  1. If I can explain it to you, I think I'll be alright with the police. Especially if it's, y'know.. the law.
Edit: I mean isn't that exactly why we want this legislation? There aren't any ifs or whats when it comes to the law. If the law says that a dwelling is any part of a residence, and that each dwelling can apply the legal limit of cannabis cultivated, then that is that.
But who knows, maybe you're Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and you want to take my zol.
I get you bro... I mean if I'm paying rent for a room every month, I'd expect to be able to possess my legal limit as that's my dwelling. Its a fair argument I feel

  2. Two immature cannabis plants are equal to one cannabis plant. So you as a singleton are allowed 4 flowering cannabis plants. Therefore you are allowed 8 immature cannabis plants and must then cull 4 of them before they start flowering fully.
This means that the drafters understand the concept of selecting cannabis plants whether to isolate males/females or for basic pheno hunting.
They set it up just well enough to allow for a nice perpetual cycle for 1 person.

Yes this would be a perfect addition to your thread, @TheUltimateNoob 👌

It's a great use of COB tech which usually is not very good with light spread on it's own.

Hopefully the bro is keen to share.

Cobs still have some big potential if they're spaced and placed correctly... When I upgrade in the near future, I plan to take apart my COB fixture and make something a bit more efficient at achieving an even coverage.

  4. So far, I'll say this.

These units just keep performing without breaking a sweat.

I want to run a full grow from seed to harvest with it just to see... over 1gpw is easily achievable here.

I need to get it in that box so i can squeeze every bit out of it.

Ok thanks bro, I will have a look tonight or tomorrow and see what I can do. So basically I should just tie down the main stem for now and then wait for the other branches to grow 3-4 nodes right? ? emoji120.pngemoji109.png

yeah pretty much... you'll start to get a feel for when you should start tying them down

  6. Hi, I ordered some seeds from Cannabist.co.za on 22 June 2020. Made the payment and received order number.

I have written 4 emails to them to find out what is the delay. I have not received a single reply.

Has anyone had any similar experiences with Cannabist.co.za?

I understand due to covid-19 there's going to be some issues, but not responding to a customers emails.....

I have tried most of the seedbanks in south africa and must say never had any problems with other seed banks.

Please let me know what you think

    Thanks

Bro... There has been many a thread started for this very reason.

Unfortunately no one can get hold of Cannabist anymore to get any feedback on orders and he has been removed from the 420sa forum as a vendor.

At this point, I would sadly suggest that you cut your losses, and try sourcing some seeds from@Totemic or have a look at our best local seedbank thread - members are posting their experiences all the time.

A quick search for threads on 420sa about Cannabist would've given you the info you need as the only threads you'll find going a month or 2 back are of customers complaining about the lack of communication and customer service. Its just a shame.

Many of our members have gone through what you're going through and have lost faith in trying to contact Cannabist on any platform.

I, for one, was on his side and even I saw that it was becoming ridiculous. I now advise people to rather stay away.

It is possible for him to right his wrongs and reinvent his brand or whatever, but it's not gonna happen any time soon by how things have been looking.

Edit: Please note 420sa is in no way associated with Cannabist. He simply possessed a vendors license for this site and it was not renewed once it expired. We did have a platform for customers to engage with him but that too faded to radio silence.

  7. @StickyD420 thanks
yeah been very worried about the soil being too wet.

is there a thread that explains how to top a plant properly? And how often
    Okay, here we go.

For topping your tree, it really depends on how your tree is growing.

My first topping is generally done around day 21 of the trees life - at this stage it has the 5th or 6th node just separating from the last.

It can be done earlier, but I try to look for when the growth of the tree is accelerating and time this with the topping so it's not always on day 21. I do this to take advantage of the natural growth spurt in hopes to aid the healing... And it works, my trees are always parked back up and growing in a few hours after being topped.

When topping, after choosing which node you want to top the tree at, cut the stem between the nodes about 2/3rds of the way up - leaving a nice chunk of stem sticking up in the middle.
This is done to provide support for the lateral branches once they pick up some weight and will prevent the main stem from splitting.

After the first topping, the newer growth should be ready for another topping in about 1-2 weeks.

