  1. So if you have not heard the news, the portfolio committee heard all the issues and seemed to sympathize with many drawbacks that the bill in its current form has. Quite recently another hearing went under the radar, and this was the feedback received and comments given in the attachment below for interest sake. These comments came from state advocate Sarel Robertze. Some key takeaways - A sort of exemption will be considered for religious and cultural instances - The Club model will not be considered because of additional regulation that would need to be created and managed, they said they did speak about it. - They did not actually need to inform the public of the drafting process, so public consultation didn't need to happen apparently. - Everything may change if recreational legalization comes through. - Diagnosed self-medication could possibly mean more plants. - Fields of green for all were left out of the comments for some reason. It is clear that the ''Harms'' of cannabis are a real issue for them. So much so that they need to state this repetitively, which is sad, because they are not thinking about the all the good that can come. The real concern as always being the children, its as if all we really want to do is get our kids higher than kites. There are many factors to consider and I cant just act as if I know what government have to deal with in drafting and understanding all aspects that come into play. However, above all else, SA needs to be more progressive in their movements. We cant make up for lost time and right now there is a gapping whole in the industry and its where every small - medium business could be and putting food on the table and reaping the benefits, but government says, No, that's only for professionals Too much collusion, not enough inclusion. If you read cannabis news at any given time, there is such a contrast between, looking like Hey we ''pro'' rural/indigenous farmers, stories of the Mamas growing their quality cannabis completely illegally, but like screaming yeah upliftment to the people who need it most... and then scroll down, 300Kg of DAGGA busted in transit, we would like to commend sergent/major whatever on a great job of pulling those rural farmers kids school fees, straight out of their hand and possibly some jail time. Anyways, time to save up for donations. Cannabis Bill Comments and Responses November 2021.pdf
  2. Whooooohoooo, I found my pheno, I'm keeping this plant around for a while i'm sure, she is still going and going fast. Frost enough, smells like gluey, sour, on the back of what was is surely icky funky stank, the gas is very subtle, almost gone. Very unique, nothing like the slurri now which i'm not mad about. Calyx pushing beautifully, if I updated 10 days ago, she knows where she is going. I cant imagine more than 3/4 weeks, however white pistols for days so we will see. And then im in 5 days flower. and the Jack herer was a male, so no update there, other dqxslurri is slow so we will see.
  3. This is a flippen lekke, id settle to be a fly on the wall. Nice one bro!
  4. Update, dqxslurri got a small Defol, the short pheno is standing out nicely. Smelling fine, quite similar to slurri, some sweet some gas. Will be flipping the bed Tuesday night.
  5. I did post this before, But I wasn't happy with the PDF option, so I had capture the page. As I said a while ago, I've got my Soil Test to share, this test is on the soil that is amended along the lines of the soil recipe. Its a diverse mix but has also depleted itself of good/basic structure over the time, will be introducing some aeration of sorts. I would definitely recommend Kaya farms for the soil testing options, I waited about a month or so as there were hiccups, but I gotta commend them on their feedback and time taken to explain the issues, I have a couple things that need to be addressed, but overall quite happy with the results. This was after a re-amend. There is stats on the paste test and the extract test. Some issues I need to look at. - Soluble salts are quite high for after a harvest which he mentioned, but I did say this was after a re-amend, between 1000 - 1500 is fine. - Sodium and chloride need to be leached from the soil. - Phosphorus is not high enough on the paste test, although the extract test says abundance, can be taken with a pinch of salt and not add anymore Phos. - Calcium can be higher - Base cations magnesium and potassium too high, this might be because I add too much worm casting in my original mix - Exchangeable hydrogen very low (have not added aeration in a while or always in the least amount). - Also a small amount of extra nitrogen can be added as well. - Trace elements needing to be brought into balance. Iron, manganese and copper ... he suggested using sulfates to bring these levels up. I am still deciding. The argument is not about keeping it full organic, which it would be if these forms of trace elements are used and a test can provide proof of low levels. Because in actual fact, the main production proof of the most robust systems would be - in a field or greenhouse or living soil, the Co2 loss from the ground because overall its a more intricately connected system. Which the plants breathe in and that births higher productivity. So in essence, the more the plant can photosynthesize, via filling gaps in the chain, this being micro nutrients, the more exudates are pumped out stimulating more microbial growth. At the moment plants are in this soil, so I will not be adding any of these yet. I will be doing a test soon on the big bed and see where those levels are.
  6. I have the same Apple Jax cut which is growing beautifully. How would I know that its going to hermie apart from leaving it until it happens? I see what you saying, if you are certain the cut has been grown out and does not hermie, then likely its stable. The 2 Apples Jax plants I was growing was from seed bud.
