thumb.jpg.847369759897d6cefcb6ecb00e8ec068.jpg

Then I noticed the leafs doing this. Again, she is almost done so it's normal (in my mind) but I kinda knew something was up

IMG_20200219_182554.thumb.jpg.ac67a3ed8aefeb76e8305f5c7837b460.jpg

The under growth started dying back and so did the fan leafs. The under growth was also dying back

IMG_20200219_182706.thumb.jpg.9b7e4728cb02100df5c596666ce16cfb.jpg

IMG_20200219_182609.thumb.jpg.32f4d443fcd0406d9a31dd3890cd5531.jpg

And then I saw this when I got home. Pretty sure it's not normal. Please, any advice.

Aweh @Smelly Joe
Shit that plant does look weird, the leaves look as if it's from 3 different plants.
Not sure what your plant has exactly, but I had something here last week that baffled me. My 3rd Chocolope lady (non comp) started doing something similar,
1st yellowing leaves
2nd wilting leaves and buds
3rd wilting and drying of whole branch
4th dead branch and buds

Thought all was normal with the yellowing due to buds looking sweet and next morning it's wilted. It was progressive, starting at the top and working it's way down every branch over about 2 weeks. I isolated the plant completely as I thought it could only be a virus, as it was very agressive, it killed the whole plant eventually.

Maybe some of the other growers can shed a little light.

Check your medium. Had the same happen to a exo cheese.. These christmas beatles dig into the soil and those fat white worms eat the roots I think. I might have it all wrong. But they die brach by branch. Luckily had enough time to clone before she died completely. Another theory is root rot but I do not have enough experience to say excactly what it could be. Examine the stem of the dying branch and check for worms inside the stem.. Outdoors can be a bitch sometimes. Good luck. @Totemic might have a theory. Its real shitty having your lady die on you this far in.

@Bospatrollie2 @Stinger96, thank you very much for the reply. I will be keeping an eye on her but the way the leafs are yellowing is crazy. I'll inspect her this morning when the sun comes up and then I'll be able to see if anymore issues has arisen. I flushed the medium with a ph of 5.7 and will check it out.

Can this be a ph issue maybe aswell??? I checked out water this morning cause this had me awake again at 04:00 just to cover all the bases and found that out water has a pH of 9.3. The day before yesterday the ph was still 7. The water people is fucking with our water again it seems.

So I took a few pics before heading to work. I moved her from her normal spot to an area that's less direct sun but more chill especially today with the heat. Tonight I'll flush again with 5.5 water. She is really close to harvest and I'm thinking of chopping her and sometime this weekend or next week. Trichomes is milky and just starting to turn and pistils is also changing color.

But as always, opinion is welcome

Yeah she looks better than what I expected after seeing the close ups.. Just remove the dead leaves in the bud. It tends to cause bud rot.. pul out the whole leaf. Your Ph issue in your tap water might be the culprit.. Im sure the more experienced guys will sort you out soon.. but you are so close to harvest anyway but will be cool to know..

Yo sorry I only looked at this thread now, this sounds like a kind of mold/fungus/rot/mildew (dont know the name) that infects a branch, then carries on along that branch, worst case the whole plant gets it.

Sometimes this would be a old wound from a insect or something similar that gets infected and spreads through the plant, usually after wet weather.

This is something that roses struggle with, not sure if this is the same problem or exactly how it spreads, i would clean any scissors/tools used on that plant with some good disinfectant before using it again.

I decided to chop her and take what I could get. Another 2 weeks would've been awesome but atleast I have some bud now while I wait for the rest to finish.

I lost quite a bit due to bud rot or some rot. So I'm cleaning out all the small undergrowth of the other plants

The Terra Aquatica General Hydroponics Ebb & Grow Irrigation System offers an easy-to-use system ideal for both new and experienced growers. With an automatic irrigation system to ensure that the nutrient solution is pumped to the tray to feed plants, it will automatically stop working once the substrate is sufficiently watered and the nutrient solution will drop back to the tank. Durable and adaptable to the grower's needs, this irrigation system is highly functional, manufactured from 100% recycled materials while remaining durable.

Produce more, more easily, without wires, tubes and complicated systems. Want to grow hydroponic herbs and vegetables at home, work or school, but put off by the complexity of the systems? The Ebb & Grow means you can use any pot you like, almost any substrate (although we recommend CocotekPX), and move plants around at will. Herbs in the front and tomatoes and chillies in the back? No problem. All salads this month and cut flowers from pots next? No problem. All our hydroponics systems are flexible, but the Ebb & Grow really is the most adaptable system we have ever made, and with no risk of leakage or overflow, easy disassembly and cleaning, it can be used anywhere that space is available.

The GHE Ebb & Grow is an “ebb and flood” design: a simple timer (not included) runs a pump intermittently to bring nutrient solution up to the growing table, where it flushes spent air from the roots of your plants, waters and feeds them, then pulls fresh air in as the water drains back down to the reservoir.

The system can hold up to thirty-two 15 cm plastic pots, twenty-two 1 gallon (3.75L) fabric pots, or as many larger pots as you can fit on its 88 cm square growing surface, and with a height of just 38 cm low ceilings are not a problem.

      FEATURES
      100L reservoir capacity
      Automatic Irrigation System
Provides Excellent Oxygen Source to Root System
      Easy to Use
      Great Yielder System
Ideal for New or Experienced Growers
      Adaptable to Grower's Needs
Adaptable to Many Substrates for Growing (Clay, Perlite, Coir & Soil)
Grow in any pots, with coco, clay pebbles or soil

      Aweh,
So my one plant is starting to turn brown on the tips on and I'm sure its not nutrient burn, could it be  a potassium deficiency and how would I be able to fix it?
If its not potassium deficiency please help me identify what is wrong.
