  1. I hope the darkness ripens her up a bit more for you, let us know how she turns out and if the trichs became more amber?

That big bud plant is one bushy bush hahah I know trimming and cutting back isn't really an issue when it comes to autos, but I'm sure removing the larf from the inside of the plant will help her direct more energy and all the good stuff to the tops, will also help with airflow if that's ever a problem.

As I have never grown autos, I really can't say what to expect with the harvest, but just by looking at the pic I would have to guess somewhere around the 50g mark. Would love to see the buds when they're ready!

  2. Hey bud!

Before getting into it, I dig the look and structure of that plant, I also always have a bagseed growing, that being said I have to advise you to not invest too much in that plant, sorry man! Bag seed is never the same strain as what was in the bag, not even with good weed, that's the hardest thing we have to accept as growers hahah. So I guess there's your first answer, and even if you had flowers on her even if you harvested the bud, telling the strain is basically impossible. It's a hybrid, forsure. The only way of telling the sex is waiting till it flowers. As soon as they flower either on the day or the next day you'll be able to see the sex.

  3. Nice man, well done on that auto, looks like it's gona be a pretty big yield then?

Hahah I hate procrastinating, but still it happens so often! If it's a straight indica and I know I don't have a lot to do I won't mind, but for the most part I don't enjoy not getting things done.

About the dark period, I've done it like a hand full of times with outdoor plants, starting with a plant my buddy claimed as it was still growing under my care and came harvest time he almost insisted I did it with his plant. I couldn't say if it's really true as this is just info given to me, but what I can say is it will not do any harm at all. What I've heard is that it kickstarts the drying process and is a bit of a stress factor, you see as soon as we cut them down they should be hung in darkness, the reason for that is that some sugars and starches and things are more active and mobile in the plant during light periods, so the low temps and darkness will mimic the winter being in full motion, to get them to flower we shorten the day and prolong the light cycle mimicing what happens with the season in nature, so giving only darkness will almost be like forcing her to "finish" quiker, thinking theres no more grow time for her, and also if you let her go in the dark all dry that will also obviously help with  getting her to "finish" what shes doing.

  4. Nice, only 12 day flush and she's looking like that? Is she an auto? What nutes did you use? If that was my plant I would be damn happy with it just like that, but that's just cause I don't prefer couch lock. Perhaps the trichs will go more amber after the chop? I've never seen it happen, but have heard of it. Also, put your plant through a 48h cool dark period, no light and low temps. Make sure her roots are dry at the point of placing her in the dark, don't check before the 48h is over.

  5. I'm trying to get my second setup together, was gona buy a small tent for vegging and all that, but someone asked me why the hell I would get a tent smaller than the one I already have, so that stuck with me hahah now I'm trying to get everything bigger and upgraded, so the setup I have now will then be used only for veg, clone, seeds all the stuff that can happen under a 18/6 light cycle, might even pop a few autos in there. Then use the new setup for flower, sooo I don't wana take too many clones and all that then I have to spend money on caring for them, money I could've saved to buy everything I needed for a proper perpetual grow. From there will think about a 3rd small tent to keep a mother or two, but then I will need a bigger house!!!

  6. Wow hahah I see you like variety too! Nice, those plants look good, thanks for the pic! Makes me so much more excited about this cheese plant.

These are really my first seeds from international breeders, some time ago all on different occasions I grew two Royal queen seeds and a Barneys Farm seed, but it was given to me by a buddy and I just grew them in cheap soil outdoors with tap water and some seagrow. The smoke was still awesome, but those grows is not even something worth talking about these days with all the cannabis spesific producs available to us now!

Previous indoor grow was all clones and besides that have had many no name seeds float around and played around with some bag seed to gain the knowledge, but this is my first time checking the international breeders with intention to pick my favourite ones.

I'm excited to see how this all turns out!

  7. I'm very excited myself!

Hahah I know exactly what you mean by the cheese smell, I never understood the whole cheese thing except that it's also something with a strong funky smell, but with my blue cheese buds from the last grow curing now, everytime I burp the jars the smell I get makes me laugh, because there's no other way to describe it as cheesy. Got a sweet kinda funk that reminds you of the smell you get right before you put some kinda sweet soft white cheese in your mouth!

That's awesome, may I have a look see at that seedsman plant? Is this the first of their seeds for you or have you previous experience with them as breeders?

For training I usually just go with the garden wire and some paper binders along the brim of the pot, but I think the biggest mitake I made with the last grow was not scrogging! So definitly going that route this time, specially since it's such a cheap thing to incorporate and makes the world of a difference if you do it right!

  8. @SmokeyZero

    Hey bud,

I did actually get a few cuttings of all of them, but they went rogue. When I did a cut back there where a few branches that I just couldn't toss, no tops or proper clone sized branches, but some actually pulled through! I didn't have space or proper grow medium for them at the time so all the clones that made it ended up in my greenhouse, nameless with some generic soil mix, nothing special and all in small pots getting odd nutes. They're all in flower now, 3 plants turned out pretty good, but will only really be able to judge when I get to smoke the buds!

