  1. Ahh, I think I misunderstood. So keeping everything inside the tent and using the light to charge the battery once load shedding has come to an end?

For air circulation, a UPS would probably work pretty well. Although it may be recommended to get one with a pure sine wave if your fan runs off AC mains and not DC.

Not sure one would be able to add an airpump to it, would depend on the output voltage. I assume the solar panel or light has a battery, most likely the light.

It may be easier to simply get a UPS and have a cheap LED bulb inside the tent (or two or 3 if you have a large tent) and have them setup to your timers.

You can connect the airpump and extraction fans to the UPS as well. This way the cheap LED lights can run during lights on (9w isn't going to make a big difference in your grow - otherwise one could get the light sensing bulbs with a day/night switch) and if it's lights on time and the power goes off, the UPS kicks in and keeps the lights going as per your regular cycle (be it 12/12, 18/6 or whatever).

Your extraction fans will keep running too and your airpump as they're all connected to the UPS. The extraction fans probably use the most power, my AC Infinity 6" fans are pretty efficient at around 40W at max power and I run them on setting 6 out of 10 currently. LED light can be 9W and airpump is like 5 or 6W for a dual outlet pump.

So if I am not running my extraction fan on full, let's say it'll use roughly 25W, then with the LED and airpump comes to 40W in total per hour.

So you'd need a 7ah battery to run everything for an hour, if you have a UPS which has 2x 7ah batteries in parallel that'll work for 2 hours roughly.

Or simply purchase a larger battery if need be or multiple 7ah batteries and connect them in parallel.

The UPS can always be re-purposed later on if need be.

Did I quick web search and seems like artificial light is able to charge solar panels (Don't know how efficient)

So you could possibly get one of these
    64fcbb25b9d6cd8dcbc8650a4d8fcf11.jpg

Which has a day/night sensor, can also add a solar powered airpump and diy it to the day/night sensor of the light?

Using an artificial light to get power from a solar panel is a silly idea as you would end up losing power due to the inefficiencies.

Although using a solar powered light to help your plants out during load shedding could work - Makro sell those LED lights which are battery powered for like R199. Magneto or something like that, not sure how well they work but that is another option too if the sun ain't shining - if its overcast or at night.

LOL I hear you... Generators are the way

Fossil feul is still king for now😂

You could get a training bike attached to a motor and the force of your own body can propel your household!!

Sommer get one of those tandem bikes so the whole family can join 😜

Hahaha, tandem bike for the whole family.

I watched a documentary thing on Youtube the other night about CO2 being extracted from the air and being turned into a fuel which can be used in cars and bikes and so forth and basically ends up with a carbon neutral output (so not adding more CO2 to our environment / atmosphere).

Rather use that to power a generator if possible, although still relatively new and only one of the solutions to try and lower CO2 and stop global warming.

Never too late. I am sure you may even have a pic or two from earlier on in the grow?

@Dr. Green looking great as always!

Thanks for the win on the picture of the month. I received my glass bong from highco and its being used very well, still used. However the bowl broke, any good suggestions where i can get another one?

Surely The High Co stock bowls too, or Will would be able to make a plan at least?

Otherwise I am sure your local china mall will sort you out one time.

  6. Breeding update: Pollinated my no name sativa with Purple Haze pollen 13 Nov. Got some nice seeds, cant wait so see the difference btw them, hopefully she wont grow as wild as her mom.

Make sure the seeds and pollen has dried properly, otherwise they can get mould and such.

A good way to prevent that and control the humidity is to use some desiccant. I like to use silica gel, the colour changing ones - that way I know if there is / was an issue and I need to change out the silica.

  7. Wow @Trailblazer420  - this is a cool thread and tx for your reports on tolerance. Its a new subject to me, only been dabbing for 5 months now - it is essential in my little experience to become clean once in a while.
Even with medibles is tolerance an issue. My purpose is the healing side of the experience. Your headaches still an issue?
I'd say anything which gets THC into your body would affect your tolerance.
It's playing on the receptors, it's affecting your tolerance.

