Just thinking now that if I use the 100mm, then I'm making my grow space really cramped as one of the sides is already just under 500mm without any insulation. Would the 50mm still work to a degree?

That's a good point you make, you could compress that material and make it thinner, but not sure if it would suffice the same sound deadening measures as before.

It should still work according to me.

I think something like this is gonna do the job 👌

That is the best for the job, if you can get it local and cost is good for you, I say go for it brother, as you cant go wrong with that too as @GGG mentioned, and his advice is solid.

No mate I made the mistake of not posting what I said I was going to. If I’m going to post an opinion or suggestions a best back them up and follow up. Totally agree this post and my want to share all cane from a bad experience with another online bank I started a thread on about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I went in the search for banks that would reply to me etc and this one and another very small but cool bank in Cpt called Hey bud helped me with some seeds as well, nicely priced just not the biggest variety but reliable.

Thanks for at least showing interest and replying, I always love a good chat, even more when it’s about anything to do with growing. I’m new to this site so I’ll try and be more active on different topics as well.

    Have a good one.
    Chat soon.

I couldn't agree more, great constructive conversation and challenging ourselves is a must, it's how we learn.

Nice chatting to you too and look forward to seeing your grows soon.

We all share the same love, one magical plant.

  4. Again, my bad for any misunderstanding and was expecting a different post from you and then another post came, similar review style.

I think in today's age, we all need to vigilant and be sure we get what we paying our hard earned money on.

The more companies, the more competitive market, the better for us all.

1800x500x900 steel cabinet with wooden doors. I can put extractor fan inside with acoustic ducting leading out. Inlet  fan will have to be outside I'm guessing..

Your ducting will fit on the ends of the fan, so wont make the fan noise go away, that's if your fans even make a noise.

What I've seen, is a soundproof box made that houses the fans, both, and the ducting directions from there to and from area.

I think you have the general idea and direction, with a good understanding now, and I know you'll do just fine.

Actually, would it work, if I mounted the inlet right on top of the cabinet, and then had acoustic ducting redispersing the air at the bottom. Don't wanna put the inlet fan at the bottom because the area is in the corner of my garage and very dusty etc

Ideally, cold air in at bottom and hot out on top, as hot air rises.

Plus, CO2 is heavier than O2, and by thus removing air from the top, you removing the O2 and keeping the CO2 inside.

What you can do, is mount it up, off the floor and out of the dust, and pipe it down into the room, or better, filter the air in as most would advise you and for more cleaner air and plant growth. You can get that later as your on a budget as most of us are.

    Peace

Lol.... just sharing my experience not here to convince anyone. If you really keen then email Humboldt and ask them to confirm any SA agents. Didn’t think to post the last order 🤷🏻‍♂️

Didnt mean to offend anyone, last thing I want to do...

You had mentioned before, you would post the Dimafem

On 6/20/2020 at 12:45 PM, Burly said:

Yeah that doesn’t sound good nor like his seeds as he only sells Dinafem and Humboldt breeders. I’ll post pictures of my packaging from them.

Or I misunderstood you, then you posted the other Humboldt pack, so was confused.

Your posts original felt like I was reading an article by a shareholder, or just me smoking to much.

  8. Most grow rooms are not soundproofed, and your extraction fan and inlet fan, I take it would be outside your grow space, no?

If that is the case, you dont need to soundproof the grow area, the lights and plants are not going to make any sound, nor your 30cm fan. You'll want to silence the extract fan and inlet fan only. My understanding.

More for  unwanted suspicions, bit for my own sanity as well haha. What would you recommend I used for insulation?

Haha, I cant handle unwanted sounds, small annoying things...

You can go with the expanded foam, hard if you haven't got a backing and only one sided.

You can go for underfelt carpet, or that type of mixed material recycled blanket?

Just check what's easy to get at the best price point

What would be the best way to soundproof my grow area?

It's basically a steel cabinet with wooden doors.

Would soundproofing foam work? Or does anyone have any recommendations?

Well, are you soundproofing for your own sanity, or just to stop unwanted suspicions?

It would definitely help to insulate the system, if between 2 layers or board walls. If not for the actual sound deadening.

I emailed them last week because they had the secret jardin ds120 on their site to confirm stock. They replied that yes they stock secret jardin. I sent another email asking if the specific model I requested was in stock, when will they ship it after receiving payment and what courier they used. I never received a reply. I emailed info@onlinegrowshop.co.za but the reply came from some random gmail address.

You seem to like finding the dodge sites, as with Maryandjane.co.za which we still dont know.

    No refund so far.

I'd rock up there or send someone for my money back in cash.

    Bad service and business, wow.

@StickyD420 Some good info, thanks for sharing. I working towards a no till bed as it seems cheaper and less work in the long term. I find water source and ph to be my biggest issues. What natural goodies do you use to PH?