As for the new indoor grow, I made a whole new thread for that, here's the link,

  9. What's up Greg,

I hope this will help put your mind at ease. I dropped 4 seeds on 27 Feb, all into bleached jiffies soaked in distilled water, in a humidity dome under some nice strong CFLs and on a heat pad under a towel, humidity was between 90% and 95% and temps where 30 to 35°C. All took 1 day to break surface, except one. That one only broke surface 19 days later. In my notes I already declared that one a dud and replaced it, took another week or so for the cotyledons to open. I'll tell you that lady had me rolling around at night wondering what I can do, but all she needed was time... now I just have one extra plant!

Some seeds just take their time and one thing I have learnt from popping seeds is don't do anything funny, don't even try do things you think will be good for it if you're not sure it will help, most seeds or seedlings die because of over caring.

    Goodluck, bud!

  10. I have washed some buds, mostly outdoor. Gets suuuper windy where I am now and I have to say when washing the outdoor it made my bud look 10x better, couldn't even identify most of what was left in the water, smoke was cleaner and for the reason of not smoking all that other crap and I guess the feeling at the back of my head having seen all the shit that came off the bud, it all made the high much more pleasant.

I also notice that the water turns a pale green, now I am no expert, but does that not mean that some chlorophyll leached out? Which is what we want to accomplish by a slow dry anyway? I have heard that it also actually speeds up the drying process... I don't know if anyone has ever worked with wet/dry wood, like cutting down trees for fire wood. The way to get the wood to dry quiker is to wet it hahah actually laughed at this when I heard it, but it's actually a very simple explination not very scientific at all. Also this has to mean your drying conditions have to be up to par, hanging a wet plant or any plant for that matter in a humid environment would just mean you're deliberately trying to do something stupid.

I have also washed bud grown in a greenhouse in the same windy conditions and I would say there is about 80% less crap that comes off and my experience with washing indoor was not so good. Actually made the weed look worse and wasn't even necessary since nothing came off, luckily only washed 3/4 branches.

All in all, would say a wash is actually sometimes needed, not always. Depends on the grow. Don't think it should be a thing anyone should get used to, because in some cases it will cause more harm than good.

  11. Second grow with this setup, let's see how things turn out!
    Seeds dropped - 27 Feb
    1. Banana Hammock Fem - Ethos Genetics
    2. Cheese Fem - Seedsman
    3. Super Lemon Haze Fem - Green House Seeds
    4. Blueberry Fem - Dutch Passion
Another Blueberry seed from Dutch Passion was dropped on 10 March, because the Super Lemon Haze did not pop at first, the other 3 seeds popped up 2 days after dropping. So then I had Blueberry #2 pop up also 2 days after dropping and a week after on 16 March the Super Lemon Haze finally popped, never lost faith and 18 days after dropping she decided she's down to clown. So all and all 5 plants, but I have to choose between SLH and BB#2.
The three bigger plants are the ones that came up first and are already on their 3rd feed. The medium plant in the back in the smaller pot is the BB#2 and the small plant in the middle is the SLH slowly coming along. All started off in jiffie pellets in a humidity dome on a heat mat under some big CFLs. Took them out the humidity dome as soon as they where open and facing up, potted them into 5L pots once they had first set of true leaves. All into Freedom Farms Premium Classic with some Diatomaceous earth, Trichoderma and Mycorrizhea. The lockdown is causing me to have to start mixing my own soil, luckily I have all I need for a good batch on hand, but am going to run out soon and don't even want to think about it!! The mix is basic - fine compost from Double Grow, potting soil from Reliance, coco coir, perlite and vermiculite. Added quite a bit if Diatomaceous Earth because I don't trust the compost and potting soil and like always, Trichoderma and Mycorrizhea. This is the first I will actually be growinging in this soil, so will have to report on how it turns out, don't know what to expect and because of that I also decided to plant the first Blueberry in it (that's the one in the bigger plastic 10L pot in the back), because I have two of them and if anything goes wrong, I already have a replacement! I also have BioNeemand Ampelomyces that I do treatments with all through veg. Sometimes I use the Ampelo during early flower if I feel a threat, all plants even outdoor and edible plants, can be used within 3 weeks of harvest.

    Anyway, here they are..

  12. The taste of the buds still have to get there, only been about 2/3 weeks in the jars now, almost there, though.. The Elvis is knocking my socks off, fills up my lungs, smoke a bong and it feels like a breath of fresh air then you blow out and it feels like a fucking elephant sitting on your chest. I can imagine how it would be a nice plant for pressing! I've checked the Leafly info on it, thanks @Stinger96!  The Black Raspberry is by far the tastiest of them all, the buds are small and super hard and stick together like .... well something that really sticks together. The smell reminds me of putting all of the skittels in my mouth at once and the taste is the same when you smoke it, makes you sweat and salivate like you're sucking on something sour!

  13. Soooo, it's been about about 2 months since I've been on here and quite a bit has happened, thought I'd give you all a little update.

Before we get into it, I just wana say I hope all is well and making the best of this whole lockdown shit. I am busy with an agriculture project so am lucky enough to continue working during this time.

