  1. thanks for sharing your methods. I am new to gardening with malted barley too. in my limited experience I've mixed it in with the other soil ingredients before planting, put a load into my worm bin and have tried top dressing (50 ml) just like you suggested. The relevant enzymes and their functions are all listed in here; https://www.revivalgardening.com/help/why-use-malted-barley-grains @SkunkPharm do you crush your barley, or use the whole grain? Please tell me about the organo mineral, what is in it exactly?
  2. @GGG great job and theyre looking very healthy. They are growing quick sticks. Can you share your experience with the barley. Is it malted barley that brewers use?
  3. Evening all, I have a winter attempt under way. It is an attempt as you have to take your chances with the storms. I used the same soil, in the same drum (25 litre) again. I will take a pic or 2 in the morning. These are the last of the blueberry pics in the gallery. The least blurry I blame the phone every time Ready for the chop Raised bed seed project. Spare clones deserve a chance too. Skunk #1 on the left and blueberry on the right side. I filled 3 coffee jars with bud and had a fat bag of skit left over. The 3 jars didn't last long into lockdown but I kept the trim curing at the back of the cupboard. Seedsman skunk pollinated with a male from the same pack and also a blueberry male from the dutch passion pack. I harvested my little seed crop and collected 40 seeds of skunk x skunk, skunk x blueberry, blueberry x skunk, blueberry x blueberry.
  4. Thanks @GGG I can't find any more info on tjat fert but the ratios look good a boost in veg. I just bought dessicated coconut powder at a spice shop and sprinkled some in the mix.Coconut flesh contains the following trace elements:Calcium (2%)Iron (25%)Magnesium (13%)Phosphorus (14%)Potassium (5%)Sodium (1%)Zinc (6%) Coconut water from fresh green coconuts contains the following trace elements:Calcium (2%)Iron (2%)Magnesium (7%)Phosphorus (3%)Potassium (5%)Zinc (1%) They both have cytokinin and zeatin plant hormones.
  5. Good evening. Nice looking grow @GGG I am also using barley powder, as an ingredient in my soil. The layest thing i have addedd is coconut powder. Have you ever tried it? What is in this fert? Do you know what Organo mineral is all about?
  6. @Fridgedoor register screens in Marine Drive have got the mono filament nylon mesh. I used tent canvas to make my bags with.
  7. Hello @Bernard Either way, ; you will jave to sign for it upon arrival, at the post office. I would request the economy option Send tjem a mail asking for normal airmail, a5 or smaller and no heavier than 125 g. The value of the gift must state less than 500 rand. If your number is on there you get a tracking bumber when it lands at jhb. Asvit moves along to north west you will get an sms. All customs want is their duties. If they think iys a letter with no value then they won't bother to open your envelope. Just be prepared to wait a while cos it mightbe quick to land in jhb and then very slow through the system.
  8. What about if you keep on jerking it until the bags empty?@Fridgedoor I find it a waste of time with the 25 micron, I now just use the 220, 160 and 43. I usually spin it 4 times and even a 5 th whirl can be worth the extra effort.
  9. @Fridgedoor @Fridgedoor yo man, give your bag a swift jerk up and down. It takes me 2 mins to drain a 25 litre bag. 24 hours is ridiculous
  10. @StickyD420 hey sticky. Howsit?it is a pro job. It looks sick. This thermostat and relay was the best investment i made in my set up. It takes a bit of tinkering to dial in the parameters, but once get it right you have one less thing to stress over. For R300 it solved a lot of my issues with cold temps and higher humidity when the light goes out. @zolrooker does that mean your fan turns off when the heater kicks in? My problem is that the fan needs to keep sucking through the carbon filter, or else it stinks out the place out. If I can make one suggestion it would be to hang the temperature probe down low at pot level. Keep tinkering for a few days and it will fall into place. Good luck with the growing adventure.
  11. Hello Zol, I use the same thermosat my friend. nice work with the wiring. I like the enclosure and the plugs. Do you plug the heater into one and your extractor into the other one? I added a relay switch into the mix so that when the heater is off, my extractor sucks at full speed and when the heater is in; the fan kicks down to low speed. I have a panel heater and an HIT 150 fan. The humidity never climbs over 60% and my temp never dips below 21C. What else have you got up your sleeve?
  12. Pre harvest plucking Apologies my fellow growers cos I didn't finish the write up on my grow. I harvested back in April, around the full moon, so I think it was 3 months of flowering, in total. She grew for 6/7 weeks under my 7 Watters in the cupboard. She sat in a 5 litre icecream tub and was carefully placed into a bigger drum containing old potting mixture. My mixture details are in my profile, but its a basic mix of coco and compost, along with a few additives and a top dressing to see her across the line.
