  1. Some guys put a layer of ice cubes at the base of the stem during the last 48hrs to mimic a cold snap which supposedly stresses the plant in a good way? I have to be honest I don't know how stoned these guys were went they thought of this.. so might be old stoner tales or based on some semblance of science..
  2. @Chris Jay truly a labour of love and something worth fighting for. Durban Poison is that one strain from Africa that got the European tongues wagging throughout the 90's. And as you rightfully said I think there might be some stories to tell in terms of the journey the real og landrace strain took. To imagine GSC is supposed to be bred from a DP strain.. I have a friend that has long sought to try and get the closest to the og DP. And from some reading it sounded like Dutch Passion had the closest take to the original so he settled on a batch from them. Sad though that there is no local supply of our own local pride..
  3. @Chris Jay wicked stuff man. I would love to learn more on the landraces specific to our Southern Africa climate. We all grew up with the terms Swazi, Rooibaard, Malawi Gold thrown around but not really understanding the crucial importance these strains played in the evolution of the cannabis industry. What project are you currently busy with if you don't mind me asking?
  4. @TheUltimateNoob I can see we will be chatting a lot boss.. I like the fact that you repurpose and macgyver that shit to cut cost and cut down on wastage. Going green in several ways. What lights you gonna be running in the flower zone? What will that space size be? P.S I have a Fat Banana by Royal Queen set up for the next run and I dig that poster
  5. @TheUltimateNoob haha shit bro I thought the top tent might be for the smurf... but the way you describe it makes more sense I see a couple of diaries on the way
  6. Great stuff, thanx bro. I will be sure to keep that in consideration for the final veg stretch. Seems like that stretch will be quite intense.. Thanx for the tip on offsetting the growth. Much appreciated. I am excited to see the main cola exercise, sure it will look awesome with your tree tending skills!
  7. Hey bro. After reading your dairy on the flux mainline method I decided to go with that flow. The decreased veg time when compared to the Nugbuckets method is a definite benefit. 2 specific strains I am running are loving the topping and tie down high stress training. Peyote WiFi by Seedsman and Washing Machine by Ripper seeds. I did the second and final topping today but the two 2 new grow tips on either side still need some growth.... With your experience, how far do I still have to go in veg before flipping? Washing Machine Peyote WiFi As you can see I also went with the Perlite top layer for the soil run off and it works real well, thanx for the tip The clean up for the flux mainline also results in some real nice clone cuttings which turns out to be real benefit when you consider the price of decent genetics. Happy growing
  8. Thanx bro. I really do appreciate the feedback and assistance. Will give them a go. Happy growing
  9. Thanx brother. I appreciate the feedback.
  10. Hi folks, Hoping I can get some guidance from forum members who might have had the same scenario. I have a friend that has to get a couple of clones down to CPT from PTA. He has decent packaging - Cannapro Live transport clone. Any trusted couriers for express that anyone knows of?
  11. @swazired yo man. I am also new to the forum and bought some great breeder packaged seeds from Biltong and Budz. It included Dr Kripling, Royal Queen Seeds, Ripper seeds, seedsman and Dutch Passion. All neatly packed and shipped on time during lockdown. On the other hand as I've read through the forum the one guy you might want to chat with for locally bread strains is @Totemic His knowledge is diverse and he might have something your interested in. Happy strain hunting
  12. I saw these lights on a local site while browsing for an upgrade for my 1.2 x 1.2 space. I am still new to the intricacies of LED/QB lighting and the qualities associated with diodes and drivers. The set up looks real functional and also encompasses the entire grow cycle requirements for spectrum. @StickyD420 How would you rate the efficiency, effectiveness and quality?? Since joining the forum there seems to be consensus that GrowOpz has some of the meanest lighting at competitive prices while also offering trust and honesty, which seems to be lacking in the sale of lighting to noobs... like myself Happy that I joined
  13. @TheUltimateNoob hey bro. No grow journal yet for me. Only keeping a photo diary and some manual notes. This being my first indoor grow, and also new to forums, not even sure where to begin with a grow diary. Yours was on point have to admit. So on the mainline topic. I think we have to engage a bit on the different 2 methods most commonly out there. One being the Nugbuckets method and the other the Nebula haze "flux" mainline. As I understand you ran the Nebula Haze method?
