  1. 35° in the cabinet. 41° in the shade. 53° in the open. Hot breeze blowing. Neighbouring farms on fire. Average day in the bush
  2. 5 days in the drying cabinet and trim time. Small, dense buds. Thumb size on average. 46g thumb buds. 23g popcorn.
  3. So on day 66 Tortoni clone got chopped. Gave it a bud wash using 3 buckets (wash, rinse, rinse) then a gentle pressure spray, gave them a spin dry (standing in the garden spinning my arms slowly getting funny looks from the landlady) and hung to dry for a few moments. Then into the drying cabinet. I'm sold on this bud wash story. Looks like I'll be getting a bit of smoke from this plant after all. Was not the best clone but looking forward to the weighing.
  4. Harvester ant, also known as harvesting ant, is a common name for any of the species or genera of ants that collect seeds (called seed predation), or mushrooms as in the case of Euprenolepis procera, which are stored in the nest in communal chambers called granaries.[1] They are also referred to as Agricultural ants. Seed harvesting by some desert ants is an adaptation to the lack of typical ant resources such as prey or honeydew from hemipterans. Harvester ants increase seed dispersal and protection, and provide nutrients that increase seedling survival of the desert plants. In addition, ants provide soil aeration through the creation of galleries and chambers, mix deep and upper layers of soil, and incorporate organic refuse into the soil.[2] From what I can find so far on what I think is a Veromessor Pergandei common name Harvester Ant.
  5. Like when you pick up a pot plant and find an ant nest. Interesting [emoji1690] Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  6. Whatever strain it is it's one tough plant. Gonna have to read up on what happens in an ant nest. Are the ant tunnels aerating the roots or are the ants eating the roots? Is the plant matter the ants are carrying into the nest all been eaten or is some of it composting? Let's see. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  7. Day 65. Zoom in on pic #1 and you'll see the spider mite problem. Then on one of the bud shots. So today is the day I'm thinking of switching off the lights. You hear and read about a period of darkness before harvest. Do you guys think it's worth me doing it as this plant is getting a bud wash and going towards edibles as people out here in the bush don't mind a bit of protein with their greens. Time to give the cabinet a once over and decide on the next grow.
  8. Braai time is update time. Gets water when the garden gets water. Up to twice a day. Now and again a bit of molasses when I mix for indoor. Wind battering the FcUK out of it and the ants keep on dragging all sorts of things into their nest under it.
  9. Day 59 22/12. Small, sticky dense buds and a nice fruity aroma. The spider mite problem is still affecting one part of the plant but doesn't seem to be getting any worse.
  10. Came across this little one last week. How the seed got there, dunno. I usually scatter ungerminated seeds in one area of the garden. Here's the thing. Nothing usually grows in this area of the garden and the plant is smack bang in the middle of an ant nest. My wife thinks an ant brought it home. The soil is not ideal so I'm wondering how the ant nest is going to affect the plant. Ants are loving the molasses I think. In the last pic to the left of the leca you will see an ant at work. The plant will either be from @Totemic or @Bay Seedsas that's all I've been growing the last while. Let's see if this survives and hopefully I can recognize it.
  11. Hey man. So no holes. When I do use domes I kinda keep an eye on it. Taking it on and off. Mainly on at night, helps keeping bugs away and keeps temps up. Mornings I take it off until the day gets beyond hot then I give them a light spray. Bearing in mind I use a shade house. Summer I don't bother much with domes. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks. It's a start to the learning process. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  13. If he hasn't got access to cannabis soil could he not try soil for tomatoes at the local nursery and work from there. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  14. Hey all. Can someone explain in layman's terms what landrace is. Can't seem to get my head around it. Is it just local wild cannabis. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  15. Howzit man. Oudtshoorn, remember those school days, hot and dry. First time growing autoflower my side. I popped into shot glass for 24 hours then into final pot outdoor in a shade house. Similar condition where I live hot, dry and strong winds to top it off. I put a 2l coke bottle humidity dome over the one's I planted early spring when it was still freezing until seeds popped above ground and kept them on for a few days. The one's planted a week or so back went into shot glasses, final pot but no dome this time. I did have to check twice a day to make sure the soil was not dry though. I kept the area where the seed was moist until it broke ground with a spray bottle and continued for the first week. Out of 50 planted about 8 did not break ground.. Unfortunately I had a high male count. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  16. Day 42 12/12. You'll notice a big chunk missing on the bottom right. Took the snips to the spider mites.

  18. Having problems myself with autoflower. Knowing it's a finiky plant to grow I planted some (mmmm, actually a lot) early September when temps were dropping to 0 and then some rain then planted more at two week intervals. All outdoors. Most ended up male's and then the female's I've got tend to attract spider mites and leaf borers. Must admit I was expecting a little bit more than what I've ended up with on harvest. Averaging 7 - 10g per plant. 15 Strawberry Vostok autoflower planted the other day and some showing life so let's see. Damn weather needs to make it's mind up. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  19. Day 36 12/12. Still water only with molasses now and again.
  20. Congratulations. An accomplishment in your neck of the woods. Some nice pubs and especially the hotel that served the best babootie in the country. Not sure of the name but apparently it was the RAF pilots hangout during the days. And the original Pig & Whistle. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
  21. Day 29 12/12. Those damn spider mites. Spotted some on a section of the plant so snipped all contaminated branches and leaves and gave a good dose of Biogro bioneem. Then what looks like a nitrogen deficiency. Some Epson salts added to the last watering while I figure out what to do. Other than that I'm pretty chuffed with my first attempt at using a net.
  22. Howzit. Have a look at @Light It Up they have a special on a 240W QB. Sent from my S40 using Tapatalk
