  1. I feel the growth is perhaps a bit on the slow side. However there should be some explosive growth soon.

I put some seeds into water on 31 December 2021, by 5th Jan they were in coco in 20L fabric pots and had stalks but few had leaves yet.

This photo was taken on 28 Jan:

There has been some explosive growth since then as well and you would not think it was the same tent if I posted a picture of what it looks like now. Just green everywhere as they're now getting established.

  2. Sorry about the PM and Thrips, although you've spotted it early so I am sure it will not continue to be an issue until the end of flower 😄 💪

I am wondering how much of a difference, if any, would would notice with coco & perlite as opposed to coco & leca?

@Dookie69 You also use autopots, what medium do you use?

  3. I’m trying my hand at Hash (cold water and bags) later this week. I’ll hopefully be able to use the trim from the trim bag for hash.
That is my plan, just need to get off my ass and find time to turn my trim into some hash.

Got everything, just need the time to do it now. Haha

  4. The Trim Bag works well, but there is a learning curve!

As @CreX said, too wet and it does not do much. Too dry and it works, but you need to make sure you do not overtumble it when it is very dry. You actually want the bud to be pretty dry and then rehydrate it afterwards. I find this works the best.

If there is too little bud in the trimbag, it does not work as well. If there is too much in, then also it does not work as well.

The number of "tumbled" or "rotations" will also determine how your bud ends up looking. Tumble it a lot and you start to take away the outer of the bud and you get a more rounded looking bud - some pics on Instagram have this look to them. Generally this leads to les trimming and more just neatening up and getting rid of some crowfeet.

Less tumbles can still remove A LOT of trim and leaf, however leave you with a bit more to trim by hand but will give you more of a hand trimmed look with a lot less effort. Trichomes do not take as much of a knock when done this way.

So there is a learning curve, once you get the hang of it - it works well and can save you a lot of time. I doubt you will notice any difference in terps of potency when using the trimbag compared to a hand trim... unless you really go overboard and start tumbling your bud into a powder. lol

  5. @Furbrain Tent, you could fit 18x 20L pots inside a 1.2 x 2.4m tent. Not saying you should, but you can and many have flowered with that many plants.

More plants in the same space often means smaller plants and therefore quicker veg times, at the same time you don't want to overcrowd your grow space as light penetration can become an issue.

It is nice to have the larger space and fill it up as you start to grow more as opposed to having to sell your current equipment and buy more. So upto you on this, however 3 to 4 plants in a 1.2 x 2.4 is either VERY large plants and long veg times or loads of space still available.

Fans, I use RAM fans (rather cheap) and AC Infinity (pricier). Both seem really good.

For air movement, I like to use box fans as they seem to last longer.

Dehumidifier is a nice to have, but not always necessary - start without one and if it becomes an issue get one. I like the GMC dehumidifiers, well pried and work well.

Tents, well, I say avoid Mammoth. Mars Hydro tents I believe are good and price is not bad. I really like my Budbox tent, but a little more pricy.

Secret Jarden is also not bad, just their Hydro Shoot range take a knock in terms of quality.

As for lights, well, there are loads of options. I use Quantum Boards, but there are lots of options. So you need to decide what might work best for you. The vendors on our forum have lights at really good prices.

The Pokon nutes aren't the cheapest.

For veg, you can get away with buying some Seagro and using that.
For flower you'd want to move away from the Seagro and over to something with lower Nitrogen and higher Phosphorus.

Edit: what else works well I believe which a few members have done is started using the Talborne slow release pellets and mix that into their soil and I believe get away without feeding nutes during veg.
Of course if you notice deficiencies, you can always start adding more liquid nutes then as well.

  7. So there is the argument and something that i've thought about personally.
The 240w qbs are great and work very well, they are just very strong. I'm going to cut mine in half and extent them out to 75cm. Upgrade my 1m to a 1,2m, and move to totes @CreX. Will do 2 strains in each and still have flexibility in that regard.
Abit off topic but, indoor growing is all about flexibility, and with soil, you to need flexibility too, so that's the reason for the totes. Will be easier to keep the soil malleable, the size and different states of the soil.
But back to lights, bar lights are still cool.
Yea, they are quite strong and you can get away with spacing the boards out a bit more if you'd like.

    I find their size works well in a 1.2 x 2.4m and 1.2 x 0.6m tent.

As well as some of the smaller square ones -0.8x0.8, 1x1 and 1.2 x 1.2

In a 1.5 x 1.5 the layout of the boards needs to change but it can work well still.

  8. 1 hour ago, Dread said:

Just thinking of using loam soil? my local nursery has and I’ll get some 20l pots then.

I also have some plant Nutrients not sure the brand but it is the one I water the bonsai with once every week or so.

The seeds are currently in between some cotton. I did put them in water and waited for them to sink before I put them between the cotton.

I have some time today to go to the nursery so going to check what they have and I need.

My shopping list is as follows:

Small pots for planting the seeds when they sprout there first root. 4-8pots

Bigger pots 20l at least 4

    Enough soil for the pots

Lemon juice to spray the plants if they get some mould or insects (was reading it works well diluted 30/70 with water)

If anyone has something I missed please let me know!

