  1. Yes, that does look like PM.

Never used Neem for PM. Try some spraying sulphur / bio sulphur instead - you should get better results for PM 😄

Coppersoap can also work well, but only to be used in veg.

Stoked to see you grow the shizzle out of the banizzle.

Me too! 😄  I know there is potential for some serious 🔥

    Gas on Gas = GAS!

So a quick update, checked that tall plant in the back which did not get a defol and turns out it's female! So that is a win. Need to do a defol on her, likely tonight.

Will do an update over the weekend with a tally of what all is in the tent and which plants from seed are still in veg (I think there are only 2 stragglers).

  3. @Vivid Dreamer Nice! I assume the plants you're running are cuttings you got from others or did you purchase some seeds?

Also keep in mind one does not measure grow lights by their lux/lumen, but instead their PAR (PPFD).

As for affordable grow lights, take a look at our vendors on the forum.

Looking good for a first attempt, I am not a fan of those air pots. Fabric pots I feel do a better job and are easier to work with.

I think it was @Martin7318 who recently got to try some fabric pots and was previously using those air pots.

  4. Howdy!

So been a while since I last had a grow diary.

New year, new grow! Decided to skip through the boring veg part - but to bring you all up to speed I got some seeds from @Golden-Goose and BnB (all regulars). Popped them on 31 December and flipped most on 20 Feb (from seed takes quite a bit longer than from cutting).

So I got the following seeds:

    • GG Wedding Mints (GG Strains)
    • Critical Banana (Old School Genetics)
    • Pineapple Chem (Golden Goose)
    • Dosi Punch (Symbiotic Genetics)

I had fucking horrible luck with the Dosi Punch, only ended up with 1 seedling which stunted and is still in veg. Hoping it is female. BnB won't do anything, the breeder has not responded to me - waste of money unfortunately. Hope this plant makes it worth it though. All other seeds germinated without issues.

I think there is also one GG Wedding Mints in veg as that plant was taking its time and I did not want to wait any longer to flip as some plants were getting pretty darn tall already.

I have already culled 6 or 7 males, there is one more plant which I am certain is male - will double check tonight and cull it if it is infact a male.

At the same time, I decided to try a bit of an experiment and have put some plants into 10L pots, no training. See how that does in terms of yield and convenience.

So this grow diary is a bit of a mix between some plants being grown from seed, as well as an experiment and to ensure the tent is full, I will likely be adding a few other plants into this tent to flower them.

I plan on adding a Banizzle from @THCSA which is a Jungle Boys cross. The bud I saw from this plant looked fantastic and the bud I got to try was superb! The plant I have is from seed so hopefully it is female and we shall see what pheno I get.
However I do plan on buying a pack of the Banizzle and some other seeds from Lank Dank Seedbank in the very near future!

As for the experiment with the 10L pots, I have a mix of plants - some I have run before which are frosty AF but low yielders, some which I have run before which yield well but lack frost and some which I have not run before and have no clue what to expect. These are the strains in the experiment:

    • Platinum Punch (In House Genetics)
    • Bananium (In House Genetics)
    • Crescendo (Ethos)
    • Zweet Insanity (Ethos)
    • Citradelic Sunset (Ethos) x2

I do not think I will be focusing much on the experiment, more on the other plants in the 20L fabric pots.

Here is a pic I took over the weekend after I did a defol. The plant at the back which is still busy.... pretty sure its a male.

  5. Growing from seed and doing a comparison isn't ideal, there can be quite a few differences when growing from seed. I have purchased packs of seeds where one plant looks nothing like the other and then a 3rd one is more along the lines of what I'd like.

I have also grown the same cutting a few times and due to inconsistencies, ended up with bud which looks as if it could have been from a different strain despite it being a cut from a known pheno.

Small changes can make big differences and depending on how accurate you want the comparison to be, you need to try ensure everything is as much the same as possible. Although possibly too late to look at sourcing 2 clones of the same plant - still going to be cool to see the differences, although differences in terms of terps, trichomes, yield, bud structure all go out the window and cannot be accurately compared.

To put it into perspective, the below two pics is the same strain, just different phenos.

Not the biggest difference I have noticed, just what I have pics of.

It seems that not many salt growers use peat moss as a substrate. However, i'm not sure how reasonable it is in comparison. It has sparked my interest for a long time though. I've still got +- 20l of the Lithuanian peat moss, and i'm not making more soil, maybe ill throw an experiment plant in with the next round, id be happy to use some nutes to display what the peat can do for salt growers. Still got some salts laying round but its the GH Floro coco bloom nutes about 3 years old.

Although not sure how many of these avid growers would even care🤔 probably just do it anyway. 😛

Yeah, never really looked into moss over coco.

I see there is this comparison, must still read through it though. https://rollingmountainkush.com/june2020/2020/06/07/coco-coir-vs-peat-moss.html#

EDIT: Just read it now, very short read. I think I may stick to coco for now though.

Wetting agent and try buffer the PH sounds like more of a mission than dealing with coco and CEC - which is really not difficult to do.

There is other options. Klassmann-Deilmann makes a variety of products that normal nurseries use. But the grow shops do not stock these products as it is expensive as it is imported from Europe and not the Far East.
They make a Plug Mix that nurseries use to start seeds in. they also make specific products to start cuts in. They are all pre fertilised and pH6 so you only need to water for the first 2-3 weeks. Problem with this is they only come in 200l bags. So you have to be quite a big grower to use that much.

I would like to see how Cannabis plants do in these mixes. Especially grown with salts.

Where could one get these in Gauteng and what is the price on a 200L bag?

It says peat moss though, not coco?

  8. Hey @greenkush

I am using BioLeaf at the moment.. and canna nutrients. So far ok, nothing real to complain about.. yet I am not 100% sure about the BioLeaf.
Spoke to one of their staff members and according to him it is washed, rinsed and buffered. But if I take "virgin" BioLeaf and run some very low EC water (winkel water)  through it I get a run-off EC of 1.4. Normal??

What issues did you experience? In your opinion definitely not buffered and ready to go straight out of the bag?

Am considering FF coco and perlite mix when I pot up next.
Any other options you recommend? Apart from doing it from scratch with a coco brick and perlite.
BioLeaf does not appear to be buffered despite what their staff say.

    Bricks can be a mission.

The Canna coco is nice, bit pricey though. Gold line coco is also nice but once again pricey.
Freedom farm's coco is difficult to find, I know some prefer to use their Formula 1 mix but pricing is the same as soil.

  9. If you wanna move away from scrog nets, then look at stakes.

With single or fewer colas, staking is not an issue and a single stake per pot works well - use twist ties to secure it to the stake and that should hold the heavy bud up.

If the PM gets worse, well, we've discussed an option.

Thanks bud. If that's true, it's pretty cool.

Indeed, it is pretty cool and seems to work quite wel.

I believe it gets rid of the oxygen and ensures RH of around 62%

All regulated through the type of material(s) they use to make the bags from. Also offers a nice, easy way to store large quantities of bud as you can buy some pretty large Terploc bags and just put the bud straight into the bag.

Also helps contain the smell, so it does not stink up the house etc.

What I can tell from reading all the info is that you should not exceed 4 bar in pressure. If you use a pump more that 4 bar you need to connect a pressure regulator from the line to the dripped.
I may be wrong. Will tel you after I test them this afternoon.

I think it will be beneficial to have a pressure regulator regardless, help ensure consistent flow rates between all the netbows?

Please do let us know how it goes though 😄
