  1. Here a Lesotho landrace to excite you:
  2. I was chatting with a colleague of mine in the USA yesterday and we were having a good laugh about his ADHD and cannabis. He is amazing when it comes to pattern finding and that is what the joke was about. He uses cannabis to help him focus and swears by it. I have another mate here in South Africa who was sadly put on Ritalin, I honestly believe it screwed his entire life up. He managed to matriculate from high school and followed the arts. I think it screwed up alot of lives and maybe even led people to harder substances. "Children diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are at increased risk for substance abuse. Response inhibition is a hallmark of ADHD, yet the combined effects of ADHD and regular substance use on neural networks associated with response inhibition are unknown." Source
  3. Lobbyists bemoaned the draft Cannabis for Private Purposes Bill during a three-day public participation process in Parliament this week. The bill allows for the private possession and use of cannabis. The unregulated cannabis industry is estimated at R28-billion. “We reject the bill.” This was the recurring sentiment as one by one criticisms were levelled against measures in the proposed Cannabis for Private Purposes Bill, during public hearings held by Parliament’s Justice and Correctional Services committee this week. While interested parties were not opposed to the bill being passed, they argued that it needed to be revised. Pro-marijuana use lobbyists complained that heavy restrictions placed by lawmakers on cannabis use and possession is a failure to recognise the socioeconomic potential for cannabis to alleviate poverty and boost the local economy. Parliament was criticised for failing to consult effectively with the public before drafting the bill. Researchers and indigenous communities said that without consultation the bill failed to accurately distinguish between “hemp” and “dagga” and their differing uses; it placed unrealistic limitations on THC levels; over-exaggerated the harms of cannabis and failed to recognise the nutritional as well as environmental potential of cannabis to produce biofuel. The genesis for the hearings dates to September 2018 when the Constitutional Court handed down a landmark judgment that South Africans had the right to consume cannabis in the privacy of their own homes. This effectively decriminalised the private use of marijuana. Cilo Cybin Pharmaceutical cannabis plants in a grow room at the company’s facility in Centurion on 20 August 2021. (Photo: Waldo Swiegers/Bloomberg via Getty Images) The court gave Parliament 24 months to change the legislation to align with the ruling. Though the deadline was missed, the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development has since released its draft Cannabis Master Plan – a strategy to industrialise and commercialise the controversial plant. According to the Master Plan, South Africa’s largely black-market cannabis industry is estimated at R28-billion. The number of cannabis users is about 3.4 million and Interpol rated South Africa as the fourth-largest producer in the world. As part of the Master Plan, the draft bill, passed by Cabinet in August 2021, outlines the rules for the possession and cultivation of marijuana. Source
  4. Everyone seems to have an issue with guys putting their cocks on a block, risking millions. Been watching a couple legal grows for a couple years now and can only say the opposite to what you think. ON the other hand lots of "legal" growers are sitting with kilos not being able to do anything with it. Can you imagine how that feels. Well done to these guys who are taking the chance, commercialize cannabis. Hats off to you living the dream.
  5. That is very cool @Van Wijk, well done on making your own setup. I wish I could get there, but need to take the first step. Just came across this Tenti Controller, only 100 are being built and sold, shipped from November 2021. Tenti WiFi Grow Tent Controller https://growershouse.com/tomatotent-controller-stand-alone-controller
  6. Yes although the original law was found to be imposing on our privacy and rights, limiting the amount of plants to 8 flowering plants is a further invasion of our privacy and like you say other "criminating" factors. But like Jeremy said yesterday, 8 plants is just a guideline, its not law and there is no limitation on the amount of plants you want to grow.
  7. I believe this to be BS to, there is no legal limit of plants/ or recommended amount of plants. Its just a guideline for now. That is correct. I actually have Jermeys speech for today, if I could only find an easy way to upload. One part I will quiote:" 9. That is like asking the real criminals to become judges or to act as wolves might do to decide for the rights of sheep.". Love it.
  8. Late last night i received this whatsapp from Jeremy Acton, leader of the Dagga Party: " All participants in this spoken submission process who get to speak, please declare NO CONTRACT with the Bill, and DECLARE A VETO on further process of the Bill. Please declare the Bill to be COMPLETELY REJECTED. The same is going for the Umzimvubu Farmers Support Network, FOGFA, Schindlers, ECDC, and a couple others that are involved. So I take it that the powers that be are trying to screw us as usual. Thankful for having great people mentioned above looking after our interests while we smoke and grow in peace.
