Sorted the humidity, without having to buy a humidifier. Lifted the light about half a ruler length and replaced the one large bowl of water in the corner of the tent to two smaller containers at the same level as the plants. Also keeping one vent open for now. Humidity is stable at 35%. Humidity is showing more in the pics because I just used foliar spray

Cripple plant is doing well. Daily foliar spray with very light nutes and Kelpak. New leaf growth continues and roots are now much more visible at the bottom of the net pot. Hoping to have the roots hit the water by the end of this week

Healthy plant doing the most. Fast leaf growth and roots continue developing at a fast pace since hitting the water

Added about a teaspoon of epson salts to each res. PPM is sitting at 500 for both. Seedling strength nutes in the res, vegetative stage nutes in the premix nute bottle I use to refill the res's, so the nutes will rise as I replace more water in the res's.

Great recovery on the cripple. Roots have touched the res water and rapid growth is expected from here on out.

Big sister also coming along nicely, but I think the heat is getting to her a little bit. Seeing some signs of heat stress and relative humidity is still a little bit low. Replaced the 250W MH with the 400W MH to test conditions and it did get a little toasty at first. Max temp reached was 35C, although res temp has so far never broken 26C which is good. I've raised the light up a touch and put my exhaust system from low to medium power. Waiting for the light to come on tonight to see how the temps fare. If temps don't keep below 30C I may just switch back to 250W MH.

Both plants looking much better tonight.

Temp and humidity stabilising at 32C and 18% respectively. 400W MH bulb is sitting at about 20 inches away from the plants. They seem pretty happy so I'm just going to leave things as they are as long as they keep looking good.

I have a feeling I am able to get away with the lower humidity because of the DWC setup. The plants have such direct access to water and nutrients that I think they can manage without optimal humidity levels. Wouldn't mind some rain in general though, it's fokoff dry in my area.

The humidity will rise as the plants get bigger anyways, so I'm not too phased that it will have any negative impact.

Switched back to 250W MH. After doing a cycle with the 400W my system isn't enough to keep temps at a comfortable level for the plants.

I think I may need a small intake fan, such as a 6 inch duct fan to help pull fresh air into the tent to help keep temps down. Would possibly also help with the negative pressure and humidity.

Going to experiment again with the 400W MH after I get the intake fan and once the first rain hits in my area. It is hot my dudes.

Pruned the healthy lady and topped to her third node. Going to continue with LST in a few days as the two main nodes start to recover and grow from the stress of the pruning.

The smaller lady is pushing on root development heavily. Looking healthy and just carrying on at a decent pace.

Smooth sailing at the moment.

Some pitter-patter rain in the area has raised the general humidity quite nicely, sitting above 40% when it's usually at this time below 20%. Ladies look super good.

Decided to top the little sister and begin LST on the big sister.

20191026_183122.thumb.jpg.51b8e187fec7e4522bc459ff06b5c033.jpg 20191026_183001.thumb.jpg.143c604d53eca8df986a488fc39319d4.jpg

An interesting difference between the two plants apart from their size are their own root developments. The little sister sprouted multiple root sites under the net pot where the bigger sister grew a stem from the one small root to the surface of the water and is the site for it's main root development.

Went to the Transkei for a few days and left the ladies alone for a bit. Got back to find great growth on both ladies.

Doing LST on the bigger of the two and once they are both on an equal level in height I am going to put up a DIY scrog net and grow out as much of the 80cm³ space as possible using the 4 mainlines I have created between the 2 plants.

Put up a DIY scrog net I made with rope and cable ties. It also gives me a nice indication of where I am aiming for the canopy to be.

Otherwise, still smooth sailing. Growth is continous and healthy. The two plants are looking pretty level, I want them to hit and spread on the net at the same time.

Looking good!

Those plants need to really grow quite a bit before they reach the net😜

Im not sure you have taken into consideration the stretch?

How I scrog is, I put the scrog near the current canopy, maybe a bit higher if the plants are small, then I let the plant grow through the net, and every few days, I pull it under the net and let it grow up again.... Always maintaining the canopy all the way through veg.

Then I flip and let the plants do their thing. You must not do too much training in bloom! Trust in your veg and your scrog😜

1 hour ago, Ill_Evan said:

I can adjust the net and the height of the light at will @PsyCLown👽 will adjust as necessary.

@CreX might just lower the net a bit after a bit more spread after a few days. I have considered the flowering stretch. The timing in general with a scrog net is new to me, so I'm playing it as I go.

Nice! As long as you have room to raise it. It looked as if it was already at the top of the tent.

Been thinking what @CreX mentioned about trusting in the scrog. Also @CleanGreen I agree I might run into space issues if I don't plan ahead.

I decided to then lower the scrog and let the plants grow into them from now on. I also did a very light defoliation on some of the bigger fan leaves that were touching the cooler boxes and completely in shade.

@PsyCLown I took a pic to show the space I still have above the light, we'll call that the "just-in-case-space" 😝

Now you're cooking with gas papi!!

That looks like a winner!

Do you have the 250w in there?

If so, I had awesome results with the bulb surface 30cm away from the canopy!

Keep an eye on the res as the ladies will start to driiiiiink!!!

A very exciting update!

With the aide of our very own @PsyCLown I was provided with a DIY quantum board kit consisting of two QB288's capable of 240W of light goodness. A shout out to @CreX who also assisted me in troubleshooting the setup when I ran into some initial issues with the driver.

Here is how the new setup looks:

Now for the plants. Just a quick photo update should suffice. Starting to fill up the scrog net consistently. Going to run the QB at 100W for now while I am still in veg and testing the setup.

Ah man, just can't catch a day now without doing something with the plants 😄

Growth is so rapid I have to check daily to tuck new growth under the scrog net to keep it nice and level. It will be super worth it when the whole scrog is filled nicely and evenly :-meditate

Bumped up the watts to 120W and keeping it just about 40cm above the canopy

Also did a defoliation of the large fan leaves tonight

Looking good man, nice clean setup DWC is the way to go!... interested to see the scrog working out so early, my girls need some but not figured out a good way.

Below clones are 40 days old, like you see space is tight and four more weeks and I HAVE to move them to the bigger flowering space.

I've followed your grows since you started on the forum @CleanGreen 🤙 always pushing your space's limits and once growing past your lights 😄 if anyone has learnt about space management it is you sir!

I am hoping with the scrog I can avoid a miniature cannabis botanical garden (although it does sound kinda nice...)

I'll be happy with another tent to do perpetual grows with one in veg and the other in flower, but alas, we must wait for that day 🧙‍♂️

@Ill_Evan Thanks bud, haha last night my girls destroyed my scrog system...do I wait till they done flowering or fix it now, there is always a learning curve. Re the tent, why not just get some panda plastic, ive learned your plants dont need to be 100% in the dark. Lighting get some cheap led flood light and use them to veg and use your QB for flowering.
