  1. Hi bud Just my 2 cents on this.... that ballast is rated for a 400w hps bulb without a capacitor. While it is possible to run a MH bulb off a hps ballast it's not really recommended as it can be a fire hazard or cause your bulb to fail early and not put out as many lumen. Also if you run a MH bulb you generally take the ignitor off , the ignitor is for an hps bulb. If you were running a hps you don't need the capacitor....it also looks like that capacitor is wired wrong but I may be wrong about that as it's been years since I wired a MH What it looks like to me is that you have wired that up to run a hps bulb and the capacitor isn't actually doing anything and somehow the ignitor is managing to ignite the bulb , from my understanding I think your capacitor needs to be inline like the ignitor to run the mh bulb... I have had my house burn down due to an electric fire a few years ago and may be a bit paranoid about properly rated electronics and that mismatch of ballast , bulb , ignitor and capacitor worried me lol. My electrition is doing work here tomorrow and will ask him if i am remembering all this correctly as it's been ages since I have worked with Magnetic ballasts Cheers Reaf
  2. Yip airpump and airstone . I like to bubble for 24h but anything over an hour will be fine
  3. It's easier than it sounds, dim room and be gentle. Just get the Grow for now you can expand if you want to later. I have used bubble tap water for over a decade without any issues , don't over think it
  4. Hi bud those plants can still be saved but there a few things you need to do. Flushing don't help the situation as Talborne is a slow release fertilizer. When growing organic Normal bubbled to water is best as RO waters ph can be a bit low. With what I want you to do your plants have a 70% chance of surviving but will bounce back nicely . Those pots are way to big for your situation , if your babies were healthy it would be fine but in there State you want smaller pots to get water cycling going properly. If you leave them I those pots they will have major issues with over watering. Fill a bucket of plain water then take the plant out there plastic pots and place you hand under underneath to support the root ball. Place the soil root ball in the water bucket and gently move it up and down in the water with your hands supporting the root ball. Gently wash the medium from the roots . Once the medium has been removed replant them into a lot Half that size with a 50/50 mix of well rinsed Perlite and coco. Water them once with 1ml of biobizz per litre and leave them until they feel Light again then up it to 2ml per l. Do this is a dim room as light will hurt the roots , if you do this gently you won't cause much root damage and probably way less damage than that hot damp medium will do. Once they start recovering you can transplant them again into a organic medium. Get an app for your smartphone to measure Lux and move that light right up until you get between 10000 and 15000 Lux. You don't want to give it to much light now as they won't be able to cope with it and will cause a lot more stress. Expect about 3 weeks recovery
  5. Hi bud Don't have much time to give your post a proper read or reply until tonight but 1 cup of Talborne (250ml is a standard cup but not sure what cup you used ) is way to much for 25l . I use 20ml pet 5l of Medium and with seedlings I use 9ml per 5l of Medium. When I mix an organic Soil with other amendments I use 4ml per 5l Hope that helps
  6. That Plant is as ready as it will ever be , chop her.
  7. The reason why the ballasts pull different amps is because of the power factor . The power factor or pF is how efficiently the piece of eqipment can use the power given to it. A digital ballast power factor is around 0.99 , this means that the ballast will convert 99% of the power into usable power from the bulb. A magnetic ballast has a much lower pF , let's call it 0.75 for example. This means that the ballast will only convert 75% of power drawn into usable power for the bulb . If you then do the math it works out to the digital ballast needing to draw 404w to power a 400w bulb while a magnetic ballast needs 500w to power the same bulb. If you have ever touched a working digital and magnetic ballast you will feel that the digital is barely warm while the magnetic can be to hot to touch. This is because the magnetic ballast is converting a lot of power to heat and not usable power and a clear practical example of power factor . Simply put not everything is equal when it comes to how efficiently it runs Cheers Reaf
  8. Don't think it's a good buy. I think you could do a lot better from one of the hydro shops. A 800 x 800 tent is small and that open bulb with a 100mm extractor and scrubber sounds a bit on the small side and you may run into heat issues. Those analog timers are useless and don't keep proper time Just my 2 cents
  9. Cool but the one I referred isn't any better , I just wanted to share were to get it cheaper. Have a look on wish and get the most powerfull one you budget will allow, when it comes. Especially to cannabis the more light the better. Myself and my wife use wish all the time so it's a legit site and they are really good if anything is damaged or lost in transit , not that it happens often.