  14. I actually had 2 friends that bought separate QB setups from them. 1 went smoothly and without a hitch... the other not so much. The order in question was a 120w lm301h QB with additional red and UV. The light came in at R3000 (since then the price has bumped up to R3600) After some emails to confirm the order my friend received confirmation that the order will be delayed till the end of the month due to lockdown and Covid-19 implications. Which was totally understandable. They offered a full refund or free delivery and 5 free seeds from Bulk Seed bank asdvertised for sale on their website. Happy with the purchase and willing to wait he opted for the free seeds. The order eventually arrived but without the seeds as promised. The light was atleast a decent true representation of the advertised piece even though there is only 1 picture on their website to compare it with... After 3 unanswered emails to enquire on the seeds my friend is still waiting.. in this case I think there is just too much on offer product wise and too little on offer customer service wise. With the cannabis industry booming in SA it is easy to see a great business opportunity to try and flog products to avid customers. The problem lies in the business ethic and integrity of the company/person you are dealing with. If a product is unavailable mark it as out of stock. If it is a made to order product, make a note on the product description to state the same. If you delay an order and offer a comprise, keep to your promise... just keep it real and the support of your business will grow.. Or else you might just get screwed like Cannabist..
  15. @TheUltimateNoob Bro.... Sorry I was probably high and crossed 2 threads. My bad man. I will also be adding the perlite top layer to help avoid that soil runoff. And it looks epic like you said Thanx again for sharing the grow diary, it'll go far in guiding me. My washing machine is almost ready for the second top
  16. @TheUltimateNoob duuuude Great grow diary man. I will be sure to use it as a guide when going through the grow cycle on my side. Your training was done exceptionally well. I think I saw you mention Seagro. I am an avid fan of Seagro as a base nutrient during veg. Did you use throughout the cycle? And another quick question. I did a test of our tap water and it averages a PH in the low 7 range. Seagro is an acidic solution so can one assume that by mixing it with the tap water the PH would come down to the 6 range? Reason for the question is the fact that I use the manual PH testing kit and I struggle to see the colour reactions. Especially when testing after adding Seagro due to its dark colour.
  17. @TheUltimateNoob Thanx for the feedback man. I would like to see some pics of your mainline topping timelapse. That'll help guide me with the tie down positioning to ensure sufficient space between colas. I'm with you on the different folks different strokes philosophy when it comes to the ladies. Kind of like different strain different train in my case. It all boils down to what the ladies tell you at the end of the day. What was your total veg period after the final 3rd topping and tie down prior to flipping? I just want to ensure enough vegetative growth to sustain solid flowering. Thanx for the guidance.
  18. Hi bro. I think you have a great thread going here. There is a lot of subjectivity when it comes to training methods and an overload of info on the Web. The holy grail being.. max yield, max potency. I eventually decided to go for an 8 cola mainline method on my 1st indoor grow. This after trying out various other LST and HST methods outdoors. I am currently running some different strains in my grow tent and some are taking more fondly to the top and tie down than the others. The washing machine strain from Ripper seeds is an epic pheno with insane growth. She loves the HST and recovers like a beast. Problem I have is that the other 4 strains arent necessarily taking to the HST like a champ. I am stressing that I will lose the advantage of an even canopy. Would you suggest tweaking the topping count per plant as they take to the training and recovery? Or adapt the training completely to include other LST/HST variants? Or should I perservere and just systematically top and train when they are ready without stressing too much on the difference in growth before I flip to flower? These ladies are currently almost 5 weeks old. First top and tie down on 3 of the ladies were over the past 2 days. 2 ladies still to show sufficient growth tip to tie down. Awe. *The lady in the black pot was a late entrant in the tent. She will not be part of the 8 cola mainline exercise.
