  1. Switched back to 250W MH. After doing a cycle with the 400W my system isn't enough to keep temps at a comfortable level for the plants. I think I may need a small intake fan, such as a 6 inch duct fan to help pull fresh air into the tent to help keep temps down. Would possibly also help with the negative pressure and humidity. Going to experiment again with the 400W MH after I get the intake fan and once the first rain hits in my area. It is hot my dudes.

  3. Both plants looking much better tonight. Temp and humidity stabilising at 32C and 18% respectively. 400W MH bulb is sitting at about 20 inches away from the plants. They seem pretty happy so I'm just going to leave things as they are as long as they keep looking good. I have a feeling I am able to get away with the lower humidity because of the DWC setup. The plants have such direct access to water and nutrients that I think they can manage without optimal humidity levels. Wouldn't mind some rain in general though, it's fokoff dry in my area. The humidity will rise as the plants get bigger anyways, so I'm not too phased that it will have any negative impact.
  4. Added about a teaspoon of epson salts to each res. PPM is sitting at 500 for both. Seedling strength nutes in the res, vegetative stage nutes in the premix nute bottle I use to refill the res's, so the nutes will rise as I replace more water in the res's. Great recovery on the cripple. Roots have touched the res water and rapid growth is expected from here on out. Big sister also coming along nicely, but I think the heat is getting to her a little bit. Seeing some signs of heat stress and relative humidity is still a little bit low. Replaced the 250W MH with the 400W MH to test conditions and it did get a little toasty at first. Max temp reached was 35C, although res temp has so far never broken 26C which is good. I've raised the light up a touch and put my exhaust system from low to medium power. Waiting for the light to come on tonight to see how the temps fare. If temps don't keep below 30C I may just switch back to 250W MH.
  5. Sorted the humidity, without having to buy a humidifier. Lifted the light about half a ruler length and replaced the one large bowl of water in the corner of the tent to two smaller containers at the same level as the plants. Also keeping one vent open for now. Humidity is stable at 35%. Humidity is showing more in the pics because I just used foliar spray Cripple plant is doing well. Daily foliar spray with very light nutes and Kelpak. New leaf growth continues and roots are now much more visible at the bottom of the net pot. Hoping to have the roots hit the water by the end of this week Healthy plant doing the most. Fast leaf growth and roots continue developing at a fast pace since hitting the water
  6. @PsyCLown @CreX check this out
  7. Never been too worried myself with purple stems. In fact, I've always kind of seen them as a good sign of a maturing plant
  8. Damn, these seed packs look pretty kewl I've got another two grows before needing to buy any seeds, if at all, but I'm glad to see supply is good
  9. Looking forward to the grow diary
  10. Thinking of just getting another Humidifier if I can't find my old one.. might've gotten lost in the move I was using the standard wong kong humidifier you get from Clicks. Rate I just get another or go for something a bit better? Or maybe a DIY solution? Apart from the aquarium heater of course I think I'd go for that idea if it were still Winter
  11. Negative on the fishtank heater @CreX but that and having seedlings in the same tent as bigger plants is a good idea @PsyCLown , although I wonder how to do seedlings in say, a tent that's going through flowering with 12/12
  12. Progress with the cripple seedling. Getting back good colour and new leaf growth is forming. A closer look at the bottom side of the net pot shows there is new root growth at the stem and surprisingly no new growth on what was left of the initial root growth. Started a schedule of foliar spray with very light nute 6.0 PH water with a little bit of Kelpak to help with the root growth. The healthy lady is ramping up on root production and leaf growth is sparking up. Been having some humidity issues. Tried to make a homemade humidifier by wrapping the intake ducting with an old lappie and running it down into a bowl of water. The idea was that the passive air would pull moisture off the towel as it came into the tent but I ended up just blocking the intake and caused an even bigger drop in humidity, as low as 13%. Current solution is to revert back to no towel and just keep a large bowl of water within the tent. I've also opened up one of the tent vents on the right side of the tent. Humidity averaging 25%, not bad not terrible. Should slowly rise as the plants get bigger. Lastly, replaced the clear tubing for the airstones with thicker, black tubing as there were signs of slime forming on the clear tubing. Hoping to see the cripple's roots hit the water this time next week
  13. @CreX pushing teas like a Jehovah's Witness
  14. Read through the whole thread, many good lessons to be learnt here That Cape Town wind..maximum nope Wishing you further luck on your grow journey @Nikkel
  15. Very clear, only enough to make the tubing feel slippery to the touch but no handle-able amount. I usually experience this only right at the end of my grows after they have sat in the reservoir for several months. The tubing I used in my initial grow was more opaque than clear. Most recently it was very thin clear plastic tubing that I got from a aquatics store. Now currently using a more rigid, thicker and black coated plastic tubing from Builders Warehouse. Makes the setup look a little better in a weird way. Not expecting any issues to unfold. Reservoirs are bubbling like Hugh Hefner's Jacuzzi and there are no fowl odors. Res temp stable at 21C even with 34C weather outside with no active cooling for the water (the cooler box design is an absolute win in this regard).
  16. Very nice! I am also currently using feminised seeds in my current harvest, also planning on popping some regular seeds on the next one. Hopefully luck is with us and we get females all round
  17. Welcome! Please do not hesitate to show off your stuff
  18. Thanks @Bospatrollie2 and @CreX Going to check out heisenberg tea for sure! Agreed on the daunting nature of throwing anything biological directly into the res. I was already super wary of using the Firejuice directly in the res but in doing that I am more confident in testing out teas in the res. In fact, I've even replaced the clear tubing for my airstones to a thicker garden tubing used for outdoor sprinkler systems because just after 4 days the clear tubing was getting already a little manky and a little slimy. I'll mention it again in the bigger update I will make later in the week when I also take some pics again.
  19. Super awesome my dude! Wishing you the best of luck and a good turn out of irie individuals
  20. Just read through it I like the idea of teas, they look like exactly what a cannabis plant would want to drink as a Sunday milkshake Although how would one apply the tea in a DWC setup? I am hesitant to add any kind of bacteria or microbes to the reservoir in fear of introducing the wrong kind of pathogen that could cause root rot. What are your thoughts?
  21. I can say I did not see any negative to throwing it straight into the res I have yet to dable in teas, I haven't intended on using this grow as yet but whenever I am suggested something I'll always look it up You got any past posts on teas I can lookup or would you do me the kindness of a crash course?
