My best grows were ones I posted up here, and while recent grows were ok, I know I can do better.

Seeds are a mixed bag of leftovers and freebies.

3x Caramelino by Victory seeds.

3x Special Crystal Haze fb from biltong&budz.

3x Trump’s cookie jar by President seeds.

I am slightly reluctant to post this before the seeds have actually popped, as always, pre-pop anxiety.

So, the 3 SCH are doing great, JF clones are 4.5/6, although entirely my own fault. I left the zip on main tent down and one of my cats was investigating the rickety scaffolding in a strange very bright white room, and was really surprised to be suddenly showered with wet substrate and small plants... Luckily only one clone was a outright write-off, the .5 was just kinked, so I masking tape splinted and it seems to be ok. You can see it in the middle below. the idea is to keep them all in main tent, until there's something to flower. Then I'll get around to setting up my smaller tent for mothers/vegging.

Talking about substrate, the grow medium I use is largely recycled from previous grows, with top ups of whatever it seems to need, including lots of home-made compost. I've seen advice to not recycle, but i've never had problems, and it spends a long time 'ageing' outside in the sun between re-uses.

Nutrients; at the moment it's just water for everyone, substrate has enough nutes to get through until 2nd transplant. When I do start, I have been using Green House Feeding powder fertilizer. When that's finished though i'll be switching to their BioGrow version.

Finally got round to re-potting all the plants. As indicated by root circling, could have probably done so a bit sooner.

Next time I get clones I'll put them straight into big pots.

Jet Fuel Clone (was the damaged one)

All in all there's now 8 plants. I haven't yet decided how many plants to flower, depends on how big they get over next couple of weeks.

Lights:

  • 2 x Nova LED S8 360w (from GTHydro)
  • Home made LED T5 Bank with LED tubes.
  • 600w Dual-Arc (HPS+MH)

I had 2 x 600w's running, but 1 transformer blew, and I'll be upgrading everything to LED anyway, as soon as I've got the readies.

whats up man!

lets see what you can do with these!

i bought a nova S8 from GTH a few years ago,  i still have it in my cupboard actually and have been thinking of setting it up as a veg\clone light as the unit pulls 360w from the wall (90x4) and that may sort my clones out and give my space a sweet vibe LOL. they arent actually Nova S8 lights as you can see the fittings are slightly different. when my warrant passed, i opened up the light and its all just chinesuim products sadly.

but look, he light grew me some weed and helped me learn a lot about lights!

i do feel you should have done some more research on the lights before you bought them as there is muuuuuuch better lighting out there for a way better price point.

Yup, although In my defense I did buy them a while ago, when GHT was mostly the goto in SA, and you got what they had.

I'll definitely be looking at the 'new' quantum boards for next upgrade.

Any recommendations would be more than welcome.  :-puffpass

okay sweet - if they are not a recent purchase then shap! i was actually going to suggest if you got them recently to go get a refund and we will point you in the right direction 😄

there are a few vendors on here that sell lights, and if its LED that you want, then try find some boards that use the LM301B diodes from samsung as they are proven to deliver the results you want.

Plants looking good. Temperature not bad considering time of year. Humidity is quite low at the moment, but I am taking enough water out the air to support all the plants since I got the dehumidifier. It's set to keep below 60, down to 50 for flowering. I'm determined to not even start PM this time. I'll start a bi-monthly application of diluted neem oil foliar spray shortly.

Load shedding in the middle of the day... Good time to do some cleaning.

I do love the new white tent, but the base is a bugger to keep clean.

20220310_102201.jpg

Luckily it's removable.

20220310_102700.jpg

All good.

Note; despite using autopots and autopot trays, I'm not using their irrigation system, preferring to water by hand every 2nd day. I've had enough floods that I'm wary of automatic irrigation.

20220310_121837.jpg

View through the 'green' window in the tent. Don't really see the point.

All good, just given them a spritz of antifungal. I use a very weak solution of water and pre-emulsified neem oil. Seems to be working, along with humidity control.

I will be switching over to flowering this weekend as most plants have already topped half way. There won't be enough room for them all, so I'll be moving some to the veg tent, or just leave them outside for some natural flowering.

I'm not taking any clones, or even topping/fimming/stressing etc. This because a) I'm lazy b) in a hurry for some buds c) have been so impressed with the purchased clones, I'll probably just do a different strain of those for next grow.

3 of the 'under-performers' get to go outside for the duration. I will still be watering/feeding them, so no abandonment issues.

That leaves 5 in the tent. Still a bit cramped, but I'll be watching closely and applying ongoing foliar neeming...

The tent is now in flowering mode, so lights on from 13h00 to 1h00.

All good in the tent, flowers coming along nicely. Feeding at 1l 2ec twice a week or so. Weekly foliar with diluted neem. Humidity is theoretically at 50, but our late rain is spiking that. Lots of airflow.

Some pics from outside plants. Doing even better despite the masses of rain we've been getting. One has outgrown it's container, so keeps falling over. I'll need to stake it, or repot, although reluctant to mess with it at this point.

@Naughty.Psychonaut, yea probably right, but it's only some of them, and not much I can do about ot now. It might be the medium, or the fact I use same feeding throughout veg and flower. The crystal's are looking good though, and no signs of PM, which is my main goal for this one. I'll add a couple of blocks of coco to the substrate for next grow, and maybe just use the greenhouse powder on veg. Need to try some of the 'flower power' nutes now available.

I agree man those ladies looking good and they pushing the frost like it's no ones business, no doubt you gona have a lekker stinky harvest!!! :-stoned

a thing to keep in mind, the very very best grower in the world, the guy running thousands of plants at a time with no struggles and no hassles is sitting figuring out ways to better his practice, because there is always room for improvement and there is always something we can do about it, doesn't matter what it is. that's why the guy who is the best, is the best. cause there came a time where he accepted that he doesn't know everything and has some more stuff to learn and opened himself up to change and try new things.

we can look at that information and take it personal and be negative about the fact that someone pointed out a flaw in something we did or we can be positive and constructive about it and use the information to our advantage. no one is here to beat on anyone, we all here because we wana help one another achieve better results with our cannabis growing adventures. 😃

anyway, enough ranting on!

those indoor ladies organic or synthetic?

I see you talking about 2ec, so I am assuming you doing a synthetic grow? Going the GHPF in a coco medium will be concidered organic and you'll need to add microbes and what not. all the organic stuff.

if you growing syntetic, strictly coco and salt nutes I would say just do a runoff EC test? this should give you an indication of what's going on in the medium.

2ec in a synthetic situation should be 100% for those size plants, so I am sure you have some kinda build up.

the plants with the claw leaves and I see one with burnt tips, you could easily fix. just stand back with nutrients till they start asking again. or till they look 100% then carry on feeding. if you wana carry on just as you where, I would suggest a nice flush with clean water of about 2 to 3 times the amount of feed you would give. then with next feed you carry on with 2ec.

pretty much the same if you're doing organic growing, except you have to let the pots dry to 30-50% after the flush. where as coco mediums you have to keep above 50% moisture at all times. with organic you flush properly and wait a good couple days till its dry and carry on with your regime.

✌️🍀
