Nice selection of varieties going in here. Does the resinous one have much of a smell yet?

    Hey bud.

It's quite funny that you ask as I actually went on a little smelling investigation earlier today but no distinctive terpenes pushing through just yet but I have a feeling that it will be a diversely stinky bunch at the end of the day 😂

On a happy note the Tortoni #2 and Bubblegum has also started showing some nice snow covered tops :-trip

Had them out of the tent for a good inspection. 2 more have been cut. No13, the outlier from the start is just a weak plant, while no11, is showing its hermie nature quite oddly, pushing growths along a fan leaf stem, but nevertheless has been cut.

    IMG_20210623_085138.thumb.jpg.75c30d159b32e4b89fb702c49ca04567.jpg

Wherever there is abnormal growth in that nodal area its a clear indication of the hermi trait. Even though those arrowed growths are showing only pistilate and not a single ball sack yet.

So that leaves me with No1, 2, 5, and 6. Their side views. All virtually the same height at 70cm.

And of course let's not forget the male. He is now reached his peak at 6 weeks of flower. I have been monitoring his development, deciding if I want his pollen. He produces copious amounts of pollen, pushing a fair amount of resin glands... Overall a lekker male. Something that many aren't doing. Don't grab the first pollen that your male gives. Grow him all the way out and check him out.

As always I don't collect and use pollen, but always a live male, so he is joining the remaining 4 in the tent for only 2 days before going to reveg. That's more than enough time to ensure a full pollination.

  4. Good day folks.

So the flowering cycle is now in full swing and I can see several bud sites popping up all over the place. Currently sitting on day 20.

I really do like the flowering stage so much as you can see a lot of progression within the space of a week. All the ladies have shown quite a good stretch and I am sure there is still more stretch left in them.

Between the 2 Tortoni's the one I popped last is actually stretching and growing bigger than the 1st Tortoni seed that was popped. So Tortoni #2 is actually catching up to the tallest lady in the tent, the Twisted Helix...

The one thing that REALLY excites me at the moment is the Twisted Helix.. I am already starting to see sprinkles of tricome on the bud sites. I haven't had a strain before that expressed such early tricome development so this is getting me real giddy. All the other ladies are also looking stellar and will soon start introducing TopMax to the feeding regiment.

After a few years of absence on the forums i felt I had to come back and give credit where credit is due.  Totemic is truely bringing us fire genetics.

    Plants cultivated outdoors in winter

I have had the chance now to test a lot of fem seeds by totemic lately and will bring my review on the other strains once the go into flower . For now I will speak about chocolate Gelato x slurricane Fems which I found contain a 99% successful female rate

This cross is extreamly resistant to mildew with 13% showing signs of mildew , bare in mind it's winter. They are also exteamly pest resistant and had no issues with pests. There are roughly 9 phenotypes but that can be expected with them being S1. There's a good mix of sativa and indica dominant phenos . Whilst I do not normally enjoy sativa dominant phenos as a fair majority contain alpha pinene which is one terpine I really dislike flavour wise , I am finding the sativa dominant phenos are carrying high levels of mercene which is my favorite terpine and usually found mainly in indica dominant. Most of the plants are carrying  the terpine profile of slurricane .There is one pheno occurring at a 8% rate that is a lower yielder which is the only drawback I found whilst not a big one as quality is on point . I also had a 1% mutant rate.

    I had a germination rate of 93%.

I have spent a lot of money on imported genetics and I can honesly say that totemic brings us fire . I personally won't be cultivating imported genetics for a while . There is a noticeable difference in the way the plants handle our climate over imported genetics . Breede locally for our climate and putting our money back into our local community .

Love what you doing totemic and keep it up.

Ps I am not a tester for totemic I am just a guy that wanted to give them a go and was extreamly happy and they went way above  my expectations

  6. @PsyCLown thanx for the heads up man. It's been a couple of crazy weeks.

So currently we are on day 14 since the flip to flower. Some of the ladies have started stretching real nice. I made some notes on the height prior to flip so will be interesting to see which lady wins the race.

Some of the ladies are already starting to show some nice bud sites and starting to push pistils while others are taking their time.

I did a minor defoliation on the mothers and this should be enough for the final flowering stage (might trim a little here and there as the stretch settles) I also didn't defoliate the Bubblegum again as I like the current look..

All and all happy with the current situation and hoping that the rest of the flowering period will go on incident free.

