  1. That plant looks incredibly stressed which is deforming the bud. I'm not seeing anything deficiency wise. I'd even say that whatever food regime/soil currently being used is good. I've only ever had one strain curl up and grow leaves on the bud like that, and it was certainly genetics related and as a result of too much stress/training. Some strains are just better at handling themselves than others. So I would say something is stressing that plant. It's either heat or something with the roots, or both. Did you spray anything on the plant recently?
  2. Hi @RegionX, do you have a picture or link to the strip lights? Some information will be required before one can determine how far those strips will get you.
  3. Merged with other comp thread as there seems to be interest growing there too.
  4. I would want at least 2g per entrant. I think I could get a good judge from that amount. So one would need to send in at least 2g x # of entrants. So if there are 5 bruhs playing, each bruh has to send in 10g, for example. 10 bruhs, 20g each, and so on.
  5. It would be completely up to those participating. I personally wouldn't mind a comp where all the participants are the judges and every person that enters rates all the other entrants and the scores are averaged at the end. The criteria can be completely subjective and reduced to a single number out of 10 per strain per entrant. Smell it, smoke it, rate it.
  6. I believe for an organic/soil based grow one would sprinkle diatomaceous earth on the top soil and water for a boost in silica which in turn reenforces the cell membrane within the plant cells which helps to prevent disease and strengthen the overall plant. When purchasing liquid silica it is recommended to apply as a foliar spray as to not disturb the microbiology within the soil.
  7. Hopefully it doesn't become too much of a walled garden, so to speak.
  8. I've also found that it is dependent on the type of person as well. I've setup some great grows for other people and given them any and all information they've needed when they needed it and short of me having to do the grow myself, they usually would move to other things within a year or two.
  9. If you'd like to get into something coming soon, check out the @THCSA Cape Town Cannabis Cup. Thread here. Application form and ticket links should be there as well. With regards to our own 420SA Cup, I'm always down. Obviously the crowd was more present in the past as that was shortly after the 2018 Constitutional Court judgement which convinced most guys to start growing at the time, including me. Vendors have also been short in supply. I can only imagine this is due to the high over-saturation of hydroponic goods in the market currently as well as the over-supply of second-hand equipment and electronics from guys thinking they could cut it one time perfectly in the first grow. Howzit loadshedding. So spare cash to advertise on a forum instead of just on places like FB or Instagram is a factor for them. Lastly, it wasn't all too long ago that 420SA had an Instagram account but Lord Zuck decided to wipe it off the planet for some reason and another account wasn't made. This probably also lead to less organic traffic heading our way. It's a hard sell to get new guys into growing with this loadshedding kak. It's already hard to learn how to grow by yourself.
  10. You might also hermie your females so it is a delicate balance.
  11. Yes to keep the mother plant in veg that 30W will be enough. To be safe you can also run it 24h seeing as it's such a low wattage and loadshedding vibes.
  12. I wouldn't trust a bag soil mix to use as water only. You will either burn your seedlings or you will need to add something at the end to boost the flower. Have a look at KIS Organics and have a read of some of their articles, you can even listen to the first few episodes of their podcast that will give you a good baseline idea of what should go into a proper super soil that truly is water only (maybe plus a compost tea or two). Point I'm making is that no real medium is going to be water only if you truly want optimal results.

    Weird bumps

Well then I'm a doos. Chris should be happy.

    Weird bumps

Lol if they mean that then I feel like a doos because I'm seeing little bumps along the stem. If they mean just where the plant has been pruned then ja, plant has been pruned.

    Weird bumps

I see what you mean, but it doesn't look to be detrimental to the plants. Maybe a particular insect is making visits which is causing the bumps but nothing quite comes to mind. Keep a watch out and if you see the plants struggle we can take it from there unless somebody else maybe knows what's up.
  16. I don't make any adjustments and I never go over the max dosage. So far it's always given me consistent results.
  17. I basically just use TA TriPart with coco/perlite. I follow the ratios on the bottle and max at 3/4 of the recommended dosage because with my automatic feeding system I don't feel I need to max the dosage because there is always feed available exactly when each plant needs it.
  18. Might as well just throw a hand grenade in as well for good measure.
  19. Wipe down all the surfaces around the inside of the tent and also the blades of any fans that you use.
  20. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of grow equipment getting sold secondhand soon the way things are going.
