thanks guys, I'm feeling more at ease now with my setup, should be able to harvest few photoperiods every 2 to 3 months if I got my timing and growing juuust right, might finally grow enough to keep me happy. with only one tent there's always a few months that go by where I am back to buying weed. didn't like that

can't leave the new tent alone, the zippers, the material, the poles. they sure made a sexy product.

now just to get my growing dialed in.

while setting up I was inspecting with a keen eye, sounded like the dude at the shop tried super hard selling them, but it turns out he was just listing facts about the tent. hahahah it just really is a real good product.

I couldn't list all the improvements off by heart, but I would highly recommend this brand of tent, if anyone is out looking, save up the few extra pennies and get yourself something nice that will last

if nothing better comes out my next tent will be another Budbux for sure.

I must admit, there are 2 things which do annoy me a bit about mine.

1. The pull strings aren't as easy to use as I would like and compared to some other tents.

2. The one section of my tent requires me to completely unzip if I want to open it (like, unzip as in remove the two zip pieces like on a jacket) and it can be tricky to get it zipped up again.

Otherwise I really love mine and will buy another budbox tent again without hesitation.

@PsyCLownyou have actually hit the only 2 gripes I have too with mine.

I dont undo that side now, to not wear out that piece of material there at the bottom. And happy that I have only had to pull those drawstrings once, or I'd find that a huge pain.

Otherwise, it's the best tent I have ever owned, plus, it's also the only tent I own, but still the best one at it😂

got a little update here

small change made in flower room, just put 2 x 15cm air ducts in the top two socks as passive intakes and let them hang down to canopy level. with the budbox being more of a solid material and no pin holes and what not it creates much more of a negative pressure, so allowing two more relatively nice sized passive intakes will bring more fresh air in aswell as spare my tent a little hahah

also defoliated the girls after the first sign of flowers. day 6 of 12.12

Temp/RH in room, as you can see low temp high RH20210516_071337.thumb.jpg.961378e6c953195f31a12b1a2fd495b6.jpg

also got the trusty old thermometer if I don't feel like trusting the digital reader, should also put another RH reader in a different spot in the room, but this also helps check if the digital one is still in range20210516_071346.thumb.jpg.92d044cd669ba8774cd67f2ef7b86724.jpg

Veg conditions. lower RH cause tent is less full I guess? higher temp from the lights, LED in flower room I built gives off basically no heat. time is way out, old sensor and I definitly don't use it to check time 20210516_071106.thumb.jpg.279fa98a338e224c374cc8d6e09be41e.jpg

more or less evened everyting out with paper clips and garden wire, getting ready to fill out the scrog20210515_184243.thumb.jpg.c79ec5a8f0cbd3d3398a5c6ca36fee32.jpg

I took a bunch of cuts from the Emerald Triangle Super Lemon OG, got 3 seeds, popped the first one during my move end of last year, had to keep it outside for literally a few hours, got eaten by something!!!!!! only had the first set of true leaves and was next to a bigger plant with about 4 nodes (we have a bunch of grasshoppers and all sorts of katydid insects around the winelands area that time of year) whatever it was, fuck that thing!

this forced me to buy some Bulk Seed Bank seeds, luckily got a bunch for around the same price as the 3 Emerald Triangle seeds, so my current run in the flower room consists of 3x Zkittles from Bulk Seed Bank, 1x Super Lemon OG and then a Banana Hammock cut from a few runs back.

I was quite excited for my Super Lemon run that went south, but didn't give up. 100% of the cuts I took rooted and I filled the veg tent with those except for another 1 banana lol, I wana keep that genetic around.

From here 5 weeks max, 4 weeks minimum. Either way 2 weeks from now will stop feed to save on nutes and time, will then start looking at the trichomes and decide when to stop watering from then give it another week with no water to let the medium dry out. Might do 48hrs dark before chop, will see how I feel. might have to harvest at different times.

Looking real good bro! Your leaf colour looks on point and seems like the setup is dialed in! :-greenthumb

Which plant are you most excited about?

Thanks man!

I have grown the banana a couple times before so I have to say I am more excited for the Super Lemon OG, although the banana is amazing aswell! I can remember smoking something with a heavy citrus taste to it, smell of the smoke was like a bergamot perfume, so I been trying to find something with lemon in the name.

the Zkittles seeds I got for next to nothing, a sealed pack of 10 from Bulk Seed Bank so just filled the space with that, but pretty excited bout that too!!

😁

You also find the purple lacking🤔

it is almost as if it's the purple specifically.

had a bunch slurricane buds took me looooong to smoke cause I didn't like it, made me not understand the hype around the genetic, untill I had some green slurricane. big difference.

the banana seems to go purple even when grown in the summer winelands sun, some days go up to 43°C, she still pushes the purps. luckily she is frosty as hell close to pure indica so she lays you down gently and that is what I like about her. she also got her space in my next run, but that will be the last of her.

getting rid of her literally because of the purple.

Yeah, the word is that once the plant starts to purple from temps, and not so much from genetics, then the plant stops producing more THC, and the THC that is there doesn't ripen 100% (this is my understanding of what I've read)

Like the plant starts to change purple, like you would apply sunscreen to go in the sun, the plant goes purple to counteract the cold swings.

Basically dying, or the leaf no longer contains chlorophyll

damn, like frostbite for plants 😵

luckily this one must be genetics as like I said she will purple up no matter the conditions.

none of the other plants are turning so I am very happy.

will select against purple going forward

Yes yes, like my Mad Berry, from the go Purple. Still a better high than the cold conditions purple, but still not like the normal green version of that same strain.

Added, the THC comment, is only on the purple parts.

Well, if you think about it logically, and not trying to be condescending at all, please.

Its basically, Autumn colors, and in nature, that means the plants starting to die off, and if the cannabis plant gets too cold too quickly, the bud can go purple and stop producing THC, and fight more with that energy to live.

Again my own thoughts.

the wierd thing is, back in about 2009 I got my hands on my first purple bud. this was an memorable moment as I still remember the way it looked and smelled. everything that was good back then was called "Skunk" and there was a few purple buds amongst some skunk buds we got. didn't even look the best, nothing compared to the stuff we get these days, but tasted like grape candy and really packed a punch that was just... different....

maybe I built a tolerance and gained a more acquired taste over the years, like we all do, but without a doubt the hype around the purple weed back then was backed by my first impression and then got watered down over the years.

was it perhaps only my perception that has changed

I'd say, a bit of both brother.

We always remember things bigger or better, like IT, kaking myself as a child, and now laughing my arse off.

My uncle who was so tall, now I've out grown him.

But...

The mAd Berry, is purple and packs a punch, so yes, you are correct too, there are purple plants that are meant to be purple, and not from weather, that work.

You made my mouth water too, so thanks for that😝😂

hahahah yeah no just kidding bout the frostbite cause humans also go purple/black when introduced to cold conditions outside of our favourabilities, it's a shit joke haha

I have not read up about it, but what you are saying makes sence and just naturally I would assume that it would also have impact on the terpenes, and this would change the overall smell and taste of the buds aswell...