  7. I have the same Apple Jax cut which is growing beautifully. How would I know that its going to hermie apart from leaving it until it happens? They were growing great bud, I wouldn’t know until they flower and all the way until they finish. but from a basic ratio of the known hermies, I’ve made the decision based on hermie ratio on the pancakes line. Both apple Jax 67% hermies and another reputable grower reporting 80% or so, I thought not waste the time and have gaps in the grow
  8. Small update, looks like we vegging abit longer for the strawberry sugar cookies (on top) and the ginger tea ( below) the apple Jax got the chop. Not keen on dealing with hermies and it’s most likely the case the dqslurri are doing well, abit slower than usual but I think the hours aren’t doing them any good. So they will be inside with the Jack herer and bubalicious. Going on 12hours today
  9. Sorry lol, Yes I was thinking get a 30l bag to fill a 30L pot,
  10. I've been toying with the idea of buying a ''premium'' brand bag of soil, something light for a nice auto I want to grow. My first idea is wanting something like freedom farms classic, and then building up the nutrients with topdressing as I go along the way, I like this idea and it will be easy enough to have a nice vigorous plant without having the plant flower early with some caution. Then I realized their are many different quality autos and this specific one is the Pluto Cut from Ethos. They got these genetics quite right in that department, one breeder explained they were able to introduce hardier sativas less prone to these types of stresses, So I'm back in the I want more overall nutrients. I'm kinda undecided for now, but I am probably purchasing a bag of soil soon. Maybe the less is more approach is the Sexiest. @Prom Cheers boeti
  11. Yes no 2 plants or people are the same. So like people, you want to choose “Life”, I suggest you add some life into your soil. Wormcastings or bottle microbes will both work well.
  12. Silence... Do you believe that number to be goodluck? I don't think your a bad guy. Just a word of confusion, its a wild world we live in. I'm sure everybody is all over the place. Many are sure they know things when they've watched a couple of Youtube videos. A history that is biblical... I know right who cares its just a number. One thing about growing weed. It will force you to better yourself and enable some deeper thinking. I know but a few things. One thing I know certainly, further than my mind soul and emotions can even comprehend, there is ''no chance''. If this is your freedom of speech, here is mine... That's not a joke, the way of the transgressor is hard. Goodluck my man!
  13. Nice one looking good man! Love the bit about not every watering needs to be a feed.
  14. The Jack here and Bubalicious I yielded 2 decently frosty females about revegged, should be stable for the flip next week. Jack Herer is growing nicely some of the Tomato’s and cherry tomato’s. and always lekke when it’s about time to flip time.
  15. Ya I suppose this is unfortunate for some, we cant say for a fact that all these fans will keep working if we make sure alles is shup. Fact of the matter is that in everything we buy today, there will be some duds. Just less chance of early disposal if we play our part, a bit of give and take.
  16. I just bought one from takealot and to my surprise it was a whole R320, they seem to be out of stock now obviously. But this is good info, I was hanging plastic oscillating fans with garden wire (quite a big one at a stage), letting them do their thing and then I notice they started making a funny ticking noise going through the rotation. So I just had a look and saw the mechanism pretty clearly, 2 small sprays of Q20 and that she was brand new, oscillating smooth as silk, still grafting like a bomb. Things do last longer when you look after them. Ill be sure to look after the clippy grippy fan.
  17. Cool thanks man, The mix will probably sit for about a month in the tote, Ill probably wet the mix with some microbes and molasses. Then ill let it sit in the pots outside for a while and sprout some cover crops for 2 weeks - a month, then Ill plant .
  18. Hey bud, so the Standard base would be just shy of 1/3 for base/aeration/compost, I wanted a bit less castings and a bit less coco for lower levels of potassium. Let's see how it results.
  19. Hello Garden folk! So I have decide to do a new and improved soil recipe that i'm going to make at home out of easy purchase ingredients. These ingredient will be in the ratio of what I believe will have really good results given the system is taken care-off, I'm typically going to put this soil in 2 x 40L pots out-doors..., I have not picked the strains yet but I know I need more soil so why not try something new. I will cut the nonsense and get straight to it. The recipe. per Cubic foot (28L of soil, might be closer to 30L but its not super precise) 5L sphagnum peat moss + 5L Coco 5l perlite + 5l vermiculite 8l Wormcasting (wermbosch) 1/4 Cup biochar 1/2 Cup alfalfa meal 1/4 Cup kelp meal 1/2 Cup calcitic lime 1/4 Cup dolomite lime 1/2 Cup gypsum standard grade (ground chunchy) 1/2 Cup Garders Gold dust gypsum 1 1/2 Cup basalt Rock Dust 1 Cup bone meal 1/2 Cup insect frass 1/4 Cup Humic acid 1/2 Cup (malted barley blended as fine as possible) 1/4 Cup Soft Rock Phosphate. This is quite a heavy mix but its what it takes to get those numbers up, so only water and inoculation will do for a while. I will be doing a check at what needs to be purchased and update accordingly, I'll be mixing about 100L which is easy enough as it will only require 1 decent size tote, I might consider splitting it up in 2 for easy of mixing and better consistency. Give me some time to get the ball rolling asseblief but I'm keen to have the soil mixed and cooking by the end of the weekend. I'm excited to have the changes made above and see how this new recipe results. LEKKE!
  20. Nice one bud they do look good! Welcome and enjoy that harvest!
  21. Good morning Peoples. So its been 3 weeks about. The 2 Apples Jax phenos got me biting my fingernails, I'm going with it and hoping for the best. If they hermie, I will try spot it early and cut them down. @Totemic Sugar cookies growing very well. So is the ginger tea. A bit of Aphid or Thrips pressure but not stressed about it. Hope you enjoy the scroll. The DQxSlurris are looking good, about 3 or so weeks into flower. I'm going to finish them indoors so they get enough dark hours, those along with the 1 of each - Jack herer and Bubalicious females I found. 0 Veggie Garden going well, was late to plant the Chillis and Baby peppers but they finally made into the soil.
  22. Ya im pretty much ready to pull them and cut my losses. Doesn't seem positive for the pancake lines. But then again it might be worth waiting and crossing fingers. The plants could be fire.
