  1. Thanks brother, great info as alway. Lots of things to consider. Might delay for now and just buy.. Will see how it goes

    Always a pleasure

Yeah give it some thought man, don't rush the decision...

    I thought of this while trying to figure out a solution;

Renting a space for the sole purpose of having it as a grow space would be in a grey area with the new cannabis bill as the bill only states limits based on the number of individuals residing on the premises.

No one would be staying at your new grow space, it could be used against you in legal terms.
    .........
Its just another risk IMO... Any thoughts on that part guys? I'm really not sure about it.

I've also heard of this club that grows your seeds for you at a fee every month until the product is shipped out to you... I can't remember what it's called exactly, but they don't sell weed - they simply charge for the service of growing your trees with everything in pre and post harvest taken care of.

If it sounds more viable to you, maybe do some searching on it.

I really wouldn't want to run my personal grow away from me, but if I had to, I'd rather have it at a facility than a rented space.

  2. What ever happened to the competitions? lol I'd be willing to sponsor a prize for the prize pool??? @420SA
420sa put it on hold due to delayed results one of the months.

It went over into entries for another month, as well as the Cannabist sponsor issue, which led to some unforseen issues.

If I'm not mistaken, I think it stopped for just 1 month, and should be continuing this month... Just waiting on @420SA to get back to everyone with what's up.

I'm sure they'd appreciate the sponsor bro! Mad Respect.

  3.
    So, i have 2 questions:
    1. Could the lighting issue during load shedding going to be a big problem if i dont have easy access to the place? I really dont wanna drive there every time theres a power cut.. Is there an easy solution to this that someone recommends?
    2. What do you guys think about this idea? What would you do in my situation? Am i wasting money and should i rather just buy? Less stress etc .
Im really caught in two minds so would appreciate any opinions from seasoned growers on whether you guys think this is a good idea, or whether this is probably going to be problematic, not ideal and stressfull?

Added: The main reason i started growing was to save some cash by growing my own.. but since i attempted my first grow that i had to shut down, i have grown a bit of an appreciation for this hobby . I wish i could smoke the fruits of my first grow so i would know if it was worth it to go out of my way like this to grow my own, or if i would be better off just buying any random stuff off the street. Unfortunately if i buy, then i dont buy inddor as i smoke alot and will end up spending a fortune on top qulaity bud from dealers... so i just buy the cheaper stuff usually and quality is up and down..

    What's up brother man...

    Okay, here are my responses;

    1) Digital timers bro... Set it and forget it.
Whenever the power trips, it will be for 2 hours at a time. The backup battery in the timer will last 24hrs in order to keep the timings.

The only time this could cause a real problem is if you're growing photos and the 2 hours of shedding is at the end and beginning of the light cycle - essentially shortening 18 hours to 14 hours of light.

Some Sativa strains flower with a bit more than 12 hours of light so I would be careful about what strains I select for this process if you go through with it.

Whatever you want to turn on or off every day, use a timer so you don't have to be there all the time.

When I experience load shedding, I do nothing bro - mainly because I can't do anything... I just let my trees sit in the dark in their environments until the lights come back on. My extraction and everything shuts off.

I don't think load shedding is going to cause you much issues, just slightly smaller yield if its severely affecting your light hours.

    ...........
    2) I think the plan is a bit much because of renting a new space, but I do understand, if you can't grow at home - sometimes it's just simple as that.

This does mean, however, the landlord now knows where your grow is going to be... And that's kinda sensitive info.

So taking that into consideration, I say your plan is viable. It would just be slightly more stressful because your plants and equipment will be on someone else's property and you won't be there all the time.

I wouldn't advise you to start buying again either, it's way too expensive bro. A plan can be made, don't lose hope.

Home grown indoor is amazing if you do it right, dry slowly, and cure for 3 weeks minimum... Its better than anything I've bought and cost me a fraction per gram compared to street prices.

    ..................
The idea of running your grow at someone else's place isn't bad at all, I would be interested in helping you out honestly - to the best of my ability.
We can talk more in the PMs about that though if you want.