You can repeat this as long as you like, to get however many colas you desire - just keep it manageable.

Here's a link to a guide on RQS if you need some visual aids, and they do mention some other stuff as well.

  8. Ay! Sick cap man! Iv always been one for caps. I'll support a brother!
Guessing tees and hoodies in the line up too?
    Thanks bro! Appreciate it
Yeah hoodies and tees will eventually find their way onto the site, it's just that I don't want low quality materials so I'll just have to spend some time looking for some nice ones. Then once I start seeing some turnover I'll reinvest in better clothing items

  9. As someone who knows a little bit about the law and property leasing agreements, I can already see loopholes unless they have been accounted for.
They will need to define "household", otherwise you can just "sign a lease" of one room in your house to a friend and boom. Your limits have doubled. Sign another lease and boom. Your limit has tripled.
We need to have another members only subforum to discuss all our schemes, there's some real gold in these threads this is some of it.

  10. I wish I had more to compare... I'm gonna keep coming back here after each harvest to upload my numbers and compare them to previous runs.

Now that I think of it, I'll do some calculations and check how efficient my microgrow ran with the Chinese Blurple. I got around 0.85gpw if I remember correctly, just need to go back and check the rest of the numbers.

  11. Hey there bud.. Will these twist ties do the job, or should I try to get the ones that are labeled as 'soft'
Also, you mentioned that the side branches are too small and that I should wait for 3-4 nodes. Not sure exactly what you mean by that lol. That main stem has about 5 nodes.. Are there some other nodes I should be looking at?

Those are the ties I use bro.

Okay so first, sorry for the ambiguity.

The first time you're going to LST, you would be tying the main stem over to expose the lower branches... This is where the tree should be like 5 or 6 nodes tall so that it has enough stem to actually bend over and by this time the main stem will have some nice structure to it but still be able to be manipulated.

When you're planning to LST a branch, my suggestion would be for you to wait for the branch develop 3 or 4 nodes off the main stem and then tie it down so that you'll be able to cover some decent area and also ensure there is enough internodal spacing between the new growth tips on the branch for your new lateral branches to spring up with room to grow.

I was just referring the the main stem nodes and the side branch nodes separately.

Effective LST would be tying down the main stem, letting the side branches grow out and then tying those down again...

Repeat the cycle until you're happy with how big of a footprint your tree has (keeping in mind the growth spurt it will go through in flower)

Then once you flower the tree, majority of the lateral branches that came up during and after all the LST will all sort of become main colas, and end up more uniform.

  12. Very nice guys!

I have built some LED strips and many QB's
I prefer to run active cooling with my QB's now as the temps end up around ambient room temp, so faaar cooler than passive heatsinks.
Also can work out cheaper depending on where you source it all from.

Unfortunately no pics at the moment.
Thanks bro... Which do you prefer? Boards or strips?

I'm all for active cooling with some silent 12V pc fans... It just makes sense... 6w more to bring the temps of the heatsink down by like 10 or 15°C? Any day

  13. ...been to the beach, breaking lockdown regulations .
That thing actually works. It's a pain to get a picture but it works. Here's a close up picture of the last inzane plant I grew (Never had trichome production like this before). In the longrun I want to invest in something proper, so I follow along.

That shot looks pretty nice man, for real
Just zoom in a little with your phone and tap the screen so it auto adjusts focus and exposure, then take another shot.

There are handheld digital microscopes that you can hook up to your laptop, PC or mac via USB and have a look at your buds in some real clear HD quality video feed.
They are generally above 500 online on the cheap sites though, so you may have to do some looking but the slightly more expensive full HD ones are worth the money IMO.

I want one but I don't want to buy it for that reason only.

  14. Things are moving along nicely I would say - with regards to cannabis in ZA. The way I see it, those limitations and rules are basically a small step towards regulation, which means it's a step in the right direction.

8 flowering trees for a home Grower means you could set up a decent perpetual... But you just might need more houses to keep that 1kg in each

Thanks for the update guys. Exciting news really. Weren't some of you just chatting about trading clones and genetics? This would make it a whole lot easier.
