Welcome to the diary of my 3rd grow (technically)!

After a great 1st harvest I popped some Auto seeds by a local breeder. It failed terribly. Think I'll be sticking to photo's for now haha 😂

A great friend and fellow member of the forum felt sorry for me having seen this, convinced me to let them go and gifted me 4 plants he had in Veg. 3 of which were cuts from my last grow. (Thanks buddy! @CreX)

So in this diary we have 4 plants, 3 clones of pheno #3 from my last grow (Deluxe Sugarcane) and a Bananium, all from In-House genetics. Super excited for the fruits of this one!

As you can see below, all 3 plants were at different stages of life and so required a bit of a change in the way I grew these.

(Sorry for the bad picture)

I went out and got a SCROG net, this seemed to be the only way to end with them all "Somewhat" level. I'd just keep tucking the larger 1 until the smaller 3 were able to catch up.

The Bananium was not stretching as quick as id like, thats the most-left plant, raised it with a plastic bowl I had in the kitchen and flippped shortly after.

They were left in Veg for a month, weren't exactly the happiest plants when received, so was happy to see it all sort itself out once put in bigger pots and given some food.

I'm still going with BioBizz nutrients, in Veg I switched between Bio-Grow and Fish Mix and used both alongside Bio-Heaven. Sticking with 50% strength for this grow, and have been watering at a PH of about 6.3-6.6.

Having a slight pest issue this time around, I believe they're fungus gnats, opinions on them seem to vary but I'm managing with them it seems. Trying different ways to get rid of them without the use of pesticides as I have just entered the 3rd week of flower.

Here's how they're looking now, will try update once a week from here.

My 2nd net looks super sloppy, it's too big and doesn't make for good pictures, but here it is.

The end of week 4. Shaping up quite nicely. Wish I had got the canopy more even but I'll learn from that!

Going to take it a bit easier on the nitrogen me thinks, tips curling on quite a few of them. They need water tonight, pics taken while ladies were thirsty.

Another week gone! Ladies are looking pretty good in my opinion. End of Week 5. Now past the half way mark possibly another 4 weeks to go.

It's been an interesting grow, have learnt a shit ton all over again. Looking forward to the next batch already! Haha.

Been messing around with the camera, cannabis is a great model!

  • 2 weeks later...

I somehow completely missed the update last week, but here I am 2 weeks later haha.

The 2 week gap really shows the progress. Checking on them everyday can sometimes make things seem like they're not doing much. The proof is in the ppudding they say!

Bananium showing some nice purples in the leaves, while the Deluxe Sugarcane just gets frostier by the day. DS leaves have gone a very light green weirdly, I remember it doing the seem thing on the last run. The burnt tips of all the plants also resemble the last run, clearly haven't quite figured out the nutes yet. I will get there!

  • 2 weeks later...

We're in the final stretch here! Past the 8 week mark, watching the trichomes for chop day. 🤘

I'm loving the colour this cold weather brings. Seeing the 2 strains react in their own ways to it is interesting too!

The Bananium has me really excited at the moment, rather sad though as I wish I had let this girl get bigger. I won't be harvesting much Bananium from this tent, it was the smallest plant in the beginning and could not compete with the stretch of the Deluxe Sugarcane. Overall I'm happy with the turn out. Growing for myself means I get to smoke all this beautiful bud, and boy am I happy with the product!

In case you're wondering, the smaller dark plant on the left is Bananium, the other 3 are all Deluxe Sugarcane. Very easy to tell the difference in pictures.

Let me hear some comments, things I could maybe improve on for the next grow, I am still such a noob at this! 😂

So I thought my next post would be telling the tale of a chop, yet here we are past the 9 week mark still waiting for them ambers 😂. Thinking this may even stretch to 10 weeks at this rate.

Very few amber trichomes on sugar leaves, still some clear on the buds. Will be checking daily from here, I feel I chopped a bit early my last grow and so it's definitely not a mistake I want to make again.

I'm seeing even more purple pop through which is an awesome sight to see, bananium just seems to be getting fatter by the day, foxtailing is something new to me too, definitely genetic related.

If you use Biobizz, i have you a little change. Since i use a refractometer to check my leaf sugar levels, noticed Biobizz is to low on sugar.

My change is simple. Stick to Grow during Veg and swap to FishMix for flower, plus add molasses yourself, 2-3ml per liter. Grow just doesnt has enough sugar to raise to 15% sugar content in the leaves. Your plants will have perfect conditions for photosyntesis.

Rest, nice job! 😎:-clap

I do believe that Biobizz recomends the opposite, "it is beneficial to replace Bio·Grow® with Fish·Mix™ in the vegetative phase but switch to Bio·Grow® when you want to trigger flowering."

So Fishmix for veg, BioGrow for flower. I was also corrected once by @Totemic as at the time I was doing the opposite by mistake.

But if you meant what you meant @Prom then that would be very interesting and I would need to dig deeper into that.

I know is the opposite what they write 😂 the issue is the sugar isnt enough to get to the right Brix numbers.

1 liter Grow = 750ml FishMix + 250ml molasses

Grow for Veg is fine to get the sugar you need. I also am more on 12% in Veg. Flower i prefer 15% or more. Is also a question of strain, but i noticed no negative side effect if you even go to 20%. Low sugar means less photosyntesis.

This diary is at its end and I'm quite pleased with the results.

Dry weight came in at 150g from all 4 plants, I hoped for 200 but we'll get there on the next run hopefully 😂.

Trying something new and exciting for this next run with a bunch of different strains, look out for the new diary 😁.

Thanks to all who took the time to have a look here and give their input. Always great to hear from others! Much love peeps ❤️
