  1. We'll have to host a thousand house-bounded weed-smoking parties on the day of the ruling in our favour.
  2. I think there are differences. I've not smoked huge amounts of different strains, but I've seen that in moderate doses, indica strains seem like they affect the body more (make me feel heavy and tired) while the sativas make me laugh and chat more. However, I think people go overboard with nuances. Like I've seen people making ridiculous levels of detailed analysis on effects which seem to be attributable to randomness. Also, I've found that when I smoke a shit tonne of any type of weed, it always has the same effect: a weird dissonance between my senses, like my neurons are "lagging", and if I'm alone extreme paranoia and sometimes auditory hallucinations.
  3. Turned out to be a boy. :/ The transition from an 18/6 light schedule to the natural photoperiod made it flower almost immediately. The leaves continued to be much wider than some of the other plants, but they thinned out quite a bit.
  4. Do you need to keep those sleeves clean in some special manner, Gnome? As in, just throw them in your washing machine, maybe spray some iso alcohol on them? Or do you go through more complicated procedure?
  5. Where did you buy your mason jars? I can't find those things anywhere. I've been using jars that were previously used for foodstuffs (e.g. jam jars, peanut butter jars), they're not ideal...
  6. I read the article, it seems pretty solid to me? Any particular criticisms that you can level at it, alemo?
  7. A small update, for anyone curious: I gave the plant to a friend of mine, they stuck it outdoors a couple days ago. It's grown quite significantly, really shows how big of a difference there is between an 11W CFL and the sun, hahaha! The leaves are still much broader than its siblings, but they are nowhere near as fat as they were. My intuition agrees with what Green Leaf Organics said. When the plants are so small, they aren't really going to be showing traits that necessarily continue into adulthood.
  8. The author of this article has a very good point. Serious reparations are due to those ganja farmers (and their families) who have to put up with being on the butt-end of herbicide sprays and terrible jail sentences. While I couldn't possibly get behind only allowing cultivation in a single area, I think there are ways of adapting that (only allow commercial-scale recreational growing in a certain area for the first 5 years?) to make it have similar benefits for those farmers without completely ruling out everyone else's ability to produce homegrown, hehe.
  9. If the "inert" ingredients are actually inert, then to help guide you on your path of DIY: sucrose = plain old white sugar, glucose = corn syrup (I've also seen it called corn sugar).
  10. Howzit everyone So I chucked some seeds I dug out of my smoking box into little cups a while ago and threw them under a 11W light with an 18/6 schedule, just for the hell of it. Not actually expecting to flower these, I just wanted some plants to oogle at every now and again. Anyway, one of the seedlings has got very broad leaves. The length/width ratio is nearly twice that of its siblings. Will it eventually grow out of this? Seems like it might just be a random happening. Also, is it a fairly common occurence for ZA bagseed to have fairly broad leaves? I've seen some pics of swazi on this forum that have moderately broad leaves when compared to say, Thai strains. Cheers, Danny. EDIT: attached a picture for the hell of it. This pic was taken a little while ago. The one behind it has grown into slightly thinner leaves, while this one in the foreground has maintained the ratio on the developed leaves and the young leaves appear to be filling out into the same broad shape.
  11. Is your flowering box separate from your veg box? If so, maybe you could take the opportunity to top your veg plants, taking a large enough top to clone, then sex the clones in your flower box? I've seen some stuff on other forums where people successfully got unrooted clones to begin preflowering in nothing but a glass of water.
  12. Trickerst mentioned that the research is eurocentric. I'm curious, what does everyone think of the relevance of this with regards to the data Prof. Nutt has collected/analysed/presented? For example, is addiction to cannabis fueled by social context as much as by the psychoactive chemicals themselves?
  13. https://www.timeslive.co.za/news/south-africa/2017-07-31-dagga-trial-stalled-over-live-streaming-rights/?platform=hootsuite Those "doctors for life" people are... Amazingly dense. They are worried about the state setting a precedent for a murderer to profit off of their crimes by streaming the contents of their trial... Wow. What absolute bullshit.
  14. Does anyone know if this court case will be televised/streamed online, by any chance? UCT is on vacation and I have nothing better to do, would love to watch this whole thing go down.
  15. A family member of mine works in animal welfare and has told me that he saw numerous cases of dogs being poisoned by eating the cannabis plant material, so I'd reckon that some serious caution should be applied here.
  16. If I may ask, what kind of crazy bug could cause that problem?
  17. Congrats on a frosty harvest man! Post a smoke report when you've got it all dried and cured.
  18. This is something I was doing for a month or two earlier this year. Made about 1/4 cup of infused coconut oil with 5g of indiscriminate R15/g weed, took a teaspoon of it every day in a cup of coffee after a light lunch. Did wonders for my sleep patterns and focus/productivity levels in the afternoons. (I come from a line of insomniacs and was diagnosed with ADD when I was 16, so both were quite nice.) When I do it next I think I'll try doing this minimum dose finding method. I occasionally took too much (totally by accident ) and ended up chilling for the rest of the day, hahaha!
  19. Some obsessive googling found this fish-keeping forum where they mention Mutimex, quoting R800 for 200 litres (excluding shipping): http://www.koi4u.co.za/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=23&id=45003&Itemid=278 Mutimex pumice page: http://www.mutimex.co.za/products/pumice_stones/ This was posted in 2014, however, so prices may have changed. I emailed Mutimex asking their prices and minimum order size, so I'll post back here or PM you if you are interested? I've since researched other possibilities but the usuals I've seen mentioned on other forums (lava rock, perlite) are nowhere to be found in large enough quantities or are just as expensive as the quoted pumice price from that forum. I've been investigating peanut shells because I know of at least three shops around my area that sell peanuts. The one I emailed said they buy their peanut already deshelled unfortunately. But I'll keep looking. EDIT: Figured I'd put an update here concerning the peanut shells. The three shops all told me that they buy their nuts already de-shelled, and one of them informed me that they have multiple suppliers, all of which import nuts de-shelled. So peanut shell probably ain't an option in Cape Town...
  20. Hey there! I'm pretty excited to see the wisdom you have to share. I'm hopefully going to be trying out KNF (and beginning some 50 litre no-till pots) come next season, provided the landlord allows it. What type of aeration soil component do you use? I've been looking at pumice myself.
  21. If I may go off-topic for a moment, @Totemic: I've read on the internet numerous times that African sativas are known for their zero CBD content and higher THCV content... Is that a load of bollocks or is it maybe a subpopulation somewhere on our continent that has those properties?