I have harvested the last grow and started another, need to buy a lot more equipment, but I have what I needed to kinda do a little perpetual thing. Built a little DIY veg space, that's not even worth talking about, dropped seeds and vegged for about 3 weeks before the first run was all finished up, so the day the tent was empty I did a whole hydrogen peroxide spray and a iso alcohol spray down and closed the tent and let it rest for a day while I cleaned everything else seperately, 2 days later moved the 3 week old plants over to the tent and off we go!

So here are the rough summeries of each of the plants from my previous grow and some photos (photos are just randoms from the last pics taken, they're probably not in order, and some bud shots)

    - all these where clones from a buddy all grown in 20L material pots in Freedom Farms Premium Classic mix with the salt based nutes from hortishop, added microbes and the liquid vermicompost every now and then and molasses during flower, in a 1mx1m tent under a 360W LED

    1. Blue Cheese - 63g
Easy growing, easy to manipulate, large sized, strong plant with huge colas. Wanted to take over the whole tent, but was easy to pull it back and tie it down just the way I needed it to be.

    2. Super Silver Haze - 62g
Easy growing, also easy to manipulate because of strong vigorous growth and responded well to most manipulation and opened up the plant nicely with many big colas. This plant also gave some nice colours, looks more like a purple haze than a silver haze to me hahah.

    3. Black Raspberry - 45g
This plant gave me a little trouble, branches was all floppy and even though I tied it up it would flop open and when the buds got real heavy it flopped open so wide some of the branches tore and it never produces any proper colas. Other than that it produced some very very dank buds, probably the best buds from this whole grow in my opinion.

    4. Elvis - 46g
Fast growing, small, strong plant. I am not sure if it was just the buds or because there wasn't proper structure given to support the right branches, but this plant also flopped open, only more towards the end of her life, but could fix the problem easily. First plant to get harvested with a flower period of 8 weeks max including flush for 3... I have to say, for 8 weeks veg 8 weeks flower and done for 46g of this bud in a quater of a square meter space, I would think of keeping this one as a mother in future. It's like that weed you're really too ashamed to smoke, don't want it to finish, ever!! If anyone can tell me more about this strain I would really appreciate it, because I can't find much info on it?

  14. Thanks for the advice!! The only reason I asked where to get them is because I couldn't find them as easily as I hope, luckily I got 10 for only R300 online! Bovedas we get anywhere, I know all about those little humidity regulator packs, they just don't tell you the humidity. I would have to say that is the biggest reason at the moment, for me, why I'm asking for the one and not the other. We all cure differently and in those first few weeks of burping the jar I would like to monitor what is actually going on in there. I feel it's a little more reassuring. Once I pack them away for long term storage there would be no need to monitor it, by then I'll have just a boveda pack in there and take out the hygrometer and use it for the next few jars that are being burped. I'll never pack a hygrometer in a long term storage jar so wont need a 1000 of them.

  15. If you click on that link it will take you directly to the product with all the information, it's available at most nurseries. You'll even see a picture on the box a browning conifer. I've heard two things, the conifer likes acidy soil not a lot of compost and that can be a response of a kind of root damage, or it could be because of a humidity / airflow problem and if there's like morning frost or the conifer get's soaked with water too often and the water or moisture never escapes the inside branches and they basically die of suffocation or rather lack of needed fresh air, but it's not a mold or a insect.

  16. I see, luckily I am in week 6 of flower and so far no problems! I'll keep some gold dust on hand and try a grow or two with it, see what happens.

Haven't gotten to mixing my own soils yet, so will be using FF for a while still.

If you're saying calcium nitrate does not provide a charge balance, what form of calcium do I have to be looking for that does?

  17. Awesome, thanks man! I was hoping to find a shop that stock them, been looking for a while now and each time I get pointed at buying them online. Guess I'll just have to do it..

That's a pretty cool idea, securing the hygrometer on the lid of the jar. I'll maybe do one or two like that, but I love uniformity and got myself around 70 of the same jars and I don't even wana think about fixing them all up like that, but thanks anyway for the idea! Definitly will do atleast one like that hahah

  18. 17 hours ago, GreenBeans said:

@Naughty.Psychonaut 😂 No no, i meant to the plant. I think theres a discussion on rollitup about how using unbuffered MKP can cause PH issues.

I also want to get a good aact system going it just seems like a worthwhile investment. And it would just make more sense for me. I have been using seagro during veg and then when it comes to flower, I get confused because I dont know whay to do for nutrition that would be simple to use 😂. So I usually toss bone meal in and whatever i can find that i think will get the job done. Havent had any issues yet but i think i could get better results being able to brew flower specific teas and it might be cheaper in the long run than buying biobizz bloom.

    Thanks for the schedule 🙌

Hahahah! I see, yeah not buffering can cause damage.

Do you mean buffering the MKP or growing medium? I've heard of buffering coco coir with MKP and then also aqua buff that buffers water or nutrient solution in your reservoir for the guys using biiig automated watering systems.

I am growing in FF premium mix and didn't buffer anything at all.

No worries on that schedule bud, it's only a pleasure!