Just a f.y.i only thing I have grown is some jalapeños and I have a Red Maple bonsai witch I bought 😀

Yeah, give it a try if you'd like. Make sure there is little to no bark / wood as this often makes the soil too acidic for cannabis.

I have yet to find a nice soil mix which I'd use for cannabis (other than the cannabis specific ones) and this goes for my house plants as well - so I often mix some coco and perlite with a bit of compost or potting soil as house plants often aren't as fussy with the bark as cannabis can be.

Some soils are too hot for cannabis seedlings and you can burn your plants. I do not know what soil your nursery stocks - perhaps consider doing a bit of a test. Get some soil from your nursery for some plants and get yourself a bag of some soil commonly used for Cannabis and see how the results differ (if they even do).

I have seen many new members try grow in soil from their nursery and end up with lots of issues and they end up demotivated because of it, it can also be a nightmare to try and nurse your plant back to health and correct the issues.

Stay far, far away from Culterra.

I plant seedlings straight into 20L pots, however you can start in smaller pots and pot up when needed.

Nice! I have a red lace leaf japanese maple, recently put it into the ground as well as a normal japanese maple and then also a liquid amber.

That Bonsai nutes will likely suffice for veg, in flower you may want something with more P though and a decent amount of K.

Not sure about lemon juice working for pests, maybe for PM as it will lower the PH of the leaves but take it as it comes. Everyone has a different growing environment, so what works for one may not work for the other or the situation may differ.

For now - take it as it comes. There are many ways to grow cannabis, there is not necessarily a right or wrong way.

You need to find what works best for you. People can give you advise and guidance and say what works well for them or what may work well for you and your situation, end of the day you're the one doing the growing and it needs to work for you.

Maybe take a look around the forum, view some of the grow diaries and see what issues some members ran into and how they resolved the issues etc.

  9. Welcome @Dread !

    From Carb?

Outdoor growing, well, currently we're in the flowering part of the season. So you can get some seeds going however plants won't end up as big and yield might be slightly on the lower side but still worth while to get a harvest in before it is too late.

You can always make a quick purchase of some seeds if you'd prefer to know what you are growing, or use this to just gain some experience before winter comes.

If you do not like getting too stonned, then some high CBD strains could be good 😄

As a beginner, I would suggest getting some nice soil which has been tried and proven to work well for cannabis. Incorrect soil can lead to lots of frustrations and issues - best to spend a little more and avoid these issues as a beginner. Once you know what you're doing, you can start to experiment a bit more. Freedom Farms Classic (green bag) is very popular and commonly used. You can also reuse your soil, no need to toss it out after a grow.

If you are unsure about anything, members on the forum will help guide you through your grow to ensure some success.

  10. I really like Quantum Boards, multiple Quantum boards for added flexibility.

Also allows for better airflow compared to some other larger lights.

Bar lights can be nice, you get loads and can get some which are designed for specific sized tents, however you lose a bit of flexibility with individual height adjustment which can become useful if running multiple strains in the same tent or have plants in different stages in veg etc.

  11. Howzit bru. The green discolouration. The mycelium is suppose to be white correct?
Substrate is vermiculite and brown rice flour according to description on B&B's site.
It's difficult for me to notice that unfortunately.

The medium looked a bit different to what I recall.
    Seems you're sorted though.

  12. So the thread @Chris Jay started recently got me thinking...

I thought it might be cool for members to share some of their memorable experiences they have had on weed.

I have more of these than cool places I have smoked at.

Don't have time to type my story out now, however will post it once I get a chance - others are welcome to post theirs in the meantime.

  13. I agree, however big companies and certain practices which are in place is the main driving force behind the fuck up and getting them to make a change is the difficult part.

Either because it doesn't work in their favour and perhaps makes things more difficult for them, or it does not make financial sense.

A friend and I were having a discussion as to whether EVs will be the future or whether they're just the now.
I feel battery technology or power storage technology needs to advance more in order for it to become the future. Lithium is rare and not pleasant to work with, it also costs money to recycle. I do not believe recycling lithium is profitable.

  14. I hear you, it’s a cool idea. Just feel like the new hype is space and all these munney munchers focus on it like it’s the only back up plan. The world is pretty much spent, so let’s look upwards and onwards
Yeah, I get what you mean. It's nice to have options, ideally we'd not have let the earth get to the state its currently in... It's gonna get worse too.

  15. Cool figurine, I just don’t believe in salts or growing shit in space
Majority of food is grown with salts though and astronauts would also like some fresh stuffs in space.

It has its place and purpose.

  16. I think I have also seen a couple of big US players use the Haifa range.
    Why did you move away?
For me, using the powders was a mission.
A mission to weigh each feed, you needed to add one at a time, dissolve it fully before adding the next and ensure you add them in the right order otherwise some of the nutes would precipitate out of the solution.

Also had some weird issues here and there which I couldn't explain, I then moved over to GHE and haven't looked back since. Not saying GHE is the best but it works well and is super easy to use.
