Toby Posted August 17, 2017 Share Posted August 17, 2017 Morning all, Time to start a new a grow. I thought Ill post this grow journal up and get the input from the community as we progress. Bought these seeds from Bonza in Jan17. The list of strains is below. 1 x Barney's Farm Pineapple Chunk 1 x Bomb Seeds Medi Bomb #1 1 x Barney's Farm CBD Critical Cure 1 x Delicious Seeds Critical Sensi Star 1 x Resin Seeds Cannatonic 1 x Medicann Seeds Blue Blood Im using my own soil mix from a year ago, growing indoors in a tent of 1200X700X1650mm and 1 X P4 Sanlight. For ventilation 1 X 15cm CTF extraction fan and 2 X 12cm 220v fans mounted on the scrog screen to move air. I soaked the seeds in tap water for 24hrs and and straight into the soil afterwards. With the cooler weather recently and no warmth of a HID the germination took a day to 2 longer, but all is well currently. Heres my babies a week later. The info currently displayed on their website in terms of PPDF is off. The correct info as per supplier as follows. Height should be 60cm for veg, which will cover 1,2 x 2,1m or 2.52m squared and at a height of 30cm for flowering which will cover 1,4 x 0,6m or 0.84m squared Im pushing the optimal footprint for flower but will see how it goes. Trickerst Posted August 17, 2017 Share Posted August 17, 2017 Awesome, I was just wondering because it didn't seem like a crazily high powered light, how efficient is it when compared to a COB lighting system? For instance my 3 x Vero 29s Gen7 driver @ 2.1a a total PPF of around 460 u/mols (if all my math is right), what is this light outputting? Toby Posted August 17, 2017 Author Share Posted August 17, 2017 Ja is not that highly powered, 125w. The P4 delivers a PPF of 340µmol/s. On an area of 1,2m x 0,7m you get an average PPFD of ~400µmol/(m^2s) as the optics precisely steer the light into this area. - As per supplier. Toby Posted August 17, 2017 Author Share Posted August 17, 2017 Thanks for the input GLO, one day when Im big I want 30 µmol/(m^2s) per day. From the info I have gathered researching light output in terms DLI (Daily Light Intergral) for flowering. Cannabis requires a DLI of 18-25 per day. The current light at 12hrs on would produce around 15 µmol/(m^2s) per day. Its a touch under optimal but will see how it progresses. Hoping for optimal results. Toby Posted September 4, 2017 Author Share Posted September 4, 2017 Update time. 2 weeks later. I have repotted into a larger container as it was difficult to control the moisture. To date watered twice with dechlorinated water only. Raised the lights from 60cm to 1m as it was starting to burn the little ones. All seems ok currently. Some pictures below. I just liked the fact of having a bit of colour in there, so I run them 15 min either end of the light time. Toby Posted September 11, 2017 Author Share Posted September 11, 2017 Update week 4. I gave them all a light feed of amino acids. Dropped the light another 20 cm to 80cm, seems to be working well. I'm getting into the rhythm with them. I topped them after their third true leaves. My intention is to top twice. Detected some pests lurking and Pyroled their asses before they could cause any more damage. Inspecting daily under the leaves, all seem clear at the moment. Some images below. Toby Posted October 4, 2017 Author Share Posted October 4, 2017 Week 7, There were some issues with the transplant. Not to sure if its genes related as all plants got the same regiment. Same soil same alles. Seems to have recovered well. Only variable I can think of that could have a negative influence are those decomposable seed cups. Could have affected the ph somehow? I topped a 2nd time at the third node after the first split. So basically 4 main colas. (2nd image) Hopefully, pot up in the next week or 2, then flip 2 weeks later, depending on how full the scrog net is? Some images below. Toby Posted October 30, 2017 Author Share Posted October 30, 2017 Week 12, I had some major environmental issues. I swapped out my 6"/15cm inline fan for a 12cm 220v pc fan. Still getting negative pressure. The 6" was just too much for the tent. This grow is definitely drawing significantly fewer watts. I have potted up to final 20L pots. Going well at the moment. Didn't water for 2 weeks as the plants didn't show any signs that they need it. I have noticed that leaves are very shiny. Should I be concerned? Could it be too much N in my mix or strain dependent? Like a dominant indica trait? The top left plant is a problematic strain, loads of issues reported from various users online. Less is more in this case. I’m gonna go with nitrogen toxicity for those shiny leaves. It’s a bitch. The big Badazz plant in my tent had/has it. Thought I had it beat, but I haven’t been able to get rid of it, and it caused the plant to grow very bushy with many small leaves and buds. We’ll see what she yields. It’s easy to stay slightly lean with feeding, and dial it up a little when you see deficiencies. It’s a whole lot more difficult to feed lean with a rogue nitrogen source in your soil.