  9. Thats an interesting article @Stinger96and thanks for sharing. Legal limits for personal, legal use at home are set to: unlimited for seeds and seedlings four flowering plants for those living alone, or eight for homes with two adults or more. 600 grams of dried cannabis if you live alone, or 1.2 kilograms in homes with two or more adults. In public places, possession is set to 100 grams of cannabis or one flowering plant. Source The future in these strange days is not easy to predict. I was speaking just last week with a guy heavily involved in the manufacturing of CBD products and there is a current court case with regards to the legalities. It could shutdown our new CBD industry if it goes through! I am hoping that cannabis stays legal for personal use and consumption and think it will be guaranteed as its clearly established that its for privacy. However, I think the cannabis framework for the market will be filled with corruption and loose ends, just like the R$D cultivation licencees find themselves currently. ANC does have a knack for screwing everything up.
  10. That is amazing ,stem that size in a pot so small. Nice growing. Probably just a outsider marsupial doing some stem art on something so interesting. Yip a porcupine might have knocked it over ( top heavy ) while a field mouse would not be able to.
  11. Dont hurt the porcupine and just piss him off by raising your pot a couple inches. Also consider covering the bottom of the stem because the removal of the out layer will effect nutrient uptake, especially in the cold.
  12. I think it could be a small house mouse or something along those lines/mole/rat. Unlike ringbarking trees, water and nutrients for cannabis flow up the internal part of the stem, so it should not be a problem.
  13. You can say that again, 4 days before the biggest cannabis event of my life, it was all cancelled due to COVID. I was about to print shirts, caps, flyers. And then had to pay back about 5k to add insult to injury. Not entering, but making a plan to be there. It really does look like its going to be a great event.
  14. Wondering how we get parcels in from over the seas and who to use. Sadly I been using SAPO most of my life but after receiving a parcel today that took 9 months to receive, 3 months faster than the last parcel. Plus our postmaster has found a new job and the branch closed down a month or two ago. Who do you use? I cant be bothered anymore with SAPO, but I did give them a 5 star review for progress.
  15. Smoking this delicious piece of wedding cake.
  16. A video made by Bertie from the Canna Club, 4/5 days of cannabis packed into 1.5 hours. Enjoy, please like share and subscribe.
  17. Just saw this post now. Being in cannabis you learn to grow trust issues, but its a basic human requirement, trust. Without a doubt, Skunk, Durban is used as a marketing tool and probably most strains available have nothing to do with the original name. Skunk for instance became famous in the UK as it was used by police in media and generally was used to refer to highgrade indoor, Skunk/Chronic. So what happened, smokers would ask their dealers for the real skunk. You have to filter through the BS, read up on people with street cred ( Maljim, Todd McCormick, Joseph Pietri, Mel Frank, Sam the Skunkman, Mowgli Holmes ) find out about the strains and then start growing them.
  18. We hijacking the Skunk thread. I would love to share more info about the Durban, and have written a 2500 plus word article on it that has yet to be published. Very nice video you shared and important to know from the source what is happening. Its the same sentiment I get from sharing Durban seeds to medical grows in Lesotho, hence my words further up on this post about seedsman. However, he was not the only person to collect Durban. There are a couple breeders that collected them, seeds went to the USA, Europe and Canada ( Dana Larsen ). Nothing came of the seeds in Canada but we also had a local breeder ( Afropips ) who worked with Durban in the UK in the early 2000's, on top of that in the late 70's, early 80's we had a smuggler start a Dagga coffeeshop in Amsterdam. He specialised in Durban. Glad to say Durban Poison is rated as the top 10% rarest profiles on Phylos and that specific Durban has been tracked for about 40 years from source. Its now sold as a hybrid on growlikejoe.com
  19. What a lekker event last night, ended up getting home damn late, meeting some new and old growers. A nice turnout from our local community and people coming as far away as from Grahamstown and Kenton. I think we had about 50 people turnout. What a laugh, we even dabbed in the pub and sniffed some snuff, after curfew !!!!! The nurse that was in attendance was not happy!!!!! Lots of interest from the farming community too, some big things coming. We, as a community, might be starting a cannabis club. Thank you Growone.africa.