  8. My dad bought a 5.5kw geni and it runs the entire house, geyser, kettle, entertainment... Everything
But if you have a flat or an apartment... You can't wham your geni on lol, UPS would be the way to go in that case
If I needed to draw 2.5kw and was in a flat... Fuck that! I'd run a generator. Would cost a fraction of the price - invite the neighbours over for a movie and then they won't care about the noise from the genny.

You can get a decent genny for under R10k new when I last checked.

  9. Sweet, I'll slowly add them to my repertoire.
I went with pyrol, even though plants get burnt, it really works... And then the neem for preventing a come back haha.
It was pretty pricey... 210 for the pyrol, and 120 for the neem, but once I have them all dead or under control, I rate those 2 bottles will last me close to a year... So in the end not so bad
Yeah, it lasts long once you've got it under control.

Since they're in flower you won't use it once they start to flower and once you're pest free may just be required on the odd occasion.

Looking good! Eager to see some bud formation start :D

  10. Nanners are a real thing with loadshedding my guy, I know...

Do you guys prefer UPS or generators... Say for around 2500W, to keep lights and fans going while loadshedding happens (so for around 2,5 hours)?
2.5kw on a UPS doesn't make sense really... Generator would be Waaaay cheaper it's not even funny.

2.5kw per hour for 2.5 hours? It's stupid how many batteries you'll need and so forth.

I have to admit, that was my concern with washing, great to see it does not affect quality. Indoor generally has less 'dirt' but there's always that rogue strand of hair or 5 that finds its way into your bud.

Yeah, with the negative pressures in my tents as soon as I open the door stuff gets sucked inside the tent.

After doing a bud wash and looking at the colour of the water, you really do not want to go back to not doing a bud wash.

  12. @CreX let me know if you come right, may be keen on a plant too.

When I last had some Salvia it felt like those R2 rides, light up and the same shit again and again. haha

@Dank think your friend may be able to help us guys in Gauteng out too?

I also have no clue how fast they grow or how easy they are to clone.

Last season I washed most of the harvest.  What I have found is that there is a definite advantage to it but what I did not like was the fact that my washed bud turned out far more pale in comparison to the un washed bud. It does not look as appealing. If at all possible I will do some propper testing this season.

    :-peace

I find it makes the trichomes pop a bit more in terms of looks. Makes the trichomes look "fluffier" if anything.

@Mambawana I guess if you are quite rough with it, trichomes could be lost. However that applies to handling of bud in general.

    @CreX

So I'm guessing you spraying the milk/water mix in flower right? Cos that's when you most likely to get pm.

Doesn't it turn the pistils brown? I would love to give it a try when I spot pm again.

I am sure you asked this question in my STS thread.

It does not brown the pistils, however I did not dilute my milk on the last spray and I feel that caused issues for me so I would recommend diluting the milk with some water - how much exactly, not sure... Maybe 50 to 70% milk.

I also always use a wetting agent when doing any foliar sprays, I use an organic one which works pretty well.

  15. I'd be interested to see side by side of a plant which was sprayed with Triacontanol vs one which was not sprayed.

Perhaps 2 cuttings from the same plant, see how much of a difference it makes over a certain period.

@Mambawana do you only use it as a foliar spray? How often do you spray and from when to when? I assume you stop during flower?

  16. I believe the strain and whether it is an indica dominant / sativa dominant would affect the cannibinoid profile which is responsible for the effects.

When you harvest can play a huge role as well, although as Totemic stated, that is to do with CBN.

I think it has alot to do with people rushing the drying and curing.

Some will say what I'm about to say is a waste of time but I hang dry for 2 weeks. Note I start plucking heads of it to smoke after like 5 days. After 2 weeks I put them in ziplocks and that's were they stay till it's all finished. I don't trim my weed. When I pull a head out it must look like a litchi with its peel on😂... It's like my party trick...

I think being in different locations affects the drying process, I imagine the RH in Durban to be quite high compared to Gauteng.

So drying bud in Durban would naturally take longer than in Gauteng. After a few days of drying bud in a tent, the RH starts to drop below where you want it to be. So around this point is when I put mine into a jar with boveda packs.