Ive seen some guys apply the Tea from  https://organicraft.co.za/  with good results

@Ill_Evan Definitely want to try some mainlining at some point, thanks for posting. Keen to see what you think of the Royal Gorilla

Thank you, just help where I can.

Long run, no nutrients, no repurchasing grow mediums, and it gets better as it ages. That's a good investment and sustainable too.

The water I use normally needs to pH down, so I use lemon juice, fresh, or can use vinegar or even citric acid, but the vinegar needs to be a certain type and process and I dont enjoy putting powder in my water so dont use the citric acid.

Mainline is so worth the effort, just need the extra training time before flowering and know just how far to bend or how to coerce the branch that you get the angles, without the snap, crack or pop.

    Enjoy your adventure brother.

Thanks bud. Not really too clued up with this stuff, but will go check out my local garden store and see what they have. Btw I've been making my own compost in my garden recently too..

    My pleasure brother,

I'm happy to help, and you can hit me up about anything you need and I'll do my utmost best to answer you or advise the best I can.

    Any microbes you recommend adding?

One fan should be enough for me though? 1800x500x900 space

1x fan, with air in and air out, 100 perfect. You could add one more trowing air up or down, but not very critical now. Keep an eye on your RH and go from there.

Microbes, hmmm, my personal choice, is Biodyne Environoc 401 sold over counter, but try find the Biodyne liquid gold if you can.

There are others too, Kelpak is good, they actually rave about our brand overseas, as it is a cleaner and has more active and living Microbes than others. Worm compost and teas, and there is worm compost in the FF soil.

Check what is best and local to/for you.😉

Oh and adding any powder nutrients or anything not natural, will effect and harm or kill off the Microbes.

Lots to learn. Just hope it's smooth sailing without too many issues lol

You need to first find what medium works for you best, or you feel will be easier or better suited to your style. I think soil is a good choice.

You can grow in that soil in 2 ways, adding nutrients that the plant can use straight up at the roots, or you can add Microbes in the start, and they will begin consuming the rock dust and minerals that are in that FF soil, building on it and making it healthier over time, and the Microbes will feed the roots instead, and you'll feed the Microbes with the molasses.

    3 minutes ago, zolrooker said:

Perfect, I have 3 of them, you dont want any parts having stagnant air pockets.

  17. 1 minute ago, zolrooker said:

Planning on using just the molasses, if it would work

I've never used FF soil before, but I'd say it should get you there, a rule to remember is once you start using nutrients, you'll need to up it and keep using it, from my experience and research. You can add that as you get to week 3 of flower or even sooner, up to you. Try find something with P and K in natural form for flowering, but not needed really.

Get the hang of growing and this plant, and then start mixing in nutrients and see, you might not like using bottled or powdered nutrients.

Thanks, think I'll get another fan then.. And ive got some drums I can use to catch rainwater.. when it rains. Need to find my tds meter.. The ro filter I have is meant to give zero ppm tds readings, so I'm guessing that's not gonna work..

RO water starts at 0ppm, so you add nutrients and minerals as you like, you become the scientist...lol.

Parts Per Million, you are adding those parts, as you see fit.

Then you take the ppm up till a level the plants are happy at.

Just an update on what im planning so far. (Already ordered most of the stuff, if i didnt have it in possession already..)
        1800x500x900 grow space
        80-150w LED grow light (Dimmable)
        Space blankets
        Hygrometer
STC-1000 Temperature controller + Fan Heater
        2 x  90 m3/h extractor fans (1 in + 1 out) with acoustic ducting
        3 x fabric pots (10 liter)
        Freedom Farms Premium Soil
        PH testing kit
        Timers
        Seeds:
           1 x Amnesia Haze
           1 x Master Kush Grand
1 x CBD Good Wild Shark
        Blackstrap molasses

Does this look like all i need? Anything else?

    Hey Zol,

Do you plan on using any other nutrients besides the molasses?

With your light, you wont need to cool, only move air around, and well as Prom mentioned.

I'd always pH, even tank water, as I've honestly seen 7.1pH rain water caught in a tank before, so rather safe than sorry.

RO water is perfect if you cant use rain, as then you basically telling the water what you want in there from the start, and not working on a guess.

    Peace🖖

Thanks for the insight guys! And yeah I noticed the warning on that tent. I'll probably go pop in the store this weekend and have a look myself.

As I said, most my goods come form, or will come from Futurama, but if a place puts a warning it might tear, then to me they themselves have no faith or its happening more than once. Again, I like Futurama 😊

Hi man, the Mammoth 120 has 210D Mylar and the Series 3 has 600D Reflective heavy duty fabric. I would Assume the 600D is better but I see most good brands use 210D Mylar

The 210 is a T and the 600 is D, as @PsyCLownmentioned, and therefore different material make up, the 210 is more a nylon probably or something, I'm not sure, but the 210 seems stronger made, and as much I like Futurama, if their tent has a warning on the site, that they are tight and can rip if not treated well, I tend to stay away from those items.
