Shouldn't it go off when you join the dimmer wires? Open is Max.. closed is off.. as I understand.

sort of, open circuit ie infinity ohms is full current, but if you short the wires, nothing happens - it needs a PoTeNtOmEtEr with a specific range of ohms to operate the dimming function 😝

    i think its 100 ohms

  2. i have had a bit of issue with the dimmer unit as well, but can confirm that the LED panel, and the Power supply are absolute quality and will likely outlive the rest of your electronics haha.

its just the knobby dimmer that seems to give issues

Can't wait! I've been just growing the ZxP for a long while.

Kept the extractor the same, added the two new box fans on the ceiling so that air is always circulating the tops and bottom of the plants as they push air down and then lastly the dehumidifier.

i rate the dehumidifier will play the biggest role

    nice work man

I would give those plants a douse of Efekto Eco Insect Control and remove the most affected bottom leaves. I've tried white knuckling through thrips and it just didn't end up well. I now treat all my veg plants once they are mature with a douse of Efekto to keep the common pests away.

I second this - i had a thrips issue last night - i sprayed the Efecto insect control, and today i no longer have a thrips issue

full at last after putting the Gorilla Zkittlez into their trays

nice man! i also have a gorilla Zkittlez plant, it produces some nice large nugs and has a amazing cereal milk\ Blueberry berry scent to it.

its a real pity about the bud rot man, what steps have you taken to improve that? bigger extractor? and dehumidifier you said... i think?

Quick smoke report for 11 and 12

    11 :

Smells fantastic. Pineapple and fuel. Decent bag appeal with some good trich coverage. Taste is not quite there though and the smoke is harsh. It is very strong though, so that might account for the harsh taste. The high comes on almost immediately and it is a face ripper. Not my cup of tea though, as the high has an edge to it. Also, it only lasts about 45 to 60min. For me, this is not a keeper although I'm sure there will be guys who will love it just because of the crazy freight train high.

    12 :

Smell is creamy sour fruit with a hint of fuel. Bag appeal is excellent. Large calyxes covered in resin. Taste is great as well, and the smoke is smooth. Tastes like more. High is like the smoke. Smooooth! Come on slowly but there is depth to the high. Has a nice narcotic stone. This is my kind of high. Helps you unwind after a long day. You can still focus on tasks, but once you get up and walk around you realise just how stoned you actually are. Not nearly as strong as no.11 but this one is definitely a potential keeper. It yields well at 85g for one plant. Slightly better than no.11 which was 80g

sounds and looks promising!! i have popped 4 of these beans along with @PsyCLown so we are hoping to find something similar

  7. Well bro beans - you have literally come to the right place, this community has been turning Noobs into novices into pros!!

stick around and ask all the questions you need to my man, being part of the community also opens up doors to some quality strains and amazing knowledge sharing.

  8. Where on the plant are you taking cuts from?

In general, stems that are still soft and green are very hard to Clone, much harder than the woodier less fragile stems which in my experience is pretty much a sure thing.

Sounds like you need to disinfect your cutting trays properly... Buy new ones if you can afford it, get some hydrogen peroxide and disinfect the Clone Dome and all your tools.. I have found that letting the stems sit in a 3% h202 solution for a few min while you are taking all the cuttings helps dramatically with that rot you speak of.

Avoid spraying any nutrients on the leaves or into the tray, keep the rooter plug, rockwool, jiffies, moist at all times and don't let them dry out.

I have had the best success with an Rh of 90%... 100% seems to encourage mold spores to germinate and funky shit happens.

Make sure you are taking cuts near a node and not in the middle of the stem, through a node is also good.

Try not touch the cuttings again once they are in the Dome, place them and leave them be, just make sure there is moisture in the tray.

I have had success with no rooting hormone, and also success with rooting hormone... The gell worked well, but so do powders.... But so does nothing haha..

Keep the cutting size consistent at whatever you decide, and make sure they get a low intensity light... Cuttings outside is crazy in any weather as they will get dry very fast or transpire like mad and dry up if the sun hits them for too long.

The less you open the Dome, the less contaminants can get in, and if you disinfect properly when you are putting the cuts in the tent, then you should have a good success rate... And if cuts are failing to such a large degree, maybe try taking even more cuts!! Double to triple what you need, so that even in a disaster you should still get enough cuts out

Hey CreX thanks for your advice re Chelated Calcium. I got some and have started using it.

If you have a pen and can check ppm or EC, then you can follow the feed schedule and see how it goes..

You could start at 50%… because your GHE is already the soft water type and has some extra calcuim.

