  1. I used most of it in cannabutter, so the less taste there the better. I'm really happy with that result As for vaping, it still has a citrus taste so I'm also happy with that. I'm sure it is less than air dried, but I'm happy with it
  2. Same here. Happy to assist esp after the competition is done
  3. Great :). I'm going to keep them under cheap CFLs, seems like a nice inexpensive way to keep the strains I like.
  4. @PsyCLown I'm planning to have a couple of bonai mothers. This article explained it quite well: https://www.growweedeasy.com/how-to-keep-a-bonsai-mother-for-unlimited-clones Pretty similar to my "real" bonsai it seems, just more frequent pruning
  5. Really? We could not find anything so we just selected something unusual as the cause. Imagine what else they are misdiagnosing. wtf
  6. Good luck BTW what is the multimeter measuring?
  7. @Jay420herb have you looked at the DynaVap? No need for making THC vape juice etc, it is high quality and relatively cheap (compared to a reasonable battery operated vape). Depends what you are looking for, but I'm very happy with it.
  8. Yeah, exactly. That is what I think it is going to come down to for me. As I understand cannabis is C4 so this applies This is not my area so I'm not sure I'm getting all the detail. But as above, it does not see that the 25% extra energy cost is really worth it for most growers. However I do like knowing the relative tradeoffs behind the decisions. Thanks
  9. I've seen several people here and other forums arguing about 18/6 vs 24/0. From the bit of reading I've done it seems like this is not clear cut one way or the other. It seems like the idea that a dark period is beneficial comes from two things. Firstly the idea that plants need "rest" just as we would, however this is rather unconvincing as plants are not animals and anthropomorphism is not a convincing argument in general. Secondly plants apparently have a "dark cycle" however it seems like this just means that there are things that can happen without light, not that darkness is actually required. Which as I understand it means that the pros/cons are 18/6 Pro: does no harm to veg stage Pro: 25% less electricity Con: potentially slower growth than 24/0 (but to what extent?) 24/0 Pro: does no harm to veg stage Pro: potentially faster growth Con: more electricity So it seems like the decision mainly comes down to electricity usage. Given the cost of electricity a 25% reduction in usage could be significant and make this an easy choice. Does anyone have any articles/studies/papers etc that discuss this? People tend to be quite adamant that one way is clearly better than the other... It would be great to have some concrete facts or alternative just to know that for now it is debatable and both ways are entirely valid. (Having said that, I'm now considering switching to 18/6 ) Some references The Cannabis Grow Bible 4th edition - argues for 24/0 https://www.420magazine.com/community/threads/18-6-vs-24-0-the-science.425165/ - mostly pro 24/0 https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/cannabis-light-cycle-fundamentals-24-0-18-6-and-12-12/ - pro 18/6 (and fairly convincing I think)
  10. For the record, I ended up repotting in coco/perlite late last week and the plants are already looking way happier even this soon after the transplant. I also think that perhaps some of the damage was from wind burn so I've switched off my main fan for now. Thanks again for the advice everyone.
  11. As far as I understand what you are trying to do is gradually increase the nutrient dosage to get to the final result. You typically would not want to go higher than the maximum recommended EC or ml depending what you are measuring as that would cause nutrient burn. So I think you have two options 1) Start with the initial recommended dose, and then each week increase it a little so that by the end of the grow you are at the maximum recommended value 2) Start with the initial recommended dose, follow their schedule and then keep it at the maximum once you get there even if that is for a few more weeks. Perhaps one of the more experienced growers could say which is better (I'm guessing option 2). But whatever you do you'll need to watch the plan to see if there are any signs of burn or deficiency. I hope that helps
  12. I've switched to coco/perlite, for anyone doing the same I think you can follow the EC targets on this page with hortimix: https://cocoforcannabis.com/ectargets/ Seedling Early Veg Late Veg Early Bloom Late Bloom Ripen Flush 400* – 500 1100 – 1400 1200 – 1500 1100 – 1400 1300 – 1600 800 - 1100 0 - 200 *EC units are expressed in microsiemens. 400 microsiemens = 0.4 millisiemens
  13. This is a bit off topic for the thread , but... Not sure about that. I think in this case so far it is actually a win for us in terms of law. The constitutional court ruled that the current laws were not reasonable and needed changing. Its up the the government to draft laws and the constitutional court ensures they are constitutional. We are now just in weird place waiting for the actual laws to be drafted, and hoping that they are sane rather than triggering another round of legal fights. But that bit is all very lawfull The problem is the police not understanding the ruling. Hopefully they get educated soon, but I think it is pretty common world wide for the police to be a little resistant to being educated...
  14. @CheapHomeGrow I'm pretty new to it, so others here can probably answer with more detail. What I'd say that we are in a slightly weird position as the courts ruled a few months back that growing cannabis for "personal use" is legal. The government now needs to amend the laws to define what precisely that means. So we are currently legally allowed to grow cannabis but not buy or sell anything. I think selling seeds is a grey area. The big problem is that the deciding if it is for personal use or not seems to be up the police's discretion, i.e. they can arrest you and then the court can throw the case out. We've seen some ridiculous arrests recently, e.g. anything grow indoors with lights is called a "drugs lab", or pictures of them weighing the leaves and talking about the street value as if that is what is sold Despite this I'd say that growing is going quite well. There are a number of specialist shops already and there seems to be a general change in public opinion. There are also some comercial grows starting up so I guess that is sometime too. I'm pretty sure most of us hobby growers will continue growing whatever and hopefully the police start backing off.
  15. I saw it on the https://cocoforcannabis.com site, it was quite a prominente link . Feel free to DM if you have any questions I can help with
  16. @CheapHomeGrow nice! Welcome. I've recently finished listening to all your podcasts about growing in coco (with Dr MJ Coco), it was a *really* nice addition to the info on cocoforcannabis.com. And I've just finished repotting all my plants into coco . So thanks for the podcast, it has already been great.
  17. Another podcast that seems like it may have potential: https://cheaphomegrow.com/cannabis-podcast/
  18. Good point. I'll do that from now on.
  19. An organic potting soil, mixed with some vermiculite & perlite. But it has quite a high pH it seems.
  20. @greenkush right, thank you. I'll be more aggressive with trying to get the soil pH down then. So far I've been watering with water around 5.8 trying to lower the soil that is in the high 7-8 range. So far that's only dropped it to mid-7 at the very best. Perhaps I now need to add some soil additive that will help keep it down.
  21. Here is another pic, that may show it better... Thanks. I've done very little fertilizing so far. Would the high pH result in burn even with lower fert doses?
  22. Does this look like LED burn or is it more likely cause by the high pH issue I'm fighting with currently? I did lower my LED a bit, bestva 1000W was at ~50cm from top of plant I've moved it to ~60cm. So it could possibly be that. However my soil pH is still high 7, I'm trying to lower it but it keeps creeping back up after watering. When I look at the nutrient deficiency chart this looks closest to the picture of phosphorous deficiency but I'm not convinced... Anything else I should be considering? Thanks
  23. I'm wondering how much extra pollen will be flying around now. With the Cape Town wind they could end up pollinating a whole bunch of hobby grower's plants in the area
  24. Thanks @RedEye, I'll use that as a starting point for mine. FWIW I've converted it to excel and attached: 2019-05-30_17-21.xlsx You can customise by changing the 150L value. I'll fiddle more and upload again if I think it may be useful