  20. Sorry for the late post, about to go to the event at my local. Growone.africa have been doing a roadtrip up from western Cape and through to Natal. They are doing live talks about the cannabis social club they manage and the current legislation. It might be worth attending one or two. Having a talk tonight at my local in Bathurst, and the Agricultural Museum. Its going to be dope. Catch them in IG as they move up the coast. I think the next event is in East London. These are the guys that run several social clubs software and compliance, one being the Pottery in PE and the Turtle House in Jeffreys Bay. Check them out.
  21. Well done on using that method, I have tried changing my rolling many times, but just stick with smoking extra paper!!! Nice papers BTW. Met up again with an old South African in Plett last week who used to work for Nirvana. Imagine the seeds he has access to, I actually did not ask him.
  22. I am glad you followed up with your comment and you are perfectly right, but its also up for debate. Take a deep breath I am not fighting, just pointing out something we seemed to overlook here as internet cannabis growing geeks. You wrong in saying anyone with internet can buy these strains, this is post is a good example. We have a range of geeks on here, with internet, with cannabis knowledge and not aware skunk is here. Evironment, location will change anything, agreed. But you must realise that cannabis has been a big business since the 70s in Europe and later in the USA. Seedbanks like Seedsman have stored seeds seeds since last century, companies like Phylos Bioscience have ripped "DNA" from genetics from the 1800's. Phylos for instance only need a sample of the plant to "sequence the profile", sorry my terminology might be wrong but Iam not a scientist or researcher, but they only needed a plant sample to get the "genetic profile" of a plant. I dont know how it works, I just know its state of the art. I think things will only get better in the future and we will have access to the old strains of yesteryear. People have always said Durban Poison does not exist, two of the most knowleageble cannabis people said to me its BS. I smiled when they said that, but it was crushing. Its like saying Kush does not exist, eventhough its been hybridized etc to hell and back. I think alot goes into making a good smoke, environment, genetics, nutrients, to get the same profile I am sure is difficult but its possible. Not inflating my ego, I have been on the trail of Durban, african landraces for a decade or three. My reasoning was more to do with the culture/packaging and was also the reason I really looked into cannabis as a hobby then. A mate who started growing in the UK around '95 came back and told me about all these unique strains, white widow, Northern lights, skunk, that for me was one of the catalysts for strain hunting but funny enough I was more interested in the packaging naming conventions, DP slugs, pencils and sticks, cobs. You would be an ahole to think they all contained durban or malawi but the sample sticks I have been grown by the same family, from the same region for decades, they all look the same, smoke the same and have been sent overseas for testing and breeding. Whats the problem. You have a guy, who has a background from the 80's, met Mel Frank in the 90's, bred and stored his seeds. Have a little faith and trust. South Africa's market is way behind the curve of cannabis, we are probably at the stage where Europe was in the 1990's.
  23. The grower/breeder of those strains is Todd McCormick, he is direct friends with Mel Frank mentioned in the cool IG post at the top of this topic. He is the man responsible for bringing skunk and a number of other strains to the European market in 80's, 90's. With Todds rep, experience, integrity, I think you will be dealing with the real deal. Unfortunately its Skunk #1 regular from seedsman and not AGseedco. I have always enjoyed seedsman seedbank, they are great, but not to sure about their bulk genetics which I buy. I am sure I sent you pink kush too, grow that out, its on fire at the moment and not found commerically anywhere.
  24. Was pleased to be part of the Joint rolling competition last weekend at the GRCC. Having a lekker debate on FB, and personally believe this competition is great for activism. Here is some video from the event. Personally never seen or entered a joint rolling comp, but it was alot of fun. Big difference rolling on a stage, sealing your joint under the clock than chilling at home rolling a spliff. There were a couple 6 second rolls, I think my best roll was 7.6 and the rest were about 12 seconds. The rules of rolling are, you can make your girrick, prepare your plant matter. Hands on the rolling tray, plant matter on the tray to. The joints need to be smokeable, sealed and dropped on the table. A tip I heard to get a better time is lick your paper first, I never went for it.