And then taper it up or down accordingly🔥🔥

  10. I get plants like this when my pots don't have enough breathing space under the pots...

What pots is he using? If fabric... Then I retract my analysis... If plastic, get those bitches raised so they can breathe under their feet🔥

Even if weed is legalized, there is a chance the "black market" will still exist and people will still be arrested.

I'm not against the movement to legalization and I'm not really for it either. But the way I see it there is no way they will legalize it for rec use without making only a limited amount licenses available, and then proceed to over "regulate" the market and tax the shit out of everyone involved from the growers to the end user. This is just my opinion but if it ever happens, I'm sticking with the small craft growers and my own homegrown.

the black market will never crash, i would love the experience of buying weed legally, but know that if i want to smoke the finest herb, straight to my dealer i go

  12. i only started my Grow Affair when i moved to JHB in 2012, before then i was a Toti boy and only knew the cheap kak from the corner.

when i arrived up here, even the cheap kak was crazy amazing to what i was used to, which struck me as weird because everyone called my R10 banky kak and often declined to smoke from it.

same friends also showed me the ways or finding better dealers until my first taste of some quality maryjane...

10 years ago i had fokkal to my name and paying R180 for a g was a christmas special kind of smoke. then i decided to give growing a go and get my own dank for cheaper.

its honestly taken me 8 years to be able to get to the level of growing  that i wanted to be at on day one of my first seed hahaha and another 2 years to be consistent with my output...

10 years and whole lot of experiments and trial and error and a buttload of cash for new things - i seriously cant wait for the next ten years and a reflection for where i am at then.

CreX what alchemy is this? emoji6.png
I’m looking up Ca EDTA and this is what I get, looks like it’s for human consumption?
    3b5a5d36824836129f237bf0073757d7.jpg

    Is this the right stuff?
    Then what’s Spliff 1 and Spliff 2?
    And Duo?

    Thanks CreX.

LOL might be similar - or even identical , but heres the right stuff

    https://hydroponic.co.za/hydroponics/green-house-powder-feeding-calcium/

and the Spliff 1-3 and Duo are the nutrient line i am using from Haifa, its not a product line they advertise, so you can call in and ask if you are keen haha - but i would stick with your GHE, its much easier to use

and charge your phone oke! its about to vrek! 😛

CreX how do you feed Epsom Salts, how much and how frequently?
Mostly it seems to be used as a foliar feed during veg, not much info out there on how to apply it in a reservoir.
I also couldn’t find out when to add it into the mix, before or after the GHE nutes?, before or after pH’ing?
Typically if I want to add CalMag, Silica, and say H2O2, I run as follows:

    1. Silica 8ml per 20l bucket;
    2. Mix and stand for 1hr
    3. Calamag low dose 2g granular/20l
    4. Micro (all GHE at 70-80% if I use CalMag and Silica)
    5. Gro
    6. Bloom
    7. Ph down (over 2ml when using Silica!) to achieve pH btwn 5.7 and 6.0
    8. Dilute H2O2 3% at 1ml/l or Biodyne 401

So if I want to feed Epsom Salts instead of say Si and CalMag (as I’m led to believe in Flower the plants no longer require extra Calcium) where in the mix and at what quantities?

I’m using food grade Epsom salts in fine granular form.

    Thanks

First! where did you hear that plants dont need calcuim in flower? its vital that they get their calcuim in flower mate!!

my feed program is the same as yours mostly though.

    1. Silica 8ml per 40L bucket;
    2. Mix and stand for 60 seconds
    3. Ca EDTA - 3g per 40L
    4. Epsom Salts - 3g per 40L
    5. Spliff 1 if veg or spliff 2&3 for flower - 20g per 40L
    6. Duo - 5g
    7. Ph down - 2ml per 40L

so i have no issue adding epsom in that value, its about a flat teaspoon ..maybe a bit raised.

you can go the @iGrowDagga route and foliar epsom every day which also seems to work quite well.

  15. ay man!! looking swell there!

your methods are right man - typically i dont even start checking trichomes before 80-90% of the pistols have gone brown, and then its usually a week or 2 after that  when the bud becomes mature.

i know its hard, but try get some close up views of the buds, not the trichomes on the leaves, and see if you can tell what stage youre in.

the bud looks like it will be good though man, might not be the best smoke of your life - but its a far cry from the worst youve likely smoked so good job man!!

Sugar leaves are going amber, I was trying to get it across that I checked the bud itself and not the leaves 😂. Obviously a lot more on the leaves than the bud itself.

got you... okay cool - then maybe it is time after all

anything more than 20% amber will be quite sedative