  13. Surely she needs to dry out a bit? I'm not convinced that all this flushing is the best remedy. Or its roots aren't as well developed as the other fine looking lady.
  14. What is your opinion of the drooping?
  15. How are the girls today? Have a read here and the next page https://www.420sa.co.za/topic/1056-organic-soil-indoor-grow/page/4/?tab=comments#comment-11342
  16. How's It and good evening, you have certainly got a lot more knowledge and understanding about caring for your girls and don't make basic errors like putting plants on a cold floor and over watering. I just saw that picture of the poor droopy girl and offered my experience, because the environment is the most obvious thing to question first. Get the roots happy, don't drown them and most of these problems and lock outs will cure themselves. https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/blog-healthy-roots-for-healthy-cannabis-plants-n343 Cold temperatures can also shock plants causing wilting and slowed growth. Maintaining comfortable 22°C in the root zone will make your plants grow with no undesired side effects of temperature fluctuations. https://www.cannabisculture.com/content/2002/08/02/2565/When the air temperature remains at 72 degrees and the root zone is cool, which often happens when containers are placed on a cold floor, the roots do not work as efficiently as they do at a higher temperature. Conversely, cool air temperatures can be ameliorated using warm RZT. https://hightimes.com/grow/nicos-nuggets-temperature-plants/ Root zone temperatures are equally important as chemical reactions happen at a faster rate in optimal temperatures. These reactions are the mineral uptake from the nutrients we give plants for use in photosynthesis. The better and faster these reactions occur, the quicker and more abundant food the plant will have. The ideal root zone temp for cannabis plants is around 75°F and should always be about 5 degrees cooler than the ambient temperature. https://www.maximumyield.com/is-root-zone-heating-really-necessary-part-one-the-basics/2/922 They go from being flooded after watering to dry between waterings and from cold at night to warm in the day—the living soil is constantly trying to adapt to this ever-changing environment and so the plant roots do not function as efficiently as they could. If root zone environments are maintained consistently in the comfort zone, however, plants actually become more photosynthetically efficient—using all the energy they produce to focus on efficient growth and reproduction. As the plants use energy more efficiently, they begin to process nutrients better and they use light and water more efficiently as well, with less 'stretching.' In short, the plants can now utilize resources at the level of their needs, not in excess to overcompensate for stress.
  17. @GGG they don't enjoy having cold, soggy feet. Raising the temp of the water is a very good suggestion.
  18. If the lowest air temp is 20 c then the roots will be a couple of degrees lower than the air. That is on the borderline for lockout issues. I have had similar looking woes, in the past and was able to overcome them with an oil radiator connected to a timer. I would monitor the temp on the floor of your tent. Add a heater if needed. Your nutes and coco mix are top quality premium brands, so I don't think that is your problem.
  19. Morning! 15 c is too low. Do you have a reliable thermometer?
  20. What are the variables in your environment? Do you use a heater when the lights are off? We just had our first really cold snap and your issues could be related to root temperature.
  21. I was in there like Flinn. They were off loading a truck full of double grow, when i went past there this morning. I grabbed 12 bags of compost and 8 more sacks of potting soil. I spent over a grand there yesterday and they've had another R240 from me this morning. This is how i control the dreaded thrips and fungus gnats. SPINOSAD drench on the larvae and Tannie Margaret spray for the flies.
  22. Get in there before they close. 50 % discount on all their stock.
  23. Welcome along to my back yard bucket grow. Please pull up a deck chair and park off here, a while. This lovely girl is a blueberry from Dutch Passion. She smells like a mix of blackberry jam and shortbread and should be ready in a couple of weeks time. This ugly ducling turned into a beauty. The seedlings were all deformed and took a long while to get going, the growth is spindly and she has to be supported as the branches will hang down like an octopus. I must veg her for 6 weeks and no stress is imperitive, otherwise she can herm easily. She's a pain to grow, but the high is worth the effort. Just opening the jar makes me grin. She has burned in the wind and hosted her fair share of mites, but is still putting on some decent weight. She's my kind of girl.
  24. Heads up. Stodels have reduced everything by 50%. Every cloud and all that. I was there at 9 am and it was still quiet. Get in there early tomorrow and get your supplies before they close
  25. Thats very helpful, cheers. Is there a size limit for pics. How many Mb? Whats the best way to upload from my phone?