  4. Whichever medium chosen the grower (not just newbs) should always educate themselves as best possible, be diligent with your grow and try to think ahead.
A lot of the time when you see a issue its prob something that happened a week ago :-rolled

    Gold

If you know how to treat your medium, you shouldn't experience any issues.

For instance, a new Grower may want to monitor everything, and be comfortable choosing coco and watering every day - but another new Grower may not be able to water every day...

It's just 1 example but I'm sure people can understand the gist of what I'm trying to say.

If the person takes the time to learn about what they want to use, any medium is beginner friendly... With the exception of hydroponics being a bit more advanced I feel.

  5. All in all, even though coco will teach you exactly what's going into your plant, etc... IMO soil is more beginner friendly and far more forgiving if you forget something or get something slightly off - I'll always suggest it to newbies.

There are a number of reasons for this but I'm typing this on my phone with the few minutes I have, lol. Just wanted to drop in my 2c.

  6. Thanks for the explanation. So I ordered in May which was (to me) "post hard lockdown"...so maybe they resolved their issues? I don't know...not good business regardless based on that feedback, but I had a really good experience.
No problem man... Yeah I get you... A lot of people ordered and had effortless experiences in getting their seeds and stuff, but once Cannabist started falling behind and not responding to customers, it was game over.

I, myself, had a delayed order with Cannabist when I recieved my prize for SOTM on 420sa, it took a couple weeks to get to me when people have been saying that Cannabist used to deliver in a few days - after I got my stuff, the complaints started rolling in about customers not receiving orders at all, or really late... I guess I had to get my stuff because it was a sponsored prize.

  7. What have I missed here?

I order from them back in May (albeit it from their local seed site buyseeds.co.za) and even spoke on Whatsapp to someone. They helped me by supplying a variety of pics of options. I ended up ordering some others, and then even got a bunch of seeds for free. Order came promptly in less than 48 hours, service was great and attentive. No issues whatsoever.
Has it gone to shite since? Why? I was looking forward to ordering again.
    Hey man... Well, to sum it up;

There was a backlog of orders when Lockdown started, and a severe lack of customer service didn't help the situation any bit. Cannabist ultimately stopped replying everyone that's ordered before or placed a new order, with some of the older orders taking 2 months to reach their destination - if they did at all.

  8. @TheUltimateNoob not sure if you checked the 420 infusion evening they do every now and then in Bellair.
    https://www.biltongandbudz.co.za/event/420-infusion-evening-roaring-20s-edition/
I haven't managed to attend one yet, but hoping to catch the next one.
Very nice... Haven't heard of it but definitely keen on the next one now that I know.

Would be interested in cooperating with the organisers as well.

  9. I wouldn’t be bleak with that result bud. What your final pot size bro?
Yeah I'm not too bummed about it, I'm just disappointed it wasn't more because I got at least another 8 weeks before I can smoke my next harvest

@TheUltimateNoob thank you for that heads up bro. I will stick to the stakes then.

How's your other projects coming along? You still gonna try the main cola run?

hey man, sorry for the late reply... i am going to try it, just not now... my tree ended up topping herself and threw my training plan out the tent so I'm trying to figure out what i want to do

  11. So this little tree... I gave her the first topping when she needed it, and let her grow out a bit.

    IMG_20200812_202317.thumb.jpg.9a61c168bfb5064143befee541fd1add.jpg

One side grew fine but the other just split into 2 by itself.

    I let her grow out untouched because I just was being a bit lazy and I decided that I wanted more colas this run, not just a nice mainline. Here's what she looks like right now;

The cure will be done in about 5 days so I'll get some nice bud shots for you guys then.

  12. Yooooo

Guys, life happened, been really busy lately and haven't updated anything.

Anyway, I weighed all the dry buds in, came in at 125g total.

A bit disappointed but I know what happened.

Got something else in the tent (another Inzane)

Will update now with a short story and some pics.

