  1. @Maxwell Digital ballasts use roughly half the power of magnetic ballasts. It all come down to there design. Magnetic ballasts use magnets and coils which is a very inefficient way of converting power so a lot gets lost to heat. Digitals are the other end of the scale and utilise microchips to controller and convert the power with is a lot more efficient and produce very little heat. Cheers Reaf
  2. Hi bud My 2 cents... Not cooking an organic soil is like not baking a cake before you eat it... some people may like raw batter (just like plants) but other will hate it. Cooking soil is not a step you can really just leave out , if I was you in this position I would go for a coco ,perlite , lime , talborne mix to start with until your soil is cooked. I have seen plants cope fine in uncooked soil but I have also seem a lot die so you are really taking a risk.
  3. @420 Hi bud point number 3 you make about bulbs using more power as they age is only true on digital ballasts , on magnetic ballasts they just put out less light.
  4. Have you ever grown autos before? Have to ask because they are incredibly fussy and I wouldn't recommend it Tina new grower... just by removing one leaf on certain autos can stunt it's growth... Cheers Reaf
  5. Hi guys sorry I couldn't reply earlier been a chaotic day. @HolySmoke The other guys kinda hit the nail on the head with us being the ass end off the world so you gotta cut us some slack no hard feelings bud if I can truly understand that if that was done to me I would be just as upset and would also probably loose my cool. I also think these comments must stay as it will help others , maybe just edit out calling me an idiot but as for genetics you have opened my eyes on his gear and I am glad you did. This forum is to help people and it's up to the educated to help educate if you know what I mean. How about some test beans as a peace offering respect bud you living the legal dream that I am sure a lot of us would kill to do Let's see what these beans do , HSS has certainly put a new perspective on the grow. Cheers Reaf
  6. I actually had to go and have a joint to calm down after ready your comment holysmoke. We are all entitled to or opinions and to voice them... it's just when they come out like a rant attacking me without knowing me or my story pisses me off. How hard is it to act civil ? Why attack me for doing what a close friend asked me to do ? Should I not share my experience either good or bad with the community? One thing I can say is that I am not bias.. I will say what I think good or bad and I do welcome your input as it adds to the whole log , besides if it is bad won't it add wait to your argument ? I am not pissed of about your comments on the genetics , I am pissed of about being called an idiot and not knowing anything... Bud I don't know you and you don't know me so how about we keep to the genetics weather good or bad and keep the personal stuff out of it? Cheers Reaf Ps.. holysmoke if you had waited a day or 2 you would have seen my next updated on how temptrimental these genetics are and how a loy have died....but yea I hope you feel better after your rant
  7. And in my opnion purple strains are never very good.... I have yet to have a purple strain that blows me out the water.... with purple plants the all about eye candy Cheers Reaf
  8. Just pinch the top nodes every few days . Squeeze the branch until u feel a "pop" and leave it. Never do the same node twice so pick different nodes . Pinch the tops leave them a dew days to recover then pinch again and repeat. This will basicly stop your vertical growth and make the plant bush like mad. What this will also do is create nutrient highways for your buds. Cheers Reaf
  9. Hi bud My 2 cents The biggest stretch happens for the first 2 weeks in flower so say you leave them in a small pot you are still going to get the stretch ,maybe to not as much of a degree but it will still happen. What will also deffinately happen is you will loose a Lot of bud mass . Like i said stretch will happen and because stretch comes before bud the stretch will take up all the root space and and there will be inserfitiant space left in the pot for bud to develop , so what you will be left with is a stretchy plant with airy buds.... Bigger is always better in flower... screw the stretch as there are ways to control it . I take it you are pinching the plant to keep it short? Cheers Reaf
  10. Hi bud Nothing destroys seeds faster than what you just discribbed , seeds are best kept at 6 degrees with 4% humidity . You might as well pop as many as you can because if they already giving germ issues its not going to get better. Cheers Reaf
