  1. Thanks @highchome that's a cool diy but I'm talking about the biodegradable fiber pots, not the material pots like FF make.
  2. I think it depends what you want from the companion plant. If using it to repel insects, I would assume keeping it in the same tent as your grow would be best.. If using it to improve soil quality then you would have to put it in the same pot. Check the link below: https://www.royalqueenseeds.com/content/136-list-of-companion-plants-for-quality-cannabis-rqs
  3. Found some at Gillits nursery at R199.00 for a single 10L pot. Didn't think these things were so dam pricey.
  4. Hey guys Looking for those fibre pots that can be planted directly into soil, preferably a local (KZN) supplier. Thanks in advance.
  5. So Steve was true to his word and sent through replacement seeds. They actually arrived the following morning after talking to him, very fast delivery as it usually takes 2 days. I followed @Ill_Evan's illustration and took @Mambawana's advice and ditched the dome. 6 days later and all 3 have sprouted and are starting with their second set of true leaves. Thanks for all the advice guys.
  6. They recommended Durban Poison and C-berry 99, which according to their site are both space hungry plants. I have opted to just get some White Skunk, will see how that goes.
  7. So after chatting with Steve at GSR, he has kindly agreed to replace the seeds with my next order. This means I need to order another set of beans to get the replacements. I don't see anything offered in breeder packs so I am looking for recommendations. Doesn't have to be auto, but a smaller plant would suit my grow space. Anyone familiar with their seeds that can point me in the right direction?
  8. Ok so the seed that was showing growth seems to have given up, the tap root looks thin an discoloured With regards to the other 3 seeds, nothing happening. Not sure what to do here... chuck them in soil and see what happens or throw in the towel and start over?
  9. What I have gathered from searches is that each individual on a private property is allowed to have a certain amount of plants each. Cant confirm how many or what grow methods are acceptable.
  10. I have decided to take a proactive approach with the stubborn seeds. I gave both seeds a controlled squeeze between finger and nail, just enough to crack the shell but hopefully not destroy the seed. Thrown them back in water to soak. Hopefully something happens
  11. Hi 420 I have grown a few outdoor plants but never made it to harvest due to garden services, mad dog etc and so decided to try indoor to protect my babies. I purchased some auto's from gsr, I'm a big fan of northern lights. https://www.greensmokeroomseeds.com/index.php?_route_=sa-local-stock/auto-local/nothern-berry-gold-feminised-seeds&limit=50 https://www.greensmokeroomseeds.com/index.php?_route_=sa-local-stock/auto-local/auto-northern-blueberry-lights-feminised-seeds&limit=50 Since this was the first time using purchased seeds, I decided to use rockwool cubes and a humidity dome. I soaked the seeds in ph'd declorinated water for 12 hours (they had sank to the bottom) then placed them in the soaked rockwool cubes in a humidity dome and stuck them in the cupboard. After 7 days nothing happened, so I carefully opened up the rockwool to find 1 seed just starting a tap root while the 2nd seed showed no sign change. Contacting GSR they recommended I place the humidity domes in a sunny spot, which I did. It is now 4 days later and the seed that did crack is showing really slow progress (pic 1) while the 2nd seed still hasn't popped. Since this was also my first time using rockwool I suspected that could be the problem. I took 2 more GSR seeds and used my usual technique that I have had great success with bag seed. Soak seeds in ph'd dechlorinated water for 12 hours, place on wet kitchen towel, put in zip lock bag and leave under modem. After 4 days 1 seed has just cracked the shell (pic 2) but once again there is nothing happening with the 2nd seed. Both times it was the north berry gold that showed progress, albeit slow progress. The other strain seems to have no interest in germinating. I am based in Durban so I doubt temperature or humidity could be an issue. Now that you know the story, please point out what I am doing wrong
  12. I have an extra container I can still add to raise the light if need be, but want to try some LST and keep the plant low. This is a spacetote grow time lapse on youtube that got me interested. I know he only managed around 25g from the plant, but looks like fun. Plus I love tinkering and building my own stuff, not a huge fan of plug and play (I like to make life difficult ).
  13. The box on top of the light is a collection box for the fan. Draws air from the container to cool the lights (hopefully).
  14. If all goes well and I enjoy indoor growing I will eventually get a tent. The above box was made using mostly stuff that was laying around the workshop. I still have an extra storage container if I need to raise the height, but plan on growing a small autoflower first, so prob 60-70cm plant height.
  15. Trying my hand at a spacetote, if all goes well a 2.4m tent might be the next step up
  16. Hi everyone. Long time smoker (my wife actually gets irritated with me if I don't smoke) and have decided to start growing my own due to high prices on sub standard green. Have done a few outdoor grows and came across this forum looking for info on indoor micro grows. By the way it is awesome that we have a forum of this kind in SA. Anyway, looking forward to learning and growing some top shelf green. Cheers
  17. Hoping to grow 2x autoflowers but will start with just 1 at first.
  18. @Nostrovia The guys name is Brad (stays in Capetown) zero seven eight four six zero zero six eight four. Did all my communications with him over whatsapp. He sells a bunch of other lighting options as well. Alternatively, you could get it cheaper on AliExpress if you don't mind the wait. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32996402921.html
  19. @PsyCLown According to the video above stats are as follows: Power: 106W PAR output: 159 PPFD Efficiency: 1.49 PPFD/Watt I don't have the gizmos to test myself.
  20. @PsyCLown Correct, the fan is blowing over the heatsink. It think I went a little overboard there as the heatsink barely gets warm without the fan running. There are 148 LED's per a board. Will start a grow journal when I get going to see how they do.
  21. @PsyCLown The heatsink he offered was not wide enough for the boards, ended up just taking the lights at R1200.00 each, R2400.00 total. Quick count got 148 LED's per a board. The lights arrived a few days after ordering with 10x Sugar Black Rose x Afghan Kush (reg) seeds. Seeds were just in a bank bag so don't really expect much probably won't bother growing them. @growopz As for the power consumption, my boss has agreed to let me to do my microgrow in my air conditioned office, so he will be fitting the bill for utilities. Here's a few pics of my DIY light, used what ever I found laying around the workshop.
  22. @Nostrovia I want to make sure its quality before I share details. Dont want to lead forum members into crap or scams.
  23. @SkunkPharm all in all it came to R2850.
  24. @SkunkPharm I ordered 2x QBs with heatsink and 1x dimmer. Will update on outcome.
  25. Hey all Found these quantum boards locally. They priced at R1200 each. They advertised as having Samsung LEDs. Anyone have experience with these QBs. If it's a good deal I can share supplier contact details. Thanks in advance.