  10. Welcome bud happy growing. That light is line for seedlings and is about R350 with shipping of wish of you patient, takes about 6 weeks to get here. I think you'll like Indoor 225 Led Grow Light Lamp 14w Blue Red Orange White Hydroponic Plant Panel Littlehuaqiang Shop. Add it to your wishlist! http://www.wish.com/c/58cc0a82971e5e5295d56c68 Cheers Reaf
  11. Hi bud Try this out it may help , cut a sugar leaf of one of the buds and take it inside and put it under a good light . Then take your camera/ phone and put it down on the table and focus is on the sugar leaf using the table as a tripod. That way you will be able to keep still enough to take the pic. If you using a phone set the focus and stuff and use a voice command to take the pic , that way there is no camera shake. Cheers Ps ... make sure you light source is as close to 6400k , if you use a warm white build it will make you trichs appear amber Pps.. put a white piece of paper under it , it helps the camera to focus
  12. Nice idea but pricey. Bought 5kg dry ice last week to make hash and cost me R370 , at a guess 5kg in that system would last maybe 12 hours....
  13. my statement is taken from my multimeter running digital and magnetic side by side on my own setup. Have you tested this yourself ? When it comes to reliability after a few years of using multiple digital ballasts and a mix of brands I have never had one give me any hassles. I will try dig out my old magnetics and take a few readings this weekend. If memory serves me correctly (took these readings a few years ago) my digital 400w pulled 2.1amps while the magnetic pulled 4.3amps
  14. molasses is just a sugar/carbohydrate, it contains a nice amount of potash, sulfur and a variety of micronutrients. This is the main idea of adding molasses because a balance supply of mineral nutrients is essential for microorganisms to survive and thrive. Micronutrients found in organic amendments like molasses, kelp, buckwheat, comfrey and alfalfa are all derived from other plants and ther for quickly and easily available to our soil organisms and our plants. The micro herd in our tea/soil depend on tiny amounts of trace minerals as catalysts to help break down organic fertilizers to a form our plants can use. Molasses also works as a chelate, chelates (like humic acid), are known for unlocking chemical nutrients into a form that is easily available for soil critters and plants. It is also said that chelated minerals also help gardeners make dramatic cuts in fertilizer application, by locking minerals in availed forms and preventing soil unbalances. While honey can be used its worth noting it has antibacterial properties and can actually inhibit your micro herd if used to much So it depends on the application it's used for
  15. Nice mix bud but I would give it a bit longer than a month , a lot of those raw products need minimun 6 weeks to stabilize. Cheers
  16. Absolutely stunning grow bud ! Well grown young grasshopper
  17. Aphids are generally found underneath the leaves not like that on top, aphids look a bit different as well . At a guess , can't see them in the pics to clearly , I would go with thrips but not 100% sure. When in doubt nuke lol neem and pyrol will sort out 99% of cannabis pests. Mix 20ml biopyrol and 10ml bioneem with 1l water and spray. That will kill them off . Personally I like to spray that same mix twice in veg just to make sure nothing slips into the flower cycle.. I hate spraying in flower Cheers GLO
  18. Be carefull that's way to low..... you getting over purpleing which reduces photosynthesis a lot , as well as slowing down the growth of your plants . Anything under 15 degrees for an extended period will will cause your plants to not grow to there best . Purple plants are pretty but that's aesthetics.
  19. Your lowest temps indoor are 4 degrees C ??
  20. Bump for all the scrog fever going around
  21. 1 inch squares are perfect or around 40mm
