  1. Getting some clones would be a great way to get started and easy enough to veg them out and fill your growing space. If your friend is happy with you keeping a mother from one or two clones, especially if it is proven genetics, that way you could have cuttings ready from the mom/s by the time you harvest. This will also cut down a lot of time for sprouting, vegging, sexing, selection, etc. There is no rush, my beans are frozen and will be available for the 420SA community whenever the need arises.
  2. @iHigh I don't have too much experience with the Auto's, but looking at the size of your room, it might become expensive to fill that baby with Auto's every grow. To maximize yield on the indoor its best if the growing space has a nice even canopy, from what I have seen with the Auto diaries, they seem difficult to train and will need a SOG (Sea Of Green). The nice thing about having a mother plant or two is that you get to know the strain very well, taking clones and trying to grow them better each time. Knowing a mother plant also allows more fine tuning of a growroom. If you want to go the photo-route I could send you some tester beans from my breeding projects for free, that way if you mess up its not a big deal. Not sure what the rules on the forum are regarding this, but the offer is there.
  3. @iHigh the mother room and veg area can be in the same room. Just shift plants and cuttings accordingly, to intense light could hurt new cuttings, small things like that. I keep mother plants and clones together. Space might become a issue depending on amount of mother plants and cuttings vegging out, but for a personal grow I am sure this will be fine.
  4. Received my order today, the glass nectar collector was very nicely packaged and arrived 100% in tact. The glassware is very nice, excellent quality and craftsmanship. I made a mistake with my order, but the support team answered and assisted me very quickly. Very happy with my purchase. Recommended. Stay Lit 420SA!

  10. I was kind of gathering it through your thread, lekker sense of humor. I prefer your extremely high explanation to UncleG's search results! This had me laughingMAO this morning - "If you have questions, pop them down below like a fat pimple. Stay safe, be blessed and never wipe back to front." Legendary status bro Vrede
  11. Awesome grow @Pat999 been scrolling through the whole thread, I had to qoute this, flippen mooi explanation! This would make a great sticky in itself. Thanks man that is some helpful info's. Flowers are looking JUICY, following along.

No fuss bro, I'm also a newb here at this forum. Don't buy any water, chlorine evaporates out of the tap water and @Totemic says no problem so I would really listen to them. I have abundance of rain, boorgat and river water, perhaps why i think its crazy giving municipal water to plants. Honestly though, listen to @Totemic and @420SA , regarding this matter, I am a organic soil grower. Buying water also just sounds very wrong.

Actually trying to help, I am not sure ALL OF SA's water is the same as the water you get? Or is it, our municipalities function at such a high standard. There is also this, I am by no means a expert but, correct the experts if they are wrong. Chlorine and Chloramines The most common issue regarding tap water and hydroponics is chlorine. Many growers don’t realize that chlorine is a micronutrient required by plants. The quantity they need is extremely minimal, though, so you do not ever need to add any. Most growers add chlorine without realizing it, since it is already in tap water—this is a rookie mistake. Because plants can absorb this micronutrient, they take in far too much from unfiltered tap water. The result is diminished growth. Root health is also disturbed by chlorine; beneficial bacteria and fungi are quickly killed off by this bleach-y element. The microflora and microfauna living in the root zone are key to high yields and healthy vigor—without bacteria, organic nutrients would be unavailable to roots. Don’t let chlorine kill the good guys! Chloramines are chemical compounds of ammonia and chlorine that are also often used as municipal water supply sanitizers. Chloramines do not evaporate from water the way chlorine does and many water filters that remove chlorine cannot remove chloramine. The effects of chloramine on your garden are even more detrimental than chlorine. - maximumyield.com/tap-water-and-its-impact-on-hydroponic-nutrients-and-supplements/2/959 -

Wow, I must say I don't think I would ever see anybody advising to give chlorinated water to plants, it is also fine to drink the chlorinated water out of a tap, doesn't mean your intestinal flora will be happy about it. To each their own, de-chlorinated water will still be sterile, in my opinion, even if you are growing hydro, why go ahead and kill the rhizosphere around the roots every day. Oh yeh the salts, hydro. "The rhizosphere is the narrow region of soil that is directly influenced by root secretions, and associated soil microorganisms known as the root microbiome." Just my 2 cents.

