  1. My last auto was a Blue Cheese from Nirvana Seeds and it also only started showing signs of flower 7 weeks in, was also a bit concerned but now after 13 weeks things are fine.

The timelines the seed banks give on their website for veg and flower of a auto is very optimistic and I found that mine is always off with about 2 to 4 weeks. I means my Blue Cheese Auto according to the website should be 9 to 10 weeks from seed to flower, I'm in week 13 and she still has some ripening up to do...

Nice, why no training on the Daiquari Lime?

Curious to see how the CBD Crack handles the topping.

Daiquiri Lime is my 'control', to do a proper compare I need to leave one lady completely alone to compare against the other two I'm fiddling with.

I know I'm already messing with the experiment by using three different strains, but let's not focus to much on that 😊

  3. 4 weeks and 4 days since germination, seeing some fantastic progress in the last week.

As per my plan I topped the CBD Crack and started bending the Fastberry, the bending I'm taking super slow as the stem seems very brittle. I'm doing the training with hooks I push into the ground, the hooks around the bottom of the stem I bend the last few cm horizontal to stabilize the stem and keep in in place.

CBD Crack, topped just above node 3:

  4. Thanks for the info @Stinger96. The problem is you usually harvest more than a 1 liter containers can take from one tree, I also like to have some variety on hand so there is a few more jars so you end up using more than just a couple, now imagine R700 x 5 or 6... And that is why I end up using console jars with a humidity pack thrown in... Would love to have 6 of those expensive ones though 😊

So far so good without heating. Average temps are 20 degrees daytime and 15 degrees nighttime and about 70% humidity 😉  Cloning took 10 days longer to root than summer but the vegging and flowering girls grow strong and fat.

Due to higher humidity my indica was taken over my powdery mildew so she ended up short flowering ( 4 weeks ) and turned it to oil.... not sure if this is safer to smoke?

Had similar issues with PM, tried the fat free milk / water spray method, but PM is systemic apparently so milk will only get you so far... Ended up getting some AQ SF Liquid from Jamie's Garden Shop in Somerset West, a parasitic fungicide that 'eats' Powdery Mildew and is apparently fine using throughout flower.

    Maybe something to look into...

  6. Hey AcidAlice, I'm also running 3 autos currently in my grow space. What I found was that you seriously cripple the growth of your seedlings with temps in the mid teens and with autos this is a very important part of their life cycle.

My temp swing was a bit heavy with evening temps touching 11 degrees, my autos currently just shy of 4 weeks look like my previous autos from 3 weeks... only time will tell if it is going to make a big difference in the end though.

    Good luck with the grow!

Isn't it quite risky to top on auto's?

Growth on the CBD seems a bit quicker than the others, so will hopefully recover and increase yield?

Yes definitely risky, but that's the whole point of the experiment, let's see what it does when I top it, if it works great, of not then hopefully someone learns from my mistake.

Had success with my Blue Cheese Auto by topping it, let's see if it was a fluke 😊

  8. Right so it's been just shy of 4 weeks and the girls are looking okay... Due to the cold and me not having a heater for the first 3 weeks did not help their growth, they look strong but for 4 weeks they are a bit small considering they are autos...

I'm however still continuing with the experiment.

So this is what I was thinking:

1 : CBD Crack - Top above node 3, light horizontal training of branches

2 : Fastberry - Wait until 4 to 5 nodes, start bending main stem horizontal, trim any branches pointing down

    3 : Daiquiri Lime - Absolutely nothing

    CBD Crack:

    Fastberry:

    Any other ideas?

Hi @Stoukie, in addition to what @greenkush said. As far as I understand, our bodies (liver) will process cannabinoids better if they are dissolved in fat (they are fat soluble luckily 🙂). So using an fat/oil means you should in theory get more of the THC & CBD absorbed. I've got no idea how much difference it actually makes, but personally I'd rather go that route

I understand completly and agree. I'm just wondering how many of the other beneficial cannabinoids (or non cannabinoids) is getting filtered out in the process... did not know about the absorption rate in fat, would make perfect sense why one would use a fatty solution then.

I have never made oil, only canna butter so my comments have no real backing, was just curious.

  10. Now that everyone commented with good ideas how about just going the decarb, grind, put in clear capsules route?

I know this route you will end up with plant matter mixed with CBD / THC stuffed in a clear capsule, I understand the dosage will be low and no way of really knowing what mg of CBD you getting in...

Any other reasons I missed why this is a bad idea?

Haha bit of a inside joke as I commented on his diary that we are looking forward to his grow as all the plastics pots were labeled with stickers, very neatly and methodically done. 😋

Nice dude! Keen to see how that soil performs, never seen it before

Agree, got a nutrient sample from the Atami stall at the expo and talked to the sales guy for 5 min, that is about all I know of them... but this is a experimental run, so using stuff I'm not comfortable with...

  14. For my next grow I will be experimenting with three auto flowering ladies, you always hear how finicky autos are and how you should not fiddle with them due to their short veg cycle, let's put that to the test by growing three autos side by side and training each one in a different way.

The three different autos I'm going to grow is:

    - Fastberry Auto from Fastbuds

    - CBD Crack Auto from Fastbuds

    - Daiquiri Lime Auto from Dutch Passion

So I was thinking the first auto I will top after it reaches 3 nodes and maybe top again each side branch once they reach 3 nodes ending up with many smaller colas.

The second I'm thinking to tie down horizontal when it reaches about 3 or 4 nodes, not going to top it, just bending.

And the last one I was thinking of doing absolutely nothing to it, sort of like a baseline grow...

I'm not 100% set on the training techniques yet so please feel free to add your comments or suggestions please.

Earlier the week, Tuesday evening, I soaked the beans for 12 hours:

    20190513_182824.thumb.jpg.295ba1d29fc406af33e85cda277a9245.jpg

The next evening they were showing signs of life:

    20190518_100227.thumb.jpg.e0d24e9134a2a4e7978ab8a2b3cd558d.jpg

    I planted them on Friday:

    20190517_131345.thumb.jpg.6957beab7dd0646610533f67141c0261.jpg

Day 3 and a little green can already be spotted:

    20190518_191443.thumb.jpg.75472b22a668dc930582117fe675d3e3.jpg

Ladies will be grown indoors under one of the 240 watt quantum boards with a 18 / 6 light cycle. Each one will be planted directly (as per the pictures above) into a 10 liter material pot.

I'm a big Freedom Farm fan but for this grow I'm trying this medium from Atami:

That's it... let's see how it goes.