  13. @TheUltimateNoob very true man. So for the next round I will also more actively adjust the stakes and soft training wire like you mentioned. I will  also make more use of the training loops in my fabric pots.
I also noticed on another thread that you use a skewer scaffolding manoeuvre to flatten the canopy. That might help to ensure more tie down points and less probability for the stakes being pulled out?

The scaffolding helped a lot, but it was much more tedious to get right honestly... And the colas didn't really support themselves like they did with my nebula mainline because the scaffolding base created a much smaller square in which the training took place as compared to the stakes in the ground

  14. @afternoon blazer yo man. Happy to give an update.
I ran the full flux mainline on 2 ladies but due to insane growth of one lady I had to flip to flower earlier than I thought. Today is the end of week 3 since the flip to flower.
I will also be able to tie down a bit better for a more broader and even canopy spread next time round. This is my 1st indoor grow so I learnt a lot through the process. The ladies grow so vigorously that they will yank stakes from the ground in order to grow vertical again, so a proper tie down without damaging the stem is crucial for the nice horizontal mainline. I will also try the Nugbuckets mainline for the next run as I now have better lighting.

Lovely stuff they veg like crazy with the toppings, and I know exactly what you mean - my trees rip all the training stakes out of the ground, I reposition them every week.

  15. Weekly update pics. Switching to 12/12 tomorrow morning.

Nice progress... Just wanted to add, that ufo light can be much, much closer to your trees in flower.

I had my ufo literally less that 20cm above the tops in my microgrow and never burnt anything.

So try to find a sweet spot with height and coverage.

  16. Good day.
    Just looking dor any advise.
See picture 2 July (plants was few weeks old).
See second pictures taken today 13 August.

That growth ok for 6 weeks later?

    Currently running 18/6.
    • One Quantum Board ... I know I need another one.
    Using no fan or heater.

When do I need to switch to flower? 12/12?

Can someone perhaps advise me if the last picture resembles a female? Or still to early to tell?

The reason why the plants sizes differ (trying different stuff out).

Any advice will be much appreciated.

    Waddup bro..
Okay, I'm sure everyone has a lot of advice for you, but first let's work on what you need to know.

For 6 weeks, I would say that's just below average size for an untrained tree... Could've been bigger with more light, don't beat yourself up over it, other things make a difference as well.

As to whether they're female, take pics of the to-be bud site, not where the fan leaf meets the main stem... We need to look for pistils or sacs at this point, not really preflowers - since they're 6 weeks old, they're most likely mature already.

If those were mine, I would consider topping them once, using some LST, then veg for another week or slightly more and initiate flowering after that.
Reason being to control height and get more than 3 main colas from 3 trees.

  17. A few problems I have with it.
Those penalties are ridiculous. They are still quite happy to criminalize people for a plant.
The fact that they want to regulate and prescribe what my privacy should look like....then it's not privacy anymore.
Long story short. There is still a lot of activism ahead of us.
I agree... While it's a step in the right direction, it's in the direction they want it to go.

I haven't gotten a chance to read the entire bill yet but yes, the penalties are extremely severe...
I guess they're trying their best to steer people away from producing on a large scale and selling it, or at least trying to minimize the profit you could make.

Anyone could pin you for being a dealer and then tell the cops you're growing a lot of indoor and put together a compelling argument, or that you have over a kg of weed stored away and they think you're doing some shit.

Even if you could prove you aren't dealing or that there's no intent, the inconvenience of having the cops investigate or having to get yourself out of the situation will be a shit show.

It's easy to cook up a story and I've had it happen to me before, almost spent a few years behind bars but I had my story straight and thankfully the cop actually listened to my story.

There's still a disregard for actual "privacy" due to the fact that they're trying to control what we do at home - which is bloody ridiculous - but I'm also grateful that we can't just get in shit for having more weed than we could smoke in like a week just stored at home.

I have more thoughts on it, but they're just scrambled right now. Will have to read through it properly for my own knowledge and so I can safely argue if anyone's tryna accuse me of doing anything illegal.