Welcome to 420SA @Shaun , congrats on your first grow. First thing, water out of the tap is a big no, the chlorine and other chemicals in the tap water will kill many beneficial microbes that are starting to colonize your growing medium. When using tap water it is best to let it stand for at least 24 hours, preferably 48 hours before mixing nutrients and feeding. Overwatering must be one of the biggest mistakes new growers make and can be a little bit tricky with Coco/Perlite when starting out. The thing to remember is that you will need to supply all the plants needs via your watering. I am assuming the mix is clean (washed) cocopeat and perlite, with nothing else, basically a hydro mix? Could you tell us about the conditions the plant has, temps, humidity, how often you water, etc. Also if you could perhaps post some pics of the new growth it will also help. Plants very rarely fix the damage on the lower leaves after a problem occurred, so it is important to take a look at all the other growth.
  17. That furry bug that I know not the name of, hang on, I think it could be some kind of mealy bug, not 100% sure, it will make more fluff and basically punctures the stem to feed of the plant (just my observations), if left unchecked can cause a lot of problems. Based on my own experience. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mealybug Please correct me if im wrong!!
  18. Looking nice @Bospatrollie2 , those three finger leaves happen from time to time, usually out of some plant that is reveging (for me), as well as later stages of bud formation the plant does not make any more big bladed leaves, I would say its normal. The only way to tell if she is a rudaralis baby is to grow her under 18 hours light, or in spring, if she buds, its a auto, not impossible with the amount of autos being grown these days. If its a Cheesy Mango flavour after cured could be some MangoSkunk, enjoy the fruits!
  19. Lol! Sounds like a plan! I hitteded uup that "notify me" button
  20. Went to visit my friends yesterday, brothers of the collective, vibe was good as well as a nice surprise, there was still a Kush plant growing in a shady spot that I never noticed before. Last tree standing, the plant managed to find its way up to the sunlight and is busy doing its thing, quite late in the season, the guys are battling some PM, but I am sure it will be under control by next week. Keeping an eye out for bud rot, but so far so good. Smells like some Vanilla Kush. When I asked the guys if they would like to pose for some bud shots, they said that they don't have any of the higher grade out, only the "majad"! Which now refers to the early harvested and popcorn buds. As we set up the tray with some of the buds, the Iya replies, "This is the morning stash mon!", just like in Strain Hunters Jamaica, classic!
  21. @Master_G your plants look absolutely delicious, I am sure you will be able to stretch the good quality weed until you harvest again. The quality on those strains are phenomenal, from personal experience I can tell you that a well grown Cookies is POTENT medicine, a little goes a long way. I am sure the rest of the strains are also Dank! Will keep an eye on your next grow for sure, I think when you fill that SCROG and flip it will be flippen mooi bru. Take it easy, hit us with a smoke report when those buds are nicely cured! EDIT: I almost forgot, was the daddy of those seeds a BruceBanner from the beans you ordered? If so, I would hang on to them, or if you don't want to grow them yourself, gift them to a friend, should be dank! Who is the Mom if Brucy is the Dad?
  22. Following! Best of luck with your grow @Zaskar09 may the ladies from sunny California bring you lots of happiness!!!
  23. Yeh no worries, a lot of things in this industry has been found out by guys experimenting. A real testament to what a versatile plant it is! If you are interested in preserving terpenes and if space is a issue, you can give freeze drying a try. little experiment im busy with. In the states they use expensive freeze dryers, that have a vacuum chamber, etc, to dry fresh plant matter, or resin heads collected via water extraction (bubble hash). Now you can do the same thing in your freezer, except it does not take 2 days, more like a few weeks, but the crazy thing is that it kind of works! Will tweak it a bit more, have only tested a very small batch, and also for drying bubble hash.
  24. Hi @Farmer Brown personally I like to build up my own living soils, in order to enrich them with micro-nutrients organically, by means of the compost and worm bin. I do a few other things but good composting will always reward growers. Here is a excellent thread on the forum from @Green Leaf Organics , Here is another nice article about the subject. nofa.org/soil/html/micronutrients.php
