  1. Thanks for the feedback and all the pictures @Live Canna .

Nice that it works for your parameters.

Just noticed that Mars Hydro now also has 3 :-clap different sized multi-chamber tents.

    • https://aeradix.co.za/product/mars-multi-chamber-grow-tent-120x90x180/
    • https://aeradix.co.za/product/mars-multi-chamber-grow-tent-150x120x200/

Pricing in an around the Secret Jardin Lodge tents. (Was thinking it would be more competitive)

Yours was a lot cheaper - half price - than the equivalent name brands @Live Canna .

    • Are you satisfied with the overall build quality and materials used ?
    • Would you say the zips and poles are robust and the fabric strong ?

    Thanks.

  2. Hi @Live Canna and thanks for replying!

I took the divider, and only blocked off the top shelf of the "seedling" section. In the bottom half, I have my fans, humidifier etc. This means that I have the FULL 90x90 area for plants.

Waiting to see the picture, but from what I understand, you are using the top right veg  chamber for seedlings/clones and you use the bottom right veg chamber for your equipment ?

    • Is the divider fully removable (allowing use of the whole 120x90 space) ?
    • Can one isolate the bottom right veg chamber instead of the top right veg chamber ?

My hope is to just shave off 4-8 (probably more like 4 because as mentioned the plants can't get too big in there) weeks. Just to reduce the time between harvests.

Sounds like you will be raising seedlings/clones in the right veg chamber and then flowering them after minimal veg time for a sea of green (SOG) style grow ?

    • If this is the case, what size of container will you be flowering in ?
    • Will you be introducing new seedlings/clones into flower periodically for perpetual grow  ?
    • Will you be keeping mother plants ?
    • Can you give us any other details of your proposed setup for this tent ? (hydro/soiless/soil, lights, nutes etc.)

    Thanks.

You can build a sturdier carport like structure with clear panels and shade nets for walls for much cheaper and it would be stronger and last longer. I did this because I needed something asap

Sometimes hard for me to justify time taken for DIY... and as the better half will tell you, *my* handy work skills will lower the property value - so off the shelf stuff helps - lol!

But things are looking good! Plants seem very tolerant of the heat and humidity there. Space is filling up nicely too. Are you just going to be vegging in there or looking to flower ?

  4. Thanks for replying @Batista !

Good to know you are finding it usable.

    • Was wondering how warm and humid things might get under  the plastic cover?
    • I know you are along the coast - are you in a cooler region ?

, it's working well after you cut out some holes for airflow

    • How have you positioned yours for intake/exhaust and did you re-cover the holes with something ?

    high wind

Yah - I was concerned about how stable the lightweight units are in storms and against monkeys! Monkeys can be a bit of an issue here. I was sure they would tip it over or damage it. Lol.

    14 hours ago, Batista said:

I will see how long the plastic lasts

Maybe it can be replaced with shade cloth or greenhouse plastic if needs be. As long as the unit can be nicely stabilized - it looks like something workable.

I also got a Solar charger in there for light at night to force veg

Nice move with the solar-powered light! Are you simply going to switch it off when your are ready to flower (if you are also flowering in there) or is some other plan ?

Decided to just buy this 2 months ago.I decided to not grow outdoor but greenhouse to up my overall quality and have minimal losses to mielieworms.Fuck those worms!

I grew alot of outdoor last year, but most was spoilt due to bugs/rot.So it was a bit of a waste. This year concentrating on my training/pest management especially in flowering and im not growing directly in the ground.

    Hello  @Batista!

    • Has this item been working for you and how are you using it now ?
    • How wide are the shelves and are they part of the structure or can they be removed easily/forcefully? (If one wanted more room)

    Thanks!

I am always broke as fuck

I hear you bru. Hats off to the way you have optimized that space and your resources under your constraints.  I am just now looking over some of your grows and learning more about your setup, but the results are great! You are getting some real bang for the buck here.

Is this a current/recent grow in the pic ?

I noticed the smaller plant. Do you full veg/flower runs ?

Maybe much overlooked  factor. Maybe I need to add that to my original questions. What strains have you found the most success with and what are you running in the picture ?

Super neat mainlining! Must practice this one day. How many weeks did it take to build and veg ?

If the room you are growing in is say 30C and 70% RH, the lowest you will be able to get it inside your tent would be 30C and 70% RH.

For sure! I am eager to understand how users are combining fans/AC etc to maintain proper environment when the temps and RH are at these kinda numbers. What light/ventilation combos and other strategies being in small grow spaces.....

    Okay. Got you.

So my thing with those tents is that I do not feel it suits my needs properly. I feel the way the space is divided is a bit of a waste.

You found the choice of sizes and chamber split too limiting for your purposes.

