  1. Too pricey for bubble bags I reckon. Seen a few good options on ebay going for quite a bit cheaper...shipping included
  2. Welcome aboard OnlyTheGood
  3. Finding PH down and Promix will be tricky as usually only hydro stores stock such things. You may need to order those items online. Cloning gel you should be able to get at a nursery, else just get DynaRoot rooting powder and that you can find at Builders Warehouse. They come in different numbers, get the number 1
  4. Below The Lion has very kindly done up an article for our competition on their site. Follow this Link to see the article and be sure to share it if you can :thumbups
  5. Hmmm, Looks like he flowered a clone to me.....soon after rooting
  6. What that figure indicates is that a fluorescent(CFL) bulb that uses 11W of power emits the same amount of light(lumens) as a 60W incandescent bulb(at least perceived that is). Hence the name energy saving bulbs. That information is irrelevant though seeing as incandescent bulbs are useless for growing. So what we're talking about here is strictly CFL's and you need to use a CFL bulb that uses a minimum of 20W. CFL bulbs have very poor penetration and once you go below 20W the penetration gets really bad.... You also wanna be looking at the lumen rating. The more lumens, the better!
  7. With CFL's heat isn't such an issue, especially with the size bulbs that HB intends to use. A PC fan should keep any seriously high temps in check...but with that being said Skolley is right, you really don't wanna be stubborn and use bulbs any less than 20W and even 20W really is weak. Get 2x 20W 6400k's and 2 x 18W 2700k's. Exchange those one's you bought there if you kept the slip... So many growers(including myself) start off with the small cheap CFL mentality and soon realise the error of their noob ways Now that the bug has bit you'll soon see how that bite wound will grow and what a costly bug bite it was
  8. His address will be on GSR's database so the risk factor is there. Unless they wipe their database every so often... but if the order was small then I doubt the cops will waste resources on it. If they were to follow up on it your friend could just say he was totally unaware of the seed order and someone must have used his address. As long as he doesn't grow and you don't use his address all the time
  9. Eish Felix That's a post of Green Leaf Organics', you aware of that? Seeing as you were trying to nominate Toby in the first place. What about This Post of Toby's
  10. What medium you growing in SSA? Biobizz is an organic nutrient for soil. I have heard about people using organic nutrients in hydro but I'm not sure what the results are like though. Think of Biobizz as a supplement to soil so it might not provide all the nutritional needs you require when growing in coco
  11. First post? You sure? The first post was made on February 02, 2015. It doesn't qualify. It needs to be a post that was made between 12/06/15 and 10/09/15
  12. Having an oscillating fan keeps the air circulating nicely allowing Co2 to be taken up by the plants more efficiently. In really small places that might not be such an issue though but I would still have a fan in there of some sort just to move the air around. A fan also ensures stronger stems and branches as the plant adapts to endure the 'winds'
  13. Thanks for the info Al-Hassan! I am aware that chitin is found in insects as well. I remember the term from Biology in school. I think millipede shells especially. What is this insect frass you mention and how does one get it? I might give I&J a call and see what they say.
  14. Definitely Nanners!
  15. Is it just that plant in that grow space and will it be alone until its intended harvest? Your biggest worry is that plant pollinating any other plants in flower. If you can keep it well away from any other flowering plants you may be alright. Just pinch off those nanners and continue to do that if you see any others show up. Once the plant has been harvested nuke that grow area!
  16. I've been doing some reading up on the benefits of adding crab meal to your living soil. It contains an ingredient called Chitin which the shells are made up of and microorganisms apparently love it! Unfortunately it seems this product is pretty much native to the states however it seems pretty easy to make if one can just get access to crab shells and/or lobster shells. I'm not really partial to going around to the local seafood restaurants and asking for scraps but I do stay near to the beach so I'm thinking of going on a scavenging mission one afternoon in search of as many crab shells i can find. If I'm not mistaken crab meal is just ground up crab shells right, which makes it relatively simple to make. Has anyone else considered crab meal?
  17. Looks like it to me as well. Just to be 200% sure before you pull it, take a photo with that HPS off for us so we can clearly identify it. What strain and breeder is your plant? Has it been subjected to any odd kind of stresses lately?
  18. Yip I find a lot beginners start off researching LED first these days. With all the great things being said about LED I don't blame them but you can't spend 10 grand on a LED panel and if one small LED goes you're facked. Right now you can get a 400w digi HID setup for about 3 grand or a 600w for 4 grand. If you have a reflector already that will be even cheaper. That leaves you with at least an extra 6 grand for electricity!!! Which I can assure you will power at least 4 or 5 grows...not to mention the money you'll be saving on not buying bud
  19. Ok great but it needs to be a post so which post do you guys nominate? * So it Begins-Feb 2015 is a topic which was started in Feb, way before the comp started. You need to nominate a post and not a topic.
  20. Definitely a distinct lack of light 600 lumens is basically the equivalent of the light you get just before the sun goes below the horizon at dawn lol Get an 85w CFL at the LEAST and don't blow your cash on that LED. My Really surprised the plant has gotten this far! Cousin Larry indeed!
