  1. no limit on amounts of strains to grow out? only on amount submitted for judging?
  2. outdoor grown sativa from bag seed exact lineage unknown, only certainty is that its of southern african landrace. the limonene is strong in this one with a side of sweet aroma smoke report: hits instant, earthy on the exhale and with a taste on the tongue i cant describe
  3. just a thought we should consider many options but how about totemic splits his last stock of autos he's letting go amongst the contestant. they say autos are quite the challenge to grow even for experienced growers. id be disappointed having to go to my, ironically, go-to-strain that i've been growing over years in an attempt to win a challenge.my twee pennies
  4. any case for us that insist on persevering through these grows, what are the cup details what rules would apply..yield drywieght per plant, or typical cup format by means of judging how would this work? so many questions
  5. since i only trust in applying auxins to stomata im gonna skip the silica then..thanks for input
  6. are you protecting them with surge protection and are they switching on automatically when the 'light turn on' so to speak.
  7. i guess this comes down to what information you got at the start. you mention second hand equipment but i'm weary of second hand led and their drivers that ''kak'' due the surge when the lights turn back on. still not sure if this is true but its what i was warned against so havn't switched to led yet. i'm looking for lumii 720w units if anyone knows anything. but i don't mind to wait till black friday for this hps doesn't bother me at all.. the startup cost of an indoor grow is enough to make most turn away from growing and continue buying some grams worth of bud at a time. or at least this is what i'm seeing with acquaintances. it is a lack of understanding of the dark cycle that load shedding scares people of too. but we are in south africa with 9 months of summer(did we have a winter last year in the western cape), id still say for now that growing outdoor might be best, and i'm not and auto flower guy but you can grow at least 3 cycles of them successfully outdoors..every year..its just more expensive with the purchase price of some seeds, again cash is usually an determining/deterring factor.
  8. just please leave some for me as well.. looking to add his strains to my collection
  9. silica (Si)- have read and seen the comparison charts on the different chemical compounds of silica, they all suggest agsil16h right.. but i just came back from the little hydro store with a bottle of feed4weed liquid silica which is all they had. it doesn't mention which chemical composition it contains. so im reading more into silica before adding anything to the soil. so my question is this, is their any difference when using it in soil with abundant microlife present surely they should be able to break it down into Si right? and how much of it is uptaken would remain unknown without knowing whats in this. do i skip the feed4weed and spend more time finding agsil16h? what would you have done im on the fench here, on the one hand i trust microbes to do this but on the other im not finding concise information. that or im using the wrong keywords in my search bar. any input appreciated as always. found this interesting - ''Silicon makes up 27.7 percent of Earth’s crust; it is the second most abundant element in the crust, being surpassed only by oxygen.'' silica being the combination of the two most abundant elements on earth.
  10. ''Abiotic stresses reduce the photosynthates production, thus genotypes also reduce the reserve mobilization for tapetum cells which induce the significant reduction in pollen fertility.'' from: http://researcherslinks.com/current-issues/Pollen-Viability-an-Index-of-Abiotic-Stresses-Tolerance-and-Methods-for-the-Improved-Pollen-Viability/24/1/2563/html#:~:text=Abiotic stresses reduce the photosynthates, susceptible genotypes under abiotic stresses. edit: by now everyone nows im a nerd LOL was cool back in highschool before college changed me 180
  11. your definitely going in the right direction, attaching a book in pdf on breeding. or rather theres a section on breeding after you skip the basics Marijuana_Botany_An_Advanced_Study_The_P.pdf
  12. you could also have taken this time to create fem seeds this is not considered true breeding tho would have preserved the genetic but its too late probably too administer cs sprays now. cloning her would help too edit: i realize this is rather off topic as your looking into collecting pollen , im just jotting stuff down at this point
  13. hoor hoor people also dilute it to increase the spread..but maybe your only looking to seed one branch idk
  14. it wont make a difference honestly look into diurnal rhythms keeping a plant in dark or light conditions dont stop biological process within the plant over night. they continue as if it was going through light and dark periods as normal (the circadian rhythm) so you are mostly just putting a pause on photosynthesis, im not boring you?
  15. ok you are seeing if the dark period will help then?
  16. for now though, microspores are land plant spores that develop into male gametophytes, whereas megaspores develop into female gametophytes. the male gametophyte gives rise to sperm cells, which are used for fertilization of an egg cell to form a zygote. it is during the sporophyte phase that you can modify which direction the plant goes. so it can be done..im just not sure how this is done without lab interference, still reading.
  17. definitely thanks for giving me something to study ill get back to you if i find better information regarding this
  18. i have seen no evidence of this, stay clear of bro science and trust scientific peer reviewed studies
  19. you can promote maturation by means of altering the frequency of ultradian rhythms within its circadian clock of the male plant, this will require a separate grow space obviously alternatively and much less complicated to understand without background in plant biology would be to use ethylene to promote maturation. this is done by home growers with ripe bananas, also requiring a separate space
  20. for the simple fact that i was told they will look into the order but days later i am yet to receive any feedback. i have sent a detailed letter thanking them for the good points regarding my order before going into why i believe i was sold duds. still waiting on response. im not in the mood to go back and forth regarding mails anyway so im glad they showing me what after sales service is like when dealing with their company. id spent my money elsewhere in hopes of receiving some form of after sales when issues arise
  21. plants had to sit through 35.9c inside at lights on today was wondering how your outdoor plants are taking it. got some leaf curl at the sides on almost all of my girls, not taco just serated edges
  22. and before the loadshitting gets me, pick up a cheap ph testing solution and a bottle of distilled water(for soil slurry test), need to check your final ph when everything is mixed in before planting.
  23. aeration, go with perlite if you want it will turn to dust however. people are going more in the direction of hydroton. check out pricing on marijuana sa and futurama as well they are closer to you also no biochar, do more research before running with subcools
  24. okay then making your own soil wouldn't be optimal, your gonna sit with far more soil than you need. seedstarter mix into the antifragile or orga will work better for your situation
  25. its a lot of goodness. each component i can elaborate on if you don't see its purpose in the mix. mix mine on the driveway, its mostly driveway here anyway tarps work but another expense for a one time use item. you wont ever build the base again just amend to it. the super soil gets better with age. you mix everything through regardless of order to steer you in some direction as to buying the stuff, how many plants and pots sizes are we talking?