  11. Hi bud. I have a 250w hps/mh for sale if u want as well , with hps bulb and ignitor . I sold the cheaper one unfortunately, this ones going for R400 Cheers Reaf
  12. Haha thanks guys , Yea always regulars... regulars still give the best genetics. Fem beans are nice for the home grower but if you want to really get into breeding regulars are the best . Cheers Reaf
  13. Hi everyone I have been fortunate enough to be given the chance to test some new beans for Jaws Gear , as some of you may know i have done testing for Bodhi , strainhunters and a few smaller breeders but this is my first time testing Jaws Gear and i hope not the last since i love their genetics. Strains: 1 Black Cherry Kush - Black Chherry Soda x Banana kush 2 Banana Pebble OG - Banana Kush x Fruity Pebbles 3 Lemon Sour Doja - Lemon Sour Deisel x Alien Dojo 4 Black Cherry OG - Black Cherry Soda x Fruity Pebbles 5 Alien Pebble OG - Alien Cookies x Fruity Pebbles 6 Altered States - Girl Scout Cookies x Dark Matters Lighting: Sprouts- CFL Seedlings -led Veg- MH Flower - HPS Medium: Organic super soil ( my personel mix) Feeding: Biobizz , AACT , Mollasses I Placed the beans to soak for 6 hours in water with 2 drops of a germination booter i have been working on at a tempreature of 23degrees c I then placed the seeds in the propergator at 23 degrees C after 6 hours of soakng Beans 24h after putting them to soak Beans 48h After just 72 hours i have sprouts so my first impressions on the genetics is very good. Unfortually 4 beans have not cracked yet but i put this down to the long journey these beans took to get to me with countless hours in the mail , but they may still surprise me *Propergator Side Note* I thought i would stop here and explain how i setup my propagator for all those that aren't sure how to get started in a simple manner. The propagator is a generic one u can get from most shops overseas while ordering beans , I like to put a good layer of growlite in the bottom to help retain just the right amount of moisture in the paper towel . you dont want it to wet or to dry lol it must be just right. What the growlite does is allow the paper towel to drain but still will keep it moist. I like to also add 2 drops of germination booster to the paper towel. I have also found the best temp for me is 23 I will keep this updated once a week Cheers Reaf
  14. Lol that's why I was asking if it was tin foil...
  15. I would first test the lux or lumen output of those bulbs. The eye isn't a good test at light output and even cfl looses lumens over time. Cheers Reaf
  16. Hi bud I am so sorry I did not reply earlier before your flush. ... I feel kak about that. Well here's my 2 cents... Those plants are over watered and by flushing her I presume she is looking a lot worse. After reading through your initial post you say , she was started in peat (huge water retension and extremely low ph 4.2) you them say you planted her into an organic mix of vermiculite compost and soil and you water it every 3 days... that to me is screaming to much water and lack of air exchange with the roots. Roots need air , that is one of the main reasons why we put perlite into mixer . When you say "compost" do you mean that chunky stuff? So in my opinion without seeing the new pic I would put this down to much water retention with lack of air exchange due to a poor medium and to much water , I would also guess you have ph problems in pockets. Since she is 5 weeks into flower there's not much you can do , more than likely she will hermie if she survives and you can probably add on about 4 weeks to her flowering time now as well. It's kak when it happens but learn the lesson and more forward with a proper medium. Cheers Reaf
  17. Yea bud I hear you about the fan leaves having there uses . just take off the leaves that block bud sites , if it's not blocking a site why take it of. That's the general rule I follow. Also don't do it all at once , for the first 3 weeks I leave all the fans , then every week remove more and more but always just the ones blocking bud sites. Cheers Reaf
  18. Looking good bud. If I was you I would remove a few of those fan leaves , I am all for controlled defoliation . I can see in the pics at least 4 bud sites cover by fan leaves , take those off and let the light hit those bud sites. Just my 2 cents Cheers Reaf
  19. There's a link to the video on the dc Facebook page
  20. Hi guys does anyone know where I can find the carte blanche piece from last night ? Cheers
  21. What's your soils ph level ? There's a whole bunch of stuff going on there. Cheers Reaf
  22. More than likely the vermiculite that cause it.... horrible stuff that ...
  23. When you say "mould" that's a very broad term . Like 420 said without pics theres not much we can help with but personally I highly doubt it was the humidity . Cheers Reaf