Yeah it's the art that pushed the price... Not the seeds

As a breeder you probably know the scene quite well. Are GGG really all that and a bag of chips?

Do they hold super rare cuts or do they just create new shit that is fire? Can you compare them to InHouse Genetics?

I see 7 regulars goes for about R2300 on B&B and that is quite a stiff price..

Does anyone else have massive leaves like this.

This is a first for me. But also the first time i have used Explogro. Could this be the culprit. I will need to plant another seed that i have in my arsenal and see what the results are. If this is the case, I have found a new weapon. hahaha

Hey bro. Your plants have a very nice colour well done.

But in my limited experience those plump leaves curving a bit downwards might be a sign of overwatering.

Good luck for the rest of the grow man!

Donor/mother plants were harvested on Sunday. Quite stoked with how they came out, but I think they would have done better if the lower growth was removed so the plants could  focus on the top colas. guess that's comes with more experience, this is only my 3rd proper grow. I will probably wash both of them through bags and press the hash.

Tent ladies... First thing I noticed when I opened the building door was sharp acrid burned electrical smell. 1 of the RAM circulation fans had burned out during the evening. Quite fucked off with that, these fans were a new addition for this grow. Less than 3 months old!!

I have no idea what the dry yield is going to be. Anyone keen to hazard a guess? I'd love hear from the seasoned growers.

Looking very cool man. I see you did a full on lollipop on all the ladies.

I would throw a number out of between 10 to 15 grams dry trim weight per plant.

So all in all between 160 and 200 grams I would guestimate...

I enjoyed following your grow. Went a lot faster than a Baobab 😂

  11. Hi folks.

So I flipped to flower on the 31st of May. I was satisfied with the sizes of the plants taking into consideration the clones in the middle of the tent that will also add to the total yield.

I have cleaned up the 6 mother plants and will clean up the clones by the weekend. Then maybe one final clean up at the end of week 2 of flower. Struggling a bit with colder temps and Eskom fucking around but other than that not a lot to complain about.

Cleaning up the plants have also introduced me to their unique smells. It's really nice to start to smell the ladies and what they might represent going into flower.

Please mind the drooping Twisted Helix.. it turns out she drinks a lot and only got a feed after the clean up. Here are some before and after pics...

Its looking great already, and I'm sure they will turn out just perfect if you flip next week or so. But when plants become more established in the root zone, they essentially end up growing/vegging faster. Veg another 2/3 more weeks and the growth will be surprising. Also the small clones that you going to flower in there too with the other plants, I like that Idea, wondering if there is a way to separate them big pots one side and clones another and possibly elevated if necessary, just an option, then the bigger plants wont shade them heavily.

Otherwise, looking great brother flip now or later! Still gna be a banger!

Thanx bro I appreciate the input. Yeah I agree with you and PsyCLown and will give it a couple extra weeks. With the training I did most of the plants in the big pots will not grow over the pot perimeter so should hopefully not cause any shade spots. I am also lucky in the sense that I have 3 independently adjustable grow lights so I can angle it once we see who wins in the stretch.

I also agree with your take on not training right before flipping. The ladies already have some vertical nodes but can definitely do with some more. And like you say springboard for the stretch is a good idea if I have already come this far. Little bit more time for more reward sounds like a good plan

Thanx for the constructive input bro, much appreciated! I haven't really pushed hard on the vegging height previously so it will be nice to see what I end up with given the extra veg time. ✌️

Yes sir that will be the idea to increase the yield for the tent.

And also my mobility will be a bit of a problem for the next few weeks so don't want to be moving pots around.

Hopefully with the clones I can get to that 300g or more again.

  16. Hi folks.

So this weekend saw the transplant of the clone ladies from 15cm to 20cm pots. The root systems looked super happy and healthy with a nice shade of white. Mind the droopy leaves they got a feed straight after the transplant..

I will probably flip to flower this coming weekend as the height of the ladies should be sufficient enough to ensure nice big and tall main colas.

Will post some close up pics with my first post flip post :-thumbsup

Just shy of week 16 I've decided it's time to start chopping.

The ladies were not gonna survive the next round Mother Nature was sending our way.

Decided to do a wet trim which gave me an opportunity to double check for bud rot as these buds are tight man.

This little 3l pot grow produced the perfect plant to trim. Easy to hold between buds, hardly any sticky fingers and one very easy trim.
