  1. @GGG Thanks for that, I will check out your diary too. I aim to try and make it low maintenance and keep the costs down at the same time. The worms keep busy in the pots and I put on the regular top feeds.

I mix together an even amount of worm castings with peat.

  2. I topped the two hash plants and cleaned up the bottom branches. I put down some worm castings, along with some more gypsum and 5-3-5 granules. They were looking hungry so I gave 2 scoops of feed and one full scoop of gypsum, this time.

large.IMG_20210515_155959.jpg.aef5336f213e884dd0d1f27712dada27.jpg I'm watering them once a day. I spray 500 ml onto each pot so that there isn't any runoff, I aim to keep the roots moist without them sitting in a damp puddle. The water is straight out of the tap and I don't ammend the pH.

  3. I planted up my hash plants on Wednesday evening. One has mycoroot and the other without. Let's see if it makes any differencelarge.IMG_20210512_221328.jpg.380d0cfe426431a2506d7356bf7b874a.jpgTwo similar sized clones for the myco experiment.large.IMG_20210512_221849.jpg.11d6d3f9607b62ad6c622b66ba4cd202.jpgmy seedlings are staring to pick up and are looking greener this week.large.IMG_20210515_160010.jpg.37d3b56f42bf61480ae3c3f939beb38f.jpgnew cuttings from the hash plant/blueberry girls.large.IMG_20210515_160158.jpg.448afbde29429f6c30635bf5f5555fde.jpgI put these two into some fresh soil and topped them up with some worm castings

  4. @Live Canna thanks for the tip. I'm down in the Cape Town area and the only time I used Lucerne it came in a big bale for horses. We put it into the compost pile and it made it really heat up. It's good to know that you can also use it indoors too.

@The_StonedTrooperthe bricks I buy are supposed to be Pre washed and buffered but the EC starts off at 2.2 and it's only after soaking and rinsing it out twice that I bring it down to 0.7

Its a lot of effort it takes a long time to get it ready to use.

  5. last week's neem spray was a bit heavy at 3 ml but the only bugs I can see now are fungus gnats. The leaves didn't like the spraying every 3 days but it seems to have broken the remaining mites and thrips. I cleaned up the bottom branches and will give a spray of fish mix next time.

On Tuesday I did a top feed of malted barley and on Thursday I did a light spray with kelpak at 0.5 ml. The seedlings all had the same dose too.

I took the lid off the clones today and noticed the first root poking through. Now the humidity is higher its a good time to harden them off before they get transplanted.

This weekend I must put up the rest of the mylar, before the irrigation gets put it into place.

  6. @Live CannaThey are looking much better now. Was it Atami Coco that you used? I have used their blue bag and it was really good quality. I've had lots of problems with using the bricks though and it takes a lot of water to get it ready to use.

How much alfalfa do you mix in and where do you get the it from?

  7. Hello mense,

I haven't used greenhouse powder feeds because the price is our of my range. R1200 per kg is too much for my purse. It does look like very good stuff and I'm sure it will work well.

I have used talborne pellets indoors and they do work very well. I put I on the top of my soil every 2 weeks throughout the grow. The problem I have with it indoors is the smell. The stuff stinks to high heaven and I think it has some urea in it, which isn't the best form of N for cannabis.

For the last few years I have swapped over to Naturado granular ferts. Its R100 a KG from the garden centre and the main component is soy cake and oilseed meal. I top dress every 2 weeks with roughly 1 tablespoon for every 5 litres of soil and I can feed a whole crop with roughly half a box of it.

    100% 🙂 It does get a lot.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind, but I only fed them one compost tea before I left, and they were already in this state, so I don't think that is the case here. In the past grows I have had, I did a lot of compost teas in the same method and never had an issue. I am becoming more aware of the compost I buy though, as I have found a lot of pests in recent ones "I believe at least". I will attach a screenshot of the contents of my soil, the highlighted column to the right of the black line is what I used at the end of the day.

    Yup, overwatered and under nuted.

Thanks bud, sadly no EC pen, but some solid advice here. Maybe EC pen should be my next purchase over soil PH. Because as you say, I can test run off. Just always more of a mission. Haha I must agree, I also feel that some days organic can be more work.

There is quite a bit. I think I started these guys way back in FF soil, and then I transplanted to my soil. I will attach a screenshot of the contents of my soil, the highlighted column to the right of the black line is what I used at the end of the day.

Thanks for all the help peeps. I will report back as they 'hopefully' recover and let you all know what I did and what happened 🙂

Good morning, I use a lot of the same ingredients as you. I didn't add any frass, fulvic or alfalfa meal though.

I have a couple of questions. What sort of Coco did you use and did you rinse the salts out of it? how did you buffer it?

  9.

Hi there. My seedling starts are a bit hit and miss but I have managed to raise 5 young ones. More by luck, than any kind of skill I have developed they haven't died this time. Praise Jehovah and the Ganga gods for my good fortune, the best thing I can do is get them into bigger pots before I do something potentially lethal to the little things.

I bought some mylar on Friday and while I was in the shop I got a packet of mycoroot too. I want to see for myself if it actually does anything beneficial to cannabis roots, or if it's just more snake oil from the grow shops. My plan is to dose 3 seedlings and leave the other 2 for control. 5 ml of granules in each pot.

I won't go heavy with the feed, but they can have a sprinkle of gypsum onto the surface to keep the going for now

    large.IMG_20210501_183313.jpg.a0927f67f4fcc8ca05ebb2e91257f7bc.jpg

I added 20  ml mycoroot to one hash plant for a side by side comparison.large.IMG_20210501_183327.jpg.8e6c188392562c99b3482ec164a5a15a.jpg

2 out of the 3 cheese clones have been dosed with 10 ml mycoroot sprinkled onto the surface.large.IMG_20210501_183858.jpg.5195b3b4f9cc8c9622814f5f161ae00b.jpg

I watered all the pots and also did a quick neem spray at 3 ml per litre. I moved the seedlings out the way because they are still a bit young for the heavy bug sprays.  I then sprayed all of the outside garden with a strong dose of funginex, because the PM is lurking around outdoors in the shady corners of the yard.

  10. Good morning mense, I am getting prepped for another round of winter flowering. I took a few snaps last night, inside the veg room.

My biggest girls needed topping so I made a couple of clones too.

This is my plant food, just chuck down a scoop full every two weeks and that's the feeding taken care of.

    large.IMG_20210429_223454_HDR.jpg.a2d4eef4ec4ef30055df7f94d24f18e2.jpg

Half a scoop of gypsum to add calcium sulfate

I soaked the plugs overnight and took the cuts before I apply more ferts to the donor plants. I cut near the node, cover the end in hormone and push it into the plug.

The ferts will get mixed in at the next watering. Today I am doing a bug spray, I alternate between neem oil and garlic for the pests and moulds.

  11. Thanks for the welcome. I can take some pictures when I take my clones, I just need to buy a razor blade and prep the cubes first of all.

The seedlings are strong but all the clones have pests and mildew issues so there's plenty to keep me busy while I get them cleaned them up.

    @The_StonedTrooper cheers dude.

  12. Hello, I'm just starting a new project for the winter. I've  managed not to kill some seedlings of a variety called Zain, originally from  green gage. 5/6 have popped and are looking strong.

Then I was given 3 clones of Big Buddha Cheese and the idea is to do a pheno hunt and find a potential mother plant.

The other 2 clones I have are California Hash Plant x Blueberry from Dinafem. Apparently it's hardy and mould resistant and can finish in 7-8 weeks.

I am just about to top the 2 hash plants and make a couple of clones from them.

So far so good. Thanks for reading my intro.