I think also the orientation of the chambers could be limiting ie. maybe more helpful to have veg chambers on the left instead of right for some users.

    Just now, PsyCLown said:

Vivosun wouldn't be on my list of tents to own to be honest. I'd rather spend a bit more and buy a different brand of tent.

Nor mine. Just used that link for illustrative purposes.

I have only seen Secret Jardin 2-in-1 tents locally.  No other trusted name brands - although I understand you are advising two separate tents.

So my thing with those tents is that I do not feel it suits my needs properly. I feel the way the space is divided is a bit of a waste.

It does not allow for me to do a perpetual grow, the veg area is more of a seedling area and cannabis seedlings do not stay small for very long.

I'd rather have a dedicated veg tent and keep the seedlings as well as vegging plants inside there and then have a separate tent for flowering.

Having one of those tents, if I started plants in the smaller area, I'd likely have to move them to the larger area and veg them there for a while longer before I could flip to flower. Therefore I feel it is a waste and ruins the appeal to having a split tent.

If the smaller section could allow for one to veg plants until they were large enough to go into the flower section and had enough space to be able to fill the flower secton from the veg section - then sure. It would in essence be like having 2 separate tents, in a single tent.

However... they are once again separate. So double the lights, double the extraction (unless you use a Y-connector I guess) and so forth. End of the day it comes down to a single larger tent which is split vs two separate tents. Much of a muchness, just the two separate tents offer more flexibility. However the single larger is likely going to be cheaper... but I have yet to find a split tent where the veg and flower area are the same size or large enough to justify using it for a perpetual.

Thanks for the reply @PsyCLown .

If I understand you correctly the main issue for you was the partitioning has been insufficient to fully support a perpetual ?

Could I ask what tent brand and size you used ?

  10. Hello 420SA!

I am in Durban, and I have been stewing in the heat and humidity of the past few days and wondering how members are maintaining their indoor grow environments under these weather conditions.
In particular, I am interested in indoor spaces of one square meter or less including tents, cupboards, wardrobes or DIY spaces.

    Could you please share:

    • What are your temperature ranges ?
    • What are your humidity ranges ?
    • What kind of space and size ? Tent/cupboard/DIY
    • What kind of lighting  and power? CFL/HID/LED
    • Veg schedule ? 24/0, 18/6, 12/1 or other
    • Flowering lighting schedule ? 12/12, 11/13 or other
    • Flowering in day or night ?
    • What ventilation/cooling and power ? Fans/ACs in tent or room/other/none
    • Humidity control ? Dedicated dehumidifier/other/none
    • Maintenance of reservoir temperatures (if applicable) ? Chiller/ice water/ice blocks/other/none
    • Anything I missed/additional comments or queries ?

Hoping to hear from a lot of Durban/KZN folk, but welcoming contributions from any members with experience of growing under high heat and humidity conditions, even if briefly every year.
    How do you cope ?

    Peace!

  11. Hello 420SA!

I am wondering how many community members have actual experience (past or present) with 2-in-1 tents like these : https://vivosun.com/products/vivosun-2-in-1-48-x36-x72-mylar-reflective-grow-tent-for-indoor-hydroponic-growing-system

I am aware that Secret Jardin have two different sized "Lodge" series tents which are available locally.

So if you use, have used or have considered using one of these types of tent :

    • Why do use, not use or no longer use a 2-in-1 ? (major pros/cons in your setup)

And if you currently do use one :

    • Local or international supplier ?
    • Price ?
    • Quality ?
    • Any comments ?

    Thank you.

Trophy seeds has some Dutch Passion Durban Poison.

Hello. I was checking up on that DP DP

    This is from : https://www.dutch-passion.com/en/cannabis-seeds/product/durban-poison/

    Quote

Dutch Passion original Durban Poison® is a classic outdoor and indoor variety, tough enough for cannabis outdoor growing in extreme Northern/Southern latitudes. Durban Posion seeds come originally from South Africa and was inbred over many years during the 70’s. With each generation, Durban Poison® became increasingly adapted to the windy and rainy conditions of Northern Europe. During the breeding process, some unknown indica genetics have been crossed with Durban Poison seeds. Durban Poison plant may initially show wide indica style leaves but the growth pattern allows the sativa dominance to show by the end with long blooms pierced by slim sativa-style leaves.

So I am not too sure about the authenticity here. I think that Durban Poison is a 100% sativa ?

    Confirmations 420SA'ers ?

Regarding other seed choices, I believe that Holy Smoke Seeds strains have been bred with SA conditions in mind ?

Hey I can always take seeds from hermie and keep

Good chance the seeds will produce hermies as well...

Although bagseed is known to produce hermies, I would keep going with bagseed until you get purchase seeds or get some clones.

What do the 420SA growers think ?
