1. I cant say this for sure - but it seems to me , and a few others i have spoken to and read about , that having a living organic system usually provides you with a stronger / fuller terp / flav profile , while hydro / salts give you a faster growing plant ?
Has anyone else experienced something like this ? I have only ever grown organic so cant say how my hydro plants turned out , but i have smoked some pretty bland salt grows in comparison
I am by no means an expert but I have experience with hydroponics growing other plants(vegetables)
My cannabis I grow organic in soil.
No light can beat natural sunshine.

Organics- slower growth rate and more forgiving grow. Better terpines and flavour development. Less stressful grow, you don't have to watch every little thing.

Hydro- faster growth rate, small margin for error. Apparently less flavoursome smoke. Very involved/stressful, checking ph, nutes, lights, temps, ventilation, RH.

Just my 2c

2. I'm growing outdoor organic in my own soil mix.
50%Compost
30%commercial potting soil
20%riversand

I feed sparingly with Seagrow and supplement with AACT for the rootzone.
I only use rainwater or koipond water.
Our Municipality messes with tap water too much. PH is all over the show.

Less is more- we tend to think otherwise!!

You need to be careful when mixing a whole bunch of stuff together.
It usually causes more problems than it solves. Been there got the t-shirt. Shotgun remedies are bad.

If the signs are on the old growth but the new growth looks good, give the plant some time. It wil show you what it needs.

Members with similar growing conditions will probably be able to assist more.

3. LoL thanks bru, hopefully the buds don't disappoint! Some of these girls I'd love to get 70-80g dried per girl but we'll see

4. Hey Acid Alice
Don't know if you have these.
Accordingly, looks like P, Mg or Boron. Leaves also lookin very dark green like too much Nitrogen.
What medium, grow condition, plant age/stage.

Could it be a deficiency(shortage) or toxicity(too much) or a lockout?
Difficult to diagnose like this.
Let some of the other growers also share their opions.

5. Afternoon,
I think everybody has had this happen to them to a certain extent.
The honey tip is a good one, thanks. Didn't know that.

Here's my kit

Electrical tape, supportive and stretchy for binding, even on a light break.
Wooden splint to keep the branch straight
Wire, cableties and bagties to tie splints
Compost tea to mitigate plant stress and help with the healing.

I've trained bonsai's before, so with the wire you have to be careful that it doesn't cut into the branch as it grows. Cannabis grows so fast, you have to check on healing regularly.
Otherwise leave it alone, cannabis is very resilient, they heal quick.

6. As the title states, we started something and it's taking on a life of its own....

Pic 1 and 2 are the original Swazi mama's babies, all doing well.

3/4 The ''foreigners''

3. 2x Unknown donated fem seed from the Netherlands.

4. 2x Sour Diesel auto's from Herb Nation

5. 7 bagseed ladies from Swazi origin- The Winter experiment

6. Flowering started lekker

7. Results of topping, 6/7 colas we hope. Topped all the ladies to various degrees to keep them low and improve yield

(No 8ft sativa monsters-not stealthy)

8. One exceptional lady going BIG

9. The Ruderalis seems strong in this one.

Lots going on and keeping me out of

trouble....

7. So I managed to fertilise this ''Mango kush'' pheno and she is now parking off revegging after being harvested. Seed has been planted and are growing well, they grow so well in fact that some of the beans cracked and started sprouting straight on the tree before I could pick them off.... They are on a mission to grow!!

A question to the more experienced growers, is the growth in pic 3 and indication of revegging?

That is a good root ball my friend.... no wonder those plants grew so well.
I'm growing organic in soil and always like to check the root growth after harvesting. To try and get an idea of the overall health of the rootzone.
Happy roots+happy plants=good harvest
You are doing something right there.
Lekker man

9. I've been battling spider mites since November last year. I haven't been able to get rid of them entirely ever since. When I think I've cleared them out they show up again. It never becomes a plague but they never disappear either. They really are cunts! I'm sure it's down to heavy foot traffic in my garage which is where my tents are. It's impossible to keep it as clean as it should be.... Try and be mindful of where you were before you enter your grow area. Change shoes and clothes if necessary.
Once that finished plant is out of there maybe do a spray with neem once a week for 3 or 4 weeks just to make sure that any possible spread can be prevented
Hi 420SA,
Give those spider mites something better to eat and they might leave your cannabis plants alone. The buggers seem to love my tomato plants and apparently they like squash and celery(as mentioned by other members on this forum). Wouldnt some companion plants or ''sacrificial'' plants help with your problem?

10. Lekker man,

What an unexpected elegant solution to a ''pain the neck'' problem.
Mother nature is all about balance and equilibrium. Us humans tend to eff up that balance and then many times we wonder to ourselves.... wtf???

Glad it worked so well for you.

11. Weaning is more appropriate when stopping SSRI's. My girlfriend stopped hers a couple of years ago. Also with the aid of THC. But to avoid the side effects that you are currently experiencing. Take Half the dose for a couple of weeks, then half the dos again for a week or 2. Then take that dose ever 2nd day. And then stop. Good luck.

@Totemic,

I would suggest@Skunkpharm's method of weaning off the meds gradually as there could be severe unforseen side effects bruh...

It seems as if you are allready committed to your current direction of cold turkey.
There will be some bumps....

Strongs bru.

12. I feel the same about diy and personally prefer it. You learn so much more by applying your mind and it gives your ''setup'' a personal touch. Never mind the financial aspect, prices at growshops are ridiculous!!!!

Everyone on this forum has varying environmental and economic circumstances but, we have this ''ONE''thing in common.
It's blerrie cool man.

Keep it growing.

13. Thanks for the input Dank.

She came from bagseed so it's very difficult to id her original genetics. I'm not worried too much, mother nature provides.

Just going to have to find the patience to dry and cure her properly.... Eishhhh.

Will keep the mango skunk in mind.

Cheers

HowzitDank

I can confirm that there are no cheesy flavours, just clean fruity mango.

Got a couple of beans from the breeding attempt, next gen is in the ground.

Lekker.

14. Our winter ladies doing well so far.
They about 1 week into preflower and looking good if I can judge by the early trich production.
Bit of an experiment, because winter outdoors is not ideal.
Did a bit of cropping, have 6 to 8 main colas, trying to keep the plants short to attract less attention.
These plants have the same 3 tip main leaves as the Mango ''kush/ skunk'' that was harvested previously in this thread.

So far so good, we are quietly optimistic.

15. Doesn't most organic mixes have bark in them?
For outdoor...
Bark is a common part of most ''store bought'' mixes, but many commercial mixes contain TOO much bark IMO.

Depending on the type of bark (Usually Pine) it tends to be acidic(tannins)and many times organically sterile- bad news for any plant's rootzone. (Culterra has been mentioned) That's why so many growers prefer to mix their own.

I use ''commercial soils'' but it only makes up a percentage of my mix. I activate my mix organically with ''home made'' compost and inoculate several times with AACT.

16. I was running just the airpump with an air stone previously. After some research it seemed that more agitation is recommended. This thread prompted some tinkering.

I built two versions,
1st one out of some 50mm pvc
2nd one from some 20mm clear silicone
(I used what I had laying around)

The 50mm required much more air than what could be delivered. 40mm would be better. You need a lot of air.
The 20mm diameter worked well but did not agitate the water near enough.

What I eventually settled on was the airpump and air stone running together with an old fountain pump and some garden hose.
Not exactly a ''vortex'' as mentioned, but the water is being aerated well and the fountain pump is circulating the water well and adding more aeration.
